new surveillance video shows oakland mayor jean quan's suv moments before it crashed with another car yesterday. it is generating a lot of attention because the other driver says the mayor was on her cell phone and ran a red light. ktvu's claudine wong with how the mayor responds to this. >> reporter: mayor jean quan made it clear she would like to get this conversation back to the issues facing the city but for now the conversation remains on this accident and who is to blame. >> reporter: new surveillance video obtained by ktvu channel 2 news shows the suv driven by mayor jean quan going down market street before the accident. it is quick. can't see what she doing but two blocks later she crashed. >> i was on market when i was hit from the rear. >> reporter: it was a minor accident with the exception of

the woman's car. >> 100%. >> reporter: mayor jean quan confirms today she did get a red light violation last year. she describes it as a rolling stop. at the time of yesterday's accident she was in between events. her office said today it is looking at getting her a driver. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. today police arrested a man accused in a chain of hit-and- run crashes in downtown san francisco that injured two people. one is now fighting for their life. the 26-year-old first crashed into the park 55 hotel. they say he then hit a muni bus in the area and police say he ran a red light and hit a person at market and fifth streets before hitting a second person. this all happened at 8:30 p.m. last night and the person hit in the first crash has life

a huge tree limb came down to the ground today from a tree on 14th street between 10:00 a.m. and noon and stretched across the sidewalk. there were plenty of people and cars around. no one was hurt however the tree damaged a light pole. crews were sent into clean it up this afternoon. tracy morgan is still in critical condition and will be in the hospital for several more weeks after a deadly crash over the weekend. tracy morgan broke his nose, a leg and several broken ribs. his friend seen there in green was killed when a driver smashed into the back of their limo. an investigator said the driver was awake for more than 24

looking down. looking in their lap. >> reporter: professional bicycle safety instructor says he was pedaling right here. 10 days ago. wearing bright yellow. about to merge into the left lane when a driver slammed into him from behind. >> i dodged a bullet. >> reporter: he curved a con-- suffered a concussion. >> had to be distracted driver. he struck me right in the center of his car. >> reporter: new details reveal cars hit bicycles most often from behind and city crashes are more likely with more lanes. as you can see the bigger the road the bigger the risk of a fatal collision. speed one factor but distracted driving is increasing. >> it could ruin someone's life. >> the driver could face criminal charges.

now his children and their mother are missing. police officers came to the house on 16th street before 8:00 a.m. this morning and found a man was shot to death inside. ktvu's amber lee is here where the search is on for the children and their mother. you just spoke with police. i just came out of a briefing with police. neighbors found the father shot dead in the home on the 1600 block of 16th street. police are treating this as a homicide investigation with the missing mom with three children. mom is 35 years old. children are 6 years old, 12 years old, and a two-year-old. police say they are not calling mom a suspect because they don't know what happened. mom does not live with the children and the father and the dad had custody of the chil
