make your stand. >> reporter: george zimmerman was tried for murdering trayvon martin but acquitted. >> i don't know what message he was trying to show but i think he wanted to draw more attention to it. >> reporter: a lot of kids just laughed about the picture. i tried to contact him but he was gone for the day. the principal just learned about it this afternoon. john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. >> we have been warning you for days and happening now, construction crews are getting ready to shut down 280 in san francisco. we showed you the support structures already in place. at 9:00 p.m. they will shut doubt part of 280 and that will create a lot of traffic, especially during peak commute times and baseball games. ktvu's jana katsuyama is live now. >> reporter: right now the traffic is slowing well.

though it is your typical evening commute with cars lining up to get on to the 280 southbound. you can see the sign. they have been posting these throughout the week just to make sure people are aware of what is going on. they plan to close this ramp and others add 9:00 p.m. tonight. caltrans says on week days they estimate 70,000 vehicles every day travel this 2-mile section of highway 280. that is why they are doing this closure over the holiday weekend to minimize the impact. most of of the cars will be detoured to highway 101 or south to cisar chavez. >> it will be a huge impact to the city. it is already jammed up with the taxi drivers and uber and lift and all the businesses in the city. >> i am going to mountain view on sunday and i hadn't heard of it till we started talking about it. i will have to plan around it.

>> reporter: they plan to have parking control officers directing traffic. they are urging money, b.a.r.t. and cal train, especially with the giants playing home games through the weekend and through the closure. i spoke with somebody with the chp in the past hour, they tell me they are going to have their officers out there on the roads but they say don't try cut this close. they are going to be out here at 9:00 p.m. and they will have all the ramps shut down at that time. reporting live in san francisco, jana katsuyama, ktvu channel 2 news. >> drivers are warned to avoid the area during the closure or take public transit. if you have to drive into san francisco there are two detours you can take. highway 101, seen there in green on the left. or take city streets, third street in green on the right.

expect long waits. 3 hikers rescued today from the south bay. they got stuck at anderson reservoir dam and called for help at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. rescuers appeared to struggle while bringing up one hiker. news chopper 2 was over the scene. you can see them start to slide but they are attached to a rope and they regain footing. two others were safely rescued and everyone is okay tonight. new at 6:00 p.m. many people across the bay area are told to conserve water or face fines. some are complaining they didn't get the message till now. there are three cities dublin, livermore and pleasanton under restrictions. ktvu's noelle walker found out, those potential fines have phones ringing off the hook.

decline in revenue. the ceo did say hewlett-packard turn around remains on track. two county are suing drug companies for a campaign of deception. officials from santa clara and orange county filed the absolut. they say for two decades companies have promoted prescription pain killers for common conditions like headaches, and back pain. that is causing a surge in addiction and over dose deaths. >> we have seen incroesus in over dose deaths -- increases in over dose deaths. sky rocketing medical cost and crime associated with it. >> the goal of the lawsuit stopping deceptive marketing of the products. the police department tonight is defending the actions of its offenses involved in a deadly shooting. this surveillance video shows the moments before tuesday's

delia garcia-bratcher of choking him. the district attorney is trying to determine whether or not she will face charges. he says delia garcia-bratcher told the boy to stop bullying her daughter. >> she said i want to tell on you, stop being aing a brat. >> this is all lies. >> reporter: a friend came to her defense. >> she is a good mom. why would she put her kids in jeopardy for something stupid. >> reporter: other parents are saying their children are being bullied too. >> the school should do their job when it comes to bullying so the parents don't feel the need to protect their children. >> the superintendent says they are looking into the safety, security and allegations of bullying. delia garcia-bratcher didn't check in at the office when she confronted the boy. >> she did nothing wrong.
