request for comment, they did not get back to us. mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. a san jose police officer is out on bail tonight facing charges that he planned to sell drugs. ktvu's robert handa is in the south bay with what lead to the officer's arrest. robert? >> reporter: well, that police officer was arrested here at san jose police headquarters hours after marijuana was discovered and ktvu channel 2 news learned why he was taken into custody so quickly. >> reporter: workers at this public storage facility checked on a locker because the owner is behind in rent. they called police after finding american inside. a police officer, son vu, was connected to the storage locker. sources told ktvu investigators obtained surveillance video tape of son vu at the locker. and estimated the amount of pot

at 20 pounds. police are not confirming the information but said the evidence allowed them to arrest son vu that evening charged with possession with intent to sell. >> the officers and the district attorney felt comfortable the amount of marijuana was enough to charge the officer. >> son vu has other legal troubles. he is named in a excessive force lawsuit. his arrest troubles the rank and file. >> we have formed a relationship and so it does resinates differently. >> reporter: officers have access to a legal defense fund but usually for incidents within the line of duty. >> has to be related to official duties. and based on what i heard i don't think this falls into that. >> reporter: son vu posted $20,000 bail and he was released this afternoon. he has a court date of june 18.

tonight at 10:00 p.m. more details on son vu's legal troubles. robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. family members are raising questions after a sheriff's deputy shot and killed a woman described as having special needs. deputies responded to the housing complex last night after family called 911. they said yanira serrano-garcia was mentally ill and not taking her medication. the sheriff's office says deputies found yanira serrano- garcia standing in the streets and lunged at one of the deputies with a knife. that is when a deputy fired killing her. family members say the shooting was not justified. >> i just feel sad. i feel mad. and i don't know why an officer would do that and try to kill my cousin. my cousin didn't do nothing. they could have tased her.

could have done something better. >> the deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave while the district attorney investigates the shooting. a police officer was hurt in a head on collision with a suspected drunk driver this afternoon. the officer was responding to a call when the crash happened about 12:45 p.m. this afternoon. his injuries were minor. police the driver made an illegal turn in front of his patrol car. police arrested the 45-year-old on suspicion of driving under the influence. firefighters are trying to control a three alarm fire that is destroying a boarded up hotel. it is on east main street near grant street. the fire started at 3:00 p.m. this afternoon in the building. stair wells had been removed so crews can't go inside. the building is also partially collapsed so they have been battling the flames from the

outside. there is no word on how the fire started. firefighters said it is tough to keep watered and vandals out -- scottered and vandals out. -- squattered and vandals out. >> reporter: the san bruno pipeline explosion, pg&e officials said they received notification on monday that new charges would be filed next month. prosecutors did not provide details about the filing did say pg&e continues to believe that criminal charges are not merited and it did not willfully violate safety standards. pg&e plead not guilty. the san francisco city attorney is trying to force muni employees to go back to work. he filed a charge against union workers. the action urges union leaders to get workers to end their sick out that has gone on for three days. men a of the lines dis-- many

of the lines dissipated today. on monday only a third of the fleet was in service and yesterday that increased to half the fleet. cable car service remained unavailable. caltrans put a price tag on the fix for anchor rods on the eastern span of the bay bridge. the construction manager reviewed potential problems and the solution to the construction for the toll bridge program over site committee. the biggest issue is anchor rods that sit in opening that are too small. that limited space -- that limited space could cause wear so they are working to enlarge the openings. that will cost $1.5 million. and he says the bridge is able to with stand a major earthquake. >> i see it rocking and rolling like any other bridge and back in service pretty quick.

i don't see any -- i rather be on this bridge than any other bridge in the state. >> another item addressed today was humidity and corrosion inside the structure. officials say there has been no corrosion and the humidy is under control. the city counsel -- humidity is under control. the city counsel agreed to raise the minimum wage. they voted to phase in the increase from $9.60 to $13 an hour by 2018. businesses that pay fewer than 800 hours every two weeks will be exemp. also businesses that make -- exempt also businesses that make half of their anales outside the city will split the difference. labor groups say it creates confusion and are unfair. it goes up for a final vote next month. some state lawmakers say lives are at risk because of
