few degrees for most of us. this morning though waking up with patchy fog. seeing it of the judge inside the bay over parts of the north bay and along the coastline. into nine, ten, notice it is going to burn away a little bit left right here in side the bay and then we have it right here off the coast. mostly sunny, partly cloudy for saturday. temperatures this morning off to a cool start a lot like yesterday. most of us in a few degrees. 45 concord, 42nevado. 48 oakland and 49 redwood, 46 outside the door in san jose a bit of a chill in the air but we will start to see the temperatures turn around by nine, ten, feeling better and this is what i do expect we will see for the afternoon. 69 for oakland, 71 redwood city, 71 san jose, livermore going to 73 as well as morgan hill, low 70s in the forecast for santa rosa, napa and san ralph yoel and 64 along the coast in pacific a. today is going to be the warmest day. we will see quite a turn around

for your sunday. we will wake up mostly cloudy. some will have a chance for scattered showers and they will increase by sunday night. coming up i will have a better timeline of saturday. i will have a look at sunday. how much rain i expect we will get. >> developing news in the search for a missing passenger jet carrying 239 people. just a few hours ago searchers spotted two large oil slicks off the southern tip of vietnam. the airlines flight was headed touching a. air traffic controllers lost track of it not long after it took off. air force planes found the oil slicks which are six to mine miles long. they say the slicks are consistent with the kinds that would be left by fuel from a crashed jet liner. in china family members were devastated as they went to the airport looking for answers. it is still not clear what happened. officials say the weather was clear when the plane dropped

from radar screens. last week cnn did a story with the airline and on the co pilot in that story. you can see that co pilot on the left. that co pilot is among those missing. >> we are looking at all pockets for -- but it's to early to make any remarks. i would just like to say that our thoughts and prayers with the family. >> among the passengers were three americans and two babies. the plane is a 777 which until the crash at sfo last july did not have a deadly crash in its 20 year history. boeing said its monitoring the situation. >> oakland police are investigating a report of a sexual assault at an elementary school. we are live in the city of oakland to tell us why some parents are angry at the school response. >> reporter: police are still searching for that man who reportedly inappropriately touched a 7-year-old girl here at the world and achieve academy. we were on the scene yesterday

afternoon. parents though had to wait outside while the campus was locked down and police investigated and the search for the alleged attacker. police say that two girls, aged 7 and 8 attending an after school program said they saw a strange man on campus at about 3:45 yesterday afternoon. the girls said that the man touched at least one of them inappropriately. the girls returned to their class and told a teacher and that prompted a lockdown and a police investigation. now parents say that they were very concerned because the school wasn't releasing information. >> we deserve a call. because like me i'm thinking the worst. you know my two little ones, i'm thinking something happened to them. it's their responsibility to give us parent parents a call. >> reporter: the girls were taken to the hospital to be checked out and interviewed. police say they are look for a white or latino man about 6 feet tall between 180 to 200 pounds. he had black hair and a

mustache and had a black shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. of course police are asking anyone with information about this case to get in contact with them. we are live in oakland. ktvu channel 2news. >> there has been approach in a 25-year-old homicide case in san jose a 38-year-old kathy zimmer a mother of two disappeared in march of 1989. her body was found in her car at san jose airport. police say she was strangled. last month the case was reopened and photographs of the quilt her body was wrapped in were released. investigators say that tested dna from the clothing led to the arrest of her husband. 66-year-old david zimmer and his 69-year-old brother robert zimmer. >> the kind of dna technology and science technology science we have today didn't exist ten years ago let alone in 1989. >> prosecutors say that money may have been the motive. they say david zimmer got more than $400,000 after his wife

died. the money came from the sale of their home and a life insurance pay out. prosecutors say the couple was separated at the time of her death. >> a 10-year-old boy is home safe after disappearing for several hours. as we first reported on the 10:00 news police eventually found him playing video games at a friend's house. his family reported him missing yesterday afternoon after he didn't come home from school. he lives less than four block away. police were worried since he is hatian and french is his primary language. language. >> happening today labor groups plan to protest outside whole food stores. they claim that the chain fired a worker who stayed home with her disabled son during a january snowstorm in chicago. they want the woman to get her job back. whole foods won't discuss it but said they have a clear policy on absences.

they said that no single event would lead to a firing. a rally is scheduled at berkeley next wednesday over disputed farmland in albany owned by the university students and community groups say it should be a public farmland space and not be developed into a senior living facility and grocery store. earlier this week the albany city council paveed the way for that development plan. supporters of the project say its needed in the area but critics say that the units will still cost to much for most. >> police are asking for help to find a thief caught committing the crime on surveillance video. officers say the man robbed a woman at the bank of america atm on fremont at about 6:45 thursday morning. they say he grabbed the money from the woman's hand and then made her go back to the atm and withdraw cash two more times. police say that he grabbed the woman's car keys keys and threw them into a bush before taking off in this red corolla with utah license plates. >> i don't hear of anything happening at this bank.

that was kind of a shocker. >> police say that the man they are look for is 20 to 30, about 5'11'' 1 with a thin build. anyone with information is asked to call the police department. people who drive ford trucks and vans in sonoma are told to watch for thieves. police have received 13 reports of ford vehicle that have been stolen or broken into. they say that the thieves steal the vehicles, take it to a second location to strip it and then dump what's left at a third location. nine of the reported cases whether from the same area. the crimes usually happen between ten and five. >> in this morning's weekly address the president repeated his call to raise the nation's minimum wage. >> it's time for 1010. it's time to give america a race. it's time to restore opportunity for all. >> the president wants the minimum wage bumped from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour. he said that would lift the

wages for 28 million people across the united states. he said that many small and big companies support the effort because they will benefit by keeping worker who stay for more pay. opponents fear businesses will lay off employees to cut costs. the latest jobs report turned out better than many expected. according to the labor department 1 75,000 people got new jobs last month. economists say that's surprising because of the severe winter weather most of the country has within -- been dealingw. the national unemployment rate rose to 6.7%. here in california more than 31,000 people lost their jobs last month. the bay area did see a slight increase in the number of people without jobs. in solano the rate jumped from 7.3% in december to 8.1 in january. rates in san francisco, marin and san mateo are the lowest in the state. napa and santa clara are below the national average as well. u. tomorrow is daylight saving time. that means you need to set your

same day as the deadline to comply with new laws aimed at more accurate reports of stats for serious crimes in and around campus. >> supporters of a bill cracking down on cyber bullying say they believe it'll get the two thirds vote necessary in the state legislature to be law next january. audrey's law is named after a 15-year-old audrey pott the couldn't who committed suicide in september after pictures came up of her drunk and passed out. three classmates were sentenced fora soughting her -- assaulting her and taking the photographs. her mother said that current laws provide to much protection for sex offenders. >> there was no public conviction, no element of acknowledgement or deterr aps and no remorse or apology. >> audrey's law would let juveniles who assault victim who are drunk and passed out to be tried as adults. that would make it possible for them to face stiffer sentences.

the bill also makes cyber bullying a crime and a felony in some cases. officials have given the green light to the new computer based testing system. the new tests will be given to three million this spring in grades k through 12. they area shrined with the new standards in classrooms. the so-called smarter balance tests will replace what is known as a star test. the new tests designed to be taken on computers rather than with pencils and papers. >> let's turn to rosemary. a lot of little league parades. >> yeah. just going to be a nice one. we are dealing patchy fog. we showed you a few shots over areas of the bay, along the coast line. let's give you a few of those shots. first over the bay point area with mostly sunny skies and isn't that just a beautiful view of the sun on its way up. high clouds in the forecast for

today. ridge of high pressure strengthening but not everybody enjoying that sun. here say look across the bay. low clouds, patchy fog reported at times. along the coastline it's gray in areas like pacifica and half moon bay. we will see this burn away. i will show you in just a moment. here say look at the high clouds starting to sweep over the bay area and the low clouds beneath it. we move through your day we are going to have high clouds in the forecast. we will have nice weather. we are talking temperatures back into the low 70's for some of the warmer locations. we will look at those coming up. five hundred miles off the coastline this next system is on its way in. its going to bring some rain to northern california can, late tonight, early tomorrow, for us, it's going to hold off until at least sunday, sunday night for most of us. let me show you. we will go through the next couple of days, seven you can see the pockets of low clouds off the coastline just inside the bay. as we get into ten, 11 it starts to burn away. we will be left with just the mostly sunny skies and the high

clouds for the first half of the day. into the evening sunsets about 6:10 this evening. notice the thicker clouds starting to move in just a little over the north bay but still some nice weather into sunset. into the overnight hours the cloudses start to thicken up. we are into sunday morning now and we will wake up mostly cloudy, tomorrow going to look a lot different than what we have today. you can see a few spring manies here into areas right around lake county, perhaps the northern edge of sonoma. this area has a slight pocket of picking up a few sprinkles on sunday. the rest of us will be mainly dry, you can see from the forecast model it doesn't look like the north bay will pick up a lot. into eight on sunday we have that rain line now, as we get in to the overnight hours it slides through, by monday morning we are drying out. it looks like this system will tim late in the evening between sunday night and monday morning. as far as rainfall as we get in to the overnight hours it starts to accumulate. looks like for most of us a

animation and fantasy lovers coming together for the wizard world sacramento comic con. the three day event features stem seminars and lectures and vendors selling everything from art work to swords. some of guest stars include stanley, will william shatner and more. >> the costumes and the crowd. >> i think it's outstanding. it's wonderful. >> and by the end of weekend hundreds of fan also have filled the sacramento convention center's main exhibit hall. most of the tickets have been sold out. the only tickets left include vip tickets and tickets for sunday. new problems popped up for boeing and it's high tech dream liner. they said that the issue involves about 40 of the 787 dream liners in production and not the 122 currently in service. the company said that hair line cracks have been found in the wings, apparently because of a

change in the manufacturing process by the wing's producer. last year all dream liner was grounded more than three months because of battery issues. microsoft is preparing to end support and upgrades for its xp operating system. as of april a microsoft will retire the operating system which first shipped in 2008. the director of windows said the company can't afford to support it forever. he said that it's common practice to retire out dated programs, microsoft is telling people to upgrade to its window's 8 operating system. >> major merger announcement could mean big lay offs in one city. the deal between safeway and albertsons and. >> and he lost his life fighting terrorists on board flight 93. the documentary just done about the bay area's mark binghan and where you can see it. who died on september 11th identifying the terrorist -- fighting the terrorists who took over flight 93 a new documentary recounts his life story for a hometown audience. >> its clear that mark and other people on flight 93 knew that their flight wasn't intended to land. >> reporter: his life cut short fighting the terrorists on board flight 93 is now being told on the silver screen. that started a 12 year trip to bring his story to everybody. >> it's about a mother, a son, and what is takes to be a hero. i think what audiences are coming away with is being inspired by this beautiful mother and son story. >> reporter: the film makers say while the events around his death are a part of his life story it's just a small part of a unique character. the film traces his story starting with his close

relationship with his mother. alice has seen the film and said its emotional for her every time. >> it's hard for me to watch some parts. i learned a lot about my son. i didn't know he smoked. >> reporter: rather than focus on his death they focused on his life. growing up in loss gatos, attending berkeley, coming out as a gay man. playing rugby and combating sstereotypes. >> it seems his whole life preparing for this last day. >> reporter: she is glad that more people can learn about her son's life and how he died. she said that even now more than a decade after his death she still is learning from him. >> i realize there are things i need to stand up and fight for because mark can no longer dot. i need to stand up against terrorists for example. >> that was christian reporting. there will be a screening in san jose today. it's at 12:30 in the afternoon at the california theater there on first street.

missing plane carrying 239 people. government officials say that it may have crashed in the sea near vietnam. good morning. welcome back to mornings on 2. >> good morning. we will have the latest on that news in just a minute. first let's go over to rosemary for a quick look at the weather. >> reporter: yes. good morning. spring like weather in the forecast for today as we get in to the afternoon, back in to the 70s for some of us. outside this morning high clouds overhead, low clouds as well. those high clouds may be all about you notice for the afternoon because we will have mostly sunny skies and a few high clouds, this morning at this hour some of the low clouds just inside the bay. along the coastline we are mostly gray. in to the nine, 10:00 hour it should burn away. into 11 just a little bit of haze still here in side the bay. then we are left with again mostly sunny skies for saturday an. for today, once we get past the low clouds these cool temperatures, we have some

for a missing airliner. there is word that several passengers were using stolen passports of people from austria and italy. recovery crews believe they may be zeroing in on the wreckage. the airline flight to china suddenly vanished from air traffic control screens yesterday morning. it's believe that the plane went down two hours after takeoff. this morning the vietnam air force said its spotted off the southern coast two large oil slicks, six to nine miles long, believed to have come from that jet. 239 people were on board including three americans. >> i want to -- really hard that this -- that they are all safe and we are trying to do everything in our powers to find where the plane is. really just where that is. touched at least one of them inappropriately. the girls returned to their class and told a teacher and that prompted the lockdown and police investigation. students say that they had to stay put while police septembered. >> police investigated. >> we had to stay in the class. >> we were just in class and the principal said someone was on the loose. >> reporter: some parents were upset that they weren't getting more information out of the school at the time. the girls that were in question here were taken to children's hospital in oakland to be checked and interviewed. police say that they are looking for a white or latino man about 6 feet tall between 180 to 200 pounds and investigators say that he had black air and a mustache and he was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. anyone with information is asked to come forward. we are live in oakland.

>> bail has been increased to $17 million for a teacher accused of abusing students. the 32-year-old pled not guilty to molestation. until a few days ago he taught english and science in richmond. he is a accused of molesting students at richmond's making ways charter school from december of 2012 to october of last year when he worked there. >> this did fall through the cracks, but that we are going to make ame nds and do better. fortunately this person was caught before they did any damage to our students. >> the west contra costa school board president said he was planning a three day overnight field trip next month to yosemite with students without the principal's knowledge. his bail went up to 17 million because of added felony charges including kidnapping and assault of a child. >> a police officer was killed and a second one injured after

their car hit a dump truck. it happened yesterday morning in beverly hills. nicholas lee and a rookie female officer were responding to a call at the time of the crash. lee died at the scene. authorities are looking into if the brakes failed on the truck which was headed down a hill. the rookie officer graduated three months ago and had a concussion in the crash. officer lee was a 16 year veteran of the department. >> he is a training officer. he was engaged in that business when this happened. he had a trainee with him. he was extremely well regarded for his ability as a training officer. >> high was also among those who recorded a special birthday video for a 7-year-old boy with leukemia. the video was posted just four days ago and has more than 17,000 views. the officer leaves behind a wife and two children. friendses and family are mourning the death of a teen

who died in a car accident. the 17-year-old of danville was killed thursday morning when his car went down a elm bankment and hit a tree. it happened off highway 24 and lafayette. the chp said he was speeding and may have been raise, racing another vehicle. he was a student at fusion academy in walnut creek. 's tended san ramone. friendses and family gathered in pleasant hill yesterday to say their good-byes to 14-year- old jenna. she died sunday after being hit by a train. investigators say she ran onto the tracks to pick up a cell phonism had dropped. the pastor of the church where the funeral was held said her death was to soon and to tragic and she had made a lasting impact during her life. >> police are cracking down on the area's latino gangs. teams spread out across the county checking on known gang members for probation

violations. they say they focused on the canal district where they say the gone is dominant. they say its been under attack by their rival. >> when people are being shot, people are being stabbed and it's life and death, then that is the number one thing. >> police say there have been five shootings in recent weeks including a point blank hit at a downtown restaurant. last night officers searched 25 homes and made four arrests. they took many weapons including knives. a family said they are counting their blessings after escaping from an apartment fire. late thursday night kevin sampson awoke to find his apartment on fire he said he immediately woke up his wife and their 3-year-old grandson. sampson is now recovering from a broken ankle at the medical center and said that the only thing on miss mind was escaping. >> the room was just hot. so it's coming in here. it's on its way. you heard the fire.

you know the rumble of the fire. that told me to get out of there. >> the only way out was the second story bedroom. he dropped his grandson to another family member who was 25 feet below. his wife broke her pelvis and had a concussion. the fire may have started in the kitchen. >> a big mold problem has shut down the fire station on treasure island. officials found it just this week. the firefighters union said that some members have been complaining about the mold at station 48 for years. we obtained photographs taken by firefighters that show the mold under the sink as well as on a carpet. firefighters say the conditions have caused problems. >> to my knowledge nobody has gone off on any of those injuries here. >> i guess the maintenance bill is coming due and it's large. >> they will operate out of a

nearby training facility until it's fixed. >> an investigation into a slaughter house at the center of a massive recall may be bigger than previously thought. last month the u.s.d.a. recalled nearly 9 million bound poundses of beef. the company is a accused of buying cows with canner trying cows with cancer. yesterday an official said the investigation involves more than just cows with cancer. he said that 44,000 establishments received products tied to that recall which is more than was first reported. today haywood will share the results of a study of what people want to see. they started asking what residents wanted to see chide. many areas of concern include safety, education, public facilities and housing. an open house will be held starting at nine at city hall. haywood employees will be on hand to answer questions. public meetings are also going

plane. the malasia airlines flight was headed from kuala lumpur, malasia to beijing, china. air traffic controllers lost track of it not long after it took off. vietnamese air force planes discovered those oil slicks, which are described as six and nine miles long. officials say the slicks are consistent with what would be left by fuel from a crashed jetliner. in china, family members of passengers were inconsolable as they went to the beijing airport looking for answers. officials say the weather was clear when the plane dropped from the radar screens. last week, cnn did a story with malasia airlines. the copilot featured in that story, as seen here sitting on the right, he is among the people now missing. >> we are looking at all possibilities, but it's too early to make any constructive remarks. i would just like to say that our thoughts and prayers are

chicago. protesters say she was terminated after she missed work to take care of her special needs son after the schools there closed because of the bitter weather they have been dealing with in the midwest this winter. i've talked with an organizer. she tells me that the protest will not be picketing or anything like that, but a leaflet campaign to raise awareness about the issue. i've had a chance to speak with representatives from whole foods. they tell me that they can't discuss too much about this particular issue because it is a personnel issue, but they do say they do have clear policies outlining attendance and absences. they say no employees would be terminated for one absence that, there would be a dialogue with that employee to make them aware of an ongoing situation. the protest is set to get under way at the whole foods in berkeley. we've heard the protest was set to get under way at 9:00 here at this particular whole foods. we're hearing 11:00 a.m. for the whole foods in oakland. now, we will continue to monitor the situation here in berkeley and oakland and bring you developments throughout the

reopened and photos of the quilt her body was wrapped in were released. investigators say recently tested dna from her clothing led to the arrest of her husband, 66-year-old david zimmer, and his 69-year-old brother, robert zimmer. >> the kind of dna technology, forensic science technology we have today didn't exist 10 years ago, let alone in 1989. >> prosecuters say money may have been the motive for the killing. they say david zimmer got more than $400,000 after his wife's death. the money came from the sale of their home and a life insurance payout. prosecuters say the couple was separated at the time of her death. fremont police are asking for help to find a thief caught committing a crime on surveillance video. officers say the man robbed a woman at the bank of america atm on fremont boulevard about 6:45 thursday morning. they say he grabbed the money from the woman's hand, then made her go back to that atm and withdraw cash two more times. police say he then grabbed the woman's car keys and threw them into a nearby bush before

. the university of california has expanded its policy against sexual violence on campus to include new reporting requirements. the change comes two weeks after more than 30 students filed federal lawsuits against the system. the victims are claiming uc mistreated or ignored their reports of sexual violence. yesterday, uc president janet napolitano says the new policy offers broader protection, as well as more education for students and staff. the students filing the lawsuits say they are still not satisfied. >> i have a big stake in making sure the university definitely handles this correctly. as a survivor, it's unacceptable that people have to go through such a terrible process. it's often worse than the assault itself. >> the new changes came the same day as the deadline for universities to comply with revised federal laws aimed at more accurate reporting of statistics for serious crimes in and around campus. supporters of a bill cracking down on cyber bullying say they believe it will get the two-thirds vote necessary in the state legislature to

on santa clara avenue, which is near highway 580. firefighters say one person died after suffering injuries in that residential fire. no other details have been released. happening today, a popular grocery chain under fire. whole foods is accused of not being tolerant to the needs of one of its workers who is also a mother. ktvu's christien kafton is live this morning in berkeley with the demonstration set for this morning. >> reporter: yeah, we are on hand here at the whole foods in berkeley, waiting for the protest to begin. it's not just this whole foods in berkeley and the one in oakland. it's at whole foods shops across the whole country. a coalition of women's groups and labor groups are organizing the protest, angry over the firing of a whole foods worker in chicago. protesters say she was terminated after she missed work to take care of her special needs son after the schools there closed because of the bitter winter weather they have been dealing with in the midwest. i talked to an organizer early this morning. she tells me the protests will not be pickets, but a leaflet and flyer campaign to raise

customer awareness about the issue. we had a chance to speak with whole foods. whole foods says it cannot discuss personnel issues, but did say they have clear policies outlining attendance and absence and say that no employee would be terminated for a single absence and that there would be a dialogue. the employee involved would receive a lot of notification about attendance issues. we have learned both protests are scheduled to start at 11:00, one here at the whole foods in berkeley, another one at a whole foods in oakland. we will have coverage on this throughout the day. for now, live in berkeley, christien kafton, ktvu channel 2news. a new state campaign is trying to put better foods in stores. the campaign unveiled this week is based on the idea that people are only as healthy as what is offered at their nearest stores. a lot of the focus will be on children and what is sold in stores near schools. a survey by the healthy stores for a healthy community campaign found that a majority of bay area stores near schools sell mainly tobacco, alcohol, and sugary products. an investigation into a petaluma slaughterhouse at the

center of a massive recall may be bigger than previously thought. last month, the usda recalled nearly 9 million pounds of beef from the rancho feeding corporation. the company is accused of buying cows with cancer and trying to deceive inspectors. yesterday, a top food safety official said the investigation involves more than just cows with cancer. he also said 44,000 establishments received products tied to the recall, which is much more than what was first reported by the usda. bail has been increased to $17 million for an east bay teacher accused of sexually abusing students. the 32-year-old pleaded not guilty yesterday to child molestation charges. anal few days ago, he did teach seventh grade english and science in richmond. he is accused of molesting several students at richmond's making waves charter school from december of 2012 to october of last year, when he

worked there. >> this did fall through the cracks, but that we are going to make amends and do better. fortunately, this person was apprehended before they did any damage to our students. >> the west contra costa unified school board president said he was planning a three- day overnight field trip next month to yosemite with students without the principal's knowledge. his bail went up another million and a half to 17 million due to added felony charges, including kidnapping and aggravated assault of a child. a los angeles police officer was killed and a second officer was injured after their patrol car collided with a dump truck yesterday morning in beverly hills. police say a 40-year-old officer, nicholas lee, and a rookie female officer, were responding to a call at the time of the crash. lee died at the scene. authorities are looking into whether the brakes failed on the truck, which was headed down a hill. the rookie female officer in lee's patrol car graduated from the academy three months ago and suffered a concussion in that crash. officer lee was a 16-year veteran of the department. >>he's a training officer, he was engaged in that business when this occurred.

he had trainee with him, extremely well regarded for his ability as a training officer. >> lee was also among the officers who recently recorded a special birthday video for a 7-year-old rhode island boy who has leukemia. that video was posted just four days ago. it already has more than 17,000 views. officer lee leaves behind a wife and two young daughters. friends and family are mourning the death of an east bay teenager who died in a car accident. 17-year-old an though gross sew of danville was killed thursday morning when his car went down an embankment and hit a tree. it happened near the pleasant hill road exit in lafayette. police say he may have been racing another vehicle before the crash. he was a student at fusion academy in walnut creek. he also attended san ramon valley high school until his sophomore year. friends and family gathered in pleasant hill yesterday to say their good-byes to 14-year-old jenna betty. betty died sunday in martinez after being hit by a freight train. investigators say she ran onto the tracks to pick up a cell phone that she had dropped.

tsunami that hit japan. the group will meet around 11:00. it will hold a rally around noon at the bridge plaza. the magnitude 9 earthquake and the following tsunami left nearly 20,000 people dead or missing and damage continues to devastate that area. well, piece by piece, the old eastern span of the bay bridge is being dismantled. as you can see from pictures from news chopper 2, much of the upper deck has now been removed. cal trans says it has replaced most of the heavy concrete and steel base at the lower deck with timber mass to lighten the weight of the bridge, all in preparation for the midspan separation that is set to begin in the next three or four weeks. well, bay area girls who want the perfect prom dress but can't afford it will be able to get one for free today. the princess project started giving away dresses about an hour ago in san francisco and the organization will be giving away donated dresses at a building on market and church street for the next two weekends. the project has given away more than 20,000 dresses since 2002. any girl with a valid high

. an activist group is taking responsibility for vandalizing three red light cameras in oakland, with pink paint. now it, happened hours after the city council approved a controversial surveillance center at the port of oakland to try to improve security. even though those vandalized cameras aren't part of the program, the group says it wanted to make a statement about privacy rights. critics fear the city will tap into traffic cameras in the future to spy on people. >> you would never know when information will be used in the future and the repercussions of allowing things now versus 20 years from now. >> the cameras vandalized with pink paint were at market and

36th street and northgate at 27th street. those cameras have already been cleaned up. today, the city of heyward will share the results of a study of what people say they would like to see happen to their city over the next 25 years. 18 months ago, the city started asking residents what they like to see change. many areas of concern include safety, education, public facilities, and housing. an open house began at 9:00 a.m. at city hall. heyward employees will be on hand to answer questions. public meetings will be held in the next few months. people who rely on muni to get around san francisco will have a chance today to sound off. muni is holding on town hall meeting on possible service changes and its budget. the transit agency is considering altering routes as part of a project to streamline service. today's meeting starts in just about 15 minutes at the muni headquarters on south market. 700,000 people ride muni daily. tesla has reportedly ruled out california as a place to build a new battery factory for

. well, firefighters say a broken pipe from a sprinkler system sent a massive stream of water out of the 12th story of the building, right down onto the sidewalk in san francisco's financial district. it happened yesterday morning at the one kearney building located at market and kearney. witnesses say the water fall event lasted for about 15 minutes and it made a bit of a miss. no injuries were reported. play ball! it is opening day at some youth baseball little leagues across the bay area today. in contra costa, they were all decked out with bright new unis. the parade started at sequoia middle school and ended at the sports complex, pleasant oaks field. first pitch, just a few minutes away at 10:00. the nba and the golden state warriors are paying a special tribute to bay area cancer patients as part of their hoops for st. jude's week. last night, warrior forward david lee met with 12-year-old

those cats. this weekend, sweetwater, texas is home to the 56th annual world's largest rattle snake round-up. yikes! the event began over 050 years ago as a way to control the snake population. in addition to catching rattle snakes, the weekend includes the miss snake charmer pageant, snake handling demonstrations and a coin, gun and knife show. the rattle snake round-up is attracted to attract roughly 50,000 people from around the world. >> if you can make it out to sweetwater, sure. why not? swing by the rattle snake roundup. >> maybe not my thing. rosemary, how about you? >> no! not at all! >> i'm with you, no!
