district, southern district, worse air quality tomorrow and thens and maybe thursday -- wednesday and maybe thursday, spare the air day. tomorrow at this time temperatures, when i show you the numbers, it will be 5 to 8 degrees warmer in the valleys. it will be hot. i will have the details, when the fog returns and how hot it will get after the break. an emergency meeting called today in the south bay to make sure local agents were ready to handle the heat. >> national weather service are you on the call? >> yes, we are. >> the offices of emergency services and public health discussed problems that could crop up during the hot week. for example making sure cooling centers were ready to go and schedule information is constantly updated on the 211 phone line. >> the hot days with the mild nights put some sensitive

with how administrators responded and she will pass out flyers tomorrow hoping they will be more open with punishment procedures. >> reporter: she says her daughter was sexually harassed multiple times by a boy. the first time she knows of was six weeks ago. >> he grabbed her private areas, grabbed them and then went behind her and made sexual motions like he was having intercourse with her. >> the boy was suspended for one day but put back in the same class. he touched her again four days ago. >> for her to have to deal with it is insane. i can't believe this. on top of that i can't believe the response i am getting from the school not to protect my child. >> part of the problem is the principal. >> the principal said why didn't she punch him in the

face. >> if we move him to a different class we put the other children in the class in danger. >> reporter: this is the second time parents are questions the school district's punishment procedures. we spoke to the superintendent about this case but he declined to give specific only saying the safety of students is our highest priority, number district has a duty to protect children and cannot provide information on any individual student. she is filing a complaint against the principal while trying to explain to her daughter why they want her to leave. >> she is being treated as a victim, like this is her fault and she needs to remove herself. i tell her we are doing our best to fight for her. >> reporter: the superintendent would not confirm any

information involving disciplinary action or the principal's response. the family educational rights act protects school districts from disclosing records but it doesn't prevent them from addressing a specific incident. we hope to get more answers from the superintendent in the coming days. cristina rendon, ktvu channel 2 news. tonight we are hearing from a woman who doctors say is lucky to be alive following a mugging in san francisco. ktvu channel 2 news showed you surveillance video of the attack last friday. >> all of a sudden i heard a ringing in my ears and felt a blow. i felt someone pulling on my bag. >> she was attacked by a man armed with a tire iron. she was walking to work on york street in the mission district when she was hit last month. the man in the video has not been caught. she says since the attack she

is more aware of her surroundings. police are looking for two men who tried to break into a home and confronted by the homeowner before noon at a home on east el camino. police say the homeowner chased one of the intruders and a gun went off during a physical alreadierication. but that no one -- altercation but that no one was hurt. they say it went off accidentally both of the suspects got away. witnesses say they were driving a red mercedes suv. police are looking for a drive by gunman who killed a man. the shooting happened about 9:30 saturday. officers responded to the scene after a shot spotter activation and calls from residents reporting gunfire. the victim was michael kelly. he was standing outside with friends and was shot by someone inside a dark colored suv.

authorities found a stash of marijuana aboard an abandon boat on the coast. ktvu's ann rubin is live with how the find may be the result of the drug war waged in southern california. >> reporter: authorities say they have been fighting the drug war so successfully smugglers are looking for places to come ashore further north. >> reporter: this is what investigators found at the beach today. 42 bails of marijuana, 1200 pounds. authorities believe smugglers used the fishing boat to bring it ashore. when they transferred the drugs to a suv they got stuck. they fled leaving their clothes and the drugs behind. >> the vehicle was too heavy and couldn't make it out of the sand. >> the department of homeland security have seen a large number of the operation along the california coast, usually in southern california. increasing patrols there have been pushing the boats north.

>> we believe this was a larger -- [ indiscernible ] >> so would have given it more sea legs. >> reporter: authorities say this is the northern most landing they have seen. the commotion came as a shock for those taking a stroll on the beach. >> like, okay, this is in our backyard. it is everywhere. >> from what i understand the drug trade is getting bigger and bigger every year. not that surprising. >> reporter: authorities say in the area from monterey county to san mateo there have been 8 similar incidents sincey. 2013. -- since march 2013, ann rubin, ktvu channel 2 news. a union city police officer is recovering after he was involved in a crash that shut down a major intersection of fremont for four hours this morning about 8:30 a.m. while the officer was responding to a burglary in

progress with his lights and sirens on. the officer and the driver of the sedan were taken to the hospital. however the driver of the van was not seriously injured. the cause is still under investigation. new at 6:00 p.m. the fight for public access to this beach took a turn today with a billionaire taking the stand in court. at issue is the road that leads to the beach, the only road, which is a popular spot. ktvu's rob roth was in court as the owner of the private road testified about shutting it down. rob? >> reporter: it was a highly anticipated day in superior court but the billionaire testified he couldn't remember much about the beach or the decisions that went into closing public access to it. >> reporter: he was questioned about decisions to deny public access to the beach near half

moon bay but he appeared to have little memory of it or a decision by a judge saying denying access would need approval by the california coastal commission. plaintiff attorney do you recall seeing the document, no, and it is unlikely if i had i would have read it. you are saying you wouldn't have read it? that is what i am saying. i am not trying to be unreasonable. outside court attorneys seeking access to the beach had a sharp reaction. >> i was dumb founded of the lack of ability to explain or remember. >> reporter: since he bought the area this is as close as you can get. we needed a helicopter to get pictures of it. surfers remember when they used to go to the beach before he closed off public access to it. >> impossible to get down

trial got underway today for too men of a shooting that -- two men of a shooting that killed a three-year-old boy. carlos nava was caught in the cross fire of rival gangs three years with ago. a witness testified he was being pulled in a wagon before the shooting. lawrence denard was the gunman and willie torrence was the driver in the shooting. the defense attorney for one of the suspects said authorities arrested the wrong man. >> lawrence denard did not do this. he was not on east 14th on that day and did not commit this terrible killing and it would be a further tragedy convict him. >> the trial resumes next monday. muni says it has seen a

decrease in crime. a report released today shows over all crime has dropped 30% on muni lines since october. and muni says robbys dropped 75% since july -- robberies dropped 75% since july of last year. >> i noticed more employees on the bus than before and i see a few more muni fair checks going on. >> the campaign is credited for the significant drop in crime. it launched last year along with a $1 million grant that allowed for more patrols on muni. upgrades to pg&e's pipeline in san bruno will not be meeted till next year. the company -- completed till next year. the company is pate waiting for

a ktvu channel 2 news crew did the drive today with a camera. sped it up a little bit. you can see the course the riders will take. officials say on a normal day they go through two bottles of water an hour. tomorrow they will likely drink double that amount, 16 bottles an hour during the four hour ride. to make sure they are okay a bike will go along with the competitors with a medic on board. our chief meteorologist bill martin is back with the conditions they will be facing tomorrow. >> heating up. it will be hot tomorrow and again on wednesday. thursday it cools off. i think the valleys on thursday will stay warm. these are the highs from today. 88 antioch. hot spot vallejo. 92 inland valleys. high pressure sets up. stays there today, tomorrow through thursday. here is where the jet stream

lies. upper air. way up there. and at the surface the winds do this. increase fire danger. and set us up with the spare the air days tomorrow and probably again on wednesday. maybe on thursday too. we will see. fog away from the coast as well. winds blows the fog out of there. tomorrow night at this time, tomorrow night, at this time, 90s. low and mid-90s tomorrow. san jose 83 degrees. the air quality in san jose, tomorrow, it will be dirty. poor air quality next couple days. that is why we have spare the air day tomorrow and wednesday. 93 degrees for high in san jose tomorrow. and it killed be warmer wednesday. -- and it could be warmer wednesday. warming trend through the next few days. started today but as we get into tuesday and wednesday the heat advisory kicks in, right, and temperatures get up into the hot range.

the week is starting off -- starting off well for the giants and the a's. >> the a's and giants in both place. san francisco 7-3 road trip. friday night in los angeles, bummer, brandon belt sustained a broken thumb so the giants doing stuff with their line up but they died to put michael morris, doing a great job in left field at first base for the mean time. belt will be out 4-6 weeks. morris has experience at first base and to hear him talk about it, no problem. >> i am used to playing anywhere, doesn't bother me. i will have fun with it. hold it down until our big guy gets back. >> nice to have a guy that gives you this much flexibility. he came up as an infielder. he has good hands. i think he will be fine there. >> the giants and a's in action
