breaking news this afternoon, a falling tree killed a woman as she was driving on interstate 80. the tree fell into the far right lane, crushing her toyota. she died instantly. highway patrol officers oned scene. the county coroner has responded. the victim's identity has not been released but we were told she was 23 years old. traffic has been slow due to the traffic. >> >> new developments on the shooting of a san francisco police officer. the person accused of pulling the trigger. police say the 28-year-old officer was shot at florida street in san francisco's mission district yesterday afternoon. as we reported, a vehicle believed to be involved was tracked down in daily city.

no sign of the shooter. another vehicle linked to the gunman was spotted in richmond. after several high-speed chases, and arrest was made. >> >> we get the latest from kristin, live where the arrest was made with surveillance video of that koop tour. >> christian? >> the ride overnight chase came to an end. the whole thing was captured by surveillance cameras. gas station surveillance cameras captured the final moments of a wild chase through the east bay. the driver put his armed out of the window. officers pull a man out of the car and wrestle him to the ground. investigators say he was the man behind the wheel in saturday's officer involved shooting. investigators say 28-year-old police officer adam shaw and

his partner approached a different car in the mission district. that car backed up into the officers, witnesses say they heard gunshots. >> after the shots stopped, i saw a police officer, with another policeman holding his shoulder area. i thought they were holding the suspect, but as i got closer, it was another police officer holding him. >> reporter: police say following the daytime shooting, they learned more information that lead them to the shooters when they tried to pull him over, he took off, driving as fast as 120-miles an hour until officers managed to puncture his tire. he drove eight more miles before he stopped at this gas

station. officers detained two women in the mercedes. police questioned them and released them. police say this is still under investigation and will not say if they are looking for suspects. the last we got was that officer shaw was in serious conditions and is in good spirits and is expected to survive his injuries. >> >> happening now, traffic is backed up along northbound interstatele 80 in oakland after a fatal accident. you can see the traffic on the left hand side of your screen, southbound traffic that appears to be also affected. the crash happened shortly after 3:00 this afternoon. one person died at the scene. another person was injured and had to be taken to the hop. the highway patrol is looks into reports that a person was trying to run away from the scene after that happened. the cause of the crash is under investigation. >> >> one man dead after an

overnight crash and police say his friend is responsible. what witnesses saw him doing afterwards, kristina? >> reporter: witness witnesses say they saw him trying to walk away from the crash after his passenger was still in the car, who later died. you can see some of the debris scattered on this intersection. cell phone video and photos obtained by ktvu so rescue workers on the scene of a deadly accident. could cars collided. the after math is still visible on the street. >> i heard like a big sound like a boom. i didn't know exactly what happened. >> reporter: police are trying to figure out how the two vehicles slammed into each other, leaving a ripple effect of traffic damage.

the ktvu app -- . early yesterday, flight 377 vanished. passengers include three americans. -- other two americans are children, four-year-old and a two-year-old. some reports indicate they are siblings, but it's not known if they were traveling with their parents on. u.s. officials are saying it's way too soon to tell if the jet was brought down intentionally, but in addition to stolen passports used by two passengers, there are signs of trouble. the latest on the accident.
