it has happened again a person walking, hit while trying to cross the street in san francisco. this time, a tour bus struck and critically injured a man. good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> hello, everyone, i'm heather holmes. tonight, the man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries police say he was in a cross walk when he was hit by the sight seeing tour bus just after 8:00 this morning. kristina is live at the intersection with more on what the company is saying about the dent. >> >> no doubt a scary experience for everyone involved. this is a very busy intersection, even on a sunday, there are a lot of people driving through and walking through the intersections earlier today and this street is back open even though it was shut down for the majority of the morning and early afternoon. another pedestrian hit on the streets of san francisco is making crime scenes at an

intersection an all too familiar sight. police say a man in his 60s was crossing the street when he was hit. his legs were badly hurt and his belongings, including a cane were scattered on the street. >> i didn't see this happen. i can imagine what happened. >> reporter: trying to be careful walking around the city, but said it is not easy. >> there are times when people don't see you. aren't looking. i have had some close calls police say the bus driver had a green light anded pedestrian was in the middle of the cross walk. they are still trying to figure out what caused the accident. they are using for cameras nearby to gather clues. >> we have never had an issue like this. >> reporter: the vice president of grayline bus tours. the first pedestrian accident in the company's 26 year history. three people onboard were transferred to another bus our safety record is impeckcally clean. we are proud of that.

>> reporter: so far, 2014 has been a deadly year for pedestrians in san francisco. five people have been killed. most recently a -9d 0-year-old woman who was hit by a cement truck. allen welcomes any change because she said tragic accidents like these need to stop. >> it's kind of beyond word says. you can't really kind of put that into words. >> no one has been cited in this accident. that will of course change if this man passes away. at last check at general hospital, he was in critical condition. >> >> a high surself advisory in effect for bay area beaches. kid -- waves are expected to

a hijacking and somehow the plan landed safely on a remote run way. as the scope of the search widened. the malaysian country asked for additional help to try to find the missing plane. there is heavy security around the house of the pilot after officials seized his personal flight simulator. >> reporter: as the search expands to two separate corners -- police are investigating both of the men in the cockpit. the captain and his copilot. they went to both of their homes searched inside and in the case of the captain, actually, removed a homemade flight similar later that he made himself looking for clues to see if there is any indication of why this change in flight paths may have been taken. now, we did have more details about the pilots and the rest of the passengers onboard that

investigators are now looking at. take a listen. >> yesterday, officers from the royal malaysian police visited the home of the pilot. they spoke to family members of the pilot and experts are examining the pilot flight similar later. the police also visited the home of the copilot. >> meanwhile, indian vessels searching at the end of an island have suspended their search for now because malaysia, coordinating this effort is reconsidering how to best use the resources. remember, the area expanded dramatically. it used to be 14 countries involved in the effort. now, it's more than 20. malaysia is asking all of the countries to provide satellite information or radar information

the pilot that saved his passenger when he made a forced landing on the hudson river said solving the mystery of flight 370 will take a long time. >> the aviation industry never willingly tolerates this level of ambiguity. you can be assured that great efforts, huge sums will be expanded to solve this mystery even though it's likely to take months or years. >> he predicts black box recorders will likely be found because the gulf of thailand is shallower than most ocean waters. he is now retired. as he greeted the faithful in vatican city, the pope prayed for the missing passenger and crew from the flight and urgessed world to pray for them as well. he expressed sympathy for their families saying "we are close to then at this time." >> the husband of a castro

valley woman -- named a prime suspect. he has not been seen since his wife's body was discovered. deputies say he should be considered armed and dangerous. he had two registered weapons, but only one is accounted for. the couple's two children are in protective custody. it is believed he is driving a silver rav4 with paper plates. >> >> flames block out on the 1700 block of florida way t took cruels about an hour to get control of the fire, but they were able to keep it from spreading to nearby homes. one man that spotted the fire told us it didn't take long for flames to escalate. >> flames were really small in the beginning and picked up the pace after five minutes. it -- it was a huge fire, huge

a statewide amber alert. they were in the custody of their grandmother when they were abducted yesterday. they are two boys and twin one- year-old girls. police believe they were taken by their parents. the grand parents have legal custody because the father has been abusive. >> >> details on yesterday's deadly accident 0 on highway 12 in santa rosa. police say they have made an arrest on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter. he said he was looking at his cell phone when his pickup truck slammed into a toyota. two women died in this accident. they are identified as -- two men in the front injured, one remains in criminal condition. >> >> a pair of crashes on highway 101 being blamed on a woman that was allegedly driving

under the inthanks with her two- year-old daughter and husband in the car. the woman was driving a volvo when she crashed into another car north of todd road. the collision sent the other car off the highway and left the volvo disabled in the fast lane. when the three got out, another cure slammed into it, causing the volvo to hit the father. the mom and daughter were critly injured, trying to run across the highway to the shoulder of the road. the driver that hit the car was also suspected on being under the influence. police say this started around 11:15 when officers spotted a stolen s.u.v. near jefferson street. they say the driver sped off, veered off the road and crashed down the ravine. firefighters used rope and a basket stretcher to rescue the driver and her female passenger. both were taken to the

hospital. the two could face charges of felony evasion and possession of a stolen vehicle. >> >> a black lab back home with his owner after a pretty courageous, dramatic rescue. the owner fell 40 feet -- helicopter located the dog, unable to move without falling. sheriff's deputy attached himself by rope and flu down to get the dog. the whole rescue took three minutes. sheriff's officials were worried some people might get hurt or even trapped trying to rescue the dog. >> >> definitely felt -- didn't feel like winter today across most of the bay area. felt a lot like summer. giving you a live look at the san francisco. you can see the golden gate bridge. a lot of fog right now, but i was in the city, i had my

looking out towards san francisco. it's 55. san jose in the lower 70s. san francisco on track to reach the 60s, san jose will be cooler tomorrow. today in the upper 70s, tomorrow barely making it into the lower 70s for afternoon highs. san jose, the forecast for the morning commute, 43. on track to reach the lower 70s by 3:00, we'll go with 70 degrees. overnight lows expecting the readings in the 40s to the 50s. i'm expecting some clouds, partly cloudy skies or mostly clear conditions and there is a slight chance of a few -- paying us a visit. this will be dropping to the south and basically a cloud

watchful eye of the russian military, crimians have voted to succeed and join russia. president obama spoke with russian president putin and in a white house statement said the u.s. is ready to impose additional sanctions. as scott thompson reports for those watching, there are fears of where russia's true motives lie. >> reporter: people in ukraine's crimea region went to the polls to vote whether crimea should become a russian state. >> transeven if they win this vote, which i highly doubt, russia will win. >> reporter: the results are in little doubt. most of the crimians are russians and said they wanted
