the alleyway on campton, and the people who are first in line actually got here on wednesday and have been spending the night, camping out. we talked with the first man in line. here's what he had to say. >> everything that's dropping, i'm getting a pair or two of everything. that's for certain! >> reporter: there are four different styles being released this morning. it has been an education in shoes for me. one of those styles that you're looking at, the air jordan retro, but a lot of people are talking about the air foam- posit foam premium, known as the yezi, inspired by kanye west. lot of people we've talked to are interested in that. nike regulates getting only one set of shoes. hopefully everyone in line will get a pair of shoes today, but we don't know how much stock there is. the store is supposed to open at 10:00 a.m. back out here live, you can see the line. it's a little chilly this morning, but they are all sporting some nice shoes already, and they are going to

[ screaming ] >> last december, cell phone video captured this fight at a store in stockton. a person was getting beaten up and his shirt torn off after a dispute over a pair of $180 air jordans. there was a confrontation in north carolina between two women over the sneakers at the footlocker. shootings and police using pepper spray have been used to subdue unruly clouds. a chp officer is recovering after a hit and run last night.

the officer and his partner were issuing a ticket to a driver on the 101 near the mckey road exit. moments later, someone who was exiting the freeway lost control of their car and hit the officer. >> he hit one officer, threw that officer into the air? >> yeah, not very far, but it hit him into the other officer. >> only the patrolman hit by the car was hurt, but his injuries are minor. the driver of the vehicle that hit him drove away, described as a silver sedan with possible damage to the front driver's side. two people were seriously injured after a car crashed into a bus station in san francisco on mission and silver streets. witnesses say the car jumped the curb and hit a woman in a wheelchair. police say both the driver and the woman were rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. the cause of that crash is still under investigation. a woman is behind bars this morning after she turned herself in to sonoma county

officials for the death of her infant child in montana in 2012. 23-year-old amanda rose-stephan was arrested on suspicion of homicide yesterday. billings, montana police were also notified of the arrest. an autopsy is scheduled on monday for a woman whose body was found at the bottom of a steep slope on mt. tam. while the marin county coroner confirmed the body was that of 50-year-old kristine sanner, they have yet to issue a cause of death. but investigators found no evidence of foul play. sanner's death has unnerved some mt. tam hikers. she says the second female hiker to die in the area in the past two weeks. >> are you scared? >> yeah, that's why i walk with a stick. i kept looking behind me and i kept checking out each person who came. >> i think the saddest part of being a teacher is that you're not leaving behind just your family, but there's a whole group of 25 students and their families that you're leaving behind. >> investigators say sanner's death is not connected to the face of 33-year-old menlo park software developer making

delean glencowski. her body was found last saturday after hiking on march 30. investigators found no obvious signs of trauma to her body. the golden state warriors tip off in the nba playoffs today, as they make their push, taking on the los angeles clippers in game 1 of their first round series. expect some physical play, as there is some well-documented bad blood between the state rivals. the underdog warriors say they are confident they can win on the road today at the staples center. >> high intensity, especially it's the playoffs and you got to expect it to be a fun series and really competitive. >> the experience of going through the playoffs last year, money couldn't buy that. i think it makes us better, makes us more prepared. >> while bigman andrew bogut is out indefinitely with a fractured rib, warriors say this playoff team could be better than last year because of the playoff experience and the addition of andre iguodala. warrior fans will get a chance to snatch up playoff

tickets later this morning. tickets to game 3 and 4 of the series at oracle arena will go on sale to the general public at 10:00 this morning. your best bet is the warriors nba website. the warriors have told fans to only buy tickets directly from the team and reputable websites. fans could get scammed if they buy tickets from unofficial vendors. unhappy san francisco 49er fans are upset about the decor in new bart trains. the transit seats in the new cars are lime green and light blue, similar to the colors of the seattle seahawks. some 49er fans want the colors changed before the cars go into service in 2017. there is even an online petition to get the colors changed. coincidentally, bart's general manager used to head seattle's department of transportation. getting to tahoe could take longer starting next week. on tuesday, crews will be working on highway 50 in sacramento between 18th and 24th streets. it's a section of highway frequently used by people in the bay area trying to get to

tahoe. cal trans says age and heavy use have caused extensive wear and tear to the road. officials say it needs to be completely resurfaced. the highway will be pretty much out of commission through june, so drivers heading that direction should make alternate plans. crews will be working on eastbound highway 50 until may 21st. after that, crews will move to the westbound lanes. work is expected to finish there by june 25th. a new report shows smartphone thefts in the united states nearly doubled over the course of one year. consumer reports says about 3.1 million people had their smartphones stolen last year. about 1.6 million people had them stolen in 2012. a senate bill now being debated would require cell phones sold in california to have a kill switch. if it passes, the bill would go into effect january 1 of next year. hundreds of volunteers will be doing their part to clean up the bay area for the next two weekends in honor of earth day. today there will be a shoreline cleanup in albany from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30. next saturday, there will be cleanup events across the bay

area. earth day is officially on tuesday. each year, volunteers clean state parks all across california. today, people in pleasanton can safely get rid of their old tv's, computers, and other electronic devices. the city is hosting a free e- waste collection event this morning. items being collected include tv's, computers, printers, vcr's and batteries. large appliances will not be accepted. the collection starts at 9:00 a.m. and the city maintenance yard on bush road, and ends at 3:00 this afternoon. the city of richmond will be hosting a grand reopening party at point malani beach today. the free event kicks off at 11:30 this morning. the event includes live music, easter egg coloring and a tug of war battle between the richmond police and fire departments. the beach reopened to the public back in october, but the city parks department said they wanted to wait until closer to spring to celebrate. the city made about $115,000 in improvements to the beach area. it's probably the most visible sign that the new 49ers

stadium in santa clara is almost finished. a grounds crew has put down the sod for the new field. it took them two days to lay down the 2 1/2 acres of turf for levi's stadium. it's bandera bermuda grass, which apparently uses much less water than traditional bermuda grass, yet it holds up better and may prevent player injuries. big problems for one bay area neighborhood. why a mudslide is causing a case of deja vu for some people in piedmont. >> and a bear cub gets another chance at life. the answers wildlife officials are hoping to find after this little guy was dropped off in a dog cage at a bareis cue center in tahoe. >> enjoyable weekend on tap. mild today, even warmer for tomorrow, and in the extended forecast i'm tracking rain. i'll have a look at your numbers and a time line on the wet weather, coming up.

. 13 hiking guides are confirmed dead at mount everest, with three still missing and several others hospitalized in critical condition. the guides were fixing ropes for climbers when the avalanche occurred. one survivor says the path up the mountain had been unstable. the avalanche hit an area that's 21,000 feet high. everest is the world's tallest peak at 29,000 feet. one of the men who was climbing the mountain is from sacramento. relatives feared the worst when they heard the news. he was trying to become the oldest american to scale everest. he was able to send word back to family members in california that he is okay. >> geiger has two daughters. they say he is very positive and determined to not stop until he reaches the summit. a few days after the anniversary of the boston

marathon bombings, a memorial was held for a police officer who is believed to have been killed by the bombing suspect. 26-year-old sean collier was killed one year ago yesterday. police say the mit police officer was shot while sitting in his cruiser. hundreds of people showed up at yesterday's memorial. they say the young officer was a friendly, outgoing person, who had a promising future in law enforcement. ktvu's claudine wong will be in boston bringing you live coverage of this year's boston marathon. her reports will begin tomorrow morning, right here on mornings on 2. she'll be live on monday throughout the morning, as the race takes place. today marks the 19th anniversary of the oklahoma city bombing. 168 people, including 19 children, were killed. 500 others were hurt. former u.s. army soldier timothy mcveigh and terry nichols were convicted of carrying out the attack. police say mcveigh parked a truck filled with explosives in front of the albert p murrah federal building. mcveigh died by lethal

injection in june of 2001. nichols was sentencedded to life in prison without parole. two men stabbed ahman's dog to death during an attempted robbery yesterday morning near 22nd and bartlett streets. the victim was walking his pitbull when two men approached him. one man grabbed the dog, the other pulled out a knife. the victim said he started yelling at the individuals, and that's when he says one of the men started stabbing his pitbull. soon after, the dog owner says the men let go of the pitbull and ran away. the dog later died at an animal hospital. a young marin county girl has been raising pet chickens in her family's backyard all her life, but as ktvu's rob roth tells us, feathers are now flying, because of a restriction that may force her to give them up. >> reporter: for this 9-year- old, these aren't just chickens. they are part of the family. >> i love them. >> reporter: she even has names for the four chickens.

and she likes the little presents they give almost every day. >> it's a hot egg! >> reporter: she has helped raise them since she got them as chicks two years ago. she sees in them what perhaps most people miss. >> they are really sweet and nice and they always, like, they always seem to understand whenever you talk to them. >> reporter: but this is a story that may not have a happy ending. the chickens are ruffling the feathers of the homeowners association that governs the neighborhood. the kent woodland's property owners situation has demanded the chickens leave the coupe. homeowners are restricted to more common pets. >> they are considered farm animals. we don't allow goats and pigs. >> reporter: but the mathiss say they haven't received any complaints from neighbors. >> she brings them around, goes on chicken play dates and brings eggs around and it really brightens people's days. >> reporter: but more a fight over what constitutes a proper

came from or how she may have been separated from her mother. the young cub weighs only 5 pounds and was a little dehydrated when she first arrived. >> she doesn't have teeth. she can't eat. she would be dead probably by now. >> wildlife authorities say tahoe's mother may have been hit by a car, shot by poachers, or simply died of old age. they say it's rare for a mother bear to leave her cub, especially one as young as tahoe. her new keepers say they are trying to let her do her own thing and stay as wild as possible. >> we don't cuddle her. we don't do any type of bonding with her. she doesn't need to bond to me. >> as long as tahoe continues to do well, she will eventually grow up to be about 85 to 90 pounds. her keepers say when she's ready, they hope to release her back into the wild in about a year or so. a giants fantas a tumble, but what happens next caught the attention of many in the park. the gesture this man made after trying to catch a foul ball. >> and becoming one with nature for free. how you can visit some national parks this weekend, without

. a news conference about safety nearly killed connecticut sthart richard bloomen that will. he and an aide were standing on the train platform when a train came by. the fbi is trying to find out who may have written a bomb threat found on board a delta airplane. investigators say the note was found on the flight from detroit to denver international airport yesterday. the plane was directed to a remote location. 151 passengers had to have luggage screened and be interviewed by the fbi. most of the passengers have been released. well, if you're looking for something to do this weekend, why not visit a national park for free. yosemite and other national parks are offering free

home and shot by the owner. it began at 15bg 15 yesterday morning at a home on 13th street and colin ga avenue. the man who lives there says he heard a noise, and shot a burglar in the chest. the burglar jumped a wall, leaving a trail of blood and other evidence including a watch. two accomplices to the burglar showed up a at the house, and shot the homeowner in retaliation. >> times are tough. people are getting desperate. it's a shame. you see someone trying to make an honest living and provide. it's not, it's a shame. >> the horn was shot in the leg -- the homeowner was shot in the legs and expected to survive. police arrested the two people who brought the burglar to the hospital. power restored to a piedmont neighborhood after a mudslide knocked trees in to a power line. it happened at max wellton road. east bay says it may have been cause bade leaking system not by the utilities water main or sewage line.

it is the second slide in the area in two years. officials say the first one was caused by faulty drainage at the home next door. >> two years ago, because the slide came from private property, they, the city cleared it got the road open again. then they were billed for the cost. >> close to 500 customers lost power during the outage. officials have talked to the owner of the home directly about the slide. more details on the slide from two years ago, it was april 13th, 2012 when dirt and trees came roaring down from max to mora ga. two months ago the city of piedmont settled to recover the cost of that clean up. a san jose restaurant will be closed for a month after the liquor license was suspended. the restaurant on north capital avenue allowed lewd acts to be performed and receiverred alcohol to minors.

the restaurant also violated conditions of the... by stowing open bottles for customers and receiverring liquor after hours. >> the opener denies the allegations. the business will be on probation for one year, after it re-opens in may. last month they shut down the sapphire restaurant for illegal alcohol sales. task force at state university released more than 5á 50 recommendations following allegations of a hate crime on the campus. it involved four white stupes charged with misdemeanor battery and hate crimes for harassing the african american roommate. some include creating a divesty office, requiring new students to take divesty training. one task force member says it's a step in the right direction but means nothing without action. >> yes, it happened ve happened

years. administrators say they will begin pulling people from the wait list to fill the class. most of those will be out of state students. california farmers and cities will get more brought relief than expected. it's increasing the amount of water allocated for water districts from zero to 5%, of what they asked for. that water won't be available until september. officials are reminding people to continue conserving as much water as possible. >> it's dry again next year. we don't get much water, we are going to be in a worse situation. >> the santa clara district says people need to reduce the use by 20% to make sure there is sufficient ground reserves should the drought continue in to next year. east bay mud may tap in to a emergency water supply. board members will be discussing the idea on tuesday. if the plan goes forward, it would be the first time the district has ever tapped in to the back up supply.

few minutes we received an update nom the sergeant. he tells me that the officer may have been rammed twice by that suspect vehicle. i want to show you the scene, it's almost cleared, tow trucks arrived and taken away, the suspect vehicle as well as the officers vehicle that was involved. both the officer and two suspects were transported to local hospitals, we are told they have nonlife threatening injuries. this all started sometime around 6:30 this morning. with a robbery, on the 3400 block of balboa. the suspects confronted a female victim, there was a shot fired, we have confirmed that. there was a bullet casing recovered on the scene. those suspects took off in the gold colored saturn and it was spotted by an officer the vehicle spotted, the pursuit ensued and the suspect may have tried to ram the officer's vehicle, the first time around.

hills this morning. and it is for the delta and the high clouds that are mixing out as well, pushing to the east and to the south. here is the front right here, as it will wash out. we're not going to see any rain out of it, but the breeze is blowing this morning as we do have the temperatures that will remain on the cooler side, at least at the coast today. the rest of us will be just as warm as we were yesterday. 30 miles per hour and gusting to 35. and so there it is that proof there that the on shore breeze, they are quite strong through the delta and i'm seeing it over the hills. how about the temperatures? a big rebound in areas like walnut creek and the lower 60s there. most of us ranging in the low to mid-50s. and they are beginning to finally warm u. if you're going to see them play this afternoon, it will be a nice day with the temperatures in the 60s at game time with the southwesterly breeze and mostly clear skies. you're talking about it in the studio with two for hot dogs. i'll takeout one. 68 for the afternoon today.

officers, they spotted the suspect vehicle from the robbery earlier. >> and there was another crime scene too and it is possible, preliminary right now that the suspects, they may have tried to ram the police vehicle that was all here. >> reporter: now this all started as we mentioned with a robbery at 34th and balboa. the video that you're seeing is of that location where two suspects approached a female victim, the bullet was found on scene. police, they are still looking for a weapon. back out here live, the police vehicle and the suspect's vehicle has been towed from the intersection here at 20th and lincoln as it is back open. they're suspected to be okay and the investigator on scene tells us that hi was heading to the interviews with the initial victim in that robbery to find out more on what lead up to this as he called it the brazen act. the suspect potentially trying to ram the police car twice.

live in san francisco, channel 2 news. police have identified a man shot and killed in richmond as 28-year-old pierre reddick. they say he was trying to burglarize the home and was shot by the homeowner. it began 1:15 yesterday morning. the 68-year-old man who lives there says he heard a noise and shot a burglar in the chest. the burglar then jumped a wall leaving a trail of blood and other evidence including a watch behind as two accomplices later showed up at the house and shot the homeowner. >> times are tough and people are getting desperate and it's a shame as you're seeing someone making an honest living to provide for themselves. >> the homeowner was shot in the legs and had to be air lifted to the hospital, expected to survive. they arrested the two people who brought the burglar to the hospital. the task force at san jose university has released more than 50 recommendations following allegations of the hate crime on campus.

the incident involves four white students who are now charged with the misdemeanor battery and hate crimes for harassing their roommates. some of the recommendations include creating the diversity office for requiring them to take diversity training as they hope the officials will have an action plan within 45 days. we posted a link to the final recommendations. just look for the web link section under hot topics. >> the san jose restaurant will be closed for a month after following the state investigation as they say that the restaurant on north capital avenue, they allowed the lewd acts to be performed inside the club and serve alcohol to minors. the alcohol beverage control department says that they also violated conditions of their license by storing the open bottles for customers and servingly kor after hours. >> and they are working with san jose police after the complaints of, you know, potential or illegal activity. >> the owner denies the

allegations as the business will be on probation for one year after they reopen in may and just last month they temporary shut down the sapphire restaurant on the roads for illegal alcohol sales. and an effort to promote peace over violence is underway in the south bay. people that live here teamed up with them last night saying it was the first night in the series of watch to bring positive change to the area as there is an increase in violent crimes in allen rock and the east side of san jose, expected to take place every friday night through july. they got more than just a free sample when the car came crashing into the building. two cars, they crashed right through the candy shop. shoppers and employees had to run to get out of the way. >> there were several people in

the building. thankfully nobody was hurt. it was quite crowded. at least 11 employees and just as many customers. >> the women driving the two cars were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. a customer and employee suffered minor injuries, but expected to be okay. police have taken a man into custody who threatened to shoot people in the los angeles times building. they received reports of the potential shooting at 7:30 last night as they say that the men who works in that building, but they are not an employee of the times. and one of the co-workers says he was depressed, that he wanted to kill someone, but didn't want to go to jail as he reportedly showed that person until about 9:00. the california farmers and cities, they will get a little more drought relief than expected as the department of water resources says they are increasing the amount of water allocated for the local water district from zero to 5% of what they asked for, but that the water, it will not be available until september, so the city officials, they are

reminding people to continue to serve as much water as possible. >> and if it is something that they need to try again next year and you don't get much water that you'll be in a much worse situation. >> the valley water district says that people, they need to reduce their water use by 20% in order to make sure that there is efficient ground reserve should they continue into next year. and meanwhile they may tap into the emergency water supply from the sacramento river and the water district and their board members that will be discussing the idea on tuesday. and if they go forward that it would be the first time that the district has ever tapped into the backup supply. and that the officials, they are also expected to ask their 1.3 million customers to continue cutting the water usage by 10% as they would serve the customers. 2 investigates the marijuana vending machine with a sensation in colorado, but could they be headed soon to california? we have a look at the challenges at play. >> reporter: it is not a candy

machine, but they will be dispensing the edibles. products like the macaroons that could be headed to california as early as this summer. the man behind the machine said that it is aimed at limiting product theft inside dispensaries. here is how it works. after presenting your medical marijuana card to enter a dispensary, once inside you swipe your license. the machine uses facial recognition software to make sure that the license is yours. currently it does not read medical marijuana cards. >> we believe that technology is equally capable as a doorman would be at a bar. so if they have an i.d., then they may be able to take it. we're not taking blood and dna. >> that makes the employees uncomfortable. he's a san francisco medical

marijuana dispensary as they have other concerns as well. >> one of the biggest dangers is overmedicating. four different strains in there. >> without the employee expertise, he is concerned that patients won't know what they are getting. >> you run the risk of ingesting too much medication and being very uncomfortable. >> reporter: the other concern is product freshness, especially when it comes to edibles. >> is it old, not good anymore, steal, is it moldy? >> it is climate controlled. the product expiration dates will be monitored. right now they are only legal inside dispensaries, but believes that the law will evolve to include the other locations. >> if the law does that and the law is comfortable with the way our machine verifies, then absolutely. >> and maybe even inside your local coffee shop. it could tabulate and limit how many ounces of marijuana are sold to one individual customer, but admits that wouldn't stop them from making another purchase from a different vending machine.

the towers and the skyline and the bay bridge. in the backdrop, the marine layer and the low clouds that are hugging close to the coast and that it will be partly cloudy along for most of the day this morning and then the responsible party, well this system here, that is going to kind of stay there as we do have a disturbance moving through with a few light showers reporting through northern california, which will be about it. for us it brought back those clouds a little bit more widespread with high clouds to move through the overnight hours and the on shore breeze that will be quite strong for some of us through the deltas, really cranking over the hills. and let me show you the system here as they move through california over the course of the next few hours that washes out as we're not going to see any rain, but with our current status that we would love to see some of that with the low clouds hugging the coastline for most of the day, mostly sunny with the breeze that will continue tomorrow, which will be a little breezy along the

the duke and dutchess of cambridge continued their tour of australia this morning with a visit to the air force base. they were shown the top of the line fighter jets and also allowed to sit in the cockpit of the jets and to try their hands out of the flight simulator. prince george already has a souvenir to take home from his first trip to australia. yesterday the mayor of the suburb near sydney gave him a personalized surf board. baby prince george was napping at the time, so prince william and kate middleton accepted on his behalf. they watched teenagers learn about life saving. about 12,000 people came out to see them. pg&e executives are scheduled to appear in federal court this morning related to the 2010 san bruno pipeline filed earlier this month and charges to the utility with 12 felonies and the safety violations as they alleged the
