firefighters made progress in battling 11 fires in san diego county. most evacuation orders are lifted. only four fires are still burning today. the fires burned 39 square miles and destroyed 10 homes. flames erupted last week when high temperatures baked baked the south land. crews are worn out for dealing with the fires for so many days. the story from san diego county. >> reporter: new footage from camp pendleton shows how it was consumed by three fires. destroying 18% of the base. no structures were effected and now all evacuation orders are lifted. to the south, the cocoas fire is not totally out but they expect it contained by the ends

fire officials are looking into fire at a recycling center. crews somebodied to a fire -- responded to a fire around 12:15 a.m. they found a large pile of debris burning inside the building and put it out quickly without damage to the structure. neighbors reported the fire after they saw smoke. the cause is under investigation but there are reports they found camping

supplies. 16-year-old boys is recovering from gun shot wound. it happened at 1030 p.m. last night -- 10:30 p.m. last night. he was outside a youth center. it is not clear if it came from someone in the group or from a passing car. there is a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. an oakland girl is in critical condition because of a drive-by shooting friday. today is her 9th birthday. the gunman was targeting a man at 66th avenue. and a stray bullet hit the girl in the neck while playing outside. ktvu channel 2 news crews counted 17 bullet holes at the scene. the target was shot in the leg and should recover. police are continuing to look for the gunman. new at 5:00 p.m. a track meet in berkeley this

the highway is back open. the crash happened past that bridge here on highway 101. we drove past there and you could see skid marks, car parts and debris from the flairs. police used after the crash. here is what happened. chp says around 2:00 a.m. this morning a car somehow stopped in the middle of the lane, unclear why, we believe that car may have been involved in an earlier crash. the car was not drivable. when it stopped it caused a chain reaction with a male motorcycler rider. -- motorcycle rider. >> a third vehicle entered the scene and was also involved in the collision with the wall. >> reporter: chp tells us the rider had major injuries and may not make it. we are told the motorcyclist was sent to a hospital to be treated. we are waiting to hear back
