heather i just touched base with an fbi agent who tells me is he not sure when the street will open. they have put up lights so it looks like they will be here for the duration. it's been entertaining for people who walked bay bito see the grand scene, but for folks who want to get moo their apartment it's been nothing, but frustration. peeking from rooftops, the intersection of polk and jackson streets in san francisco became a spectacle for many hector torres lives in the apartment building next to the location of an fbi search that started around 8:00 in the morning. >> they said you will be lock out for most of the day. >> aassisted by the san francisco police bomb squad and agents wearing hazmat suits entered the building. >> people were in and out, but seems like nothing happened. >> reporter: the fbi won't elaborate on the reason for the precaution or

the criminal that spurred the search warrants. >> i would like to stress there is no threat to public safety. >> reporter: which only further confused people barred from their homes. >> either you are out or in and it's kind of frustrating because you want to be home. >> reporter: the fbi tells me there have been no arrests related to this search warrant, but they do say that they are keeping the street blocked off for the duration. there has been no estimate as to when people may be able to get back into their apartments. for now those people are oleft out in the cold. katie utehs, ktvu channel 2 news. >> a crash happened at 5:45 on the eastbound lanes of highway 84 before interstate 680 in sunol. cara liu joins us with the latest. >> reporter: investigators have had this part of eastbound 84 shut down for about the last four hours. right now crews are at work

moving a big rig out of the roadway. now just the last half-hour crews have gotten the trailer of the jackknifed big rig that was blocking the road out of here and there was a small hazmat, they were dealing with, a small amount of diesel fuel spigging on the ground after the big rig was punctured. now this crash happened before 6:00 this evening. the chp sergeant out here tells me it was a head-on crash between a big rig and red car, killing the man behind the wheel of the car. the driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries. >> preliminary reports have it that the red vehicle, a red ford crossed over the double yellow line and hit the big rig. >> reporter: investigators say there was a white suv that crashed into the big rig moments later. a pregnant woman behind the wheel had to be rushed to the hospital. now as can you imagine, this

theft, reportedly to avoid trouble with rodger. the da wants to clear hong's record for the sake of his fav. a northern california man is one of six climbers presumed dead on washington's mt. rainier tonight. rangers say the climbers including matt hegeman of truckee were likely killed anyway 3300' fall. >> those emergency beacon pings came far from the area where the climbers were on wednesday when they checked in by satellite phone. this is deadliest tragedy since 2001. investigators say 22 tyler wordon was walking along the tracks when he was struck bay train. it happened about 10:15 at the west oakland station. passengers had to stay inside bart cars for about two hours while the scene was cleared.

service between oakland and san francisco resumed around midnight. a bay area man was one of two workers killed in yesterday's accident in yolo county when a basket held by a crane broke loose with the two men inside. that basket fell more than a hundred feet. the men were working on the new winters putah creek car bridge. cal osha is investigating. the u.s. navy briefed the treasure island community about upcoming tests for radioactive materials. back in march the navy said it will test all of the homes on the island for elevated radiation levels. that announcement came after the discovery of radioactive items buried near homes where 2000 people live. they held the open house to help the community get ready for the survey.

. a children's play area has been ruined for students in the north bay after a suspicious fire. it took two fire crews to extinguish the blaze that destroyed the play structure. fire broke out around 10:00 at loma vista elementary school in

vallejo. cristina rendon explains. >> reporter: intense flames sparked numerous calls for help saturday morning. >> at first it looked like the building was on fire, but we could see the playground and the flames come. >> reporter: the playground at loma vista elementary was engulfed in flames as the smell of burning plastic spread across the neighborhood. >> i thought it could have been an electrical fire because it smelled a lot of like burned rubber. >> reporter: fire crews say it's a big loss for the schools. >> the damage is about $25,000- and investigators believe that arsonist maize be to blame because the uple gym and bark chips were burning senatorially. one saw a group of children leaving the school before the fire. >> with the children running by and hearing their conversation, i kind of figured that maybe they were up to something, because i saw them in the school earlier playing. >> it had to either be little kids or someone with some real

issues. >> the charred playground is now off-limits unusable for students during the last two weeks of school. neighbors are grateful class wasn't in session today. >> it was just kind of amazing that being intentionally set that someone would do that to affect all of the kids in the neighborhood. >> reporter: fire investigators are working to figure out just exactly how this fire started, but thankfully nobody was hurt. cristina rendon, kutv channel 2 news. a man found dead in san josi has been identified as a missing caltrans worker. the highway patrol says 54-year- old james allan collier was reported missing may 16th after his tow vehicle was found parked near the san mateo bridge. police say there was no evidence of foul play. a kayaker discovered his body last saturday. the chp says the accident is under investigation. foster farms is suing a pest control company alleging its toes blame for a salmonella outbreak at one of its

facilities. the lawsuit claims that o kin pest control caused the salmonella outbreak because cockroaches were found. 574 illnesses have been tied to salmonella. the finds of a new university of south carolina los angeles times poll in recent months democratic senators including leland yee of san francisco and calderon of los angeles county have been accused of federal corruption charges and the new poll found 84% of voters are concerned about corruption in the legislature, but they thought it was just a few bad apples in sacramento that are

four inches too close and facing different directions. the whole ordeal has left parents and their students with unanswered questions. >> this is a nationwide test and how many schools are eighting? why are we auditing and what percentage are out of you compliance? >> the desks were supposed to be five feet apart and all facing same direction. students can either retake the tests or get a refund. the state department of health has released the latest numbers on pertussis or whopping cough. officials report the cases statewide, 83% of those infected were infants or children. sonoma county had the highest number of cases in the entire state with 410. health officials say they expect to see more people get sick, because in part, many people are not getting immunized. >> the craziest day of her life is how a livermore woman described her day after a teenager drove a car right into

hours. with that visibility is coming down near the immediate coastline and also covering a good portion of the san francisco. as far as basically the overall weather pattern water temperatures 50 degrees and seabreeze is making a comeback. you can get an idea of the shallow marine layer and dense fog that will continue to spread locally into the bay. for tonight, clearing skies and it will be warmer. if you are heading to day 3 of the bottle rock in napa, looks great. we're expecting temperatures in the 80s, 70s. the extends forecast warming trend with the 90s making a comeback in the five-day. tomorrow morning, starting out in the up,. widespread 50s and fog concentrated coast youside and

around the bay to startout sunday. no major changes for today. over the past couple of days tracking this cool weather system that has kind of being pushed up to the north and east. so we started to warm up today and that trend will continue tomorrow. tomorrow temperatures up a good 3-6 degrees from today's high. a one-day cooldown expected for monday and then we go the other direction for the remainder of the week. for san francisco, half moon bay and a few patches locally into the bay out towards oakland and hayward. then into the afternoon hours, still some patchy coastal fog and more 80s inland and by tuesday into wednesday and thursday we could be talking about a few spots approaching 90 degrees. for tomorrow, we're heading into this direction. santa rosa, 83 oakland, 74, livermore in the upper 80s, 87. san josi a forecasted high of
