happy friday. good morning. happy friday. the traffic is going to be busy all over the place. but it's not stop and go. people are on the road early on fridays but we usually have lighter conditions. this is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. eight minute drive time across the span. interstate 880 north and southbound certainly people out there. road work is not a factor. traffic continues to move along very nicely. we talk about 580 westbound coming in through the livermore valley. at 4:30 let's go back to the desk. topping our news this morning. a charter bus full of high school students crashed, burst into flames on interstate five killing ten people. this morning 11 hours after that deadly collision the burned wreckage of the bus remains on the side of the road. now the crash happened just

after 5:30 yesterday evening near the rural community overland. that is 20 miles west ofkey koa. alex savidge is joining us from our newsroom with new information about the victims. alex. >> reporter: over night we did learn a tenth person died in this crash. five were students and five were adults. 30 other people do remain hospitalized. and this was the firey scene near orland yesterday afternoon after a fedex truck crashed head on with that charter bus. they were all headed up to humboldt state for a college tour that was set to happen this weekend. that crash killed again five students, three chaperons, and the driver of both the fedex truck and the charter bus. >> flipped a white car that is further in the ditch up there.

sideswiped it. went head on with the charter bus. immediate explosion. >> the head of the l.a. unified school destruct says some student from the school district was on that trip. but right now officials are scrambling to figure out which students were on the bus that scratched. the chp is working to figure out what caused that crash. caused the fedex driver to lose control. all lanes of i-5 do remain closed. we do know the ntsb is sending a team to that area to help in the investigation. live this morning in the newsroom i'm alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. we have received a statement from governor brown. he issued this statement. ann and i extend our heartfelt and deep sympathies to the

laundering and conspiracy charges for his alleged role in this political corruption case. leland yee's decision to withdraw from the secretary of state case has provided a boost. rearview mirror candidate pete peterson in third place with a 3% gain since he dropped out. other candidates are trailing way behind. the number of undecided z voters still 41%. protestors planning to block a google bus in the san francisco area this morning. the protestors blame well paid high-tech employees for driving up rents and contributing to the evictions of long-time mission district residents. several similar protests have been held over the last few months. we are learning new details

about wednesday's deadly accident in sebastopol. a car hit and killed frederick while he was heading home from his evening walk. the 75-year-old driver is cooperating with authorities but that she is traumatized. police are looking into whether sunlight may have briefly blinded the driver since the accident happened while she was driving into a sunset. a three-year-old boy remains in critical condition at san francisco general hospital this morning after being hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street. that happened shortly before noon yesterday. both police and neighbors say it is a very dangerous intersection. now a tiny bicycle now evidence in this tragic case. the little boy was riding it across the intersection with a group of people when he was hit by a turning pickup truck.

confident is the black box is starting to fade. >> shortly after the prime minister's encouraging words, one of the men spear heading the search announced there were no major breakthroughs and that an under water ping detected yesterday probably did not come from the missing aircraft. today is day 35 of the search. the batteries that sent out the signals from the black boxes last about 30 days. bay area engineer could play a pivotal role in helping recover the black boxes. graham hawk built this machine which may look like a small submarine but it's actually an under water plane. when the malaysian airline jet went down he was there to help in the search. once crews pinpoint the location of the black boxes, hawks under water technology could help in retrieving those boxes. the coast guard has suspended its search for teenager who was swept out to sea at san francisco's ocean
