now at noon, a man's body found next to a truck in a san jose parking lot. what one woman says the truck driver may have been doing there. we're learning more about the teen stowaway who allegedly snuck into the wheel well of an airplane and flew to hawaii. what neighbors say about this incredible story. and we're learning new details about the golden state warriors' future arena site. why the president for the warriors say this new location is much better than the original proposal.

just a few hours ago a man in san jose was discovered unconscious with visible injuries. now a homicide investigation is underway. his body was found here on monterey road near stoffer boulevard. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. ann ruben is on the scene and is live with what we're learning from san jose police. good afternoon, ann. >> reporter: good afternoon. police have yet to identify the man or confirm whether he was, in fact, the driver of the truck he was found beside. now, a worker in this warehouse complex discovered the body this morning. police say the man showed visible signs of injuries that he might have beaten. though the park he was driving is parked in front of the warehouse, workers say they are unfamiliar with this trucking company and do not use them. a woman who says she's a friend of the truck over says he sometimes parks just to let -- to get some sleep. she said she was supposed to

meet the owner to give him provisions before he headed out to pick up a load. >> he told me to buy food for him. i came here to bring him the food. i asked this guy and he said it's a murder. i was shocked. yeah. but i'm not sure if it's him or not. >> reporter: again, the man has not been identiffed. crime scene investigators have arrived and are trying to determine more about what happened here. police are hoping that surveillance cameras in this warehouse parking lot might give them some answers. live in san jose, ann ruben, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, ann. ahead on -- a head-on collision near brentwood sent two people to the hospital. it happened around 8:30 at deer valley and empire mine roads in an unincorporated area of eastern contra costa county. a pickup truck and minivan

collided. the two drivers were injured. a medical helicopter and ambulance were called to the scene. there's no word on the extent of the victims' injuries. but officials say both drivers were conscious and alert following the crash. we are slowly getting more pieces of the puzzling story of a 15-year-old boy who apparently managed to stowaway in the landing gear of a maui- bound hawaiian airlines flight. christien kafton is live at the teen's home. the family has yet to talk about this publicly but neighbors say they were able to identify the 15-year-old. >> reporter: yeah, this is certainly the talk of the neighborhood. this is the home we're hearing that the 15-year-old shares with his family in santa clara. lieuout the morning, we've knocked on the door. we've seen the windows part. so far, it seems like nobody is interested in coming out and talking about this story. neighbors tell us although the

family is fairly new to the area, they were able to identify the teenaged boy. >> showed a side view of hill on the news and then -- of him on the news and then we saw the truck out here and realized who it was. >> reporter: neighbors are still amazed at what the 15- year-old boy appears to have pulled off, a five-hour flight tucked into the whel well of a maui bound jet. investigators have video of the teen scaling the fence at the san jose airport. they say he made his way out on the runway and climbed up into a plane seemingly picked at random. a photo of the teen seem to back up what the ground crews say, that he department seem to be dirty and seems to have come through the oxygen and high altitude. today, neighbors say they are shocked their neighbor's teen son is at the center of the

story and has them questioning airport security. >> i think in general this would concern me but in this particular incident, i mean, a little bit, i guess. >> reporter: now, the last we heard the teen is still in hawaii. no word on when he will return to the bay area. at this point, he's not facing any criminal charges for his trip. in the last couple of seconds while the story was airing, we saw somebody else come up to this door and try to knock one more time. still no answer from the time and no word about this incredible survival story. we're live in santa clara, christien kafton, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. two san francisco businesses are back open this noontime after being evacuated because of a bomb scare. it all started with the traffic stop around 9:00 last night by u.s. park police. a driver was allegedly speeding on mason street in the presidio. after he pulled over, a police

dog smelled marijuana. the driver 45-year-old eric smith told the officer he had a pound of pot in his truck delivered to medical marijuana patients. he also said he had what he thought was fireworks. the officer checked him out and deemed it necessary to call for the bomb squad. smith tells us he thinks the officer overreacted. >> asked if i had weapons, knives, explosives. i said i found a fire work in the bed of my vehicle and i picked it up and handed it to him. police also searched smith's apartment on vallejo street and darr carried out several -- carried out several bags of evidence. he was arrested, released and charged with possession of illegal substances. a san francisco family of for including two children will have to stay somewhere else after a fire damaged their

bayview district home. when firefighters arrived beforele:00 a.m., heavy smoke was coming from the home. that's a small if dead end street. the woman who lives there said the fire started while she was out taking her kildz to school. the cause is still unknown. however, the fire department tells us the flames spread from the backyard to the house. it damaged a living room and an upstairs bedroom. the red cross is assisting the family. the search is on this afternoon for whoever stabbed two men inside a san francisco strip club. alex savidge is live with the key evidence police are working with. >> reporter: good afternoon to you. we're told two men are wanted for this attack. right now investigators with the san francisco police department are going over surveillance video from both inside and outside of the garden of eden club trying to see if that video may show what happened here early this morning. san francisco police started to get 911 calls after 1:00 a.m. from this club on broadway near columbus in north beach.

officers came here and found two young men in their late teens to early 20s who have been stabbed in the stomach several times. paramedics rushed them to san francisco general. police say both men were customers at the club. a short time ago, police told me one of those men remains in serious condition while the other one is in much better shape. investigators, though, haven't been able to interview those victims yet. >> the priority is to get them stabilized to make sure that they do pull through and then we'll try to subsequently interview them to try to obtain as much information as possible. that's why we have very limited information. the motive is still unknown. it's unknown if there's an altercation with many suspects or one suspect. we don't have have the answers -- have the answers yet. we're hoping the video evidence will shed light. >> reporter: this type of violence has been unusual along this stretch of broadway where there are plenty of adult entertainment clubs and an active nightlife on the weekend. last year, the city began to

crack down in hopes of curbing out of control partying and drunken brawls. police say that security plan put in place included extra officers on patrol and brought a dramatic reduction in the crime rate. it fell more than 40% in two years. an employee at the nearby beat museum told me he's noticed fewer problems. >> by my estimate aches they seem to be happening less frequently, which is a good thing. it's inevitable every once in a while these things happen. especially when you have testosterone and alcohol. >> reporter: those two stabbing victims have not been identified. police do expect both men to survive. i did try reaching someone from the garden of eden club today for a comment. but no one was available and no one returned our calls to talk about this morning's attack here at the club. we're live this afternoon in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news.

>> thank you. with in oakland, police are -- in oakland, police are investigating a hrms that happened -- a homicide that happened before 5:30. the victim was driving down 103rd near international boulevard in east oakland when someone shot at the driver from another vehicle. the car continued rolling for another block before crashing to a stop. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. so far no arrests have been made. the spca is taking care of four adult dogs and ten puppies rescued from filthy conditions in monterey. the 14 pomeranians and chihuahuas were found in dirty crates inside a parked car yesterday. some crates had as many as four dogs in each of them and were so crowded, the animals could not stand up straight. the dogger's owner said she -- dog's owner said she planned to sell the puppies for $2,000 apiece. new details about the golden state warriors' new arena site in san francisco.

a supreme court issued today. this morning, the high court upheld michigan's ban on using race as a factor in college admissions. the justices said that michigan voters have the right to change their state's constitution to prohibit public colleges and universities from taking race into account in the admission process. in 1996, california outlawed affirmative action in public university admissions. dozens of students in alameda walked out out of class to protest the removal of the school's principal. >> students of the learning center say their principal was escorted off campus and placed

on leave. they say the school's governing board has not provided answers as to why she was removed. the school official confirmed the principal is on leave but declined to provide any details on the matter. new details from the owners of the golden gate state years about their revised plan to build an arena in san francisco. it would be located south of their original water front location in the mission bay neighborhood at at&t park. right now, the land is an empty lot with concrete, grass and weeds but it's set to become the 18,000 feet home of the bay area's nba franchise. the warriors' president explains why the organization feels this new location is better than the original site. >> it will become everything that we envisioned when the project first started and in doing it at this state, we've taken away of what were hears did the facility objections who

didn't think it was the right site for the project. >> the warriors afreed to buy the land from salesfares.com that planned to use it for headquarters. instead, sales force announced they will occupy half of the transbay tower. the warriors plan to have the arena ready for the 2018/2019 nba season. despite this news, mayor quan still hopes the warriors will stay in oakland. she issued this statement saying "we've been hard at work preparing new stadium opportunities for all our sports teams and the warriors remain welcome in those plans should they change their minds." she noted the warriors have been selling out games in oakland for decades. oakland city leaders are trying to clean up a freeway pass that some say needs immediate attention on 680 not far from jack london square. it's an area where homeless people take shelter. people who live and work nearby say conditions are so bad they

are driving people and businesses away. >> what we want it to be a clean, well-lit and safe, so nobody thinks twice about walking from downtown to jack london square. >> a meet be will be held about how to clean up the area. possible solutions include more lighting, murals and even stores. today is earth day. across the bay area, people are marking the occasion with special events. in hayward, the south bay salt pond project is getting some attention. volunteers are rolling up their sleeves and doing some planting. the area is part of -- more than a 15,000-acre project to restore. representative eric swalwell of pleasanton was onhand for the project and said the project will not only benefit wildlife but will hey lou people to enjoy the area -- allow people to enjoy the area. >> we'll have thousands of

people out here every month seeing this beautiful bay but it will also reduce the flood threat in the area. >> the restoration project began ten years ago. it's expected to take another 40 years to complete. today east bay m.u.d. will decide whether to impose tougherring mandatory water restrictions due to the drought. the agency asked its 1.3 million customers to voluntary cut back their water use by 10%. it says by march, customers exceeded that goal. the agency will also decide whether to pump in an emergency supply of water from the sacramento river. that meeting gets underway in about one hour. bon fires in san francisco's ocean beach will have to be put out an hour earlier. the national park service now wants fires put out by 9:00 p.m. the earlier curfew comes after numerous complaints about drunk people leaving fires unattended. the park service also plans to install safer fire pits and

patrol the beach more often. the changes are set to go into effect memorial day weekend. a good-looking day around the bay area. but that good-looking day, a little deceiving. a cooler day and a breezy day out there giving you a live look over the bay. a few puffy clouds in the distance. this behind a system that rolled through in the overnight hours and brought us a measly amount of rain. take a look at these totals. a few 1/100ths reported in some areas. some areas completely dry. mt. diablo picked up .10. that's the most i could find. behind it now, we do have mostly sunny skies. but behind it, we've got the wind, that northerly breeze that's really cranking u i think it's actually going to increase as we get into the second half of your afternoon. take a look at what's happening over the sierra. kirkwood picked up 5 inches. that's great news. of course with our condition, we'll take anything that we can get. unfortunately, it wasn't much. take a look at the numbers

right now. 66 in walnut creek. that's one of the warmer spots. low 60s for santa rosa as well as napa. mid-50s, half moon bay and 57 in san francisco. looking at 64 degrees outside your door right now in mountain view. now onto the winds where we're looking at anywhere from 10 or 8 miles an hour in fairfield. 10 to 15 around the bay. concord reporting 15. oakland reporting 23 with a gust to 25. napa you are gusting to 25 as well. santa rosa gusting to 25. so a brisk one out there this afternoon. hayward, livermore, san jose, mountain view, take a look at sfo right now. gusting to 40 miles per hour. so for the afternoon, these winds actually going to pick up a little bit. i think the afternoon drive could be hectic for some especially crossing over the bridges, it may be a little bit scary even at times. here we are, i stopped it at 5:00. notice the winds. they are sustained winds. we could get gusts to 30 miles an hour. sfo, perhaps the gust gonna stick around for the afternoon.

stock market appears headed for its sixth gain in a row as more u.s. companies are reporting solid earnings. comcast, harley davidson and netflix have surging earnings. sales of existing homes slipped in march to the lowest level in 2012 in july. taking a live look at the big board, the dow is up 90. the nasdaq up 41 and the s&p up 10. there is talk of a possible partnership between apple and nike. it comes just days after nike announced plans to lay off some of its team responsible for the wearable device for the fuel band which measures physical activity. apple has not entered the wearable tech field and now mean bleav the two companies could be partnering to create a wearable product. neither company is reporting the -- confirming the reports. google is challenging nonprofits this earth day and

offering a free pair of google glass in return. today, the tech giant is asking groups to propose ideas how to use google glass in their work. the five charities that propose the best ideas by may 20th will get a free google glass, a trip to google for training and a $25,000 grant to help make their project a reality. conservationists at the world wildlife fund are using google glass for hands-free field research and researchers in nepala use the device to help protect rhinos. we're getting a look at the new postage stamp honoring harvey milk. the u.s. postal service released this picture of the stamp showing milk in front of his camera store in san francisco. he was elected to the board of supervisors in 1977 making him the first openly gay elected official in california. he and san francisco mayor george moscone were assassinated the next year. the kem ma rative stamp will be
