today. cooler especially tomorrow. you will see temperatures coming down into the 60s for many. right now mostly clear. a little bit of fog on the increase. 40s for some. 40s to 50s and 60s. we do see this system moving into the pacific northwest scene northern california. so some rain on the north coast and our system will cloud up really fast. sun for awhile but not for awhile. light rain possible. this is not a big system but it will give us a pretty big significant change. >> we are still looking pretty good here as you are driving around the bay area. let's take a look at 80 westbound it looks very nice on the east shore freeway. also the morning commute looks good at the bay bridge toll plaza. it appears the traffic is moving well. you see that one guy trying to

cut across all lanes. there is always one guy that is doing that. there are no major problems here as you dry through. if you are driving on 580 westbound we are payoff to a good start coming into the livermore valley. let's go back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. the story sounds too crazy to be true but the fbi says a 16-year-old boy stowed away in the wheel well of a flight from san jose all the way to hawaii and survived. tara moriarty is joining us with more on this incredible story. tara. >> reporter: talk about a miracle. he could have frozen to death. he could have gotten mangled in the under carriage. and he could have fell out right before the plane landed because he was unconscious the entire flight. but somehow the 16-year-old boy made it for the 5.5 hour flight over the pacific ocean from san jose to maui.

he appears to be fine but that is despite frigid temperatures. investigators the teen hopped a fence at san jose international airport sunday morning to get on a hawaiian airlines flight to maui. it's a miracle he lived through the ordeal. we talked to travelers who said they simply couldn't believe the story. >> oh my goodness. it just shows. i'm a nurse so the cold temperature might have slowed his metabolism down so he didn't have that much of an oxygen need. >> the fbi took the santa clara boy into the custody after he hopped off the wheel well and wondered around the tarmac. he is in child protective services right now. there is a time change with hawaii so as soon as we get anymore information, we will pass it along to you.

live in san jose i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. there have been similar incidents. just last year a 15-year-old nigerian boy survived after he stowed away with the in the wheel well of a commercial plane that flew 45 minutes. experts say the teen survived in part because the plane reached an altitude of only 21,000 feet. in 2010 an iranian man survived a 9 hour flight. this morning police in fairfield continue to look for suspects in a weekend shoots that killed one man and injured a teenage boy. both victims were rushed to north bay medical center. the 27-year-old fairfield man died at the hospital. a 15-year-old boy was treated for a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

it's not clear exactly where the shooting took place but it was fairfield's fourth homicide of the year. happening today thousands of runners say they're preparing to take back the streets of boston for what is being called the world's marathon. final security measures were put in place along the 22.6 route over night. there will be double the amount of police officers. there is also a long list of items that will not be allowed into the area. all this comes as runners prepare for a marathon that last year ended with two bombings that killed two people and injured hundreds of others. survivors of last years bombings joined last years survivors. the giants screened, flashed the words we remember as bag pipes played the national anthem. after the game johnny gomes talked about last year's world

series win. when the team placed the trophy on the marathon finish line. >> extremely important for the team and the city to where when you walk down to that finish line, you recognize that finish line of where the trophy was set. >> players say last year's bombings will be forever a part of boston and u.s. history. they say this year's marathon will show how quickly the country can regroup, heal, and support each other. our own claudine wong is in boston this morning with the hundreds of runners from around the bay area. they say they are participating and anticipating a race that will be unlike any other. some were a couple blocks from the finish line when the bombs went off. others were among the hundreds injured by the blast. and some are first time marathon runners. >> i've always wanted to run boston but after the event of last year i immediately knew i was going to sign up. i had qualifying time.

i thought it would be the perfect time to come and race. >> more than a million people are expected to cheer on the crowd. this years race will have 36,000 runners. the second largest in marathon mist -- in history. it also gave a few extra invitations to first responders, victims, and their families. and then in november, organizers announced that 500 more spots would be made available to anyone who wanted to run just because they felt personally impacted by the bombings. they invited people to write 250 word essays describing why taking part in this year's marathon is important to them. claudine wong is in boston. she'll have a live report at 5:00 this morning as the first group prepares to leave that starting line. right now 4:36.

several pg&e executives are due in federal court to face charges stemming from the 2010 san bruno pipeline explosion. indictment filed earlier this month charges pg&e with 12 felony safety violations. the utility knowingly lied on incomplete information while assessing the state of the pipeline. the explosion and fire killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes. crews will be out at hippy hill in golden gate park picking up any trash left behind by the 4:20 marathon celebration. things were calm for most of the day but at least step ten beam were arrested. no shots were fired. after everyone left, the focus turned to picking up trash.

>> i've been here three years running. i think it's fantastic use of the park. >> andy george held a sign at this year's event reminding people not to litter. last year cleanup efforts cost the city $10,000. there is a new meaning to 420 celebrations in colorado this year. it's the first celebration since the state legalized the recreational use of marijuana. people from across the country gathered in denver to light up. denver police reminded smoking pot in public is still illegal in the state. people who live in the east bay may find out tomorrow if they will face new additional water restrictions. east bay mud is meeting to decide how to deal with the ongoing water shortage. among the options under consideration adopting draft

rates. district could also just stick with the voluntary 10% cuts which are already in effect. the recent storms has helped restore reservoirs. with a click of the mouse people in the bay area will find out if rising sea levels could make them victims of a flood. this is an online map. it will show you how much sea levels will rise in one particular area. and tell the number of homes and businesses that could be flooded. right now most of the information is for new york, new jersey, and florida. but information for california will be added later this spring. this morning the san francisco 49ers showing off their newly installed turf at levi stadium. to members of the media and special vips. they used bandera bermuda turf which uses 50% less water.

4:43 is the time. guides on mount everest are considering a boycott after 13 of them died in an avalanche on friday. the climbers paid the government of nepal $10,000 each per permit to climb the mountain. the guides are angry the government is offering families of those that died just $400,000 each in compensation. there are growing concerns about mold on treasure island. the chronicle reports people that live and work at the old navy base are complaining about mold in several basement thes. this follows the discovery of mold at an aging fire station. many are worried the mold could pose a risk to their health. the mold issue is just the latest potential health threat for people living on the small island in the middle of the bay. just last month they will test all of the homes on the island for elevated radiation levels.

the navy once used the same area as its toxic waste pet. autopsy planned today on the mill valley hiker who's body was found on mt. tam. searchers recovered 50-year-old marie sanders body on thursday. she had develop for a hike with her dog and friend. her body was found below a steep slope. next to the body of another hiker was found. we are turning to florida where an easter sunday surprise sent two dozen church goers to the hospital. a car plowed right through a wall and into the sanctuary. at least 20 people were injured. many of the people were trapped beneath the car. >> about 20 or more parishioners were using jacks from their car.

and they were attempting to jack and manually lift the vehicle off several people that were trapped underneath. >> the driver of the car told police her brakes gave out as she pulled into the parking lot. still not clear though if she will be cited. 4:45 is the time. ma lay share air -- malaysia airlines making headlines. a tire burst after a plane was taking off heading for india. that plane had to turn around and make an emergency landing. the incident comes more than six weeks after malaysia flight also traveling from quiet almost pore disappeared in the indian ocean.

are up farther north. 40s and 50s. there is cool air trapped. some of the areas could be very brisk. not much of a breeze yet. it looks like cloud cover and already light rain moving in. this is a weak system down here. i think we will get a little something out of it. 33 up in tahoe. 49 ukiah. there is not a lot to this system. there is a little bit here. but it is setting the table if you will for what looks to be a cooler week here as we add very warm temps. cooling begins. some light rain possible. look for 60s. 60s mainly coast and bay. and 70s inland. some of the temperatures might be hard pressed to get this warm the rest of the week.

history be made in the air over the bay area today as a pair of world war ii planes come to the bay area. one was a b-17 that was used in the movie memphis bell. and then p-51 mustang. the money raised helps keep those planes flying. san jose sharks have a 2-0 series lead over the kings. >> back to the net. and then score. deflected inside. >> the sharks were down 2-0. but then they scored seven unanswered goals to win 7-2. they have out scored the kings

police say they were called to the sp2 bar at about 12:30 yesterday morning. they had a report of a person one person being stabbed. but when officers arrived they found three other victims. all four are expected to survive but police say the stabbings followed some sort of fight or argument inside the bar. a former san francisco firefighter accused of driving a fire truck while drunk is due back in court this morning. 43-year-old michael quinn is expected to be arraigned on three felony counts including causing an injury while driving under the influence. back in june he ran a red

light, hit a motorcyclist. after the crash he was seen on surveillance video at a bar drinking several glasses of water. if convicted he could face up to three years in prison. a former police officer accused of stealing prescription drugs is expected in court today. matthew switzer is accused of using his status as an officer to take prescription drugs from seniors. his attorney says his client became addicted to painkillers after suffering an injury and post-traumatic stress disorder. children still getting codeine at emergency rooms even after safety concerns. more than half a million children are given codeine every year. researchers say there is new evidence that children's bodies process the drug in many ways
