leland yee, today we got a look at the indictment targeting leland yee and his 28 co- defendants. ktvu's david stevenson joins us now with the new details on the trial and the judge assigned to the case. >> that judge has a personal tie to the u.s. supreme court and some defendants could be jockeying to cut a deal and avoid trial. >> the trial of california state senator leland yee, former san francisco school board president keith jackson and raymond "shrimp boy" chow is slated to be heard by u.s. district judge who brings his own connections to the court. >> he is from san francisco. he is a local. has a reputation for fair mindedness. >> reporter: they are among 29 defendants in the federal grand jury indictment released today. >> there appeared to be new

defendants in the case. the heart of the allegations is the same. >> i am the man they calls the shot. >> reporter: the investigation targeted raymond chow but soon included keith jackson. >> the key is to have him trust the first under cover agent. once he trusts the agent he introduces him to other people. >> the charges range from bribery to drug and arms dealing and murder for hire. they are free on bond. a bitter disappointment to the district attorney's office. >> every moment they are out and talking is a chance they could make mistakes. they could talk to somebody and that person could get back to the government. >> the defendants are due for a court appearance on tuesday morning. reporting live in san francisco, david stevenson, ktvu channel 2 news. campaign reports showed

leland yee used campaign money to the philippines. that is where he tried to import weapons. the reports show leland yee spent $62,000 at a san francisco restaurant. that is the same restaurant the prosecutors say was a venue for many events for a criminal group. the suspension of leland yee and two senators is hurting the democratic party in sacramento. the democrats no longer have a super majority, that is the ability to pass legislation without needing votes from redskins and republicans see an opportunity to -- republican and see republicans see an opportunity. >> brings republicans back in play on issues relating to constitutional amendments, tax increases. those are things that could have been done with one party. >> the senator said the loss may make democrats slow down a bit. he called it a speed bump.

trains are running but slower than normal through the tube and they have still not yet fixed the problem. it happened about 9:00 a.m. when electronic train control device failed in the tube. crews could not fix it. some commuters had to change trains, delays stretched over 20 minutes. they t got better through -- it got better through the day. an hour ago b.a.r.t. pulled the crews, running trains on slower manual mode. they will go back in and try fix the equipment later tonight. >> manufacturer that made them no longer makes them. b.a.r.t. is trying to replace the system, it will be hundreds of millions of dollars. >> tells me there is a lot of things messed up with the b.a.r.t. system. it is difficult to deal with. >> the part that failed, you see here, crucial for computer

investigators say a fire that damaged a building owned by children's hospital is suspicious. the fire started add 2:30 a.m. at the guiling onesh -- building on 52 street. investigators believe it may have been intentionally set because it started on the outside of the building. good news for safety in oakland. there will be more police officers on the streets tomorrow.
