now at noon, breaking news out of san jose where police are on the scene of a shooting. pet owners in san francisco being warned after more suspicious meat is discovered near a popular dog walking area. what police are doing right now. and embattled sonoma county supervisor who was just found not guilty on attempted peeping charges now being asked to resign. the decision he announced just a short time ago. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we have breaking news in san jose where there's been an aan

apparent drive -- an apparent drive-by shooting shutting down a busy intersection. we just got this video in. police responded to center road near tully road in south san jose just before 11:00 a.m. you can see there is a large number of police cruisers on the scene. we're told one person standing outside his vehicle was hit by gunfire and was taken to the hospital. police are now gathering evidence from two vehicles, apparently involved. officers are also at coyote creek mobile home park where witnesses saw a suspect's vehicle coming from the park. traffic is heavily impacted around center road. robert handa is there gathering more information and we'll update you online and on the news at 5:00. a warning to pet owners after more possibly tainted meat was discovered in san francisco. right now, police are testing the meat that was found near a

popular walking path in the sunset district. ktvu's alex savidge spoke to the dog owner who made the disturbing discovery. what did she tell you, alex? >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. the woman who called all of this into police works as a dog trainer in this neighborhood. she told me this morning, she found this plate with meat on it. it was resting right on top of these bushes. she made the discovery yesterday. this is near sunset reservoir, a popular place for people to come and walk their dogs. >> right across the street. >> reporter: getting the word out to neighbors. she says she came across this plate with lumps of raw meat on it, at 24th and ortega. the plate had candles and quarters on it and the meat looked to be laced with something. >> there were pills inside the meat. we don't know whether they are prescription or vitamins. we have no idea. we just called the police. >> reporter: crime scene technicians from the san francisco police department collected the meat and sent it to a lab for testing.

people out walking their dogs this morning heard about the latest scare and they are taking precautions. >> just keeping a real close eye on her. she's a chowhound and will go after everything. just watching her more carefully. >> i'm concerned about this going in my neighborhood. this is a very safe neighborhood. we walk here every day. >> reporter: police tell me they are looking at the possibility this discovery in the sunset is linked to other cases around the city where poisoned meatballs have been left behind. some dogs have gotten sick eating the meat. one even died last year. kelly who runs a dog training business says it's hard to understand why someone seems intent on hurting people's pets. >> there's some really sick people in the world. this is a wonderful block and great neighborhood. everyone looks out for each other. >> reporter: there's still a $5,000 reward on the table for any information that can help police make an arrest in this case. there are no reports of any

pets eating that suspicious meat found in this sunset neighborhood yesterday. that meat right now is still at a lab being tested to see if it does, in fact, contain poison. san francisco police couldn't tell me how long it might take for those results to come back. we're live this afternoon in san francisco, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, alex. more details about the other locations where tainted meatballs have been found. in july of last year, one dog died after eating a meatball near crestline and burnett avenue in the twin peaks neighborhood. meatballs were found in february, and that same month they were found in the outer richmond district at la playa. the santa clara teen who snuck onto a plane and flew all the way to hawaii hidden in a wheel well is expected to be interviewed by san jose police. janine de la vega joins us live to explain the next steps in store for the teen stowaway.

good afternoon, janine. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. police say the teen trespassed when he got onto the airport property and ducked into the wheel well of that plane. they say that violated a city ordinance and now police are in a holding pattern waiting to get clearance to talk to that boy. 15-year-old survived subfreezing temperatures when he stowed away on a hawaiian airlines jet two weeks ago and made it all the way to maui. he was reportedly unhappy living with his father and stepmother and was trying to reach his mother in africa. e he had been in protective custody in hawaii and he was known back to the bay area and is being cared for by santa clara county cps. police are working with that agency to interview the boy. >> we want to find out what the -- what his thought process was. what was he thinking. what was his intent? you know, at minimum we have a criminal trespass which is a misdemeanor in the state of

california. so did he do it deliberately? was he intending to do something differently? >> reporter: investigators need to make sure he knows his rights and would like to know he can have an attorney if he has one. cps officials cannot comment directly on the case but they say they will work with police and not impede and investigation. while a spokesman couldn't answer why he's not back with his father, he did say a child is taken into their custody if there has been an allegation of abuse or neglect. police say the interview with him will not happen today but would not give us a timetable for when that would happen. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, janine. santa clara county prosecutors are blaming human error for a mixup at the county's crime lab. a crime lab technician used the wrong chemical to do preliminary tests for methamphetamine. the mixup involved 2500 blood samples. retesting turned up only seven

false positives. prosecutors say the mistake will only have a limited effect on those drug cases. the man considered a person of interest in the disappearance of his 21-month- old daughter is dead. according to family members, john webb committed suicide at his oakland home last week. his daughter daphne was reported missing last july when webb said he she was taken from his car while he quickly ran into a market. his suicide leaves a geaping hole in this -- gaving hole in this situation -- gaping hole in this investigation. >> it's like time stopped. what? are you kidding? my first question, did he leave a note and say anything about daphne? no, he did not. >> webb was briefly jailed on suspicion of child endangerment after telling police he had left her in his car with his 87- year-old mother who suffereds from dimension -- suffers from

dementia. the toddler was reported missing on july 10th of last year. the next day police arrested her father on suspicion of felony child endangerment. no charges were ever niled and, again -- filed and, again, john webb was released. new details about maintenance on the eastern span of the bay bridge. at this moment, the toll bridge program oversight committee is speefing details about -- receiving details about the long-term maintenance plan which will require a lot more work than originally expected. one of the reasons is the paint's color. apparently the white paint may require extra maintenance in order to reef dues corrosion. an annual salary of $100,000 or face eviction. that's what one landlord in the lower haight made to several tenants according to hoodline.com. on this photo, tenants say they were told they would to have

prove a credit score of 7 25. landlord cannot rescreen or evict tenants who do not meet their income requirements. dozens of speakers have lined up to voice their concerns about embattled supervisor effren carrillo. he was found not guilty of peeping charges last week. now ken wayne joins us live with the decision that effren carrillo just announced and reaction. good afternoon, ken. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. they are still inthere, inside the board of supervisors chambers. effren carrillo heard from the supervisors, including the two women who are supervisors, all four urged him to step down from office. they say the revelations from the trial that he was caught outside of a woman's home in his underwear and that he testified he wanted to have sex with that woman make him unsuitable for office. here is his decision followed

by remarks from fellow supervisors. >> those who demand that i give the office to which voters of the fifth district elected me will be disappointed. i have no intentions to resign. [ applause ] >> you've had many opportunities to confront your alcohol abuse and i want to say very publicly your inappropriate behavior with women and -- as a woman, i find these actions reprehensible. >> people who victimize will often find a way to blame the victim and feel sorry for themselves in an attempt to avoid responsibility for their actions. it's a classic and deplorable defense mechanism. and sadly, i have heard you demonstrate some of this

condor resembles a vulture and it almost became instinct until captive proceeding efforts in the -- breeding efforts in the 1980s became successful. california condors get lead poisoning by eating animals left behind by hunters which is how they become contaminated. oakland zoo vets say opening this new treatment facility will be a great resource. >> this facility allows us to treat these birds for the lead poisoning and hopefully get them back out as soon as we can. >> reporter: the condor is -- this condor here that we're seeing is the oldest living wild raised in the central california flock. there are now mare 230 of them in the wild. just to give you an idea when in the late 1980s, they went

down to about 26, you can also go to the oakland zoo website and watch a live stream of the condor just hanging out in his facility here and again, the veterinarians say it's too bad that the birds become contaminated. it's a good thing that there there is a new resource to treat that contamination. live in oakland, sal castanedo, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, sal. it is damaging the economy, devastating neighborhoods and increasing fire danger. that's what a new comprehensive report released today says about climate change. the government report gives alarming statistics and shows what it calls climate disruption is changing our daily lives. 300 climate scientists contributed to the report. they say here in california, rising average temperatures will severely reduce snow and water amounts in the sierra. that will then have a devastating impact on water supply for homes and farms and

will increase the danger of wildfires. >> climate change is real. it's occurring. we're seeing the impacts now. but there is a lot to do to manage it. ktvu's chief meteorologist bill mart martin is in washington, d.c. to discuss the new report with president obama. we'll have that interview tomorrow at 5:00, 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. the hours of water play areas at redwood city parks will be cut in half this summer because of drought concerns. the reduced hours will affect the parks and they will open on june 1st and close earlier than prior years. the city is also working on installing water saving

nozzles. the east contra costa fire district is looking into a different method of raising more money to keep fire services operating. the district's board last night agreed to hire a research firm to look into learnvying an assess -- levying an assessment. it would go towards firefighters' salaries and into buying and maintaining equipment. no word on how much the assessment would be. it would have to be approved by voters. in 2012, voters ejected a proposal that led to the closure of three fire stations. breaking news regarding the golden state warriors. the team announced just minutes ago head coach mark jackson has been fired. he met with team owners this morning. jackson has the support of his players and back-to-back playoff berths under his belt but the warriors just lost in game seven to the clippers down in los angeles on saturday
