tell you when it will begin to clear out. ktvu channel 2 news starts right now with breaking news. breaking news out of san francisco. california state senator leland yee among several people arrested after a massive fbi raid across the bay area. cute cameras captured this video of him in handcuffs as he arrived at the federal courthouse in san francisco soon after his arrest. here is what we know right now -- more than a dozen raids were conducted throughout this morning, including several locations in san francisco and on the peninsula and in sacramento. several people were arrested, including the state senator, and a former notorious chinatown gang leader. david stevenson was there as senator yee was brought to the federal courthouse in handcuffs and joins us live. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. i'm standing outside of leland yee's san francisco office on golden gate avenue. he's being held across the

street in the federal building ahead of a hearing set for 1:30 this afternoon. that's when we expect to get a complete picture of the federal charges the state senator now faces. take a look. we were there just after 9:00 a.m. today as yee was driven by two fbi agents into the federal building. he was handcuffed, wearing casual clothes. he had been taken into custody. he looked straight ahead and did not respond to my questions. he had served as two-time supervisor, school board member . >> you know, what flashes in my mind, that's public service. i hate seeing that situation occur. >> reporter: this was the scene at yee's sacramento office as chp officers guarded

that office as it was searched by fbi agents. they carried out a number of items out of his office. the fbi handled the bulk of the roads, calling in local law enforcement mainly to assist. a spokesman for yee's office just told me they have no comment right now. they may have a statement later this afternoon presim blue after senator yee is in court and hears the federal charges against him. reporting live in san francisco, david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you. the fbi says a raid at a home in san mateo is also connected to the arrest of say senator yee leland yee. it happened after 9:00 a.m. on 32nd avenue. agents did not say how the home was connected but they were seen removing boxes and loading them into a vehicle. the fbi is planning to release more details later this afternoon. let's go to alex savidge who is in the city's chinatown where fbi agents are still looking for evidence at one of the raid sites but there's one thing

slowing down the process. alex? >> reporter: well, good afternoon, tori. this is one of the spots raided by the fbi this morning. this building behind me along an alleyway in chinatown. it belongs to the chinese free mace -- chinese free mason. they are trying to cut open an antique safe as they search for ifd. it sounds like they -- for evidence. it sounds like they are having trouble. the fire department was called in to help open the safe. agents served a search warrant here at this location as part of this widespread criminal investigation involving state senator leland yee and the fbi does confirm they've arrested raymond chow, the president of the freemason association. these are recent photos of chow taking part in a ceremony in chinatown. he's a number of people

arrested today. agents are not revealing much about the nature of the investigation. >> this morning, the fbi is conducting multiple search warrants and arrests. we ask that you limit your questions at this time. >> reporter: according to local law enforcement agencies, though, the fbi did serve search warrants at more than a dozen locations around the bay area. many of them here in san francisco. we do know that agents stormed this multi-story at building on hyde street near broadway early this morning. we saw evidence on scene gathering evidence. one neighbor who lives in the building said she heard the commotion. >> i heard a loud thump that woke me up so i went into the hallway and i peeked my head out and there was a by leaned up against the apartment door

and i was like -- i looked at him and he was like go back in side. i was like what's going on? he said go back inside. >> reporter: and back here at the chinatown location, employees did tell me last week that senator yee issued a proclamation in support of this organization. agents remain inside this building searching for evidence in this case. we do expect they will be out here for several more hours. they are trying to get inside of an antique safe that they believe may hold evidence in this investigation. we'll be here monitoring this ongoing investigation. we're live this afternoon in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. more details on ray manned chow. alex was telling about him. he is a former member of the chinatown street gang, the hop sing boys. over the past several decades, chow has been convicted on

even hail out there. wiced up the bulling between 6:00 and -- bulk between 6:00 and 8:00. this was the radar between 6:15, the heavy rain pushing into san francisco and oakland. you can see the areas picking up over .5. we have over .10. we're adding to those eightals in the south bay. you can see the progression of the rain showers moving across the bay area. still a little bit of activity up in parts of the north bay, especially up towards napa as we come closer here. the yellows do correspond to a moderate cell producing moderate rainfall. some more showers in hayward, fremont, livermore. moving the maps to the south closer to the santa cruz mountains and the santa clara valley. this rain shower moving outside of san jose, also approaching alum rock and milpitas and moving the maps down towards the santa cruz mountains out towards scotts valley and watsonville, scattered showers and heavier rainfall outside of gilroy to the rest of 101.

we're still tracking some rain showers in the forecast for this afternoon. you can see the wider view in the pacific. all of this activity is moving out towards the sierra in the form of snow. coming up at 12:20, we still have showers to talk about and the timing of another round of heavy rain that could impact part of your weekend. that's all coming up at 12:20. >> thank you, mark. let's go to janine de la vega who spoke to chp a short time ago about the conditions on the road and joins us live from the south bay. good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon. the skies are gray and the rain is coming down as steady. it was coming down a lot harder earlier. but as you can see, it's left the roads wet. earlier that caused some numerous spinouts is and fender- benders on the highways and roads throughout the bay area. take a look at how hard the rain was coming down in contra costa county earlier this morning. this was taken by one of our photographers on highway 24 approaching the caldecott

tunnel. besides the downpower in the east bay, san francisco received a soaking. there were even some port report -- reports of hail. you can see hail here. definitely enough for umbrellas. in san jose, the roads were slippery. the california highway patrol is reminding people, even light rain is deceiving because of the oil buildup on the road. >> it's a lot more dangerous as well. it's been raining. there's a lot of oil on the roadways. it makes it a lot more slippery. you definitely want to slow it down. if you see the roads are wet. >> reporter: officers are advising drivers to keep a safe distance between their vehicle and the one in front of them. they say it's not necessary to drive the posted speed limit. they want motorists to slow down. they've been responding to accidents. they are urging people to use

the son-in-law of osama bin laden was convicted of conspiracy to kill americans today, in a new york court. he was captured in jordan last year and brought to new york for trial. he is the highest-ranking al qaeda member to go on trial in a u.s. civilian court in connection with the september 11th attacks. he now faces live in prison. his attorney says he will be appealing the jury's decision. new details this noontime in the search for malaysia

airlines flight 370. the malaysian government says satellite images show 122 objects floating in the southern indian ocean. they range in size from three feet long to 70 feet long. search teams have not reached the objects. they don't know yet if they come from the malaysia airlines boeing 777 -- boeing 777. >> this is still the most credible lead that we have. >> the acting transport minister says if they can determine the objects are from the plane, it will allow them to move onto the next phase of their operation, deep ocean search and recovery. family and friends this morning remembered a mendocino county deputy gunned down last week by a fugitive. funeral services were held in

of the recent rainfall we've been picking up. you can see on stormtracker2, the rain showers, the bulk of the activity heading out to the east and snowshowers out to the sierra. we still have activity to report up in parts of the north bay, out to solano county, napa. lingering showers around hayward, livermore, fremont as we come in closer. all of the activity it looks like out towards 238 and 680. the southern portion of the region out towards the region. down to the southern portions towards morgan hill and gilroy, that's where the southern portion is, we have rain showers to talk about. mainly 50s out there for the current levels. santa rosa right now 56. livermore, 54. san jose in the upper 50s. currently checking in, 57 degrees. we're gonna wrap up march with

a pretty active weather pattern. the first system moving in today. another one is scheduled for saturday. a third one that can be pushing into the region. the one that interests me is the one on saturday. that could be heavy. we have scattered showers off and on. a lot of breaks out there. some sunshine, breaks in the clouds. here's our south bay camera clouding things up. tomorrow is still the chance for a few showers once again into the weekend, some saturday rain paying us a visit. here's the short-term forecast. rain showers, into the afternoon showers, we have clouds, even a few popup showers. that will be the overall story. still some -- kind of a few popup showers into thursday. all of this activity is heading out to the east and a winter storm warning in place and the sierra until 11:00 thursday morning. snowfall additional could be on the order ofle to 16 inches. here's today's system. more activity. this will be the source of rain showers over the next few days.

we have to hold onto the chance for a shower for thurbs and friday especially up in the north bay. there's nothing too organized. but a lot of moisture pushing into the region. that will be the overall weather picture for thursday and friday. and then into saturday, there's the rainband. we're thinking it will move in. forecast highs this afternoon, with the sun and clouds and a few popup showers. we're talking about upper 50s to the lower of os. here is a look ahead to your five-day forecast. you can see a few spotty showers for your thursday. the chance of a shower into friday. rainfall could pick up saturday. especially saturday morning and a slight chance of a shower on saturday. you can go out there without an umbrella and then all of a sudden you get caught in the downpour. >> that tap -- happened too me yesterday -- that happened to

today is the first day of public trading for the company that makes the popular mobile game. king digital entertainment sold initial shares for $22.50 which was the middle of the expected price range but checking right now, the stock listed as king is down almost 15%. it has earned more than $560 million last year despite giving away the games but some investors fear king is a one- trick pony and will not be able to sustain its current revenue levels. coming up today at 5:00, we are continuing to follow the breaking news out of san francisco where state senator leland yee was arrested this morning on corruption charges. we have video that was fed into the ktvu newsroom just over 30 minutes ago. it shows the fbi raiding leland yee's office in sacramento. it was one of dozens of raids across the state including here in the bay area. details of yee's indictment are expected to be revealed this afternoon.
