she charged with abusing six boys. tonight we are hearing from mother who said he tried to recruit her son to a youth camp started by the teacher. tonight 2 investigates the ties to several bay area schools. ktvu's eric rasmussen is here with what you found. >> reporter: officials say he was going to take another group of boys to yosemite next month before he was arrested last week. now one mother says he made the same kind of offer to take her son a few years ago. >> reporter: she went threw range of emotions when she learned the charges of sex abuse against ron guinto. >> grief. i feel so bad for him, why, why. and then i am like no, how could you. how could you. >> last week when she heard ron guinto was accused of molesting

six boys her past encounter with ron guinto didn't add up. >> lied about his age. grown man. he told me he was 19. >> reporter: he was pushing his youth group. >> he was all over me as soon as we found yad boy. wanted my son immediately. gave me -- found out i had a boy. wanted my son valedictorian. gave me -- son immediately, gave me his car. >> ron guinto was a student teacher while working on his masters. when we called the camp we heard this voice message and a rural to the website -- referral to the website. she speaking is up to encourage other victims to come forward. >> come forward and not be ashamed. it wasn't their fault.

>> reporter: last week ron guinto plead not guilty to 27 counts related to sex abuse and kidnapping. his attorneys said they are waiting on more information. eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. charges on hold for a man arrested in connection with a shooting of a san francisco police officer as investigators search for evidence. adam shaw was scheduled to undergo more surgery today. he suffered a wound to the warm on saturday. investigators say they are trying to determine whether adam shaw was shot by the driver or his partner but they say they won't know till they recover the missing bullet. >> we are not charging the suspect with shooting the officer because we have no evidence of that. >> the suspect jeffery ruano was arrested in san jose on sunday. police say he was found with ammunition but not gun.

a man who told authorities he planned to start a revolution was convicted offend murder today. byron williams was convict offend trying to kill four chp officers in 2010. prosecutors said he had weapons in his truck when he was stopped by chp and began shooting. he planned to kill people. contra costa county sheriffs investigators are looking for a gunman who shot and killed one man and wounded three others. the shooting happened saturday night while the victims were outside of a home. authorities identified the man killed as a 23-year-old, the other victims are expected to survive. she the second person -- he is the second person killed this year in the area. there are new develops in the case of a man accused of plotting with his brother to

murder his own wife. now ktvu channel 2 news learned about a move by prosecutors. she was strangled in 1989 and her body was covered in a quilt. ktvu's robert handa was in court as her husband faced murder charges in her death. >> reporter: there were increeking developments today -- intriguing developments today. david zimmer appeared stoic as we walked in today with his attorney. the 66-year-old plead not guilty to murdering his estranged wife 25 years ago. she disappeared near san jose state university university on march 8, 1989. found two days later strangled to death in her car. the defense attacked the contention that they acted together to kill her. >> he did not do this nor did he help anybody do this.

>> reporter: he ridiculed the notion he killed her for financial reasons. >> people aren't going to believe she sold the -- he sold the house and got insurance funds, that means he had a motive to kill his wife. >> reporter: he reveled he testified in a grand jury hearing two weaks ago -- weeks ago. >> did they find there was not enough evidence and the da filed a complaint? >> reporter: the prosecutor said there is evidence that has not been revealed about his financial motives and as ktvu reported, documents show there is dna evidence linking him to her body. he dismissed the notion the grand jury's lack of action indicates a lack of evidence. >> either way whether it goes before a grand jury or a magistrate, a magistrate has to sign an arrest warrant to get

into court. >> reporter: he is being held without bail. we reached out to her daughter and we were told she does not plan to attend court proceedings at this time. robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. animal services directer is on leave as police investigate a personnel matter. the police department over seas animal services. he has only been on the job for two months and ktvu spoke with him. he wants told why police placed him on leave just told they are investigating a complaint. he said i am baffled, i am trying to figure out what it could be. i am looking forward to when they ask me to talk about it. two more workers spraid by acid today add the tesoro refinery in contra costa county a month after a similar incident there. the tesoro refinery is near the junction of highway 4 and 6

680. ktvu's tom vacar is live with the safety concerns. >> reporter: it raises questions about tesoro refinery's ability to run a refinery. >> reporter: this morning tesoro refinery called the contra costa county as matte about -- hazmat about another spill. >> one has been released and the other is still in observation. >> reporter: tesoro refinery confirms the basic facts and says the cause of the accident ised? investigation and believe -- is under investigation and believed to be unrelated to february 12. >> the state osha shut the same unit down after the first

incident and allowed it to reopen. last week. >> reporter: after the february spill tesoro refinery refused to allow the board to enter the premises, saying it was a minor spill that gave them no jurisdiction. tesoro refinery later let them in. >> they reported equipment had been replaced. which seems like a good thing. but certainly would have destroyed evidence that -- that the investigators would have needed to get to the bottom of it. >> reporter: now more inspections are ensured. >> an inspection specific to the area of the refinery that is involved. >> reporter: workers would not have been injured had the unit was kept shut down. cal-osha said tesoro refinery did exactly what it was supposed to do.

motorcycle on highway 17 when a car drove into his path. he slammed into the suv and was thrown across the highway and died. lawmaker wants pg&e and others to tighten up their security. he announced he is amending a bill to require them to come up with a security plan to prevent attacks on their subitations. such aict -- substations. such attacks could cause power outages. >> develop security plans to one make the power delivery system less vulnerable to security threats, two, reduce the consequences of successful security breaches and three, improve the speed of power restoration. >> pg&e says it is already taking several steps in response to a report on terrorist attacks on the grid. they include better fences and
