neighborhood and tonight pg&e says it could face criminal penalties for failing to prevent that explosion in 2010 from happening. good evening. hello. i am frank somerville. >> and i am julie haener. >> we have live team coverage tonight. ktvu's paul chambers is in san bruno where residents and leaders are getting the word but we begin with tom vacar and what he learned about the criminal complaint expected to be filed. >> reporter: experts said this would be coming. tonight not officially filed we are seeing the dimensions of the indictment. the indictments for the 2010 san bruno pipeline explosion, the blast killed 8, injured scores more, destroyed 38 homes and damaged more. pg&e ceo issued a statement saying san bruno was a tragic accident that caused a great deal of pain for many people. we are accountable for that and make no excuses and we are

deeply sorry. ktvu channel 2 news learned the indictment centers on violations of the federal pipeline safety acts. it alleges record keeping violations, to know the kind and condition of its pipes, it did not manage the integrity of the pipelines and it failed to identify safety threats it should have known existed. in a statement pg&e apologized again. >> regardless of what comes next we worked hard to do the right thing for the victims, the families and the community and we will continue to do so. we have learned the lesson of san bruno that safety must always come first. >> they says though the company deserve to be indicted people responsible should be indicted too. >> the company is a company. but individuals drive the company's policies and those

reminder of -- the construction equipment is a reminder of that. >> in terms of their punishment, you know, almost like it is a matter of dollars. how much will they be fined. what does that mean to me? >> he remembers september 9, 2010. that is the day the community was rocked and changed when the pg&e pipe ruptured, causing a explosion and fire that swept through the neighborhood. it killed eight people, thejured dozens of other -- injured dozens of others and wiped out 38 homes. they spent three years rebuilding but with the reminder like today when it was stated they could face criminal charges it brings some back to that day in 2010 and gives others hope of closure. >> nothing can bring back the lives that were lost.

his senate seat. something law makers are demanding. after the school shootings at sandy hook elementary school he issued a statement about guns in the wrong hands yet leland yee and keith jackson told an undercover fbi agent they could connect him with an arms dealer in exchange for campaign donations. leland yee told the agent the arms dealer has things you guys want and that it was not a business for the faint of heart. leland yee and keith jackson are among 20 charges in the case. federal agents confirmed they arrested six others in several locations along the east coast, including new jersey, that is where authorities found marvin sullivan found 1 trafficking. -- found with gun trafficking.

demanding pg&e meet with residents. new at 6:00 p.m. finding a parking spot could be a challenge, especially in some places around the bay area. two california cities rank among the nation's top 10 worse cities. ktvu's tom vacar has the findings of a new study and the one city that is among the nation's best. >> an oakland businessman is owner of a company with a world wide reputation but it doesn't trump his problem. >> i get complaints all the time about no parking here. no parking there. we had to walk for blocks. >> reporter: near the civic center there are 12 cars in this row. 9 of those 12 have handicap plaques. they can park all day long. >> this turned into parking lot and nobody cares. >> reporter: a website did the survey that combines the cost

drove her suv over the curve and on to the tracks. as they reconstructed events based on this surveillance video investigators conclude she side swiped a car, ran into two dead end streets and ending up on the tracks. the train was going 45 miles per hour when it hit the suv. police say it appears that she was trying to escape in the seconds before the collision. >> looks like her wheels were spinning spinning. >> police -- spinning. >> police are waiting to see if drugs or alcohol were involved. f new at 6 -- new at 6:00 p.m. san francisco bay, tiny clams are a sign of things to come because they are thriving and that is bad news for the bay. ktvu's rob roth explains. >> the clam is -- [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: that is a big name

for this tiny clam. there are likely millions living in san francisco bay. >> there is a potential problem. >> reporter: because of the drought biologist with the u.s. geological survey says in rainy water it dilutes most toxins but in dry years they stay. the more in the bay the more the clams absorb and they say it could get in the food chain. >> it could potentially cause reproductive deformities in the fish and birds that eat them. >> reporter: it was responsible for massive numbers of deformities in fish andduction in the 1980s -- and ducks in the 1980s. >> when beaks are formed they could be deformed. >> reporter: they are concerned the low water levels will allow them to spread into the sacramento river.

one of the top cities for job growth according to a new study from arizona state university. riverside, california has seen the largest increase during the past year. san francisco is number two with 3.9% job growth and california as a whole is among the top states with non-chart job growth up 3% in 2013. unemployment claims fell to 311,000. the 4th straight drop and the lowest in six months and brings the rate back down to prerecession levels. 3.3million people received unemployment last week. the a's and giants back home after breaking camp in arizona. >> what they said while getting ready for tonight's game one of the bay bridge series. sports is next.
