mayo incident four years ago. janine de la vega is there where there is extra security there today and students are declaring their unity. we will check in with her in a moment. it is monday, may 5th i'm pam cook. >> yes, you are. good morning i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and jacket. >> maybe a light jacket. a lot of 50s. but it will be a breezy day. we have mostly cloudy skies in the morning and then we will go partly sunny. there are areas of rain to the north. a mix of sun and clouds there. the wind will pick up and a cool pattern for this time of year. we will see some of that rain stretching. had some rain last night to fort brag. 40s and 50s on your temps. temperatures held up because of cloud cover. for ohs 13 miles an hour.

it is the sign of things to come. it will really pick up. that is the low. it's on its way into the northern part of the state. showers to the north. probably not here. but i almost mention them. 50s and 60s or very low 70s. >> there was a problem with the why that directs trains down to fremont or coming up to the concord line. it was not functioning. and some had to go out of their way and manually switch back.

traffic is also going to be still looking good in the east bay. on highway 24. you are driving to the tunnel. bay privilege toll plaza looks like it's filled in. this is about a 20 minute drive time into san francisco. 6:03 let's go back to the desk. a veteran superintendent pilot died after a stunt show. now the response time by emergency crews are being questioned after witnesses say it took five minutes for them to reach the crash site. the ntsb now investigating the crash and this morning we are learning more about the pilot

that was killed. alex savidge is in half-moon bay where the pilot is from. just talked with a man who worked with him. >> reporter: well this veteran stunt pilot was based here out of the half-moon bay air pilot. and this morning those who knew 77-year-old eddie andreini are remembering him as someone who put his family above everyone else. this was the scene yesterday. witnesses captured much of what happened yesterday at the air show event as his plane was upside down and very low to the ground. that is when the plane struck the ground and skidded in front of that huge crowd there. the plane burst into flames with andrea know still inside of it. friends say he had been flying since he was 16 years old. he performed in more than 1,000 air shows across the country. a man we talked to this morning saying he was a skilled pilot,

a loving husband, father, and grandfather. >> his family, his friends he cared about people. you know. i he really generally cared about people. that's what i loved about eddie. >> reporter: here's youtube video of andreini from a sacramento air show that happened two years ago. he was performing the same mover that lead up to yesterday's deadly crash. and in this particular trick a knife is ever secured to the tail of the plane and it slices a ribbon. following yesterday's accident, witnesses at the event say it took five minutes for first responders to get there top the crash site out on the tarmac and in that time they say the fire spread very quickly inside the plane. so some are questioning the response time yesterday and they believe it took longer

happening today security is increased at a south bay high school and it's all because of cinco de mayo. some are starting to protest what teenagers did four years ago by wearing a -- >> reporter: it has a hand prints of the students on it. this is a symbol of how they feel. they want to move past the controversy and show unity. but there is a tea party group called the gilroy morgan hill patriots that will be demonstrating outside live oak high school at 7:30 this morning. they say the students freedom of speech was violated back in 2010. that is when four students wore american flag t-shirts on cinco de mayo. the students say it was out of

pride. but latino students saw it as disrespectful. a recent ninth circuit court ruling sided with the school district. in anticipation of cinco de mayo students put together a video and posted it on youtube. they say that the past is the past. >> they don't like the outside attention and we're trying to help them with that. but they wanted to send a message that what is the media really depicted has a divided school is not really a divided school. it's a unified school. >> while the patriot group say they are supporting freedom of speech, there is concern violent may break out. a motorcycle club is planning a

rally. that has caused parenten os -- parents and other community members to hold a rally. they don't want to disturb the students either and say they will just have 50 demonstrators. they say they have no association with the motorcycle club holding the afternoon rally. the school has put up a temporary chain link fence. back out here live you can see that fence right up here. students have not arrived yet at school but we will be sure to have are you will hear what the school plans on doing if anybody shows up bearer wearing an american flag t-shirt. in san jose that annual cinco de mayo celebration quickly turned into chaos.

several arrests were made last night. at one point they jumped a city bus. police were working over time trying to keep things under control. >> it gets crazy because alcohol gets involved and people get out of hand. it happens every year. >> many stores actually close down early to try to prevent vandalism after several businesses were damaged last year. more people are expected to celebrate in san jose tonight. >> expect a lot of people patrolling streets and highways looking for drunk drivers on this cinco de mayo. many are a major party scene. in 2012 officials say drunk driving caused almost half of all traffic deaths in the state. the advice from the police have a designated driver or catch a cab. time is 6:10.

joe biden was heckled to stop deportation and he hinted the obama administration will do just that. >> the immigrant community represents something special we never talk about. >> he did not elaborate further. republicans countered that illegal immigrants have to be deported as a matter of law. >> you have to fix illegal immigration. i'm in favor of that the answer is implement the law. >> it's stuck in the house after it was passed in the senate. house speaker john boehner says republicans are working on the issue but the house will take a peace meal approach to immigration reform. >> a trial to decide whether or

not to reopen martins beach on the san mateo coast is set to get under way in a few hours from now. there is only one way to get to the public beach but it is a road that runs on private property. billionaire property owner bought it six years ago and locked the gate. he now faces charges that he violated state law by forbidding public access to the beach. sheriffs deputies find themselves in a very dangerous situation while responding to a domestic dispute incident in alameda county. coming up why investigators say one suspect they confronted was very dangerous. >> the ride of doom. severe turbulence injuring several people. >> good morning. we are still looking at a commute that is so far so good. we'll tell you a little more about the morning commute. >> mostly cloudy skies here. we actually have cooler

welcome back. the team leading the search for that missing malaysian airlines jet they have a new plan. they will re-examine all the information gathered in that two month long search for that missing plane. they want to make sure they have been searching in the right place. they are looking through all that information again will

give new clues to help find that plane. the ride of doom. that is how passengers on board a flight out of philadelphia describe their experience after hitting a severe patch of turbulence. witnesses say things got crazy shortly after taking off. heading toward orlando last night. >> climbing, climbing, and climbing. and there was a huge drop. i was sitting. i had any seat belt on. i saw the lady three rows in front of me she mashed her head all the way up to the plastic. the plastic was crack cocainen and a piece of hair was hanging out of the plastic. >> three other people were hurt on the board. the plane turned around and the rescheduled flight made it to florida. trying to identify a man's body discovered near stinson beach. they found the remains

yesterday. although they speak very little english, they managed to reach ma rain county first responders. investigators say the body was found close to highway 1 on national parkland. earlier reports indicate it is the body of an adult man. police in santa barbara trying to find out high a college student died out there. her body was found yesterday morning. it's a town that is home to 2300 people. most of them college students. in recent months police say there have been several sexual assaults. this morning the warriors will clean out their locker. their exciting season came to a heartbreaking end. golden state first loss raising concerns about the job security

it looks like the problem had been fixed. this is basically just drawing it for you. the switch there. that was not happening properly. but now the trains are moving. and there is some residual delays. as we look at the bay area right now we don't see a huge delay on 80 or highway 24. we already see delays on 580 coming through. and you can see traffic here let's say if you want to draw a line from tracy to dublin interchange, it will be a little longer than you want to see it through this area. so give yourself extra time. this freeway is always good for a delay. let's move along and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it looks like it got heavy early. about a 20 minute drive time into san francisco. if you are looking at the commute in the san jose area, northbound 280 right at 880 that traffic does look good. let's go to steve.

welcome back. it is 6:25. incredible story a colorado woman is in critical condition this morning after being trapped for days in the wreckage of her car. she was reported missing four days ago. she was rescued after hikers spotted her upside down car. she had written dote notes on an umbrella pleading for help. he was severely dehydrated and listed in critical condition. highway patrol is making a big difference on bay area freeways by flying several thousand feet up in the air. goalen beat air operation patrols all nine bay area counties with freeways and highways spanning 6900 square miles. now they have helicopters and

planes and they can track dangerous drivers from the air. avoiding the need for a high speed chase down on the ground. >> we are look for the people that are doing dangerous things that are driving in such a way that they are a danger to themselves and and a danger to the people around them. >> the air units had sophisticated cameras. they recently busted a motorcyclist going up to 120 miles an hour on interstate 580 in oakland. tickets go on sale this morning for the final concert at candle stick park. on august 14th mccartney will return to the place where the beatles played their last concert in 1966. tickets go on sale at 10:00 a.m.. it's the last stop on the mccartney out there store. deadly police shooting in the east bay. the person killed an 18-year- old high school student. what we have learned from his

it will be a cooler day. below normal temps. below normal. upper 50s for many. but then we will wait for the low to come in. that will give us partly cloudy, mostly cloudy conditions and then a little mix of sun in here. i will mention mendocino county and lake county. probably not further south than that. as the low goes over the sierra tonight and tomorrow, the wind will we'll pick up. it will be a cooler today. today will be a lot of upper 60s. we will see that rain on the north coast. there is not a lot but there is a little bit there. some of it is tracking north to south. 40s and 50s. if you don't have a breeze or that wind has picked up yet, it will. tonight, tomorrow. things could get down right windy. the lows there it's on its way tootsie ever are nevada and then it will stop in las vegas. maybe hang out by the pool. it will give us a windy

pattern. a lot of 60s here. there will be a few upper 50s to low 70s. here is sal. steve, good morning. we are looking at a commute where traffic will be a little slow in some areas already. as we look at interstate 80 from the kaw keys in bridge to the mccarthur maze. a commute a lot of people make. the drive time is up to 22 minutes. which is not too far from the starting drive time we see. you can still call it a manageable commute. when you get to the drive time, it is a little elevated. i think this will have something to do with bart problems that we're just about to talk about in a moment. there are no major problems on the span. let's talk about the south bay.

we have mostly clear conditions. however the traffic on 85 and 101 and 280 still off to a very good start. right now bart is recovering from a major delay this morning. brian flores is live in oakland. >> reporter: we are live at bart station. as you mentioned earlier there was a problem with one of the pitching lines between the 12th street bart station and lake merit. it appears this problem has been fixed but also as you mentioned as well earlier there could be residual delays because of this brackish ewe from earlier this -- because of this track issue from earlier this morning. we were down near the tracks just a half hour ago. that was the announcement made by passengers here. telling them of the delays. there was a problem with the

oakland y section of the tracks. but begin it was an earlier switching problem that appeared that the train trains are moving through nicely thousand. it appears the switching problem has been fixed but there could be residual delays earlier from this problem. live in oakland brian flores ktvu channel 2 morning news. we have new details about the investigation of a deadly police shooting in dublin. an 18-year-old man threatened police officers with a baseball bat. tara moriarty is joining us live from the home where this happened. you talked to a friend of the family. >> what happened here was not right. he says that the family is in shock after an 18-year-old was

shot and killed by police officer. now this all happened last night while three officers were responding to a domestic violence call. investigators say an officer with ere was forced to shoot and kill an 18-year-old after he attacked him with a baseball bat. he thought his life was in immediate danger and fired several rounds. witnesses tell a different story. the suspect did not hit anyone with a bat. they say he was on his knees and diving from a yellow aluminum baseball mat when the officers shot him five times. police say it appears he physically assaulted his mother. the friend says the suspect was a senior at a nearby high school and had just been discharged from the hospital and not acting normally. police have not commented if they will be placed on administrative leave. we have reached out to dublin

police. live from dublin i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. three suspects are in the jail accused of brutally beating two sheriffs deputies. they are facing felony charges following the violent incident in castro valley. the deputies were attacked while trying to break up a fight. investigators say he tried to stang l one deputy. >> he is in serious condition with severe facial structure. time is 6:36. we are learning more this morning about the incredible career of a popular bay area aerobatic pilot killed in a firey air show crash. alex savidge is in half-moon bay where he lived and talking to people who remember him as a

great friend and family man. >> reporter: this veteran high pirate has several planes -- veteran pilot has several planes. this is where he performed at events all around the country. yesterday he was performing right here in the bay area at travis air force base during the thunder over solano event. the plane burst into flames with andreini still inside of it. he had performed #-zed in more than 100 air shows around the country. >> i was amazed. when i started working.

>> and then the maneuver he was attempting yesterday, he has done it many times before. this is youtube video from an air show two years ago. at that show he was performing that maneuver that led up to yesterday's crash. a knife is attached to the tail of the plane and is supposed to slice through a ribbon that is held 20 feet from the runway. this morning there are questions about the energy response times. live in half-moon bay alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news.

>> now this crash comes a week after a small plane crashed into the bay just north of the richmond san rafael bridge. the pilot in that crash also killed. investigators say he was flying alongside another plane when they collided in midair. both planes were coming back from an air show in half-moon bay. the pilot identified as 33-year- old david everett. we talked to bart police about a stabbing. police say one bart passenger stabbed another in the arm as the train was approaching the lake merit station. police stopped the train to look for the attacker but he got off the train at another station. the man stabbed is listed in stable condition. police say they don't know if this was a random attack or if the man stabbed was targeted. governor jerry brown will honor and pay tribute to eight law enforcement officers killed last year in the line of duty.

the governor will speak at a memorial ceremony. among those being honored # santa cruz police officers. their names will be added toes california police officers monument in sacramento. new this morning ceo of  target has resigned. almost five months after that security breach that effected almost 90 million customers. the ceo has agreed to step down effective immediately. he also said he will resign from targets board of directors. tart has opponented the chief financial officer as the interim president and ceo. dramatic show dun between police and protestors after a wild cinco de mayo celebration in the south bay. coming up at 7:00 the arrest

those demonstrators that are gathered there. there is a woman in the distance holding an american flag and in 15 minutes we are told that parents will also be kicking off a peaceful march. security has been ramped up in anticipation for the protest happening year in the morning andth afternoon. at 7:30 a.m. demonstrators that call themselves the gilroy morgan hill patriots will be protesting what happened back in 2010. four students wore american flag t-shirts on cinco de mayo and were told to turn them inside out. a recent ninth circuit court ruling cited with the school district. students will not be punished if they wear american flags on their shirts today. >> there is a regular dress code. and they have to hear the dress code. and as far as the american flag

quake damage in thy land they are -- in thailand are popping up all over social media. look at this. just a few we found on twitter and facebook. roads, buildings, and buddhist temples damaged in thailand. information is still coming in but so far we've had no reports of any injuries. at least three performers remain in critical condition following a circus accident. i want to warn you this video you're about to see is graphic. it happened yesterday at the ringling brothers barnum and bailey performance. they were performing a trip called the human chandelier when the support frame collapsed. the circus has canceled two performances scheduled for today. let's check in with tori campbell see what is coming up

the ingredient is proplonated vegetable oil. the teen says the oil is linked to a flame retar dent. pepsi eliminated that oil from gatorade last year. it was a flight that passengers called the ride of doom. >> just up in the air and lifted out of our seats. seeing things flying all over the place. >> that scary ride on a u.s. airways flight that injured several people. >> more tom in the oscar pis -- and more testimony in the oscar pistorius trial. moments after the athlete's girlfriend was shot to death.

welcome back. richmond police are in facing the city's second homicide in two days. the latest happened at 6:00 last night. police responded to gunshots at virginia avenue and south 12th street. one person died at the scene. another gunshot victim showed up at the hospital. investigators believe the shooting was triggered by a neighborhood disturb but no arrests have been made. police are also still looking for the person who shot and killed a man driving on interstate 580 on saturday.
