temperatures 30 degrees by the time we get to friday and saturday. the heat peeks out today. temperatures will be very, very warm. only on the immediate coast will we have temperatures that come down a little bit. it will be hot today. record highs. near 100 for a few. if we had a strong offshore breeze, we would be shattering records. here's sal. >> let's start at the bay bridge toll plaza. it's been a 30-minute drive time. it's still saying pretty much the same, 30-minute drive time getting into san francisco. so just make sure that you know the traffic is going to be pretty busy as you drive into the city with no major issues except the slow traffic. for example, we haven't had any

major accidents or stalled vehicles in the area. let's look at the commute on interstate 880. this traffic here is not all that bad. as a matter of fact, traffic northbound 880 moving along very nicely as you drive through the area. there are no major problems as you drive up to downtown oakland. five-minute drive time from the downtown oakland exit up to the -- or down to the airport. northbound 87 near the ail ma dond -- almaden expressway, there was a crash there. there was also a crash at tully. kirker pass road closed between pittsburg and concord. they are repairing a power line damaged in a fire last night. we have a lot of e-mails. so highway 4 is extra slow. people heard about this and coming over to concord on highway 4 is going to take you a while. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. new this morning -- neighbors are describing a

chaotic scene after a terrifying high speed crash in richmond. one woman died in an accident on the richmond parkway that triggered a power outage in the area. alex savidge has been at the crash seen since 4:30. he -- seen since 4:30 he -- scene since 4:30 he has new information. >> reporter: good morning. one neighbor is certain it was a street race that led up to the crash. he's calling on police to step up patrols along richmond parkway where he says the dangerous races are far too common. last night, it was a young woman driving in a car killed when she slammed into a power pole. this crash knocked out power to hundreds of people in the area. it was at about 9:30 last night on girard boulevard, also known as richmond parkway, south of barrett avenue. the woman who was behind the wheel of a ford mustang died here at the scene. richmond police have not said if they believe any other cars were involved here.

but a witness who didn't want to be identified said he saw several other cars stopped in the middle of the road following the impact. there was one man who was simply frantic. >> guy was screaming help! help! baby, i'm sorry. i'm sorry. i didn't mean to. we ran to the car to try to help. couldn't do nothing. it was so crumpled up. but you could hear the girl screaming saying help me! help me! >> reporter: neighbors say they wanted to help the young victim inside the young car but they couldn't pry the door open. on top of that, the car appeared to be on fire. so the people backed away at that point. while witnesses said they saw several cars drive off before officers arrived here, police have not said if they believe racing was involved. i reached out to investigators and we're still waiting to hear back. the accident led to the widespread power outage. more than 700 homes were in the

dark for most of the night. power has since been restored by pg&e. live in richmond, alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. 7:06. with this week's heat wave, firefighters are on high alert. crews in richmond were called to a small grass fire early this morning. it began shortly after 2:30 a.m. along 80 near cutting boulevard. several engines responded. firefighters say it began at a homeless camp in a field less than an acre burned. right now, it's not clear if anyone was hurt. firefighters are urmging everyone to -- urging everyone to use caution, especially during the heat wave with dry brush providing fuel for flames. the homeless man accused of starting the fire that destroyed a former san jose studio is due back in court this morning. he faces felony arson and burglary charges for last month's fire at the former knt building on park road. prosecutors say witnesses started him spot the fire by

pouring liquid on a mattress. dozens of homeless people who were living in the abandoned building managed to escape. 7:07. as you heard sal say, kirker pass road in contra costa county has been shut down again following a crash and fire. traffic was really backed up for miles yesterday after a car knocked down a power pole on kirker pass road near the concord/pittsburg border. this happened about 5:30 yesterday afternoon. the crews shut down the road overnight to fix the pole and also to pick up the downed power lines. they had to do more repark work a short time ago which forced the road to be closed. stay tuned. sal will tell you what's happening on kirker pass road right now coming up. city leaders in palo alto say it was all just a misunderstanding. a set of mysterious cameras were installed and for a while nobody knew what they were

really used for. brian flores is in palo alto now and, brian, you have an explanation. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. yeah, even city leaders coming out saying they did not properly inform residents about why the cameras were popping up. as you take a look, this is one of them, off stanford evening. this morning, the mystery has been solved. the cameras are being used to gather bicycle and pedestrian rider. city leaders say the cameras are more accurate than some of the rubber tube cameras on the street. this is part of the bicycle boulevard program which will improve street conditions. it's a $25 million project. the problem here was the cameras were installed without any previous washing or explanation -- warning or explanation to residents. that didn't sit well with a homeowner who said a camera was installed in front of the home. he complained to the city. and the city during a public

hearing recognized that it needed to do a better job. >> i do think it's unfortunate, though, that we did not get this news out in advance and i think we had a few surprising situations with folks, sort of surprised by these cameras being put up. we'll probably do more extensive outreach. >> reporter: the city also tells the mercury news that at least 25 cameras are installed throughout the city but they say they don't know exactly where they r the reason, it hired -- the reason, it hired third-party consultants to pick the locations and install the cameras and the city leaders say they don't know where they are until they are installed. back out here live, the raw video is never kept and they will only get the count until the cameras are done being used. mum, we'll tell you when -- coming up, we'll tell you when that is and why one homeowner

7:15. expect more flight disruptions today at chicago's two major airports. smoke from an electrical problem was detected yesterday at an illinois air traffic control facility. that forced a shutdown of all flights in and out of o'hare and midway for three hours, canceling over 1100 flights. this morning, about 100 flights to and from o'hare were scrapped. two dozen more were delayed. this is according to flightaware.com. a minor amount were canceled for midway. the district will buy 25

new buses that will include electrical outlets to recharge laptops and cell phones. the new buses will be able to carry four bicycles, twice as many as buses can carry now. the buses still need to be built and won't arrive until early next year. 7:15. happening now -- really dry conditions and santa ana winds fueling two wildfires in southern california. now, an evacuation order continues for 100 homes and businesses near the city of lompoc in santa barbara county. that wind-driven fire has grown to 700 acres. strike chain chain and helicopters were called. much of southern california is under red flag warnings and heat advisories. now, a little further south in the san diego area, evacuation orders have been lifted now for more than 20,000 homes. now, that fire has burned more

than 800 acres. it's only 5% contained. the flames came within yards of homes about 20 miles north of san diego. everyone was allowed to go back to their homes by 9:00 last night. it is 7:16. and happening today -- president obama is traveling to new york where he will try to pressure congress to back his plan to keep the country's roads and bridges from falling apart. the president will make his remarks at a bridge outside new york city that needs to be replaced. the highway trust fund which provides federal funding for transportation projects could run out of money by august. it is funded primarily through federal gasoline taxes. but the taxes is not kept pace with the country's transportation needs. the president is proposing to add money to the fund using revenue from corporate tax reform. the pentagon has given approval to transfer the soldier once known as bradley manning to a civilian prison for hormone therapy treatment. manning was convicted in august

of leaking classified documents to wikileaks. after the conviction, manning announced the desire to live as a woman and to be called chelsey. that name change became official last month. manning has asked for hormone therapy. that's not possible in a military prison but could be done in a civilian prison. justin bieber is being accused of an attempted robbery. now, police say this stems from an incident that alleged occurred on monday in the los angeles area. and while the department is still being tight-lipped about all of this, tmz claimed it talked to the alleged victim. she says justin bieber and his friends got into a scuffle at a batting cage in the l.a. area. when bieber saw her reach for her cell phone, she claims he demanded he hand it over. when she refused, he allegedly reached into her purse and tried to grab her cell phone. so far, no arrests have been

made. 7:18. want to check in with sal and see what's happening on the roads. still problems in the east bay. >> we have problems in the east bay. i'm looking to see if anything has changed. nothing has. this is a look -- we're -- we had problems in the south bay. northbound 87 is a mess because of an earlier crash. 85, 101, and so we have a lot of slow traffic there. the east bay as you mentioned we've been talking about it, kirker pass road is closed because of last night's fire, it damaged a power pole and -- well, a lot of people are on highway 4. a lot more people than normal because they can't use kirker pass road. i know steve knows about this. it's really popular. let's take a look at highway 4 and show you how slow it is coming through. you can see the traffic is not just slow in this spot. but it's going to be slow all the way over to highway 242. so please give yourself extra  time. we'll be watching it for you until it reopens. if it does during the morning

7:25. a judge in san jose has scheduled another hearing today in the case of 49ers cornerback chris culliver. he's not expected to be in court today. on friday, he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor hit-and- run charges and felony possession of brass knuckles. san jose police arrested

culliver two months ago after he reportedly struck a bicyclist on tully road and fled the scene. investigators say he also rammed a witness's vehicle and made several violent threats while holds brass knuckles. some 49er fans are accusing the team of a money grab. the 49ers are introducing variable pricing for single game tickets at the new 49ers stadium in santa clara. it means that instead of setting one ticket price for all ten preseason and regular season games, tickets for a particular seat will differ in price. it all depends on the popularity of the game. some ticket prices could be 20 to $90 higher. >> they are not the only team in the nfl doing it. i would say half of the teams in the nfl will have some form of variable pricing. >> some fans say they this pricing is not -- is not fair. but 96% of the stadium seats

for a few. overall, a lot of 90s today and record highs. here's sal. steve, we have a lot going on when it comes to the east bay slow traffic. it's not quite as bad as monday, which so far has been the worse day. slow traffic 80 westbound between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze. about a 40-minute drive time which is roughly double what we normally have between the two shots. the average speed is 30 miles an hour. when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, we have a 35, 40- minute delay. a lot of that traffic son the ramp come -- is on the ramp coming in getting out to the toll plaza. san jose and the south bay has been pretty slow. 85 off to a bad start early. so is 280 and 101. not a lot of major crashes. we had a crash nond 87 at the almaden expressway. a lot of people are on highway 4 trying to get to concord. this is closed because of last night a fire damaged a power pole and crews are out there trying to right the pole and make sure that everything is safe for you to drive on.

breaking news out of san francisco where law enforcement agents are conducting a raid in the dog patch neighborhood. this is a few miles south of at&t park. according to a viewer, several streets are blocked off right now near tennessee street and 23rd street. we just got off the phone with a spokesman with the san francisco police department. he told us that a search warrant is being served but he did not have details of what the investigation is about. ktvu's tara moriarty is on her way to the scene and will bring us a live report as soon as she arrives. a san jose casino is in serious trouble of the state attorney general files a complaint accusing casino operators of doing birthy business. ktvu's janine de la vega, joining us live now at casino m8trix with the information you just found out in the past 30 minutes.

good morning, janine. >> reporter: i did speak with a city councilman about this complaint. he told me that the state attorney's office has has completed the investigation. in the accusation, it basically says that the operators of casino m8trix are lying about their profits to avoid paying state and federal taxes. the complaint accuses of casino m8trix of hiding tens of millions of dollars in from profits from authorities. instead it is funneling the money to outside entities. investigators say it's a ploy to avoid daying the taxes along with -- paying those taxes along with profits to a nonprofit agency. san jose city councilman sam la carter, running for mayor, will be asking the rules committee to take action against the casino. >> we demand more. we deserve more from casino m8trix. and we should suspend their gaming license until we get a

full accounting. >> reporter: he says he has seen the complaint and says it cites three different incidents involving $50 million that was given outside of the casino, including the family that owns the casino. the gaming commission is reviewing the accusation and will decide whether to revoke the license and impose fines. we're still waiting to hear a response from casino m8trix. the spokesperson told me earlier this morning that he is trying to get ahold of the attorney that they deal with and, again, we're still waiting to hear what their response is. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:36. a santa rosa man was killed when he was hit by a truck that police say was driven by a man who was drunk. it happened about 4:00 yesterday afternoon on occidental road near stoney point road. police say the victim, a man in his 70s, was hit by the truck as he was about to get into his parked car.

police say the driver failed a sobriety test at the scene and was later arrested. 7:36. paramedics and hospitals are preparing for more heat-related calls today which is expected to be the hottest day so far this year. santa clara paramedics say they are responding to a steady stream of calls from people suffering from the heat. they say everyone needs to take the necessary precautions to stay cool. >> we do get busy. it's not only people in their homes getting hot. it's people out working on construction sites. people in traffic, with the windows down they just become hot. >> paramedics say it's important to stay hydrated and out of the sun if possible. you should call for help if you start to feel dizzy, weak or nauseated. about 200 people in livermore are still without power this morning after a massive outage that affected thousands of customers. pg&e says that outage was caused by equipment failure but

they are assuring the power brid should hold up. in exchange for a discount, they are asking some business customers to cut usage between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. pg&e says residential bills can tut their bills by setting the thermostat on their board 5 to 10 degrees. state lawmakers take another stab to ban plastic bags all over california. the state senate already approved a ban. now a state senate assembly will debate it. the stores would be required to charge 10 cents for the bags. dozens of california cities and counties already have their own plastic bag bans in place. well, people traveling through san jose's airport, you

are bebeing -- you are being warned about the mers virus. federal health officials are posting signs at sfo and at 21 other major airports nationwide. the signs advise people about the symptoms and the ways to protect yourself against mers. otherwise known as the middle- east respiratory syndrome. this comes after a second confirmed case of mers here in the u.s. in the meantime, two healthcare workers in florida who were exposed to a patient with mers, they are also showing signs of the illness. >> airports are a place where people can get this. >> while the mers virus is spread person to person, it's believed it only happens after close contact. there's novac seege for mers -- no vaccine for mers. it has been found in cam else. doctors are -- camels. doctors are puzzled how it spread to humans.

their shift, there were some bus drivers around 2:00 this morning, probably around 4:45 this morning, they heard gunshots fired from this place where we are right now. it's on the corner of tennessee and this is a known hell's angel compound. we understand that the shots were fired against before 5:00 this morning and then the neighbors said this whole street, which is actually right near the intersection of tennessee and 23rd, right off highway 280 or freeway -- interstate 280, i should say, that the place was just swarmed with s.w.a.t. teams. we know that the san francisco police department's gang task force unit is on scene. we saw them actually carrying some zip ties. so we don't know know if they will be making arrests. we don't know what they are looking for inside, if there are weapons inside, that they will be trying to confiscate. they are waiting on a search warrant before they can go in and confiscate whatever it is they are looking for.

we are hearing reports that this started off as a felony aggravated assault. we're waiting to get more information about how exactly all of this unfolded. the police presence is definitely down from what it was about two hours ago, three hours ago. but they are still here waiting on that search here at the hell's angel compound. live in san francisco, tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, tara. new this morning -- neighbors are describing a chaotic scene after a terrifying high-speed crash in richmond. one woman died on richmond parkway and it triggered a power outage in the area. alex savidge has been at the crash scene since 4:30 this morning and has more on the dangerous activity neighbors say led to this crash. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning to you. neighbors believe street racing is to blame for this deadly crash that happened last night. it was here along richmond parkway. this is where police say a young woman who was inside a car driving by herself lost control at high speeds and she

crashed, veered off the roadway and then slammed right into one of those power poles there. it's the one with the roadwork sign on it. you can see some of the bushes and other debris scattered around the area. this crash knocked out power to hundreds of people in the neighborhood. it happened just about 9:30 last night on girard, also known as richmond parkway, south of barrett avenue. now, the woman behind the wheel of that ford mustang died the at scene -- died at the scene. richmond police have not said if any other cars were involved. a witness said he saw several other cars stopped in the road after the impact and he says those other drivers then left before police arrived. people who live nearby say dangerous street races are dplon on richmond -- common on richmond parkway. >> that's all they do on this parkway from hilltop all the way down is race, race, race, all day long.

surprised no chp or richmond police have never patrolled that area because everybody know that's the area you go to to race. >> reporter: hast night's accident led -- last night's accident led to a widespread power outage in the neighborhood. it left originally more than 700 homes in the dark but power has since been restored to people who live nearby. richmond police have not said if they believe racing was involved in the crash. i've reached out to investigators seafer times and i'm --er vas several times -- investigators several times and i'm still waiting to hear back. neighbors have called for curbing to this street racing and avoiding another deadly accident like the one that happened here. alex savidge, ktvu channel ktvu channel 2 news. a small crash fire in richmond is out thanks to a fast response by if firefighters. crews -- by firefighters. crews are on high's leart because of the heat wave --

crews worked on this. it was an overflow crowd for a memorial for eddie andreini. he was well hone in his home -- well-known in his hometown and he died at the airshow at travis air base. friends say he had just been inducted into the aviation hall of fame. they say he waited 50 years for the honor but never let his celebrity status go to his head. >> he loved to fly more than breathe. >> a report by the ntsb says eddie andreini dured what's called a ribbon-cutting maneuver. that's when the plane flies upside down and a knife attached to the tail cuts a ribbon held 20 feet off the ground. the ntsb says his plane hit the runway, slid for several hundred feet and caught fire. witnesses say it took about five minutes for crews to

arrive there. 8:08. a san jose police officer accused of rape is now facing new charges in an unrelated case. yesterday, 38-year-old geoffrey graves pleaded not guilty to charges that he injured his ex- girlfriend on two occasions in 2012 and 2013. the santa clara county d.a.'s office says it learned about the new ail fashions while they -- allegations while they were investigating the unrelated rape case. graves pleaded not guilty to the rape charge. he's free on bail. he's on paid administrative leave. there could be another showdown between governor brown and the state legislature over the idea of providing condoms to prisoners. the state senate committee approved the condom contribution proposal. supporters say it would cut down on the high rates of sexually transmitted diseases among inmates. governor brown vetoed similar legislation last fall. critics question the cost and

time is 8:13. not everyone likes to be on camera. that's why there was such concern when a set of mysterious cameras popped up in

palo alto. residents were not sure what they were. but city leaders say it was all a misunderstanding. brian flores is live in palo alto with the explanation and reaction from homeowners. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, tori. that's the reaction that we're getting from a lot of residents that they weren't properly talked to from the city about why these mysterious cameras were popping up all over palo alto. you are taking a look at one. this one located off stanford avenue. the mystery has been solved. city leaders tell the mercury news, the cameras are used to gather pedestrian and bicycle data rider. they count how many go through parts of the city and are more accurate than the tube counters used on the street. this is part of the bicycle program which will eventually improve street conditions. it's a $25 million project. as we talked about the problem. these cameras were installed without any previous warning or explanation of resident, that didn't sit well with a

homeowner who said a camera was installed in front of his hole. even though he spoke with the city, he has a tough time believing what the city's explanation was. >> they really have to tape people walking. i think that's a bit over the top. >> it's monitoring people and their movement. that's divet. i just don't -- that's different. i just don't know what it's about. >> reporter: 25 similar cameras have been used since it was first installed in late april. but they say they don't know exactly, where they are. it hired third-party consultants to pick the locations and install the cameras. city leaders say raw video is never kept. they will only get the results untille cameras -- until the cameras are done being used. that's scheduled next frey. a lot of the cyclists and pedestrians taking on the street on stanford. 25 cameras installed. a very heat the topic here in the commune -- heated topic in the community. brian flores, ktvu channel 2

news. 8:15. the san jose city council considering tough new restrictions on pot clubs. the city council met last night to debate proposed new rules that would keep medical marijuana dispensaries away from schools and homes. it would also ban teenagers from going into pot clubs and would limit the operating hours of those clubs. medical marijuana supporters say these restrictions are basically a citywide ban. the city council will debate the issue again next week. police in antioch want you to look a look at this video here. now, look, it shows two people running around with what appears to be baseball bats. the attacks happened in southeast antioch on april 25th and they appear to be random. police say the vandals smashed in windows on cars and trucks. they damaged homes as well. at least 25 people were victimized. damage is estimated in the

thousands of dollars. 8:16. happening today, president obama is traveling to new york where he will try to pressure congress to back his plan to keep the country's roads and bridges from falling apart. the president will make his remarks at a bridge outside new york city that needs to be replaced. the highway trust fund which provides federal funding for transportation projects all over the country, including here in the bay area could run out of money by august. it's funded primarily through federal gasoline taxes. but the taxes have not kept pace with the country's transportation needs. the president is proposing to add money to the fund using revenue from corporate tax reform. 8:17. the pentagon gave approval to transfer the soldier once known as bradley manning to a civilian prison for hormone therapy treatment. manning was convicted back in august for leaking classified documents to wikileaks. after that conviction, manning said he wanted to live as a woman and be called chelsey.

now, that name change became official last mott. manning -- last month. manning has asked for hormone therapy. it's not possible in the military prison but it could be done in a civilian prison. gay couples in idaho could be getting married as soon as this friday. a federal judge overturned idaho's ban on same-sex marriage saying it's unconstitutional because it relegates gay and lesbian couples and their families to second-class status. she ordered the state to start issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples by friday morning. however, idaho's governor already says he intend to appeal the case. that could still put those weddings on hold. 8:18. it turns out the u.s. military has a plan for every kind of scenario, including a zombie apocalypse. according to the foreign policy, it's a division of the washington post company, the military has a document titled counter zombie dominance.

8:25. some 49er fans are accusing the team of a money grab. the 49ers are introducing variable pricing for single game tickets at the new santa clara stadium. it means that instead of setting one ticket price for all 10 preseason and regular season games, tickets for a particular seat will differ in price depending upon the popularity of the game.

have wrapped up their operation at a hangout of the hells ainge jeles motorcycle group -- angels motorcycle group. tara moriarty, you are out there right now to tell us what prompted the early-morning raid. >> reporter: officers took off. they did seize a couple of bags of evidence. i spoke to one of the undercover officers. he said they were able to get stuff. this is a look here at the heles angels compound where around 5:00 this morning, officers swooped in. they were basically doing a raid and they said this was a sort of followup investigation to a felony assault case that happened previous to this. we spoke it a neighbor and she said this is the third time in five years that police have come in and done a raid. so we don't know exactly what they found inside of the compound but we're told that they were looking for something and it was the gang task force unit that was part of this

investigation. so the people that we saw here, we weren't able to actually shoot them because their faces cannot be seen because they are under dov cover -- under cover. this is on 23rd and tennessee. there have been some members trickling into the compound right now. none of them have said much. that's about all we know from here. all of the streets are cleared now. the neighbors are beginning to come out and ask, you know, what happened. we are live in san francisco, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you. state authorities say millions of dollars in profits may have been hidden by a san jose casino. now the state attorney general has filed a normal complaint -- formal complaint. janine de la vega is at casino m8trix right now. you just got a response from the casino. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. yes. i've also spent the last half- hour looking over the 38-page complaint. it has some serious accusations

in it. casino m8trix's gaming license is set to expire at the end of the month. now that the allegations have surfaced, the license may be provide. the state attorney general's office says the casino operators have been lying about profits to avoid paying state and federal taxes. the casino had agreed to pay 5% of the profits to a charity that helps gambling addicts but that organization has not received proceeds. the complaint says the casino owners providing misleading information to authorities and are keeping millions of dollars for themselves. >> as casino m8trix appears to be demonstrating, there's tens of thousands of dollars monning to outside entities. it's not clear where the money is going. it's certainly not going to the federal and state authorities that are taxing it and it's not going to the nonprofit organizations that are supposed to be getting a percentage.

>> reporter: the san jose city councilman liccardo says they appear to be engaging in a shell game, where profits are funneled to outside entities. investigators suspect the money is going to outside businesses. we just received a brief statement from casino m8trix's spokesman which says casino m8trix believes the charges are unfounded and that the legal process will show that to be the case. so the fate of the casino will be decided by the gaming commission. in the meantime, councilman liccardo who is running for mayor of san jose says he's going to file a memo with the rules committee to ask them to suspend the gaming license of casino matrix -- casino m8trix. reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. paramedics and hospitals are preparing for more heat- related calls today which is expected to be the hottest day so far this year.

locked down. viewers are telling us that the roads are shut down. the student is in the office. we'll have more details as we get it in. richmond also, police are investigating a deadly crash that caused a power outage. it happened at 9:30 on the richmond parkway near west mcdonald avenue. some neighbors say it ad a number of cars were racing when -- it appeared a number of cars were racing when the vehicle slammed into a power pole. one witness who did not want to show her face said another driver stopped at the crash scene. >> the person that came out of the camaro screamed out, i killed her! i killed her! >> deadly crash caused a power outage that at one point affected hundreds of homes and businesses. power has been restored to all but a handful of customers.

a new policy on an old problem. lice. pam cook is in the studio with the controversial plan by a local school district. good morning, pam. >> the mt. diablo unified school district will consider keying kids in school even if they have lice. now, right now, most schools' policies are to send a child home from school with information about recommended treatment procedures because the bugs can spread to other children. the mt. diablo school board says since head lice does not pose a health risk, it's not responsible for the spread of any disease, kids should stay in school. health professionals also say isolating kids could lead to bullying and have a negative impact on their academic performance. we might be able to blame social media. medical contracts say -- experts say social media plays a big role in lice. when you take selfies, group
