are seeing that. it will be breezy and windy all the way into tomorrow. forecast calls for clouds and then going mostly sunny. 63 in san francisco. i have a couple of sprinkles reported, a couple cells went by oakley, brentwood, antioch and a little bit towards clayton. but not much. just a couple of sprinkles. there's rain out in the central valley. it it looks like it's winding down. we're on the western edge of it here. 45 napa. they were 43. 50 half moon bay. 51 santa rosa. 47 walnut creek. so if you think it's cool out, it is. it's pretty chilly out there. it will continue to be that way into tomorrow. you can see some of the cloud cover and the rain making a b- line from the sacramento valley to the san joaquin valley. it will be a windy and cool pattern. morning clouds, afternoon sun. a lot of 60s here. upper 60s. very low 70s. here's sal. >> all right, steve. good morning to you. we're looking at slow traffic

in many areas now that we're at the peak of the morning commute. the drive from the car keen niz to the macarthur maze is 28 minutes with speeds averages more than 40 miles an hour. not too bad but definitely slow spots along the way. bay bridge toll plaza, traffic is backed up to almost the bottom of the macarthur maze. the metering lights are on leading to a 30-minute plus drive time into san francisco, which is not unusual. as we look at san jose, northbound 280 is slow right near highway 17 and 85 the sale. we don't have a lot of slow traffic on other parts. i think we're off to a nice start in san jose considering what time of the morning it is. a little bit slow on northbound 101 approaching sunnyvale. 7:03. back to the desk. >> all right. thank you, sal. happening today -- he's been acquitted of attempted peeking charges. but now supervisor effren carrillo faces a new challenge. tara moriarty is in santa rosa

with more on the meeting that could actually remove him from office. good morning, tara. >> reporter: good morning. we know that at least two female supervisors have gone on record saying they want effren carrillo gone. as to how the other people on the board feel, we'll have to wait in the next three hours when the meeting starts. but they could pass a resolution for his resignation. now, all of this happened just days after a not guilty verdict. effren carrillo was acquitted of peeping charges. he looked into a women's wid wearing nothing but underwear and sox and told the jury he wanted to have sex with the neighbor but was not peeking at her. last night, shirley zane called for effren carrillo's resignation on her facebook page calling his actions abominable. zane said she was shocked by effren carrillo's testimony after getting dropped off by his girlfriend at his apartment complex, he took off his

clothes, grabbed a couple of beers, looked through the window of a neighbor. zane said i don't think a man who sees a woman as an object qualifies as leadership. you can tell us what you think on facebook and twitter. the board meets again this morning. we're gonna head over the to the county administrative offices to see if we can get reaction from supervisors or perhaps from from effren carrillo himself. we'll let you know next hour. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, tara. there is a new major new development in the search for a missing toddler. family members confirm the doddler of 21-month-old zafny webb committed suicide in his home last last week. john webb was considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his daughter. oakland police and the fbi have

spent the last ten months looking for the missing toddler. webb's suicide leavings a gaping hole in this investigation. >> like time stopped. what? you are kidding. and my first question, did he leave a note to say anything about daphne? no, he did not. >> last summer, webb reported his daughter had been kidnapped from outside an east oakland market. he was briefly jailed on dhimed endangerment after telling police he -- jailed on child endangerment after telling police he left the child in his car. the toddler was reported missing on july 10th of last year. the next day, police arrested her father on suspicion of felony child endangerment. no charges were ever filed, though, and john webb was released. new this morning, a 77-year- old man who was reported missing in newark has been found safe. jose abeua was reported missing

last night after he left for his daily walk but he didn't come hole. at this point, police have not given us details about the circumstances of his disappearance but they say he's been safely reunited with his family. santa clara county prosecutors are blaming human error for a mixup in the county's crime lab. the crime lab technician used the wrong chemical to perform preliminary tests for methamphetamine. that mixup involved 2500 blood samples. retesting turned up only seven false positives. prosecutors say the mistake will only have a limited effect on these drug cases. this morning, a trial will begin for four people who police say were involved in the ambush, robbery and killing of a louisiana man who was visiting san francisco. prosecutors say that in 2009, a woman lured 26-year-old michael bailey and two friends to the bayview district, where her friends then robbed those men

at gunpoint. police say the gunmen hit one of bailey's friends so bailey got up to help, argued with the gunman and he was killed. opening statements are due to begin at 9:00. 7:08. there is a battle over bus ads in san francisco. muni's board of directors could decide to double the number of buses it allows to be wrapped in ads. brian flores is live in san francisco where some people say it just boils down to a case of money verses beauty. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, tori. yeah, you are exactly right. we have a lot of mixed reaction from muni riders about this issue. some say it's a good thing because obviously it would generate millions of dollars for the city but others including some board of supervisors, think it will be an eyesore and would tarnish the city's beauty. that meeting is scheduled with the budget and finance subcommittee scheduled for 10:00 a.m. this has been a hotly contested issue on both sides for three years now. the proposal on the table, double the amount of muni buses

with advertisements wrapped around them. it could call for 30 buses to be wrapped in ads at any given time. some on the board think it's a good idea because it would generate written income. but some think it could be an eyesore and others say it would tarnish the city's image. we spoke to others and they are mixed about the issue. >> i think it's a great idea but also at the same time, it's kind of a distraction because it's so colorful, kind of vivid. it's a good and bad thing for the community and also the passengers who ride the muni. >> reporter: the proposal would authorize the city and county to go into a contract with advertiser tighten outdoor. the contracts would run from july 1st of this year until june 2019. it would generate over $28 million over the span of the contract, according to officials. we're live in san francisco,

brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. a bill that would require anti-theft software on all cell phones could be back in front of california lawmakers this week. it came up one vote short when it was introduced a couple of weeks ago, but on thursday, mark leno will reintroduce legislation that would require cell phone companies to put a kill switch on smartphones to make them inoperable when stolen. in san francisco, more than half of all robberies now involve cell phone snatching and in oakland, that figure is as high as 75%. the state legislature is also considering a bill that would tax some drivers for every mile they drive. lawmakers say a volunteer vehicle miles tax would help make up the difference from a drop in revenue from the current gas tax. revenue has declined because people are driving cars that get better gas mileage and buying better gas. the program would be modeled on

similar taxes in washington and oregon. 7:10. happening today, the obama administration is releasing a massive new report on climate change, emphasizing how global warming is already complainging our daily -- changing our daily lives. 300 scientists contributed to the report. coming up at 7:45, pam cook will tell us what the report says about the effect of climate change on california. and ktvu's chief meteorologist bill martin is in washington, d.c. he will discuss face to face this new report with president obama. we'll have that interview tomorrow at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. it is 7:11. a new poison meatball scare in in -- in san francisco. new information about last year's search for a los angeles police officer who turned into a killer, how a communications

the veteran pilot was killed. nay police want to talk to the -- san jose police want to talk to the teenager who stowed away on a flight to hawaii. the 15-year-old boy is now back in the bay area under the care of santa clara county child protective services. police want to to know how he made it over the security fence undetect and climbed into the wheel well of a jet. the fbi said the teen was trying to get to africa to see his mother. 7:15. bay area investigators say a woman who operated an identity theft ring is on the run and she should be considered very dangerous. investigators say jasmine mitchell created credit cards and driver's licenses from stolen identity. undercover officers say they almost caught her last week but she escaped by trying to run her over them with her car. >> i think she was desperate to get away and would do anything at any cost to get away. >> now, jasmine mitchel is part

of a notorious bay area family linked to pornography and crime. she was only 13 when her father, artie mitchell, was killed by his brother jim. the mitchell brothers ran the o'farrell striptease theaters. efforts to catch a wanted fugitive were slowed by the police itself, according to a new report. christopher dorner killed four people, including three police officers in february of 2013. after a 12-day manhunt, dorner shot and killed himself during a standoff with police in the san bernardino mountains. according to a report by the research group, the police foundation, as the word spread about that standoff, hundreds of police officers converged on the area. the report says while their intentions were good, the crowd of police officers slowed down communication efforts, blocked roads and made the situation very chaotic. >> as part of that same report, the police foundation released

this dashcam video shot from the riverside police cruiser that dorner ambushed. there were two police officers riding in the car. it shows them slowing up to a stoplight on the morning of february 2nd. dorner was across the intersection on the left side. as he passed, he opened fire on those officers killing one of them instantly. that other police officer was criticallily wounded. want to check in with sal and see what's happening on the roads this tuesday morning. sal? >> all right, tori and dave good morning to you. let's take a look at some of the freeways. they are getting busy all over the place. we'll start with highway 4 coming up from lone tree to loveridge. that distance is taking five minutes. not very long. that should take one or two minutes when it's not crowded. but the entire drive from antioch to concord is still pretty slow. bay bridge is taking about 30 minutes plus at the toll plaza, you will see traffic that's

going to busy on the bridge as well. but most of the waiting comes at the toll plaza and again, a 30-minute plus drive time unless you are in the carpool lane. livermore valley, westbound 580 a lot of slow traffic especially in lirnl. it does get better by the time you reach dublin. 680 is slowing down to san jose. 280als you saw earlier -- as you saw earlier, getting better at 17. same think with 85. 101 is slow after 880. 7:18. let's go to steve. all right, sal. thank you very much. partly cloudy to mostly cloudies. val, mostly cloudy, no rain yet. crockett, same thing. clouds increasing. pacifica and daly city clear there. clear to the west. a lot of clouds to the east. there have been some sprinkles through and light snow up at the keys. thank you steve bridges for that. about .5 falling lightly. there will be a good breeze or gust. there will be some areas breezy

the search continues for the victims in that ferry accident in south korea. a civilian diver lost communication during a dive and was later found unconscious under water. more than 100 divers are searching the wreckage of the ship. 264 people who were on the ferry have been confirmed dead and 38 others are still missing. all right, tori, the time is 7:24. two dozen companies including walgreens and saks have agreed to stop selling the ingredient that makes the foam in shampoo. the oakland based center for environmental health says the chemical is also known to cause cancer. this new agreement is effective in california but consumers nationwide also will benefit. >> if they are gonna change

their product for california, they are gonna change their product line completely. so what gets sold in other states will be the same as what gets sold in california. >> now, the center for environmental health says it is still working with 100 other companies trying to get them to stop selling similar products. the chemical is also found in some bubble baths, dish washing liquid, shower gels and body scrubs. on our channel 2 website, ktvu.com, we have a full list of products that contain this product. you can find it under the web links section. . the price tag for the 4/20 celebration last month was a lot more than last year's event. thousands of people gathered in golden gate park to smoke marijuana on april 20th. the recreation and parks department said it spent $23,000 to pick up all of the trash. last year it spent $15,000.

police spent about $44,000 for extra officers and overtime this year and it costs muni $36,000 for additional fare inspectors and parking enforcement officers. the construction of a long- awaited sports field in petaluma is finally gonna get underway. last night the city council awarded a construction contract allowing work to begin on east washington park that's near petaluma's municipal airport. youth soccer and lacrosse games could begin as early as this fall. but baseball and softball players will have to remain on the sidelines until the city can work out the construction details of the second phase of the park project. the san francisco 49ers are offering people a chance to check out their new $1.2 billion stadium in santa clara without having to pay for expensive game day tickets. the 9ers will begin to offer year-round public tours when levi stadium opens in august. fans will be able to tour the entire stadium for $25.

to keep their pets safe. good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. let's check weather and traffic. did you tell steve to bring all of that sunshine. >> i tried to do that. well, there's some sun. clouds for others. facebook says dark clouds in oakley. martinez, dave says it rained earlier, i can tell but areas to the west are clear. pacifica, maybe not breezy yet but the wind will pick up. it's picking up and dying down. right now it seems to be dying down a little bit. there will be 25, 30-mile-an- hour gusts. the low responsible for it is producing light snow up in tahoe. 54 to start for oakland. a high for 66. there will be a breeze coming in behind that. it will not be an offshore breeze. a couple of low clouds continue to roll through. antioch, brentwood, highway 4, pittsburg, baypoint but they are right on the edge of it. kind of clipped a couple of sprinkles. most of it is staying out to

the valley. it looks down for stockton and modesto. 40s for many or low 50s. it's cool. combine a little breeze with that. it's definitely chilly for this time of year. you can see some of that light snow up in tahoe. about .5 at the keys from our observer steve bridges up there. it will be windy and cool. we have morning clouds to deal with unless you are on the coast. a few showers to the east. it looks like they are done. a lot of upper 60s. here's sal. >> good morning to you. right now we're looking at a commute that is still doing very well with no major issues but we do have slow traffic already if you are driving in, let's say, from the carquinez bridge or timing that bridge to the macarthur maze, 36 minutes. if you get on after the carquinez bridge in richmond, it's not quite that long. but you can gauge how long it's taking people who are driving the whole way. when you get to the bay bridge, 35-minute plus delay if you are at the very end of the line before you make it across the

bridge. most of that time is gonna be there sitting in that traffic. san jose is now becoming kind of a strong commute. one way to put it. 85, 280 and 101 are very slow. i think the slowest is 101. you can see traffic is going to be slow. not only here but also after 280 all the way into the mountain view area. 7:33. let's go back to the desk. a disturbing discovery in san francisco, meatballs that may have been poisoned have been found again by dog walkers, this time in the sunset district. alex savidge, live in san francisco now to tell us, alex, what people are doing to keep their pets safe. good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning to you. neighbors are trying to warn each other about this troubling discovery. according to one report, there have been some people in this area who have received handwritten notes in their mailboxes letting them know about these suspicious meatballs found yesterday morning. they were discovered in this area near 24th avenue and

ortega right outside of the sunset reservoir, very popular spot for people to walk their dogs. a woman out walking her dog yesterday morning told police that she found a plate full of meatballs. police say they appeared to have pills of some kind lodged inside them. those suspicious meatballs are being tested by police to see if they are laced with poison. suspicious meatballs have been found all across the city in recent months. just in february, a dog in the twin peaks area got sick and had to be taken to the vet after eating a meatball that someone left behind. here in the sunset neighborhood, dogs are on edge and trying to understand why someone would try to poison people's pets. >> it's been happening all over the city. she goes all over the place for walks. it just bothers me that anybody would do that. it doesn't make any sense at all. it's just horrible. dog owners have been

nervous since last summer because that's when hundreds of meatballs laced were discovered in a number of different neighborhoods. there was one dog that died after eating that meat. no arrests have been made so far. but san francisco police are working hard on this case trying to find the person involved here. there is a $5,000 reward on the table for any information. coming up for you this morning on "mornings on 2," we'll continue to talk with pet owners in the area about the precautions they are talking after this latest scare. we're live this morning in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> as alex just told you, this is the just the latest location where potentially tainted meatballs have been found. back in july, one dog died after eating a meatball near crestline in the twin peaks neighborhood. meatballs were also found in twin peaks again in february. that same month, similar meatballs were found in the outer richmond district at la

playa and fulton streets. happening today, dozens of protesters and their dogs plan to rally at oakland city hall to demand improved conditions at oakland's animal shelter. former oakland raider jared cooper also plans to be at the protest. a ktvu investigation first uncovered allegations that shelter animals are being treated inhumanely and are times put down without cause. the shelter has not had a director or a veterinarian for almost a year. it is 7:36. santa rosa police are investigating a crash they say was caused by a man who may have been tries to kill himself. around 7:00 last night, the chp received a call about a man repeatedly stabbing himself while driving on highway 12. police say at fulton road he ran a red light and hit two cars. he was taken to the hospital with major injuries. mostly from the stabbing. the people in the other cars

suffered minor injuries. this morning, san jose police are searching for a hit- and-run driver who severely injured a young mother as she rode a bicycle. ktvu's janine de la vega joins us live from san jose to tell us how the injured woman is doing and how the viewers can help. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. this happened at a very busy intersection here at curtner avenue here and unified where you see all of the cars lining up to get onto northbound highway 87. now, the family is hoping someone remembers seeing the accident or a vehicle speeding away. 26-year-old shantee jones is still suffering from her injuries and unable to work as a school bus driver for the san jose school district. on april 25th, at 5:00 p.m., she was on her bicycle leaving work and was hit by a car at curtner and unified. driver left the scene. she suffered a fractured skull, bruised brain and was hospitalized for five days. the movement on her left side

of her face is limited, her hearing is limited and some teeth have been knocked out. she knows she's limited. >> i want to know who did this to me. and i want -- this could happen to -- if this happened to anybody else. >> is there anybody that saw anything around that time that can shed some light on the mystery at least we can find out what kind of car it is, the year and the make? >> jones does not remember the accident. a police report was filed. there's little information on the suspect and the car. officers want anyone who witnessed the accident or saw anything to call them. she was not wearing a bicycle accident at the time of the accident and hope others learn from her experience. coming up at 8:30, you will hear the plea from the victim's

young daughter. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:38. police in san jose investigating the deaths of two men found inside a townhouse. police were called to the home near highway 85 and almaden expressway around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. a neighbor told ktvu, she heard two sets of gunshots sunday night. one about 6:00 p.m., another between 8:00 and 9:00. but she said at the time she thought someone set off fireworks. neighbors say this is normally a quiet area. >> it's bizarre. i've never ran across anything like this. this is really, really, really odd. this is a quiet neighborhood. very quiet. >> at this point, police won't say whether the deaths are considered a murder-suicide but they do say there are no suspects at charge and they think all of the people involved were inside that townhouse. an autopsy is scheduled today for the high school student who was shot and killed

by dublin police sunday night. officers responding to a domestic dispute call say they were forced to shoot 18-year- old oscar herrera after he hit an officer with a metal baseball bat. we are now learning the same teen was involved in a bizarre incident in livermore the night before the deadly police shooting. >> he got into a fight with his friend and it appeared he might have been under the influence of methamphetamine or something else. oscar herrera was threatening to eat his friend. >> livermore police say herrera was not placed on a psychiatric hold on saturday's incident because he had not threatened to harm himself. he was then released from police custody. 7:40. new this morning, for the second time in three years, a san francisco restaurant is being singled out as the most outstanding restaurant in the country. the slanted door, which is located in the ferry building in san francisco, won that top prize from the james beard

you are looking at the reasons some folks trying to drive between southern california and las vegas may have to rethink their plans. this bridge fire shut down a section of interstate 15 yesterday in hesperia. look at this backup. the freeway is southern california's main connector to las vegas. and now the section of the freeway could be shut down for days. apparently, a construction worker's blow torch accidentally ignited the

bridge's wooden support. the bridge has been under construction since early last year. it's damaging the economy. devastating neighborhoods and increasing fire danger. ktvu's pam cook is in the studio to talk about climate change and a new report released today. >> good morning. we got a look at details before obama administration releases a comprehensive report on climate change today. now, the report gives some alarming statistics and shows that chim change is also -- climate change is already affecting our everyday lives. 300 climate scientists contributed to the report. they say here in california, rising average temperatures will slash snow and water amounts even further in the sierra which will then have a devastating impact on water supply for homes and for farmers. california produces more than half of the country's produce, about 95% of certain crops such as apricots, almonds, artichokes and raisins. >> climate change is real.

just a lot of people. we've had a lot of people and a lot of people have asked me that question, why is it so slow on the toll plaza? we don't have an accident to blame. we like to know why. we're trying to find out why. so far, it's very slow, 35- minute drive time across the span in san francisco. if you are driving into san francisco on northbound 101 from the other side, doesn't look that bad. this is a san francisco look. a little bit of crowded conditions on northbound 101 at the 80 split. suddenly, the south bay which started off well is slow. northbound 85 just past highway 17 there is a crash there. there's some slow traffic all along the 280 route there. northbound all the way up to the sunnyvale area. look at 101, that is one solid line of traffic pretty much from yerba buena exit in southern san jose all the way into palo alto. you are with plenty of company there. 7:48. let's go to steve. >> thank you, sal.

breaking news in the reangs area. it's a massive fire at a commercial -- if the los angeles area. it's a massive fire at a commercial building on santa monica boulevard in hollywood. huge flames. we're told firefighters have pulled out of the building because the conditions are too dangerous. this fire is burning out of control in the electrical room and attic. no word yet on how it started. but again, a huge commercial fire burning right now in hollywood on santa monica boulevard. we'll continue to follow this breaking story and bring you more as we get it. another court hearing scheduled tomorrow in one of the biggest prostitution busts in bay area history. yesterday, 16 women and two men accused of running that massive operation appeared in an alameda county courtroom to face charges. prosecutors have tied them to more than a dozen east bay spas that are suspected of being fronts for prostitution. ktvu news talked to the lawyers

sonoma county supervisors will discuss calls for effren carrillo to resign. tara moriarty has been talking with people in santa rosa about this story since 4:30 this morning. tara, you are finding that opinions over his political future are pretty mixed. >> reporter: yeah, they kind of are. we know the board of supervisors will define the fate of effren carrillo. he was found not guilty of peeping tom charges. but there are still some supervisors who believe he's unfit for office. last summer, he admitted that he looked through a women's window wearing about now underwear and sox. he told the jury he wanted to have sex with the neighbor but was not peeping. we asked if they thought a call fog resser nation was an opportunity -- call for resignation was an opportunity

considered a person of interest in the disappear as of his daughter. oakland police and the fbi have spent the past ten months looking for that missing toddler. now, webb's suicide is leaving a gaping hole in this investigation. >> like time stopped. what? you're kidding! and my first question, did he leave a note to say anything about daphne? no, he did not. >> last summer webb reported his daughter had been kidnapped from outside of an east oakland market. he was briefly jailed on child endangerment after telling police he left daphne in the car with his 87-year-old mother who suffers from dementia. the toom line, the toddler was reported missing on july 10th of last year. the next day, police arrested her father on suspicion of felony child endangerment. no charges were filed and john webb was released. new this morning, a 77-year-

old man who was missing in newark has been found safe. police say jose avila was located near his home by people who had seen his photo. he was reported missing last night after he did not come home after his daily walk. a woman walked of being involved in brutal beating of two alameda county sheriff deputies is defending herself. kelly carter talked to ktvu shortly after being released on bail from santa rita jail yesterday morning. she said a neighbor called for help saturday night after her husband and brother got into an argument inside her castro valley home. but carter's version is different from the account of the alameda county sheriff's department. >> they pointed guns at me and i was like, sir, we're trying to calm my brother down. my husband is back there. he put his handcuffs on me. >> she was in handcuffs. however, while she was handcuffed and the officers' attentions were focused on the

other two suspects she was actively using her feet to kick the officers. >> now, the sheriff's office says carter's brother punched one deputy in the face forcing that officer to have reconstructive surgery. . the other deputy was reportedly put in a chokehold but was not seriously hurt. santa clara county prosecutors now blaming human error for a mixup in the county crime lab. they used the wrong chemical to use tests for methamphetamine. that mixup involved 2500 blood samples. rest testing turned up only sev p false positives. prosecutor -- seven false positives. prosecutors say this will only have a limited affect on the cases. it's a battle between money and aesthetics. the board of supervisors could be adding more wraparound bus ads in the next few months. brian flores is live to explain why many riders are not on

board with this idea. >> reporter: good morning. as you mentioned, this proposal would double the amount of advertisements on the muni buses. some say it's a good thing because it would generate millions for the city. others say having too many advertisements would be an eyesore and tarnish the city's beauty. as we go to video, i want to show you examples of what these advertisements look like. these are examples so you have a better understanding of what it looks like. in terms of the wraparound issues, this has been going on, the topic of discussion for many years now. this will be a topic of discussion tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in the city's budget and finance subcommittee meeting. it's been at the forefront because the city's decision to do away with sunday meter enforcement. basically, the way some see it, these advertisements would compensate for the lost revenue, while others think it would be too much. >> i think there's enough

bay area investigators say a woman operating an identity theft ring is on the run and should be considered very dangerous. investigators say jasmine mitchell created credit cards and driver's licenses from stolen identities. undercover officers say they almost caught up with her last week but they say she escaped by trying to run them over with her car. >> her family is linked to pornography and crime. she was just 13 when her father was killed by his brother. the mitchell brothers ran the o'farrell striptease theater. the wreckage of the plane that crashed sunday at travis air force base is now in the hands of federal investigators. besides the plane itself, they are examining debris left on the runway and the crash site

north bay had sunshine from the get-go here. the coast as well. parts of the east bay had mostly cloudy skies for a while. clouds are moving out of the picture. partly cloudy in oakland. we'll go 66 and sunny. the breeze has tailed for many. a lot of hit and miss out towards highway 4, a lieu light showers in martinez, clayton, pleasant hill, concord. that was a couple of hours ago. most of that has pushed well east and it's just accelerating out to the san joaquin valley from north to south. 50s on the temperatures. we had a lot of 40s. there will be a repeat pearlance. it will be chilly but the low will wrap itself up to las vegas will crank up the breeze later on. sunny and breezy. morning clouds, i'm almost out of the picture here. windy, coast and hills. but a breezy day for many. 60s to low 70s. here's sal. steve, all of the major cities, oakland, san francisco, san jose, trying to get to san francisco, i should say, big

commutes. let's go to the bay bridge. that's a 30-minute drive time across into san francisco. it's getting a little better. we haven't had any real problem. yesterday, we had an accident to blame. today, haven't had anything major. it's slightly better as a result of today the lake crowd downtown oakland. someone tipped me off a few weeks ago saying that a lot of people who come in on the lake commute are going to downtown oakland. some of the court system people who work starting at 9:00. that's why it gets crowded. could be a good theory. 580 is slow from lakeshore through the lakeshore curve. look at 101 san jose, it's backed up solid from the bottom of san jose all the way up into palo alto. there's really no break in it. if you can put this commute off, please do. back to the desk. >> sal, thank you. police searching for a hit- and-run driver who severely injured a young mother riding a

bike. janine de la vega joining us live from san jose. we understand someone who was at that accident scene just stopped to talk to you. >> reporter: yes, she did. this woman didn't see the accident but she stayed with the victim right after it happened here at the intersection of curtner and unified where you see all of those cars lined up. that's cars heading near the entrance of highway 87. this woman says a panhandler claims to have seen the car responsible and told her the make and model. we told her to call police with any kind of information like that's helpful for the san francisco. now, this is what 26-year-old shantee jones looked like before the accident. this is how she looks like now. jones suffered a fractured skull, swelling of the brain and was hospitalized for five days. the movement on the left side of her face is limited and she can barely smile. her hearing has been's affected and some of her teeth are

knocked out o on april 25th, a car slammed into her at kurt new and unified way as she was riding her bike home from work. she had just left her job, a job she cannot do. >> i was really excited with my new job. right now, i have to stay home. i can't work. i can't do anything by myself. >> my dad is worried, too, because he wants to figure out who did it. >> reporter: jones does not remember much from the accident. a police report was filed but there's little information on the suspect or the car. officers want anyone who witnessed the accident or have information to call them.

they can do it anonymously. the family says it will help them heal. jones was not wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the accident and she hopes that others will learn from her experience. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 8:35. san jose police are investigating the deaths of two men found inside a townhouse. officers were called to the home near highway 85 and almaden expressway about 3:30 yesterday afternoon. a neighbor told ktvu she heard two sets of gunshots sunday night. one between 6:00 p.m. another between 8:00 and 9:00. she thought someone set off fireworks. neighbors say it's usually a quiet area. >> it's bizarre. never ran across anything like this. this is really, really odd. this is a quiet neighborhood, very quiet. >> police won't say whether the

deaths are being considered a murder-suicide. there are no suspects at large and they think all involved were in the town home. we are gating more details about a crash in santa rosa that police say was caused by a man who may have been trying to kill himself. around 7:00, the chp got a call about a man driving a lengthus on highway 12 -- lexus on highway 12 repeatedly stabbing himself. police tried to pull him over. at one point, four patrol cars were involveled in the chase. he -- were involved in the chase. he hit two cars. they say the driveert of the lexus had major injuries, mainly from the stabbing wounds. he had to be revived by chp officers at the scene. he was taken to the hospital. the people in the other cars involved suffered minor injuries. a warning for pet owners in san francisco after another disturbing discovery. meatballs that may have been poisoned have been found again by dog walkers. alex savidge is live in the

sunset district and just spoke to the woman who found those meatballs. good morning. alex. >> reporter: good morning. i just talked to her a few moments ago, a woman who runs a dog walking business. it was yesterday morning when she was here walking along sunset avenue at 24th and ortega. that's when she found a plate that had several lumps of meat on it. she described it as looking like uncooked meatloaf but told me it seemed suspicious because the meat had pill s in it. police are testing it to see if it's laced with poison. neighbors are warning others about this troubling discovery. some people said they received handwritten notes in their mail boxes letting them know about this meat that was found. in recent months suspicious meatballs have been found across the city. there was a dog in the twin peaks neighborhood that to the sick and had to be taken to the

vet after eating a meatball that someone left behind. now in the sunset neighborhood dog owners are on edge trying to understand why someone is apparently trying to hurt some people's pets. >> animal cruelty. what else? >> i'm concerned about this in my made. my neighborhood. this is a very safe neighborhood. dog owners have been anxious since last summer when hundred of meatballs laced with poison were found across various neighborhoods in san francisco. one dog even died after eating some of that meat. this is a very popular area for some people to walk -- some people who walk their dogs. no one has been arrested so far in this case. police working to track down whoever is leaving behind this meat and there sill is a $5,000

now, supervisors are expected to debate the future of effren carrillo who admitted to peeking into a woman ewindow wearing only his underwear. tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: we reached out out to supervisors before the meeting to see if any one of them would be interested in talking to us about this issue. but they declined. they had to rush off to their meeting, which is in session. in less than two hours, they will decide whether or not effren carrillo is fit for office. last week, the supervisor was acquitted the peeping charges but despite that verdict, some state senators and supervisors are calling for his regular -- resignation. he told a juror that he wanted to have sex with the neighbor -- he told the jury that he wanted to have section with the neighbor but was not peeping at her. >> i think it was a mistake he made and he paid the price.

some of the findings being released today. >> good morning. today, the obama administration released what is being called the most comprehensive scientific assessment ever of climate change and its impacts across every region of the country. as part of the action plan to cut carbon pollution. scientists say this is very real. this is impacting our water supply, increasing fire danger and flooding. >> i do believe that we have changed the environment. >> we're not getting rain and it should be cooler this time of the year. >> there's been a lot in the news about it. there's a lot of misunderstanding about it. there's confusion about what is a weather event and what is a change in chim. >> he and other meteorologists are on a team at san francisco state and they are studying weather patterns what's happened before and what is global warming and what is a cyclical pattern. the new report confirms that
