nearly nine months after a popular dog walker was killed in oakland's maxwell park neighborhood, police say there is a major development in the case. a man trying to escape a fire in his apartment had to leave his roommate behind in the burning unit. what he did to alert his roommate and what is believed to have caused the fire. and before the wrerking ball moves in, san francisco's beloved candlestick park is set to host one final concert. details about the farewell show and the music legend slated to

headline it. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell a major development in a homicide case that rocked the oakland community of maxwell park after a popular dog walker was killed last summer. ktvu's sal castanedo joins us live with what we're learning now about the case. good afternoon, sal. >> reporter: tori, good afternoon. many remember judy solomon as the dog nanny as -- in the neighborhood. she was killed while driving in east oakland next to her -- or close to her home. i want to show you video of the crime scene last summer. the 66-year-old professional dog walker was shot and killed as she drove her subaru up the hill next to a cemetery on fairfax last july. after she was shot, her car rolled backward down the hill, stopped, ran into a parked car. she was pronounced dead at the scene. today oakland police are set to announce the arrest of two men

in the case and some of the neighborhood has been asking why. apparently, the police say this all stems from a robbery and an argument that she got into with these men. at the crime scene, police found beer bottles in the area and it's unclear if that led them to the suspect. some neighbors i spoke with at the time, say young people partying in their cars is a nuisance in the area and wandered if it could be connected to the killing. as tori mentioned, there are going to be more details released at a noon news -- or 12:30 news conference in oakland. the district attorney is already announced -- has already announced that he or she may pursue special circumstances in this case because the two men arrested with felons. live in oakland, sal castanedo, ktvu channel 2 news. one man was seriously wounded this morning in a shooting in oakland's golden gate district near 62nd and san

pablo avenue, near the aspire berkeley maynard academy and the golden gate rec center. police say a witness took the man to highland hospital where he's in critical but stable condition. it's unclear what held up to the shooting but police who live nearby say they heard several loud gunshots. >> about three shots and then about -- it felt like 10, 15 minutes later, one shot. >> reporter: oh, really? >> yes. pop, pop, pop. and then sometime later, pop. >> police looked for evidence for several hours this morning. no word on what led up to the shooting or any possible suspects. in about an hour, oakland police will announce they are team upg with the special media site next door in an effort to reduce crime in the city. as we first reported at 6:00, there will be a section where crime and safety issues are posted. several bay area neighborhoods use next door. san jose police began partnering with it two years

ago. oakland police are expected to give details on their partnership and how they hope it will increase community involvement. we have new details now about a homicide tuesday morning in san jose. police have confirmed the name of the victim. they say someone found the body of 48-year-old dat nguyen in a warehouse parking lot along monterey. he was lying near the big rig he drove and apparently stopped to rest. his hands were bound with zip ties and he was wearing only his underwear and t-shirt. police are looking for surveillance video and witnesses. one man is in the hospital after a fire raced through an apartment building near san jose state forcing nearly a dozen students to evacuate. the fire started about 11:30 last night when firefighters say a man told them he was trying to light a candle and dropped a match onto a couch. that man was able to make it out but had to use his cell phone to call his roommate

inside to warn him to get out. witnesses say the roommate came bursting out of the apartments running through the flames. >> i saw one guy as i stepped out. he just went out as faf as he could -- as fas as he could. i -- as far as as he could. he had flames on miss backs. efgot wheeled out by paramedics. >> firefighter says the roommate has second-degree burns but is secretaried to survive. the engine compartment at the back of a muni bus caught fire in san francisco. that was at hour howard and main streets around 8:45 on the 36 marina express line. no wrgs were on board. the driver got out safely. the muni towed the bus to try to figure out how and why it caught fire. we're now hearing from the father of the teen who flew from san jose to maui as a stowaway in the wheel well of a jet. the 15-year-old boy recently

moved to santa clara with his mother, stepfather and younger siblings. his father told "the voice of america" he first learned about his son's incredibly journey from police in hawaii. he said "they told me they were holding my son. i was shocked. i wandered how my son went there." stunned airport workers gave the hungry boy teriyaki meatballs, right, cookies and a bottle of water. he started to just attend classes at santa clara high school and does speak english as a second language. he was struggling in school and was happy during his four years in the united states. quoting the father again, he was talking about going back to africa where his grandparents live. we want to go back but due to the current lirning conditions, we can't go back. the teen is still recovering at a hospital in hawaii. no word on when he will return to the bay area. police have an 84-year-old man in custody in connection

with the shooting that locked down a daly city medical center for hours. it's a story we covered for you live. the suspect is identified as 84- year-old ray manned awassi. he surrendered peacefully. nans call him a nice, quiet man who has live -- neighbors call him a nice, quiet man who has lived in the home for 30 years. police say he fired a gun near seton medical center. what remains unclear is the motive. >> when people think of 84-year- old people, they don't think of someone 84 committing this type of crime. i think some people were shocked at the age of the suspect. >> police say they found bullet frag meantsen on the second floor of the medical building. he's now in san mateo county jail where he's expected to be charged with attempted murder. the fda released proposed regulations for the fast-

growing an often criticized elek tropic cigarette industry -- electronic cigarette industry. kyla campbell has more. >> reporter: i have a copy of the proposal. officials want to ban the sale of these cigarettes to minor. they want the makers to register with the agency, report ingree unders and only market new products after fda review. the fed want them to include health warning labels on their product. the announcement comes after groups raised concerns over e- cigarettes and question the industry's marketing tactics, including flavors that appeal to young people. the fda's proposal does not ban flavors of e-cigarette, curb marketing or set standards. once the rules are finalized, the fda could propose restrictions, no timetable when

the rules could kick in. die law campbell, ktvu channel 2 news. a former commander of the famous navy blue angels airshow team is under investigation for allegations of hazing and sexual harassment under his command. captain gregory mcwirther was relieved of his duties on friday. he commanded the blue angems during two stints between 2008 and 2012. according to reuters, the former member of the blue angels filed a complaint last month accusing him of using sexually expolicist speech, displays of pornography and jokes about sexual orientation. a man found dead at the sonoma county central disposal station is identified as 39- year-old mathew dean. h his body was discovered yesterday. investigators say there's no sign of foul play. they believe the body may have come from a transfer truck from the healdsburg area. an autopsy is scheduled today.

targeting the chinese and vietnamese communities to let them know about the deadly threat of hepatitis d. mike honda joined community leaders in san jose for the announcement and the unveiling. he says new will provide $90 million for programs like this across the country. this is important because one in ten asian and pacific islanders is chronically infected with hepatitis b worldwide. two out of three don't know they are infected and one in four will develop liver cancer or liver disease if left untreated. this new legislation is an important step toward the eradication of the hepatitis epidemic, the silent killer. >> the santa clara county health department introduced its new hepatitis b prevention coordinator. it makes it the first county in the nation to create a position
