deputy last night. ktvu's alex savidge is live this afternoon with what relatives say led up to the gunfire. alex? >> reporter: well, good afternoon. according to relatives, this young woman's family called 911 last night because she -- they say this young woman hadn't been taking her medication according to a couple of relatives. she suffered from depression. this teen lives in this house behind us. this is where deputies came last night and they do say this teenager was armed when deputies got here. according to relatives, the girl was the teenager shot to death by san mateo county deputies during a confrontation in this complex. it happened before 9:30. this is the moonridge housing complex on mira mon te road. they say she had a knife when deputies came here. sheriff's investigators have

not said what prompted the deputy to open fire, only that he feared for his life. the teenager's cousin told us the family is devastated. >> i just feel kind of sad. i feel mad and -- i don't know why an officer would come and could that and try to kill my cousin. my cousin didn't do nothing for sure. they could have tasered her or done something better. >> reporter: the sheriff's office has not released the nail of the deputy that opened fire. both sheriff's investigators and investigators with the dracket attorney's office -- with the district attorney's office will be looking into this shooting and whether the deputy was justified in firing. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, alex. a sma police officer has been arrest -- sma police officer has been arrest -- san

jose police officer has been arrested after marijuana was found inside a storage case associated with him. the space was searched because the renter was behind on payments. we're working to learn more from san jose police and have have more online and at 5:00. students at mcclymond high school were evacuated twice after two threats were called in. some students were evacuated after 8:30 after the first threat. they were let back into class after it was determined there was no danger. officials have not revealed the nature of the threat. then before 11:00, the school was evacuated again because of a bomb threat. school is due out at noon. officials are making sure every student is accounted for and are sending them home. the muni sickout in san francisco is stretching into a third day but the situation is improving for riders.

there are many more buseses and light rail vehicles riding today than there were on monday and tuesday. cable cars are not running. an mta spokesperson told us they may return to service this afternoon, the cable cars. an arbitrator is set to settle the labor dispute this saturday but it's still unclear whether the sickout will continue ahead of the meeting. >> so far today we've had about 440 vehicles out on the street out of 600. compared to the last two days, that's a lot better. we're cautiously optimistic things are looking better. >> i can't live here any more. i had to leave some time ago because the cost of living was too high. >> one driver said she's been working the last three days but supports her colleagues who may or may not be sick. employees rejected the latest contract proposal saying a pension contribution will take a big bite out of any salary increase. there's video of the moment

u.s. soldier bowe bergdahl was freed and turned over to u.s. forces in afghanistan. the dramatic video was e-mailed to news organizations by the taliban. as kyla campbell reports, the video raises further questions in congress about the us what's decision to -- about the white house's decision to trade bergdahl for five detainees in guantanamo bay. >> reporter: many want to take a look at bowe bergdahl to see if his reported deteriorating health is office. the video shows him in a truck as a blackhawk helicopter flies overhead. some members appear to have rocket propelled grenades. they approached to get bowe bergdahl and give him a thorough patdown before he gets on the helicopter. the white house is getting slammed by republicans for not giving congress the mandatory 30-day washing about the swap of -- warning about the swap of derg ball for the detainees --

country. no member of the armed forces should be left behind and president obama saw to that. >> reid says any questions of violations of military code will be resolved by the u.s. army, not "monday morning quarterbacks on capitol hill." president obama is in brussels for the annual summit of world leaders but this time russia is not invited. the president arrived today for the g-7 summit representing leaders of seven nations. normally, it's the g-8 summit or group of 8, including russia. the u.s. and other members suspended russia's membership earlier this year due to putin's interference in ukraine. the g-7 will focus on the crisis. this is president obama's second stop on a three-country visit to europe. now to our coverage of the prime election. as expected jerry brown took the top spot in the governor's race. he received 54% of the vote. republican neel kashkari had 19% and will face brown in

november. republican tim donnelly came in third with 14% of the vote. the race for the number two spot was close. early polls showed donnelly in the lead but neel kashkari, a former u.s. treasury official, pulled ahead, spending $2 million of his own money and winning the endorsement of some big-named republicans across the country. democratic state senator alex padilla will face pete peterson in november for the race for secretary of state. he edged out peterson's in yesterday's primary by a little more than 13,000 votes. suspended state senator leland yee came in third despite dropping out of the race following his arrest. but it was too late to get his name removed from the ballot. dave cortez and sam lick kaur da will -- liccarda will face off in november.

cortese feels pension reform for police officers went too far. he also feels the city needs a leader who will bring people together. we spoke to cortese and liccardo this morning. >> it's been a toxic, combattic atmosphere here -- combative atmosphere here. that will change under me. >> i think the people in the city want leadership that will ensure that we have a sustainable future not one that underfunds our liabilities because we weren't responsible enough to pay our debts. voters in san francisco have passed proposition b. it reqoirs voter aofl -- requires voter approval for water construction above a certain height. they celebrated with the

victory party at pier 2. the existing limit on the waterfront rages from 40 to 84 feet. under prop b voters would have to approve any new building on port of san francisco property that exceed current height limits. and san francisco voters also approved proposition a. it approves a $400 million bond to pay for seismic upgrades on city buildings that house emergency responders. 79% of voters supported the measure. this is the second of three planned bond measures to ensure that all city buildings can withstand a major earthquake. we have all of the election results at ktvu.com. you will find links to the races in each county. new at noon, it appears that the oakland as are close to staying at the oakland coliseum for another ten years. the team's owner said the lease deal should be done in the next couple of weeks. in april, the as rejected the terms of a ten-year lease which

one person was hurt after a crash in oakland involving a stolen car going the wrong way on the freeway. the chp spotted the stolen car around 9:00 last night. officers tried to stop it but the driver got on interstate 880 going the wrong way. the chp says it has a lead as to that person's identity. the person in the car that was hit received minor injuries. we're learning new details about a stabbing near a san

francisco muni platform. it happened just before 6:00 this morning. police say the victim was camping on the side of the road near the embarcadero and folsom street. a muni driver saw the man collapse and to stopped to help him. the victim is expected it survive. two teenaged boys are recovering. after 9:00 on third street near revere avenue, police say the 15-year-old and 17-year-old boys were leaving a building when they heard gunfire. one boy was hit in the shoulder. the other's leg was grazed. both were taken to the hospital. and are expected to survive. no arrests have been made. there's new video in the case of an oakland security guard accused of beating a special needs student in a

wheelchair. the video shows marshall mitchell wheeling 17-year-old student francisco martinez to an elevator last month. the two then started fighting over control of the wheelchair. a second guard steps in but in the scuffle, the teen who has cerebral palsy, falls to the floor with mitchell apparently kicking him in the head and dragging him into the elevator. >> the event was egregious to begin with. there's no excuse for an adult to behave like this in a violent manner. >> the video released last week allegedly shows mitchell after the elevator reefed the upper floor rolling francisco down the hall and hitting him. the teen said he suffered head, neck and back pain. mitchell was fired and now faces criminal charges. the other security guard cotton is being placed on leave. we were unable to reach cotton for comment. the city of oakland has agreed to pay $110,000 to

settle a federal civil rights lawsuit stemming from a deadly police shooting. the lawsuit was filed by the family of 18-year-old allen blueford. he was shot and killed by police two years ago. witnesses say blueford pointed an officer during a chase. blueford's family contend the shooting stems fra an incident -- from an incident of racial profiling that turned into a deadly encounter. san leandro police have arrested two teens in connection with a violent crime spree. investigators say it began when they attacked two middle school students on cornwell way monday afternoon. one of the teens allegedly pistol-whipped one of the younger boys and stole their nike shoes and smartphones. police say the two teens later confronted two women pulling into a parking lot. officers say the teens tried to steel the women's car which had a 2-year-old child inside. >> the adults yelled out, please don't do that. there's a baby inside. and the kids stopped the car

right away. >> police are now looking into whether the same two teens are responsible for another robbery at the bayfair b.a.r.t. station last weekend. the new kaiser hospital facility in san leandro is now up and running. the final patients were transferred from hayward to the new facility yesterday. but some nurses say it's a rough transition for them. the new hospital has new equipment and new procedures. some workers say they only had three days of training and really don't feel comfortable with everything yet but they say they don't feel patient care is in jeopardy. we have been advertising a warming trend over the past few days. it remains right on track. we started out with low clouds and fog. still a factor on the coast. san jose, looking at mostly sunny skies and san jose on track to reach at least in the upper 70s for this afternoon. warmest locations approaching the 90-degree mark.

right now on, here you can see the clouds. this basically looks like a june weather pattern out there. clear skies. but still some fog hugging a good portion of the coastline from santa cruz to half moon bay, el granada. moving up to the north, closer that san francisco and daly city, still some patchy fog for parts of san francisco. also out towards the golden gate bridge. so with that, just with the presence of the marine layer, we're seeing a big range in temperatures. 54 at half moon bay. san francisco 59. but the other extreme, it's 80 in livermore and 84 in antioch. santa rosa currently checking in, 74 degrees. for tonight, a familiar weather story, cool temperatures coastside, warm temperatures inland i will show you the fog on the golden gate bridge. still a few patches approaching the bay bridge as well. tomorrow, a little bit warmer after some morning fog. this will be the key headline into the weekend. we're warming back up. inland areas back up in the mid ninths for saturday and -- mid-

90s for saturday and sunday. we've been watching this guy. this begins to move out of town. with that, we'll begin the warming trend for today. but it really kicks in by the weekend. so today we'll call it mild to warm. friday, a little bit warmer and then temperatures zoom up. by sunday, i think that will be the hottest day of the period with temperatures inland on track to reach the mid-90s. livermore, 96. these are the projected numbers. here's our forecast model. we'll put this into motion. as you can see, we basically do have the clear skies out there across the region. but still some patchy coastal fog. we should have fog right near the immediate coastline that will keep the beaches on the cool side. livermore, 88. san jose spending most of the days in the 70s. we're forecasting a high of 81. a look ahead to your five-day forecast with your weekend always in view. maybe a little bit of a bump up in the numbers for thursday and

friday. but she's are minor changes. you will notice the pig change saturday -- big change saturday into sunday. the big story, the microclimate, you have 50s to right around 90. >> all right. thank you. well, while our weather is relatively quiet here, severe thunderstorms are moving through the midwest. yesterday that caused hail the size of baseballs in some areas like nebraska. the hail smashed windows and damaged siding on the houses. there were at least a dozen reports of possible tornadoes. more storms are expected today and then the system moves towards the mid-atlantic states. the nfl has released the official logo for the super bowl to be played at the levi stadium and coming up the one big difference for the logo for the past 45 years.

stocks edging higher this afternoon. trading has been muted following discouraging reports on hiring and the trade deficit. investors appear to be holding back ahead of friday's big jobs report. the nasdaq getting a boost from apple. that will happen at the close of business onfry. apple stock up 1 1/3. we're getting a look at the official logo for the super bowl that will be played at the new levi stadium in 2016.

it features the number 50, the lombardi trophy, levi stadium and notable landmarks. you will notice the landmark is not using roman num erles. they said it's just not as -- nummerrals. they said it's just not as pleasing to the eye. a popular grocery store chain says it's out of bankruptcy. they also named a new president and ceo. the founder was named chairman of the board. they have had 3200 employees. it has been the focus of protest because they say the chain fired employees who did not have green cards. they filed for bankruptcy last july. one person was hurt after a chain reaction crash in hayward. a witness says a truck lost control about 7:30 near bombard avenue and industrial

boulevard. the truck went through a fence, clipped a wall and hit a boat at a storage facility. a woman driving by tried to avoid the truck but ended up hitting another car. >> not a good start to my morning after i got upset and tried to make sure everything was instead of worrying about somebody destroying my vehicle. >> police were called. no word if anyone will be cited. bay bridge engineers are presenting the test results on the latest problem on the eastern span. caltrans says 200 of those high- strength rods have shifted since installed. they say the rods could be jolted in a major earthquake, possibility threatening the stability of the entire bridge. john sasaki is at the meeting and will have the latest at 5:00. also at 5:00 today, more on the san francisco bomb suspect who was arrested this week after an fbi manhunt. ryan chamberlain was in federal
