>> reporter: a search is underway this morning in this oakland neighborhood for a 7- year-old girl who went missing from her home last night. the information police want you to know about and what investigators are saying about the circumstances of her disappearance. i'd say our lows are probably done cooling off.

definitely large and in charge. it's kicked in yesterday. today or tomorrow top out. i think today and tomorrow will be close. the heat advisory is today and tomorrow. sunny and hot. cool and mild. near 90 for many. afternoon temperatures. a few 70s right close to the water's edge. temperatures again will be way above average for two days. here's sal. right now, we're looking at a commute that is still pretty slow in many areas. it's not quite as bad as yesterday but we still have a big drive time and this is becoming the new normal when you come up to the bay bridge. 30-minute plus drive time into san francisco. if you are driving on 880 northbound right now past the coliseum, so far it looks good. not as bad as yesterday. yesterday we had a crash that caused some of the slow traffic. right now, it looks good. just a reminder, both the as and the giants have home games for the next few days here. this is a look at 101 in san

jose. northbound 101, northbound 280 and northbound 85 a little bit slow. i also want to mention the ramp from northbound 880 to southbound 101 is closed for emergency roadwork will be that way all day. the golden gate bridge approach, please attention to all signs approaching the bridge from the san francisco end and here's some drive times, pleasant hill 24 to the tunnel, 10 minutes. other times are high. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. we begin with developing news. oakland police are asking for your men -- in their search for a missing 7-year-old girl. she vanished from her home 13 hours ago. ktvu's alex savidge has been covering this story since 4:30 this morning. what have you learned from police? >> reporter: well, police are not offering much in the way of details or saying much about the circumstances of her disappearsance -- disappearance. we do know the search is ongoing. you can see behind me, several oakland police officers are here near the family's house.

this squad car has been parked near the hole throughout the night. police officer -- home throughout the night. police are trying to find the 7- year-old girl. she was last seen at her home on the 1400 block of 73rd avenue. she's about 4 feet tall, 50 pounds. wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes. police are not saying much about what happened just before her disappearance but they consider her to be at risk simply because of her young age. last night we're told officers did a full-scale search of this neighborhood. that urn ited up nothing. so they are hoping someone out there will see something and spot her. we'll let you know if there's updates throughout the morning. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right, alex. thank you. 7:05. happening now -- prepareerations are underway are underway for stage 3 of the

amgen tour. the cyclists will go 108 miles and end at the top of mt. diablo. janine de la vega is already there at the starting line with more on why the hot weather is a big concern for both the riders and also the spectators. >> reporter: the temperatures are gonna be tough. but there is a lot of activity going on right behind me. you can see they have the white tents set up. there is the archway and the gates have been set up. this is the course, actually, where riders are gonna go and they are gonna take off on the most difficult course of the entire tour. today's day 3 where the world's top cyclist who will ride the queen's stage, the most difficult climb, up mount hamilton and up to the summit of mt. diablo. the court director told me they don't have a category for us because these courses are

tough. the heat will play a factor. temperatures are expected to be in the 90s. we're told competitors are most likely to go through double the amount of water. there will be a first-of-its- kind bike that will ride along racers with a medic there who will be handing out water and snarks. >> we had the same issue last year in palm springs where it hit 114, which is totally unexpected. you will watch the riders finishing in mt. diablo and falling off their bikes. they put everything into it, especially today, which is the hardest, probably the most important day of the race. they are gonna put everything on the line. >> reporter: the race is a tour de france style course that spans eight days and 720 miles of highways, roads and coastlines. yesterday, there was a time trial in folsom. fans should be prepared for the heat and take shade and bring a lot of water with them. the race begins at 10:45 a.m.

and as far as something that will be free for the public today, that will be raging waters because they are helping sponsor the event. if you want to come to raging waters, it's free. from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., there will be a big screen up so that cycling fans can watch who win, the race and gets to wear the yellow jersey. janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> more details on today's stage 3 on our channel 2 website, ktvu.com. check it out. look under the hot topics section of the home page. 7:08. pg&e says it is delaying a number of upgrades to its system that were scheduled to be completed this year. the upgrades are part of the pipeline safety enhancement program the company launched in response to the 2010 san bruno explosion. a pg&e spokesman says they had hoped to finish the work this year. it will be carrying it over until 2015. the company says it needs more time to get construction and

environmental permits. we're learning that federal funding for a suicide barrier for the golden gate bridge could be threatened. according to the examiner, the suicide barrier is one of the bay area transportation projects at risk. if the federal highway trust fund runs out of money. if congress doesn't act, that could happen by august. the fund is funded primarily through federal gas taxes but the taxes have not kept pace with the country's transportation needs. other bay area transportation projects that could be affected are the highway 4 widening project in antioch and imprompts to the -- improvements to the b.a.r.t. system. the chp has increased patrols to the last san francisco exit before the golden gate bridge after a long day of confusion and a few crashes during the first work day of the new exit yesterday. we spotted motorcycles, backing up to traffic right before the

brick, a taxicab backing up. the van there. this will be in effect for the next month. it's about 1,000 feet south of the old exit. muni plans to break ground on a new traffic signal at a very dangerous san francisco intersection. in just a few days, instead of a couple of years. the decision to fast track the project comes less than a week after a young woman was hit while walking across sunset boulevard at yoba street in the outer sunsetted neighborhood. she's the third person -- outer sunset neighborhood. she's the third person hit this year alone. yesterday, muni announced plans to have the new signal installed in july, nearly two years ahead of the original installation date. today a former army sergeant will become the 7th living soldier to get the nation's highest military honor for service in iraq or afghanistan. president obama will award the

medal of honor to 27-year-old kyle white in a white house ceremony. he was knocked up conscious by a rocket-protelled grenade -- propelled grenade in 2007. the pentagon says he put himself in the line of enemy fire to save his fellow soldiers. several soldiers tied in the attack including corporal shawn long from walnut creek. authorities in the south bay are warning to protect your pets from coyotes. there's sightings on nicholson, tate west of downtown. there are two reports of small attacks attacked. police say keep your small pets and cats inside. if you have pet food, bring it indoors. information about the new zodiac killer hits the bookstores. it's entitled the most dangerous animal of all.

gallons of waste water. the water is triple filtered. it's an almost endless supply. as long as people keep flushing their toilets. we'll have a supply. it's a very drought resistant supply. >> the city plans to send 12 trucks a day during the summer to irrigate a golf course and city parks. anyone who uses the water will need to gill out a permit form -- fill out a permit form and take a training session to make sure the water is marked not for consumption. jesse jackson helds for silicon valley and e bey and google. he's -- ebay and google. he's pushing for hiring more minorities. earlier this year, jackson launched what he calls the new digital inclusion initiative. it started in march with reverend jackson and the rainbow push coalition

attending hewlett-packard's shareholder meeting. this will go to ebay's shareholder meeting this morning. tomorrow afternoon they will go to google's. former "american idol" clay aiken is suspending his political activitying in his run for a seat. this after a man who was looked in the case against him suddenly died. reports say that keith crisco died after falling in his home in north carolina. he was 71. clay aikens offered his condolences with almost all of the ballots counted, crisco was trailing by 369 votes. the democratic party said a recount had been anticipated. it is 7:17. famed radio countdown host casey kasem has disappeared. his children say they have no idea where he is. yesterday, a judge in los angeles named his daughter,

carrie, as his temporary caretaker and ordered authorities to find him. his children say his wife, jean, illegally removed him from an l.a. facility where he was getting treatment for parkinson's disease. his family said they visited him last tuesday but he's not been seen or heard from since. >> a few hours later, he was ripped out of that facility and taken across stateline somewhere. we don't know or out of the country. >> his children accuse jean of elder abuse by isolating her husband from his family. >> wish him well. >> uh-huh. tori, as we go to sal for traffic, our color, the teal color, we're wearing it today because of the american lung association and the research for lung cancer. if you see these colors, that's the reason why. >> and it looks good, too. >> thank you, sal. >> nice job. >> hopefully the traffic looks good. >> i think your teal looks

[laughter] highway 4, slow traffic as you come up to the concord area from the willow pass grade. we have a picture of the drive time here that i will show you. it's six minutes. remember, six minutes to drive maybe a mile and a half. not that great. but the traffic is better by 242. also looking at the commute at the bay bridge toll plaza, we had a minor crash on the upper deck. caltrans does a good job getting up there and getting it out of the way. traffic is backed up for a 25, 30-minute drive time. it's still not as bad as it was yesterday. i think yesterday's commute might have scared some people off and people might be using public transit today. some anyway. westbound 580 livermore valley, some slow traffic here. it is slow from livermore all the way into dublin. then it gets better there. still slow on 680. let's go to steve. thank you, sir. it's clear already. it's starting to warm up pretty

7:24. an explosion caught on camera at a home in new hampshire. there you see it where a police officer was shot to death. a tv newschopper was overhead yesterday reporting on a deadly shootout involving local police. an officer was killed after responding to a domestic violence call. the suspected gunman was also killed and the fire started after the gun battle. the explosion took place shortly after that. for the first time in 19 years, sonoma county prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in a murder trial. prosecutors say plark kapell -- mark kapella shot and killed three people near foristville in february. they say the victims intended to buy marijuana but were killed instead. san francisco apolice department gave -- san francisco's police department gave us a look at the underwater system. it's called a co da octopus.

it's installed on a police patrol boat. it features a camera to see what's under the deep and murky waters. it has a range of 200 feet but it also got mixed reviews last month when it was used for the search for a light plane that crashed into the bay after a mid-air collision. >> this might not have been effective or might have been, you know, just the fact that we need more training to enhance the picture. >> now, police say the octopus could help drivers know what's under the water before they take the plunge. that's helpful because the marine unit monitors 64 square miles of water. that's larger than the entire city of san francisco which is 49 square miles. homeland security agents are looking for drug smugglers who apparently had to abandon a big load of marijuana on a bay area beach. a boat loaded with more than

1,000 pounds of marijuana was discovered on pescadero beach. a nearby suv apparently got stuck in the sand. it was not able to take the pot inland. these types of boats are usually found in southern california but agents say increased enforcement there is pushing the smugglers north. investigators say the drugs likely came from mexico. imagine being able to he edit the results if someone googles your name. that's what a court this morning in europe has ruled must happen. we'll tell you why google is not pleased. >> reporter: we're live in san francisco where firefighters and police say that the new 911 system is a nightmare. but dispatchers tell a different story. hear what they had to say -- next. we're looking at a commute that's heavy. not as bad as yesterday but still busy in many areas. we'll get to the bottom of the slowdowns and tell you more about the morning drive. clear skies, sunshine.

in your neighborhood and in minutes, ktvu's pam cook will tell us what health officials are doing to offer relief to people who could otherwise be overwhelmed by the heat. pretty serious. good morning. welcome, once again, to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> i'm dave clark. let's check weather and traffic. steve's right over there. >> i am, indeed. we have clear skies. temperatures 50s and 60s. had a couple of 40s. but a lot more yesterday. overnight lows are running warmer. afternoon highs will run warmer. if we had any kind of a northeast breeze, i would say a lot of these records -- we would be shattering records. it will still be hot but not record-setting hot for many. san rafael, 92. the record is 100. livermore, 96, the record is 99. sfo would tie going back to 1976, all of these going back to 1976. san jose, 93. the record 1976, 99. heat advisory today and tomorrow. again, not so much for the

inland areas that can deal with it better in san francisco. temperatures on the 60s. already 62 in the city. sfo is in there. 68 antioch. some areas are moving out fast. moving out fast. today and tomorrow will be the hottest days. we'll start to see a pretty big cooldown. temperatures will drop, 20, 25 degrees. everything says sunshine and warm to hot temperatures. again, that heat advisory, fire danger increases. thankfully, again there's not much of a breeze. 90s for many. 80s to near 90s. a few mid-90s as well. here's sal. steve, we're still seeing another bad day at the toll plaza of the bay bridge. we had a minor accident on the span. but you will see -- this is a really pretty picture, it's also showing you that the traffic on the span is actually not that bad anymore. it was slow for a bit. but the traffic at the toll plaza is another story, the

metering lights are on slow. it's not as bad as it was yesterday if that makes you feel any better at all. but there's still a 25, 30- minute delay. 580 and 880 are slow approaching the macarthur maze. looking at the drive times here, if you are driving from livermore westbound 580 or even before that, from the altamont pass, you have a long commute on the way especially in livermore. 44 minutes on 580 westbound from grant line road to the 680 interchange. southbound 880 here, as you can see, traffic is going to be slow. 30 minutes from 238 down to thornton avenue and that's a little bit more than it should be at this time. it's mostly in the 20s. right now, it's 30 minutes here. back to the desk. all right, sal. some emergency dispatchers in san francisco say their new 911 computer system has problems that could have a bad effect on public safety. ktvu's tara moriarty joining us live at the dispatch center. you are in hayes valley getting

reaction from the police chief and also the chank and file. g -- rank and file. >> reporter: that's right. the police chief says his department is the largest customer for dispatch. 85%. and they are seeferping a lot of -- receiving a lot of complaints. sources within the fire department say the situation is an absolute mess. they say the sirens and alarms are not going off into firehouses. firefighters are having to carry around radios with them at all times. the computers also inside of the fire trucks are giving out the incorrect information for calls. now, last week, the department of emergency management or d.e.m. launched the new $3.7 dispatching system but according to the examiner, since wednesday, that system has been short circuiting. police officers are having troo write details down on -- to write details down on paper, wasting crucial minutes.

so far the problems have not impacted emergency services. >> i'm not a techy. as far as the kinks are concerned, that's not my field. i just know i know what to do when i need to use it. i know how to use the system. we're dispatchers. we know how to move through things and make it work so we can be proficient and help the public. >> reporter: police chief greg suhr sent us this statement via text, d.e.m. assures me that fg is under control and -- everything is under control and everything is being fixed as they present themselves. as of this morning, the complaints from the field are still coming in. city officials don't know when the the kinks will be ironed out. we'll stay on the store. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. police in richmond searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured two people. it happened last night around

9:00 p.m. on conand 23rd. witnesses say they saw a man in a white ford pickup truck talking on his cell phone before crashing into a car. they say he stopped, looked and got out of his truck and ran away. police say two people in that car were badly hurt. in you have any information about this, call richmond police. 7:35. the trial is underway for two men accused of killing a 3-year- old boy in a gang shootout in oakland. prosecutors say carlos nava was caught in a crossfire of a gang feud three years ago. willie torrence is accused of driving the getaway car and lawrence denard is the accused gunman. yesterday, the jury was shown some of the surveillance video taken moments after the shooting on international boulevard in august of 2011. the trial will not resume until next monday to accommodate the schedules of the attorneys and the court. 7:36. new this morning, the highest court in the european union has issued a ruling about google.

the court says google must apo lou users of the search -- allow users of the search engine the light to delete links about themselves. that would include links to legal records. momentum is building across europe for what is being called the right to be forgotten. the maker of the siraccha hot sauce says they have no intention of everyone mooing their factory out of southern california. that factory is located east of los angeles in irwindale. some people there have been complaining about the badle smell coming -- bad smell coming from the complaint. city leaders declare that a nuisance. others are urging the owner to move his business. lawmakers from texas and officials from texas toured the plant yesterday. hot weather is always dangerous. it's more serious now because of the doubt. pam cook is in the studio to talk about some of the concerns and some steps being taken to

keep people safe. >> good morning. you can't say you didn't know. we've been talking about it all morning long. it's going to be hot today even record-breaking temperatures in some spots, including san francisco. another hot spot that will be crowded today, mt. diablo. that's because of the amgen tour of california. if you are heading out to watch as the cyclists climb the hill, take water and a hat with you. at the base of mt. diablo, it will be about 90 degrees today as you get up towards the top, a little cooler. but still, about 70 or so. firefighters are on high alert. the drought conditions have intensified the fire dangers. the official start to the fire season was declared last week. in walnut creek, you can see fire crews out there. they are busy trimming back some of the dry brush out there. they say it's important for homeowners to clear a defensible space around the home. clear the brush and trim the trees. today is the second spare the

air alert of the summer season. the bay area air quality district says low winds and high temperatures will create unhealthy fog conditions. commuters are being asked to carpool or take public transportation if you can, and especially if you have breathing conditions or issues, any outdoor activities should be done earlier in the morning. to help people beat the heat, cooling centers have been set up, such as this one in fremont, they are all around the bay area. health officials warn that the rise in temperatures can be especially dangerous for the elderly, disabled and very small children. at ktvu.com, we've posted information about the cooting centers and -- cooling centers. look for the web links section ondz our home page -- on our home page. but keep an eye on your neighbors particularly if you are in an area without air conditioning. back to you. >> thank you. you can get weather

information any time with the weather app. it's available for download to your apple or android device. 7:39. you wouldn't think a charred area of the yosemite forest that was burned last summer in the rim fire would be much of a tourist attraction but there are mushroom hunters who can't wait to get in there. this creates the perfect condition for a rare and expensive type of mushrooms. but the u.s. forest service says that area is too dangerous to let people go in. frustrated mushroom hunters say a multi-million dollar bound of mushrooms is going to decay. there is a new fallout for a controversial contract created for catholic teachers in oakland. kathleen bursle says she would rather lose her job than sign a contract that includes a morality clause promising she will abide by church teachings at both school and home.

find her daughter. she's telling me she believes someone took this little girl. she last saw the 7-year-old girl playing here in the family's backyard. this was last night. she tells me when she came outside to look for her daughter, she noticed this hole in the back fence. she tells me that hole was not there before. that's part of the reason she believes her daughter was taken by somebody. this is the little girl police are searching for. 7-year-old kyianna orear. last seen just about 6:00 last night at her here on the -- at her house on the 1400 block of 73rd avenue. she's about 4 feet tall, 50 pounds. the last time she was seen by her mother, she was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes. her mother said she's confident that she did not leave on her own. >> she never, ever leaves this yard. never leaves this yard. i know somebody took her. if somebody did take her, please release her. i believe somebody got her

cyclists will pedal 108 miles and they will end up at the top of mt. diablo. janine de la vega is live at the starting line now with more on why the heat is a big concern for the riders and the spectators and janine, is it warm out there now? >> reporter: it is warming up. i'm kind of squinting here as the sun shines on my face. we've already starting seeing cycling fans arrive. we're here in the parking lot of the raging waters water slide park and this is a start line. cyclists will come down here through the course, then they are gonna come onto white road and then go into the east foothills to take on one of the most grueling stages of the whole tour. it is day through, where the world's top cyclist will ride the queen stage. they have two steep ascents up mount hamilton and then up mt. diablo. the climbs are usually rated by

highway trust fund runs out of money. now, if congress doesn't act, that may happen by august. the highway trust fund is funded primarily through federal gas taxes but the taxes have not kept pace with the nation's transportation needs. other transportation projects that may be affected, the highway 4 widening project in antioch and also improvements to the b.a.r.t. system. the chp is increasing patrols near the temporary last san francisco exit before you get on the golden gate bridge. that's after a long day of a lot of confusion and a couple of crashes, northbound highway 101 during the first work day of that new exist yesterday. our ktvu news crew spotted motorcycles backing up in traffic before the bridge and then a taxicab crossed several lanes of traffic. this exit will be in place for the next month to make room for the construction project for

water for free or nearly free. on monday, yesterday, the dublin san ramon services district installed posts of a giant -- for a giant task at their recycled water plant in pleasonton. businesses can bill up tanks of recycled water for $10 a truckload. during business hours, bay area residents can fill buckets or barrels for free. the water district says it can recycle up to 11 million gallons of the wastewater a day. the water is not for drinking but it's triple filtered so it's safe for irrigation or construction. >> as long as people keep flushing their toilet, we'll have a supply. it's a very drought-resistant supply. >> anyone who uses the water will need to fill out a permit form and take a training session to be sure the water is

we're moving out quick. excessive heat advisory for those on the coast, bay and in san francisco. there's already a couple of low 70s in san francisco. so today and tomorrow will be the hottest days. i think today and tomorrow will be the same push. the lows will be warmer. sunny and hot, cool morning, dpiven way to a very mild to warm -- given way to a very mild pattern. here's sal. we have a lot of slow traffic coming into san francisco from the east bay. the last few weeks it's been bad. 880 is getting slow past the coliseum. this is a bad commute. southbound 880 is also gonna be slow beginning at 238 heading the to fremont. as we take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, this commute is backed up for a 25 to 30- minute delay. it's better than it was yesterday if that makes you feel better. there's a little bit of slow traffic but not nearly as bad as it was yesterday. it's really taking the really

terrible commute, the santa clara valley. 85, 280, 101 all of those freeways are jammed into the valley. it's 8:32. let's go back to the desk. breaking news. a story since 4:30. a 7-year-old girl from oakland, kyianna orear, who has been missing since last night has been found safe. ktvu's alex savidge says the little girl was found by the pastor of a local church. now, police say kyianna orear was last seen at her home at 73rd and international about 6:00 last night. but once again, the breaking news, she was missing. kyianna orear has just been found safe. stay tuned to ktvu. we'll have all of the updates for you as soon as we can get them. 8:33. san francisco police and firefighters tell ktvu, their new 911 computer system has glitches that could, believe it or not, have a bad impact on public safety. tara moriarty is at the

dispatch center. you are in hayes valley for some of the dispatchers are painting a different picture. >> reporter: police and firefighters say the situation is a mess. one firefighter told me that the alarms and the lights are not going off inside of the firehouses when a 911 call 911 call comes in. the firefighters say they were told this glitch would only last ten hours last week. but it's still happening. they say this could definitely impact response times. last week, the department of emergency management or d.e.m. basically, they decided to launch their $3.7 million dispatching system. but according to the examiner, since wednesday, that system has been short circuiting. police officers and firefighters have reported accessing important information in false from the field. they say there's some glitches that need to be worked out but so far the problems have not

impacted emergency services. >> i think that sometimes people can get a little paranoid about a new situation. it won't stop any of the citizens from getting help at all. it's not that serious. police chief greg suhr sent us this statement via text "we're receiving many complaints from officers in the field. dem assures me that everything is under control and all concerns are minor and being addressed and fixed as they present themselves." as of this morning, the complaints from the field are still coming in. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. police in richmond, still searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured two people. it happened last night around 9:00 p.m. on lincoln and 23rd street. witnesses saw a man in a white pickup truck talking on his cell phone before he crashed into a car. they say he stopped. he looked got out of his truck

and ran away. police say the two people in the car were badly hurt. if you have any information, call richmond police. 8:35. the hot weather today is creating some dangerous conditions. pam cook is in the studio with the concerns and the actions to keep people safe. >> good morning. i just checked the national weather service website there is a heat advisory for much of the bay area starting at 1:00 today until tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. now that means the weather is particularly dangerous for older people and those susceptible to heat. it means -- heat strokes. it means they are high alert. the drought means a lot of dry brush and increased fire danger. the official start to the season was declared last week. firefighters have been out trimming a lot of the dry brush. they want you to do the same. they say it's important for homeowners to clear defensible space. today is the second spare-the-

with the ktvu weather app. it's available for your apple or android device. the legal battle over access to a san mateo county beach continues today. one day after the billionaire landowner at the center of the dispute repeatedly testified he didn't remember any details of the decision to cut off public access to the beach. the co-founder of sun microsystems took the witness stand yesterday afternoon. now, he said he had no recollection of discussing public access to martins beach with his property manager. that surprised the lawyer fighting to keep the beach open to the public. >> it appears to me that everything he did out there is within the attorney-client privilege. he cannot remember a thing. >> the owner also said he doesn't remember losing a 2009 lawsuit that required him to get a permit to lock the gate ta provided the only -- that provided the only beach access.

8:42. the for the second time in a work the fremont unified school district is dealing with student disciplinary issues. this time it has to do with sexual harassment accusations involving 8-year-old classmates. brian flores is live at hirsch elementary school with what one parent at the school is doing this morning to get her message to other parents. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning. parent kimberly wise was just out here moments ago handing out fliers at hirsch elementary school. two other parents notifying them about the situation in which her daughter was infroep outly touch -- inappropriately touched by a boy in her class twice over a period of a few weeks. she's upset about how the district is handling this. she tells ktvu that the 8-year- old boy grabbed her daughter's private areas and made sexual

motions towards her. the principal offered two options, she said, having the boy move to another class or have her daughter move to another school. she said although the boy was suspended for a day, he was put right back in her daughter's classroom until recently when the boy was moved to another classroom. she said she's tried to reach out to the parents of the boy directly but they've not responded. >> this doesn't happen with 8- year-olds. 8-year-old children don't do this on a regular basis just by nature. so maybe getting to the stem of what's happening that's causing this behavior, i would greatly appreciate it. i don't even know if they think of that. somewhere in this he's a victim. >> we're talking about very young children here. and so i am not gonna comment on the allegations themselves because we're talking about very, very young give, 8-year- old children. >> and fremont up fid not say

janine as tori and i get ready to jump out there and pedal as well, what does it feel like out there? >> reporter: it's getting warm. i'm glad i'm wearing short sleeves right now. temperatures are supposed to reach the 90s. it's supposed to be a grueling day just five miles into this race, that's when the climb starts and we're right here at the starting line. this area has been getting a lot of attention with lots of cycling fans taking their pictures here under the archway. today is day three, where the world's top cyclists with ride the queen stage, the most difficult time. they have two steep ascents up mount hamilton and up to mt. diablo. the climbs are ranged from 1 to 4. but these are so tough, they don't have a category for them. they will be riding 108 miles today and the heat will pray a factor -- play a factor. the high temperatures are expected to take a toll on the

riders. we're told they will go through double the amount of water. there will be a medic handing out water and snacks. >> all of the training that they do the whole year and -- i mean, it's incredible to see them climb so fast compared to us mortals. >> reporter: the race is a tour de france style course. it stretches through 720 miles of california's scenic highways, roads and coastlines. yesterday there was a time trial with bradley wiggins crushing the competition. we're not sure who will wear the yellow jersey at the end of the day. but fans who cheer the riders on should be prepared for the heat and stay in the shade and bring a lot of water. the race begins at 10:45 a.m. and here' a nice park -- here is a nice perk. we're in the parking lot of
