time. 580 dublin to livermore. that looks good. let's go back to the desk. breaking news in fremont where crews are on the scene of three different fires all reported in the same area. again, we are live outside james leech elementary school. the fire here was reported at a portable building there on campus. police are also on the scene of a second fire at a public bathroom at a park right down the street from the school. the third fire at a building at a nearby little league field. all three fires were reported at about 3:00 this morning. firefighters and police both investigating at this penalty. ktvu alex savidge is there. he will have a live report coming up at 5:00. after shocks are expected for the next few days in humboldt county.

the earthquake hit at 10:18 last night. at least 12 after shocks have been reported since. no tsunami warning has been issued. j a suspect connected to the shooting of san francisco police officer is now in custody. ktvu channel 2 reporter tara moriarty is joining us from san francisco general hospital where the police officer is still recovering. tara. >> reporter: yeah 28-year-old officer adam shaw is recovering from shoulder surgery that he had. meanwhile his attacker is in jail. >> officer shot. units in the area. >> reporter: this is audio pulled from the initial 911 call and this is surveillance video of 5078-year-old jeffrey ruano being arrested early yesterday morning. that followed a nine-hour man

hunt through four counties. it all began saturday afternoon in san francisco's mission district. officer shaw and his partner stopped ruano to question him about vandalism. shots were fired when he started backing up his car toward officers. officer shaw was shot in the shoulder. after asking the chp for help, ruano was spotted in richmond and that sighting started the police chase. live from san francisco i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. the last two days have been agonizing for the relatives of more than 200 people on board a plane that has gone missing. an international search has not found any lanes of malaysia air flight. but the family of one american is is hoping that he is somehow still alive. >> reporter: without any answers, the family of phillip

flight, interpoll says two of the passengers had used passports stolen to board the plane. the tickets for those two passengers were later found to be purchased together. the misery has fueled theories of terrorism. but officials say it's too early to draw any conclusions. the stolen passports may have been used for illegal embrace. the family of phillip wood hopes for a miracle. >> i'm crossing my fingers that maybe there is a happy ending to this. back here in the bay area new information this morning on the east bay teacher accused of molesting children. we are now hearing ronald ginto was the executive director of camp epic. that is an out door leadership school for people from fifth grade to the college level.

he is being held in jail at this point. new this morning san francisco police are searching for a suspect in an attempted carjacking in the richmond district. police say they are searching for a man who tried to carjack the victim at gunpoint on clement and 12th street. when the victim did not comply the man fired his gun into the air and ran. the suspect was last seen walking toward park. we could learn the identity today of an oakland woman killed when a tree fell on highway 80. that -- the woman was driving in the far right lane when a tree fell and landed directly on her car. investigators now trying to determine who owns the land that, that tree was on. >> we do not believe it belonged to the state because of the fence line. but we are still investigating that. >> the accident blocked the

freeway for almost two hours. the road has since reopened. time is 4:36. the chp looking for the driver that left the and of a deadly crash. that happened at about 3:15 yesterday afternoon when a black sedan and mini van crashed on northbound 880. the mini van flipped over killing the male driver. the passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital. the chp says the driver of the car took off on foot. also new this morning, a new study shows more americans are taking public transportation instead of driving to their destination. the american public transportation association says americans took nearly 10.7 billion trips on public transportation this last year. here in the bay area cal train marked record ridership last year with an 11% daily increase. bart's ridership is higher than ever with a record 400,000

trips being made on most days. a program that would allow shuttle buses to use muni could be stalled for months. protestors say the shuttles have increased genderification leading to higher rent and evictions. the board will vote on the appeal april 1st. the price at the the pump continues to go up. gas prices have jumped ten cents over the past two weeks. that put the average at $3.51. california the average is much higher at $3.89. hoar is a look at where gas prices stand right now. san francisco drivers are paying an average of $3.92 a gallon. san jose $3.86. in oakland people are paying $3.84 to fill up the tank. today a bay area lawmaker

plans to introduce lawmakers from sabotaging pg&e substations. the bill would help to prevent coordinated attacks that could cause wide spread blackouts. last april 17 transformers were destroyed in a coordinated sniper attack near san jose. the new legislation would require electric utilities in california to develop better security systems. police are warning people who live in the east bay about someone possibly posing as a worker for east bay mud. a ford truck was stolen thursday night. authorities are concerned the thief might try to impersonate a water district employee because a work badge, hard hat, and safety vest were all inside the truck. the vehicle bears the number 896. california license plate number 128-5077. investigators say it was

if i would have known i was going to live this long i would have taken better care of myself. >> i think we have heard that before. incredible man. he is a legendary bay area pilot celebrating his 100th birthday. dozens of friends infamingly joined him at the san carlos airport to celebrate. he was born just 11 years after the wright brother's flight. he started his own flying here in 1973 at a south bay airstrip that is no longer there and a plane that didn't have any brakes. >> i made my first airplane solo off the stanford campus. they had an airport south of the stadium. >> he earned his engineering
