and musical tributes. speechers included the city leaders -- speakers included the city leaders. >> a wreath procession, a rifle salute and the playing of taps. 3,000 flags were placed at grave sites. the event was organized by santa clara county. hundreds of people turned out for memorial day ceremonies in clayton. experience the pain and trauma that is cupped with those memories. >> it was the 23 year for this event. it is sponsored by the veterans of foreign wars. man is in custody accused of killing his wife. police released this photo of the suspect. 42-year-old he was arrested last night. family called police to the home yesterday morning after discovering the body of his wife. investigators say evidence suggest that the 39-year-old was strangled to death. they also say he confessed to the crime. he will make his first court appearance tomorrow. memorial will begin within the hour to remember a teen who died earlier this month in a accident near santa rosa. she was within weeks of graduating from high school when the car she was in slammed into tree and a pole.

a future cut short. he was among the first three victims of elliot rodger killed in the apartment elliot rodger shared with two students from san jose. at his home neighbors are stunned to know the pain hit so close to home. the parents went to santa barbara. >> i saw them leave this morning and they were very sad and they were in mourning. of course, i think this neighborhood just -- our heart goes out to the kid especially. >> reporter: an only child. this photo was on his web page. he loved basketball and good at math. helping a neighbor's son with homework. >> they will be tremendous shock. >> reporter: he doesn't know thew tell his kids. >> i don't have courage to tell them. >> the neighbor who they thought of as a big brother isn't coming home. >> someone needs to stand up

and say enough is enough. >> reporter: tonight at uc santa barbara there is a vigil planned for the victims of this tragedy. also there is another one planned tonight at urk c santa cruz and in free minute there -- uc santa cruz and in fremont. noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. >> supporters of laura's law say it is possible that such a measure would have helped prevent the shootings in isla vista. she was 19 years old when she was shot to death in 2001 by a mental mentally ill man. last week her parents visited san francisco where leaders are considering enacting the law. >> the point of laura's law is to intervene before tragedies like this happen to help those who are most vulnerable that

followed them and opened fire. one of the things police will look at is the traffic cam rues to see if -- cameras to see if they reported the shooting. the victims left the concert last night and were followed by the gunman. he pulled up and opened fire and then he got out and kept shooting. the 36-year-old man was badly hurt and the driver, his 23- year-old girlfriend drove him to the hospital. she was treated and released but the man remains in critical condition after going through surgery. investigators are going through cell phone records to figure out the gunman's relationship with the victim. >> looks like they may have known each other. we are not sure right now. it doesn't appear to be a random type act. >> reporter: the only description police have is that he is a african american man in

rescue teams in colorado are searching for three men reported missing after a huge landslide. it hit last night near the town. according to reports the men were looking at a previous smaller landslide. the landslide was half a mile wide, 2 miles long and 250 feet deep. no structures or major roads were r effected.
