decreasing. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. that breaking news is a bomb threat in mountain view. this is a picture tweeted by mountain view police. officers are clearing the area of el camino real and grant road because of a bomb threat. you can see that police are staged outside of a walgreens store. newschopper2 is heading to the scene. police say bomb-sniffing dogs have been called in. it's recommended that you avoid the area. again, east camino real and grant road. we're continuing to follow the breaking news. we'll give you any updates as they come into the ktvu newsroom. now to sunnyvale where a deadly officer-involved shooting is under investigation. the shooting happened just a few hours ago near north fair oaks and maude avenues. police shot and killed a man while serving search warrant and arrest warrants. ktvu's robert handa is there

live with what's happening right now. good afternoon, robert. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. there is still a lot of activity going on in the sunnyvale neighborhood where the officer-involved shooting took place this morning. you can see officers from the sunnyvale department of public safety where an arrest warrant and is search warrant were being served on a homicide suspect. a unit made up of officers, investigators and members of the swat team came to the home at fair oaks and maude avenues around 9:00 a.m. police say officers knocked on the door, made verbal contact with the person inside. the situation came hectic and violent when the suspect brandished a gun. >> the person ignored orders and displayed a weapon. subsequent to that, officers were involved in a shooting and

the subject was shot and taken to valley medical center where he succumbed to his injuries and died. >> it's kind of scary. you never know who is living next door. it could be a regular die or a murder suspect. apparently this went bad fast. >> reporter: it did all go down very fast. a middle school went into lockdown. that was lifted quickly. the seen scene is still shut down. department of department has not released the man's name or many details about the case except to say it stems from an older missing person's case. we'll have more at twitter, facebook and ktvu.com as well as our 5:00 p.m. newscast. robert handa, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, robert. police in san jose are trying to figure out who stabbed a man and left him to die on the side of the road in a rural part of the city.

police thought the man was involved in a hit and run because they saw skid marks on piercy avenue. a passing driver called 911. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. when the coroner came and turned the body over, there was at least one stab wound. >> these types of investigators are very difficult. it doesn't appear there is any surveillance cameras because of where the body is located. but again, our investigators are out and we reach out to the public. is. >> it's not known if the man was stabbed there or somewhere else. he's not been identified but police say he was 36 years old, latino from san jose. the attorney for the giants' fan brutally beaten at dodger stadium opening day in 2011 is fighting to get 911 recordings played during the civil trial. bryan stowe is suing the dodgers and the owner claiming security at the stadium was

inadequate. katie utehs is live in the newsroom with the newly released recordings. >> good afternoon. the recordings capture the terrifying moments following the attack as bryan stowe lay in the parking lot unconscious and bleeding from his head. this audio his attorney wants the jury to hear. >> i'm in the parking lot at domger stadium -- dodger stadium someone got knocked out. >> the injuries bryan stowe endured following opening day 2011 go far beyond a knockout. the woman made the 911 call from parking lot 2. >> is he awake? >> no there's blood coming out. >> she handed the phone to stow's friend? >> he's bleeding. he has a pulse. his respiratory rate is decreasing. >> stow's attorney is trying to get the 911 recordings played in court. so far the transcript has only been read by the callers. this is video of another fight

on opening day played in court yesterday. they are trying to prove the dodgers and frank mccourt failed to provide adequate security at the stadium the day of the week. >> it was a dodger fan in dodger jersey. no way to identify him. if i saw hill, i could reck -- him, i could recognize him. but he's gone. >> there was testimony that the number of security personnel was not what it could have been. stow's attorney said the two security guards assigned to parking lot number 2 where bryan stowe was attacked were not at their post. stow's attorney plans to focus his argument on the absence of the two security guards. katie utehs, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. much of san francisco muni resumed regular service today bringing relief to thousands of riders. more than 90% of the 600 vehicles are running on all routes and lines. this follows a three-day worker

sickout apparently relating to an ongoing contract dispute. they will monitor service throughout the day to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. >> it appears that the sickout is closing out and we're hoping the worse is behind us. it's too early to say for sure, especially this is something that nobody is claimed they organized. at this point, things are looking better and we hope they continue that way. >> the transit workers union denies the sickout was organized by the union. the two sides are set to go to arbitration. and the iconic cable cars are back up and running after three days of not running. a ktvu news crew rode on one of the first operating this morning on the powell and mason street line. a lot of the riders were tourists who were disappointed during the sickout. in the east bay, a group of a.c. transit riders has invited agency tours on a listening

tour to hear their concerns. the group is worried about longer wait times for buses and a new fare policy that eliminates paper transfers starting july 1st. the event starts at 14th street and broadway in downtown oakland at 4:15 this afternoon. we're learning more about the arrest of a san jose police officer that we first told you about yesterday on ktvu news at noon. 42-year-old sun vu is on paid leave. he was arrested tuesday after 20 pounds of marijuana was found in a storage unit he was renting. workers at the facility were cleaning out the unit waus vu had fallen -- because vu had fallen behind on the parents. >> the officers along with the internal affairs unit and the district attorney felt comfortable the items and the amount of marijuana within the storage bin was enough to go ahead and charge the officer. >> the 20-year veteran is out on bail and due in court later this month. he's the second san jose police officer to be arrested this

year. officer jeffrey graves was arrested in march after being accused of raping a woman in a hotel room while on the job. hundred of people gathered at a half moon bay church to remember an 18-year-old woman shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy. ♪ >> yanira serrano-garcia was shot tuesday at the moonridge housing complex. deputies say she came at them with a knife. family members say garcia was suffering from depression and had not been taking her medication. but they are questioning why officers used deadly force instead of deploying a taser. the san mateo county sheriff's office and the district attorney are investigating the shooting. the deputy who opened fire has been identified as men true. he's a nine-year veteran of the department. officials say true felt his life was in danger and had a split second to make the decision to discharge his weapon. this is the second deadly officer-involved shooting in

san mateo county this year. san leandro police are set to meet with other law enforcement officials tomorrow to combat recent violent robberies carried out by large packs of teens. investigators say there have been almost 20 attacks near b.a.r.t. transit lines in alameda county including some near the bayfair shopping center. in an effort to stop the attack, san leandro officers are joining forces are other local police departments, alameda county sheriff's officials and items stolen include iphones and even nike shoes taken off victims' feet. the ceo of general motors calls it a pattern of incompetence an neglect. the internal shakeup due to the massive ignition switch recall. mark tamayo is tracking your bay area forecast. when you can expect the warmest weather this weekend. >> reporter: and we may be more than a year and a half away from super bowl 50 here in the

view. newschopper2 is now over east camino real, east camino real and grant road. police are clearing the area because of a bomb threat. some officers are staged outside of a walgreens store. police say bomb-sniffing dogs have been called in and it's recommended that you avoid this area of east el camino real and grant street. you can see some of the police officers there blocking off the street and a fire truck there blocking the other end of the street. again, this is because of a bomb threat in the area of mountain view and it is recommended to avoid the area. as we get more information on this situation, we'll bring it to you. today, we got a progress report from the bay area committee planning super bowl 50 at levi stadium in 2016. ktvu's alex savidge is live in san francisco with more on today's announcement. good afternoon, alex. >> reporter: well, good afternoon to you, tori. organizers said today money for the big game is pouring in. they say more than $40 million

in funding has already been secured. much of it coming from google, apple and yahoo!. also this morning, we got to see how the super bowl host committee plans to showcase the bay area. [ applause ] >> we're very proud of this logo. >> reporter: this morning, inside the theater here at the exploratorium, the ceo of the super bowl host committee unbare vailed the bay area logo. this is different from the nfl 50 logo we showed you yesterday. the game will be played at the levi stadium in santa clara but the host city is san francisco. that's where the nfl experience will be set up at moscone center and many of the events leading up to the game will take place in the city but planning is taking place all across the region. >> we expect literally every hotel from san jose to santa clara to san francisco to be all filled for that whole week

if not longer. there will be a lot of different events. we have to move people around. >> reporter: the ceo of the super bowl host committee said today one key area it is focusing on is transportation, especially with the game being played more than 40 miles from san francisco down in santa clara. the committee has already met with bay area transportation agencies and is studying past super bowls. >> and though we're 20 months out, you can't start to plan for transportation soon enough. we'll be engaging all modes and all support we can gather throughout the bay area, whether it be public, private, semiprivate, transportation modes. >> reporter: and the planning committee is also looking forward to levi stadium opening up later this year so they can get a look at what the stadium looks like when you have people inside of it and games being played. they hope to learn the best way is to get -- pest ways to get -- best ways to get people to

and from the game. they will be representing philanthropy with with proceeds going to nonprofits. the countdown is on and organizers say they will be heady -- ready. alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. a mountain view police captain tweeted this picture from levi stadium, jessica said that she and other members of the department are working with the 49ers on a parking plan for game days. there's word today of an internal shakeup at general motors as the company continues to deal with the ignition switch recall scandal. mary barra said 15 employees have been fired over the switch failure blamed for at least 15 deaths. she said more than half of the fire were in senior or executive roles. the announcement came as she released an internal investigation into the deet effective switches. fee -- deeffective switch --

as far as current numbers out there, updated for the 12:00 hour, you can see the warm ones out towards antioch, livermore, walnut creek in the 80s. san jose checking in at 78. look at san francisco, only 57 degrees in half moon bay with all of that fog only managing 55 degrees out there. today, cool coast, temperatures near 90, though, inland as we showed you the warm numbers out towards the east bay. you will see the fog. here's the transamerica pyramid looking out towards san francisco bay. tomorrow morning fog. it will be mild to warm and the weekend we're trending up the temperatures. we'll call them hot. at least approaching the mid- 90s. could be in the upper 90s as well as we head into sunday. there's the fog bank. patchy fog and cooler for the beaches. inland, warm and hot. saturday, we'll warm things up. sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend. in fact, the hottest day of the

parking lot of a walgreens. we'll continue to follow this story and have more at 5:00. stocks are higher in afternoon trading due in part to the european central barblg's action to boost that region's sluggish economy. it cut two key rates pushing one below zero to encourage beiges to lend money -- banks to lend money. investigators trying to determine what caused a military jet to crash in the southern california neighborhood yesterday. self-homes were damaged but the pilot was able to eject safely. no one on the ground was hurt. it was the first of two military aircraft crashes yesterday. last night, a navy jet crashed off the southern california coast as it prepared to land on an aircraft carrier. the pilot also ejected in that incident and is in stable condition. a bay area family is asking for the public's help in

finding a little service dog that belongs to a paralyzed armed robbery victim. the dog is the companion is a 20-year-old man whose spine was shattered in 2007 when he was shot during a robbery. he lost the dog named love last night in san leandro. the family says the apricot colored poodle did not have its color on when it disappeared. they are offering ale it 1,000 reward for its return. anyone with information is asked to call the number that you see on the screen. looks like the man behind the hidden cash phenomenon has a new venture. a week ago, we interviewed the secretive man who has been hiding envelopes of money in various bay area locations he's been leaving clues on twitter. today on his twitter account, he said he is starting another venture for giving back called travel funder which promises free trips. he also says he will be back in san francisco hiding more money

this weekend. a high school year is not complete without a senior class prank. ♪ >> students at santa barbara high school hired a mariachi band to follow their principal around campus. john bechio was surprised by the band when he walked into his office tuesday morning and they continued to play for an hour and a half. he thought it was clearer and called it a very special sendoff. ktvu's robert handa is on the scene in sunnyvale where a plif has shot and -- police officer has shot and killed a man. we told you about it at the beginning of the newscast. police are still combing the scene for evidence. we're trying to get more information on a routine search warrant that ended in gunfire.
