hi, everybody, i'm beth troutman. it's time for great videos from the web and the stories behind them "right this minute." a young dog is trapped. >> in dam near a monastery. ac how a fisherman solved the firefighters rush into a burning building but soon -- >> you hear them say time to get out. >> what made them realize they were in big trouble. an eyewitness captures the eye of the storm. >> this actually happening in front of his face. >> how he turned a twister into a work of art. and a man's about to eat his own hat.
3:31 pm
literally. the very bad bet he has to pay off. >> so he is screwed. the cries of this dog were heard by fishermen. it is caught in an area in a dam near a monastery. now, the dog wasn't submerged. his paws are covered but the water is very cold. so, they did call their equivalent of 911 hoping somebody could come save the dog but there was a guy nearby who said, do you know what, i'll jump in the water. he jumps in the water and gets this dog up on the embankment and grabs the dog by the scruff of his neck and he says do you know what, as soon as i get my tennis shoes situated i'll rescue this. he's got the dog down there, thanks, man, i was cold and hungry and shivering. but the guy is having more trouble figuring out what to do with his shoes than rescuing the dog. finally he grabs the dog by the scruff of the neck again and
3:32 pm
carry him from the embankment to the other side of the dam to get him somewhere dry. once they get him to the other side there's someone else there waiting for this dog. this dog is happy to be on land. it's not clear who he belongs to and the dog runs away and comes back and runs away and finally comes back and says i need some petting. you pet me and i'll smile. >> he was really scared and they actually took the time to save him including going in the dam and the water looks really dirty, too. >> it's interesting what a stranger will do for a dog. you see a dog in distress, you immediately call somebody to say, hey, this dog needs a rescue. what can we do? >> the dog didn't put up a fight either. all right. >> i'm a puppy and i'm happy to be rescued. >> probably also happy not to be carried around by the scruff of his neck anymore. it was probably painful. >> the dog pretty much happy. firefighters in highland park, michigan, got called out to this fire and as soon as they roll up, they see their job quite cut out for them.
3:33 pm
they're going in that building, that building right there? >> yeah. fire on the first and second floor with reports of possibly people trapped inside. >> oh, wow. >> this is not just a quick knockdown. take a quick look at this and imagine getting all prepared to go into that essentially blindfolded. as soon as they go in it's pretty much lights out. can't see anything. lots of smoke. >> wow, ton of smoke. >> ton of smoke. >> can't see your hand in front of your face and they are going in looking for people, possibly pets, whatever. >> how's it looking? >> huh? >> see the guy using his ax, breaking away some of the different wall materials so they can get in there with their hoses. but there was a bit of a scary moment for this firefighter. listen. >> run, run, run. >> what? >> come on. >> yeah. >> up on the second floor. got into some soft soft and his arm and foot fell through the floor a little bit and that you hear them say time to get out. there were reports of people trapped inside but the
3:34 pm
firefighters' search turned up negative. >> go, go. come on. >> yeah. a terrifying crime spree in australia was caught on video. check this out. this guy's holding a shotgun, pointing it at customers and clerks at the store. not just demanding cash as would be expected but also actually threatening to kill them. it is an incredibly aggressive attack. you see the guy put the shotgun right to the heads of his victims. but they're able to pull off the heist at this store eventually getting away in a stolen car. police believe that the same group of people were responsible for a series of other robberies last year at multiple different locations that were just as aggressive and just as terrifying as the one we saw on video. believe it or not, the guy holding the shotgun is apparently a 17-year-old.
3:35 pm
>> surprising to see this kind of crime in australia considering there really strict gun laws there. >> police did arrest the 17-year-old and his accomplices, all six ended up pleading guilty to about 35 charges including 21 counts of armed robbery. >> 21 counts. >> the robbery happened in the uk. unfortunately this thief is targeting churches. in this surveillance video you see this man walking up to the church. apparently using a hammer to smash through the collection box to take the cash that's in there. >> come on. >> in this instance, paying in about 50 u.s. dollars. >> if this guy would have walked in and asked some people at the church, hey, look, i could use some help, he would have gotten it. >> he stole a statue of the christ child and a virgin mary and a bronze bell and he's also believed to be responsible for some other similar church robberies. >> now this guy has messed with
3:36 pm
all kind of bad vibes. you steal money from a church, you might get struck by lightning the next day, who knows. >> he had it coming. i feel a guy could do a good job commentating about grass growing or paint trying. he gets excited this fella. >> heavy rains right now, oh, yeah. could be a severe thunderstorm now. >> this guy is pretty amped up. he did just move to the oklahoma city area and maybe he's not used to seeing this kind of thing but he's just getting started because the storm starts to pick up. he says it was a microburst. watch this. >> we're getting a severe thundersto thundersto thunderstorm, holy -- [ bleep ], [ bleep ], the wind is picking up and we are getting extremely strong winds. we're getting winds in excess sf of 60 miles an hour, maybe 70.
3:37 pm
>> he's pretty good. >> is this his audition for the weather channel. >> they don't speak like this on the weather channel. >> if they did, i would watch that. >> definitely a severe thunderstorm! [ bleep ] look at the winds, the roar. this is oklahoma. >> he did say that he may have had, like, six cans of mountain dew before this which may explain his behavior in this video. >> holy [ bleep ] that was awesome. now from this is a pretty craz ahaotic which although dangerous is kind of beautiful. watch this. it was a big funnel cloud caught on camera in roseville, california. this was about 6:15 p.m. person on their second floor window caught this. this video just sped up three times. but just the juxtaposition of, you know, the darkness here of the tornado with the sky in the background, it's really beautiful. >> was the color played with? because it looks like it's just black and white and that's part of what makes it so beautiful or is that just the way it was captured because of how dark it was outside.
3:38 pm
>> i don't think so. this time of night is a really good time to take photos 6:15 when the sun is going down, a really good time to take videos this could be -- >> natural lighting? >> yeah, natural light. >> that's amazing. the car to the right pulls on out to make a turn then -- >> bam! t-boned by another car. >> why some claim the driver with the dash cam is to blame. and a motorcyclist goes from joyrider to -- >> to crime fighter. >> oh! >> how a roadside slap stops the thief in his tracks. female announcer: through sunday at sleep train's big gift event
3:40 pm
3:41 pm
welcome back to the show, everybody. and don't forget to check out rightthisminute.com. great videos all darn day long. enjoy. did you see that? show it to you again in slow-motion. there you see that little yellow car hit that big yellow bus and the car immediately burst into flames. >> it caught fire fast, too. like right in an instant. >> i almost feel like because it's such an old car, its brakes gave it. >> it could be a reason. it was still traveling and it didn't look like it slowed down and we don't see any brake lights as it's approaching. now, in this accident people are blaming the driver with the dash cam and he wasn't even involved. here you see some cars waiting at a busy intersection. now, watch what happens when the car with the dash cam pulls up to make a left-hand turn. does that car look like it's
3:42 pm
going to make a left turn or a right turn? >> the car in front of it. >> left. >> doesn't it have the blinker on, too? >> the left blinker is on and it does come on before it gets to the intersection. so the driver with the dash cam, if you can see it, he could clearly see it was blinking. he pulls up to the left side of that car, but then watch what happens next. you see the car on the right pull out, bam, t-boned by another car coming the other direction. and people on the page where this is posted say that person making a left turn probably couldn't see the car coming from the other direction. >> can't assume that the guy's going to go one direction or another. >> he just pulls to the left of him, so clearly obvious he was in the wrong here. i'm about to eat this [ bleep ]. >> yeah, did you catch that? >> he said, hi, red-it i'm about to eat this f-hat. you are thinking, what? why would you eat this? why would you eat this hat?
3:43 pm
>> it sounds like maybe it's a bet. if that happens, i'll eat my hat. >> exactly. he was in a bit cowboy thread, what he said, nicholas, if bit cowboy drops below $1,000 i will eat a hat. bit cowboy a fo b bitcoin, an internet currency. as you can see right now it's at $517. >> and change. >> today it's been fluctuating a little bit, right? so he is screwed. >> i'm an idiot. >> man of his word, though. >> man of his word. >> he's cutting it into little pieces. >> he sprinkled it on, like, a cheesesteak. he's going to eat this thing. he tried to eat it in one sitting this but he was unable to. >> oh, what a way to ruin a good sandwich. >> right. >> right, with bits of hat. hopefully somebody didn't wear it. he had to take a break. this is later different day, same hat but he's got a different shirt on here. >> i feel bad for him.
3:44 pm
>> just don't do it. >> i don't feel bad for him, just say do you know what, i'm not going to eat a hat. i was joking. >> he didn't eat this hat he wouldn't have more than 100,000 hits on youtube. >> that's true. >> and he's probably going to be able to buy himself a couple extra hats. >> that's a ea hrnet. this motorcyclist in brazil went from leisurely motorcycle rider on this day to crime fighter. notice this group of people right here. they are chasing after another teenager that apparently just stole a purse from one of the girls in this group. this guy realizes what's going on. he starts stepping on the gas. >> whoa. >> and then notice that there's a guy wearing a white t-shirt running about to cross the street. >> oh. >> he slowed that guy down just enough for the other guy behind him to capture him, right? >> he pulled up close and slapped him across the face and the other guy in the red shorts
3:45 pm
was able to catch up to him and throws him on the ground and holds him while the rest of the group catches up. >> oh, man. >> a hurting time for the guy that nipped the purse. >> yeah. >> just kids, too. come on. >> yeah, it's a bunch of kids. the guy that allegedly stole the purse looks pretty freaked out. they're all screaming stuff at each other and at him. this guy in the black shirt comes up. slaps him again. hands the wipers over to the girl in the pink shirt whom we believe is the owner of that purse. according to the uploader police took him into custody but later released him and did not charge him with any crime. it's violence you don't want when para motoring. he accidentally killed the engine. how turning to plan "b" throws him off. and it's that awkward moment
