10:30 am
hi, everybody. i'm beth troutman. great videos always have a great story behind them. we've got this "right this minute." ♪ >> easy. discovering a little blue hairon with braided fishing line wrapped around its leg. >> meet the hero that caught a wild bird. curious too. >> a little southern ingenuity right there. jet boats head upstream on the salmon river. >> they can go up to 100 miles an hour. >> while that seems even faster coming straight at you.
10:31 am
the soccer stadium looks more like -- >> the depth of -- >> see what got the rowdy crowd all flared up. plus, how to get your shot at a new ipad mini. a kissing campaign to make you wonder -- >> are they going to kiss? >> the serenade creating some sticky situations. >> what is the person sitting next to you say? >> out of here. this guy out on his boat in florida. not fishing for birds. he is actually trying to rescue a bird. >> easy. >> we got this from jukin video. it was up on the deer meat for dinner youtube channel. it's dedicated to ethical hunting. that is actually a little blue heron, and that blue heron has braided fishing line wrapped around its leg. >> look how messed up his leg is here. sfroo we need scizzors to -- it will be difficult to untangle it.
10:32 am
>> he actually needs a knife. >> there should be a knife. >> unfortunately, they both forgot their knives. >> do you have a little knife? >> they go over to some other boaters, and these boaters hand their knives over, and they get to work. >> look out here at the top of this heron's leg. >> oh, i didn't even notice that. i was looking at the bottom. >> look at the braided line i just got off his leg. >> then it time for him to get to work on the injury. >> there has to be a hook in there. >> his whered is to actually remove some of the flesh to get some of the infection away from the wound. >> i get all this rotten flesh off there, and he will be all right. >> as you well know, we like to find out the stories behind these videos, and we found this guy. his name is robert errington from jupiter, florida, and we have him via skype right this minute. welcome to the show, robert. well done. how do you catch the bird? >> just a little bit of southern ingenuity right there. you know, i had seen that bird the day previous, and i knew he
10:33 am
had line wrapped around him. i knew his leg was injured, and i wanted to catch him. can you imagine if you had like fishing line and a hook jammed into your leg, and you are trying to walk around and you are trying to survive in the wild? that would be terrible. so i'm going to do my best to fix him. i feel that i walk a straight line right in between ultra conservation and ethical hunting. >> most people would stop with getting that knot that was on his leg. you really performed surgery on this little guy. >> i knew that in order to really get that bird a fighting chance i had to cut away the rotten flesh. i had to dig the hook out. i had to get what was embedded up into his thigh. once i got it out, he was -- >> have you seen this little blue heron again after it happened? >> the very next day i went back. the bird flew right over my boat and sat down. the leg was almost -- it looked 100% better. every time i go over there, he flies right over to my boat.
10:34 am
i flip him a couple of fish, and he is, like, he is back. when you are a purse snatcher, don't trust a stranger who volunteers to be your get-away driver because you might end up here. the get-away driver is on a scooter, and look where he pulls up. oh, that's a police station. those are the police who are not letting the purse snatcher get away. >> did the driver of the motorcycle drop the guy off there on purpose? >> well, yes, he did. let me take you back to what happened. the guy on the scooter heard that a woman had her purse snatched, so he was in the parking lot and ran into the thief and told the thief, hey, dude, i'm cool, i'm cool, get on. i'll fwif you a ride. he gave him a ride to the police station. as you can see, the police don't let him go. >> that's pretty awesome. >> he was a smart fellow for being cool, calm, and collected and getting this guy to the police. just dropping him right off at the jail cell basically. >> what i love is at least
10:35 am
somebody thought, hey, let's close the gate and not let the guy out. the guy is up against the wall. the police are trying to get him under control. the guy didn't get away with it like he thought he would. imagine, you think it's some kind of -- hey, i'm cool. i'll get you away. who believes that? >> now, this appears to be the calmest robbery i think i have ever seen. this happened in baltimore in maryland. you notice this guy comes in with -- he has his hands in his pocket, and, of course, to authorities he went up to purchase something, but as soon as the cash register opened, they say he flashed a knife. you can't see it here, and the clerk doesn't look like he is disturbed, but he gives the man what police say he demanded, which was the money. >> he handed him a wad of cash. it was an undisclosed amount of money. >> he lifts up the cash register drawer to make sure there was nothing hidden underneath and walked away. >> no kidding. when this guy leaned over to look in the cash register, why didn't that guy just thump him on the back of the head?
10:36 am
>> sometimes they do what they're told to do. i just want you to listen to a few seconds of this video here first. a couple big crash sounds. sounds like somebody trying to break in the front door of an apartment building or something. no, a crash from the salmon river jet boat race in riggins, idaho. speed boats flying. they can go up to 100 miles an hour. lots of spectators out there. well, watch this. and there is that sound that you heard. one of those boats just gets out of control, crashes into the rocks, comes really close to where those people are standing. we've got this exact same crash from another angle moving further down the river. oh, wow. that boat sshgs like, up on the shore now. it's about five feet out of the water. >> doesn't quite reach the spectors and doesn't look like there's any injuries. this is actually the 30th annual version of thisee long time now. the website from riggins, idaho,
10:37 am
say they are the white water capital. this is the big-time race. they feature this race on the show last year, another wreck. the boat flipped over and capsizeded. crashes are a part of this thing. i love this whole idea of racing upstream in a boat. >> they got the idea from salmon. salmon going upstream. >> salmon river. >> right. >> you paint the boat to look like fish. >> that would be cool. hey, everybody. we've got an ipad mini to give away in a little bit. >> you'll need the buzz word and a twitter account to enter. if you don't have a twitter account, don't worry. it's ease where i to create it. >> the buzz word is coming up. you have to be at least 18 years old and a u.s. resident to enter. >> stand by for the rcm ipad mini give-away. soccer fans are a passionate bunch. especially around the world. check out this match in greece.
10:38 am
>> what is this? flares. blue sticks. you got a problem on the road. >> this looks like the depth of mordor or the center of a volcano. the place is going bonkers, out of their minds. people are holding flares up throughout the stadium. some people are even throwing the flares down to the pitch. this is before the match even started. while the players are coming out on to the pitch to shake hands. it delayed the match for more than an hour because of all the smoke. that wasn't the worst of it. there were fights. of course. and also somebody dumped a crate of anchovies on the visiting team's bench. >> oh, great. >> anchovies? >> the patch between paok and oliakos. they're from port city in athens.
10:39 am
they're also known as the anchovies. some fan came and dumped a bunch of anchovies on their bench. that guy was arrested along with the spectator that is got in fights and some players also fought on the pitch during this match. >> now -- cases of beer. it's -- >> christian is right. this happens frequently. not to this magnitude. let's go to the game and get pumped to see our team and delay it. let's wait as long as we can to see our team play on the field. >> this is part of their show, though. to them, like, the game isn't the only thing they're out there for. it's also the chaos. >> it looks like the fires of hell. >> some people walked out of there with no facial hair. >> right. the rock climber spent ten hours wedged in a crevice. >> apparently his hips were jammed. >> oh. >> in the tiny spot. >> the crazy stunt he was trying to pull and what it took to finally pull him out.
10:40 am
plus, look who doubled in the mechanic shop. >> i think he is looking for some work. >> i'm thinking where is mom? >> what the little fell wroe is up to next. u have time to shop for car insurance today? yeah. i heard about progressive's "name your price" tool? i guess you can tell them how much you want to pay and it gives you a range of options to choose from. huh? i'm looking at it right now. oh, yeah? yeah. what's the... guest room situation?
10:41 am
the "name your price" tool, making the world a little more progressive.
10:42 am
what you are about to see here, the best way i can describe it, a man stuck between a rock and another rock. this is in western vitoria in australia. quite literally, there is a 24-year-old man, a climber, who
10:43 am
was apparently doing some sort of climbing exercises known as the squeeze test where you purposely put yourself through this tiny crevice to try to get to the other side. >> why would you do this willingly? >> dude got stuck for ten hours. >> oh, my gosh. >> overnight. he had to call his friends. his friends called emergency crews. they showed up. you can see them here trying to get this guy out. apparently his hips were jammed in this tiny spot. not to mention overnight it got cold. trapped for ten hours. yeah. you can see the moment right here where they're able to th use a pulley system and a bunch of olive oil. >> oh, that makes sense. >> lubed him up to get him out of there. abc muse in australia also talked to his friends, and this is this kind of annoyed me. i'm going to be honest. oh, would you do this again? >> probably.
10:44 am
>> i'm supposed to say not because there will be a lot of people that will go through it. i can guarantee you that. >> this isn't the first time this has happened. a video from 2009 that was popular on the internet. can you see this is the same spot. you can see how tight it really is. >> why would you do this? >> the guy who was stuck, the 24-year-old, did suffer some minor cuts and some hypothermia from this, but he made it out otherwise okay. >> his skin is beautifully moist and supple now with all that olive oil. >> yeah. he is not ashy at all. somebody give this bear a job because that's what i think it wants. this is a tiny bear cub. >> oh, man. [ screaming ] >> he walked into a garage. i'm thinking he is looking for some work. >> i'm thinking where is mom? >> i am too. i'm thinking either mom is on the way in to attack or this is a little orphan bear. >> there's no word on where mom is, but she couldn't have been too far away because this is a tiny little thing. >> he is having a hard time on
10:45 am
those slippery mechanics floors. >> he probably wants mom to come get him, or he is really a big car enthusiast. >> he wants to check out what's under the hood. >> in this video you are about to see a cat get mauled by a puppy. >> this adorable video, here you have a puppy and panda in area. watch what they do. >> watch what happens. >> whoa, whoa. >> oh. >> they're taking her down. >> the cat is, like, oh, my gosh. are you kidding? you see the cat for one seconds. the dog loves the cat. for a second you think, okay, he is going to try to get out, but in the end even this cat can'ts are the puppy. >> these are the fattest puppies i have ever seen. >> big puppy gang mentality. they all pounced on at the same time. >> finally, she's lifted out of the cage. >> oh, yeah. >> the final cut king has some competition.
