it might not be summer yet, but for much of the bear area, it sure felt like it as temperatures in some parts of the region soared well past the century mark. good evening, i'm ken wayne >> hello, everyone, i'm heather holmes. we begin with our weather across the bay area. live pictures and the story depends on where you live. on the right, you can see the goalen gate bridge barely visible. on the left mount diablo where the temperatures reached triple digits, mark has been tracking the temperatures across the bay area. >> he joins us, big difference from the coast area. >> it's all interesting when you have an ocean, a bay we are talking about 50s all the way to the triple digits. as far as the triple digits, we are talking about the preliminary numbers from this

afternoon. fair field, 104. walnut creek, 102, concorde, 102. these are preliminary numbers. we are talking about the big range. 57 at ocean beach with the fog. walnut creek, 101 degrees. that was this afternoon. we had some stub born fall around parts of the shore line. overcast parts of the coast. if you come in closer, here is a look at the current numbers. san francisco in the upper 60s, look at the all of the 80s. still pretty warm out toward oakland, mountain view, san jose topped out in the lower 90s, right now, they are reporting 89 degrees. another hot forecast coming up for your monday. we'll look at that and take a look at the cooling trend in the five-day forecast that's coming up in 10 minutes. >> >> remember, you can get the very late u latest on the conditions from mark an the rest of the ktv overages weather team, they are posting live, even when we are not on

the air. >> >> another spare the air day tomorrow. low wind, high temperatures expected to create unhealthy levels of pollution. smog will be more concentrated than it day, which was a spare the air day. tomorrow will be the fifth spare the air day of the season. you are being asked to driveless. >> >> developing news from las vegas where two police officers are among five people killed in a shooting. sheriff's deputies say a man and a woman walked into a pizza parlor at a shopping mall at 11:30 this morning and shot the two officers eating their lunch. investigators say one of the officers managed to return fire. the couple ran into a wal-mart across the street and fatally shot one person there. a man on the street said one of the shooters talked to him. >> they had a backpack and i saw their guns in their hands. he told me to tell the cops it was a revolution.

>> the sheriff doug gillespie said the officers entered the wal-mart and the woman shot and killed the man before turning the gun on herself. >> >> here in oakland, a shooting claimed the life of a 15-year- old girl. we get the latest from kristina randon -- kristina. >> >> reporter: oakland city leaders are meeting with the public. two women from l.a. they are talking about ways to model the way they approach crime like l.a. to reduce it here in downtown oakland. last night's shooting is an example of why a change is desparately needed. flashing lights at an east oakland crime scene faded with the sunrise, replaced by religious candles. marking the spot where a 15- year-old girl named samantha was killed saturday night. police say she was a passenger in a car with two men in their 20s.

visited the thoroughbred in a barn and he was flown back to his home race course in orange county. he will rest and get ready for the breeders cup classic coming up in november. despite the heartbreaking loss yesterday, california chrome is the only california bred horse to when the kent ken derby and the preakness. what you didn't know during the race yesterday is that the horse had an injury and was probably running in some pain. i want to show awe picture of his right front hoof. his trainer described the injury like having a fingernail pulled out. it apparently happened when he ran into another horse. colt is being treated and is expected to fully recover in a few weeks. the co-owner, remains bitter, referring to the other owners as cheaters, he told espn these people nominate their horses for the triple crown and hold out two races and come back and

run one. that would be like me at 6'2 playing basketball with a kid in a wheelchair. trainer art sherman defended his sponsor's remarks >> i think at the heat of the conversation with the press and everything, sometimes, you might get a little vocal and not really think about what he is saying. you know in three races in five weeks. that takes its toll. >> the team for the belmont winner had re5:00ions to his remarks. owner robert evans said it might be better to space out the triple counsel races. press commentary some calling colbert "dumb" and saying his statements detracted from the glory of the racing. >> >> the man behind hidden cash is back here in the bay area doing what he is famous for, hiding cash. this time, he was at kristi field. the first treasure hunters found their money.

hidden cash began to tweet out clues this morning, sending treasure seek ares to san francisco. the clues about sand, and the palace of fine arts was just tricky enough to make following the exact location tough. >> i started with the twitter feeds and i recognized the clues immediately. >> eventually, the clues lead searchers to the beach at chrisy field >> i'm looking for the blue signs, though, he said between the blue signs. >> rob taylor brought his daughter drew with him and found the first hidden cash of the day. >> $100. >> he said he let his feet lead him to the hidden money >> i take my feet through it. i think that's what they were doing last weekend in l.a. i just kind of got lucky. >> once the first hidden cash was found here at this beach,

in alaska, these four polar bears, big stars, for four days, each of them wore a camera. some of the video has been released. showing a dive, potential date between two of the bears. scientists hope to learn how the bears are affected by climate change. pretty cool, though, huh? >> very cool. >> they would bewaring swimsuits. they would not be so white if they were hanginged on ocean beach. some fog out there, though, right? temperatures for today, we had a big range from the 50s to the 60s near the immediate coastline. temperatures inland topping 100 degrees. look at the triple digits toward morgan hill and way up above 105.
