california and the bay area during the '70s and '80s. a group of women in la attended the hearing and hoping to extend his release. an amber alert is still in effect for an abducted child of a 2-year-old edwin vargas was kidnapped in los angeles by his father. the boy's mother h restraining order against him. 27-year-old abraham vargas was hiding and drove off the little boy inside. the car was found later in la but there was no sign of the father and son. a former oakland police officer is collecting tens of thousands of dollars of disability payments. tonight oakland police is investigating. ktvu is in oakland this evening to explain

why this officer has done nothing illegal. >> reporter: the city is trying to figure out whether or not they should cut-off the $52, 000 annual disability payoff this man is receiving. you see they still need some time to investigate that. from what we are learning he can basically do this. it is not against the law because of a loophole. he retired on the disability from 2004 after reportedly suffering injuries from his leg. according to one report mcfarland was involved in a shooting last year killing a friend with one of the suspects during the interrogation in florida. so this case does file into a gray area. it is against the law to retire on disability and work for another law enforcement agency in the state of california but

7:15 and so a lot of people are heading that direction. you can see that road ways are clogged in both directions. this is near 880 along coliseum where things are moving a little bit better. and further south south of san jose and along 280, it is a little backed up. let's talk more about our weather now. a little fog coming in the gates and it will cool you off. we just showed it to you and it is getting on the bay bridge. take your time and moving out the bay area, you are going to find fog at the post. it will clear up up there in the next six hours or so, we got fog along the coast and fog will be a player right through the bay area weekend and that keeps temperatures out here by the park and by th and it

keeps temperatures in the 50s. look at the cool there, you can see all the greens and not just the fog or the clouds. it is right about the east bay hills and it kind of stops. you get the air in here and it is much warmer. you see temperatures different through the coasts. it was ramped up last weekend and it is starting to die out a little bit. the greens may be compacted a little bit more and that compactions as we go through increases our temperatures. that's the plan. fog are going to stay in the coast but the inland valleys are going to be clean. san francisco, we are look for a daytime high of 70 degrees and you start off in the 50s it is foggy. by the third or fourth innings you will get fog and when you leave it is going to be foggy. by lunchtime tomorrow, the fog will start to clear and by late in the day, we'll be sunny in san francisco at 70

it was a first of its kind emergency drill in oakland. police and first-responders simulating a school shooting this morning. it was held on the campus of oakland high school. police and first-responders and other emergency responders all joined oakland school leader for the training event. they practiced how they would react to a shooter on campus. >> it seems like this kind of

incidents are increasing across the country. we need to make sure we are working together in responding to these kinds of events. >> there was no school today so the drill did not affect oakland high students. firefighters in arizona are making progress in a fast moving fire that's tearing through the canyon. it was south of flagstaff. thousands of people remains under evacuations. crews are making good progress in keeping the flames close to community. the fire was caused by humans but they don't know how exactly. new two women metaphor the first met for the first time today. the two will be forever rozzelld thanks to organ donation.
