i'm tori campbell. >> good morning. i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. steve, can you give tori some good weather? >> today will be cooler. low and high clouds rolling in. partly sunny, partly cloudy here in the morning. turning mostly cloudy. this is a weak system. it will cloud us up and give us a cooler picture. 40s, 50s. that wouldn't be until tonight. tomorrow will be cooler as we drop about another 10 degrees. the system doesn't have much on the north coast. there's plenty to go. look for increasing clouds. a mostly cloudy day. sun a little bit. clouds rolling in later. the cooling begins. light rain possible tonight. more like drizzle. 60s 70s with a pretty good cooling trend. here's sal. right now we're looking at a commute where traffic is busy in some areas. on the eastshore freeway between vallejo and richmond down to the berkeley area, you will see some traffic that's slow, especially in richmond
7:03 am
but it gets better in berkeley. when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, the traffic is backed up 30 minutes between oakland and san francisco. it's prete busy. as we look at the nimitz freeway, we have slowing southbound 880 at stevenson. for the move part the traffic is a little lighter than it normally would be. we still have time for it to build up. but it's okay. let's go back to the desk. we begin with a story that sounds too crazy to be true. the fbi says a 16-year-old stowed away in the wheel well on a from san jose to hawaii and walked away without a screech. tara moriarty is live to tell us how the boy got on the plane in the first place. >> reporter: that's exactly what is making passengers here a little nervous. how was this teenager able to slip by security, hop a fence.
7:04 am
we've noticed here at the airport, if you take a look behind me, you can see the hawaiian airlines, we have no curbside checking this morning. somehow, this 16-year-old boy did survive the five and a half hour flight from san jose to maui. maui news released this photo. the teen appears to be unarmed. investigators say flight 45 took off around 8:00 sunday morning he endured frigid temperatures at 38,000 feet in the air. he passed out after takeoff and regained consciousness after the plane landed. while passengers here are amazed a his story, they ares can concerned about -- they are also concerned about security. >> you wonder with all of the workers on the tarmac why didn't anyone see him or question him. >> reporter: now, the fbi took the santa clara boy into custody after he jumped off the wheel well and started to wander around the tarmac in
7:05 am
maui. investigators say the man ran away from home after he had an argument with his family. his family has been notified. he's in child protective services. no charges have been filed yet. we've put in calls to the tsa and fbi as well as the airport officials here at san jose to figure out when this boy, if and when, will return home. so far, we've not received a call back. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. there have been other similar incidents like this one. last year a 15-year-old nigeria boy survived after he stowed away in a commercial plane that flew 45 minutes. experts say the teen survived that situation in part because that plane reached an altitude of only 21,000 feet. in 2010, a 20-year-old romania man survived a flight from vienna to london's air. he sod away -- he stowed away

7:10 am
this race is different and she says time doesn't actually matter. >> i don't think that people look at this as being -- obviously, it's devastating. instead of people turning away and not coming and not running. they are coming full force and full power to be part of the day. i think it's strengthened the support. it's strengthened people's commitment to this race. it's gonna be really exciting to see the faces on people when they cross the finish line. >> obviously we've lost our connection with claudine wong, which she is at the finish line at the boston marathon. we also want to let you know that local runners are facing
