dispute involving truck drivers who deliver fuel to bay area gas stations. ktvu's janine de la vega is down there this morning. she's been talking with the driver and coming up in two minutes. she's gonna tell us how this dispute could eventually affect us the next time we go to fill up the car. good morning. welcome to "mornings on 2." i'm pam cook in for tori campbell. >> i know. >> yeah. >> i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. steve, the skies look weird outside. [laughter] >> meteorological term, dave. >> weird. >> i think it means a lot of low clouds for some, not for all. it will be sunny to mostly sunny. low cloud deck. looks like a ridge of high pressure may be taking it to the north. san mateo, santa cruz coastline 50s on the temperatures. low to mid. everyone is close here. temperatures still not bouncing off those morning lows yet.

by the coast, 60s, 70s around the bay. 80s. 90s inland. it's a summertime pattern. here's sal. steve, somewhat surprising. everyone's kind of back and at it on a monday. i thought there would be fewer people on the road. we already have drive times that are up nearly double what they normally are. the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze, 31-minute drive time. averaging only about 37 miles an hour for the trip between the carquinez bridge on 80 and the macarthur maze westbound. when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see a 35 to 40-minute drive time between where you stop and by the time you get into san francisco, you will have 40 minutes that have gone by. there are no major problems on the bridge.

we kept looking. we didn't find anything. san mateo and dumbarton bridge traffic looking moderate. a little bit of slow traffic approaching the san mateo bridge. 880 looks good. 580 in livermore valley has been slow but 24 still looks good. let's go back to the desk. a new development in the labor dispute involving drivers who deliver gas to stations. janine de la vega has been following the stoifer since 5:00 this morning. and janine has a look at the look at the truck drivers and how things have changed during the past hour. >> reporter: well, yeah. first thing this morning, truck drivers did show up at the fueling station and were refusing to load up gas and deliver. but it seems like a lot of them have caved to pressure from their booses and have gone back to work. you can see some of them there with their trucks in the distance. now, they walked out, starting at about 4:00 this morning. they showed up at kinder morgan where they could normally pick

up fuel for the day and they stood outside instead of delivering gas. they don't work for the gas stations. they work for carriers and trucking companies used to deliver the fuels. they are not unionized but say they had to do something to show their frustration because they haven't gotten a pay raise in several years. most make around $25 an hour. they say it's less than a driver who hauls garbage. they carry a flammable liquid. i'm joined by one of the truck drivers who stayed out here. what happened? this seems like it's fallen apart, right? >> yes, it definitely fell apart. i think people fell to the pressure. everybody has to feed their family. nobody can stay off work too long. initially we just wanted to get the ball rolling and now that our voice has been out here, that was a huge accomplishment for us up to this point and maybe the labor board will take

a look at the drivers out here not getting paid overtime and maybe they weren't aware of it in the past. now they are. we're just gonna keep on going from here and do the best we can and try to get the compensation package we need. >> reporter: at first you said this was just gonna be happening in the bay area. you hoped more truck drivers would show up and it might go on indefinitely. will drivers still show up for work tomorrow, do you think? >> it appears it will be a one- day thing. you can tell that everybody's pretty much gone for the day and yeah, it will be done for the day. >> reporter: okay. we'll continue to monitor it. we've been getting word that now it is a possibility that some of these truck drivers are now interested in looking at forming a union. again, it's still in the early stages. but they certainly wanted to get the attention of their bosses to let them know they are not getting compensated enough according to them. reporting live from san jose,

janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. the union contract that covers 20,000 workers at all of the major west coast parties including oakland, richmond and benicia expires one week from today. those ports handle nearly $900 billion worth of cargo. both sides won't come up with a new agreement until the current contract expires. in 2002, a strike shut down the ports for ten days. economists say the impact from that strike was $10 billion. 7:06. a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in sonoma county. three others were injured at a house party in sonoma county. shots were reported at a home in windsor about 1:00 yesterday morning. it's at the corner of windsor and windsor river road. the four victims, two minors and two adults, they were rushed to the hospital. two were shot in the leg. another says a bullet actually went through his hand. but the 15-year-old was shot in the chest and later died at the

hospital. >> my best friend. somebody that was really close. a good kid. >> reporter: tj perez, of the people shot, doesn't know the shotter. the other shooter, an african- american man who got into a blue nissan driven by a woman. there might have been two other passengers in the car. if you have information, call the sonoma county sheriff's deputies. the investigation goes onto the latest grass fire linked to a home in san rafael. it started near concerner boulevard and shore -- kerner boulevard shoreline. it was right where two other grass fires broke out. firefighters have linked all of the recent fires to people living in a nearby homeless camp. they are pla planning to get rid -- planning to get rid of

the gas and get of the fire. investigators are investigating a house fire in concord. this started on detroit avenue. no one was hurt. but investigators say that house is a total loss. the flames caused minor damage to the neighbors' homes. happening today -- a popular elementary schoolteacher is going on trial. tara moriarty is live at the contra costa courthouse. we're hearing a lot of victims are coming forward in this case. >> reporter: that's right. 14 of them to be exact. because of the high number, joseph martin could face life in prison if found guilty the . he was a schoolteacher and we know he's accused of molesting students over a seven-year stretch. he's looking at 150 felony counts of child molestation. his lawyer says it was a very minor type of it patting and touching on the collar bone with no sexual intent. but in the criminal complaint,

the students said he would massage them and fondle them. all of these molestations took place on victims with the victims' ages ranging from 11 to 17. recordedly all but one were boys. martin was a very well-liked teacher in the mt. diablo district since 1991. but many say the district failed the students in this case and that's martin's bosses possibly did not report child abuse suspicions and gave him a list of restrictions on how he could teach and interact with students. prosecutors say because of the statute of limitations that expired, it was out of their control. opening arguments begin at 9:00 this morning. we're live in martinez, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. 7:09. the bay area is being overrun by disabled parking placards. some people, including the disabled, they want a change. the survey by the san francisco municipal transportation agency finds, as of last november, more than 60,000 disabled

placards have been issued in the city. an extra 453,000 were issued in other bay area counties. critics say letting people who have the placards park at meters for free invites misuse. now there is a plan to make people who hold the disabled placards pay for parking. supporters of that idea are planning to take the argument to the state capitol. 2 investigates will air a special report tonight on those abusing the system. eric rasmussen followed officers as they questioned people about having placards. you can catch that story tonight on the 5:00 news right here on ktvu. with just a week left in the current term, the supreme court will issue decisions on three days. there are eight big cases. the first decisions could be issued today. one of the most closely watched cases looks at the legality of

welcome back. 7:15. american army sergeant bowe bergdahl, he's been moved to an outpatient care facility at a texas military base. the 28-year-old soldier was released from the taliban in afghanistan last month after being held captive five years. the army says he's getting more exposure to people. he's gradually increasing his social interactions. still not clear if he's had

contact with his family. federal authorities have canceled plans to fly 300 undocumented immigrants from texas to southern california. the two flights were scheduled for today but last night, the flights were called off without any explanation. now, texas is dealing with a surge of central american immigrants, many of them children. the government has been looking for a place to detain them because border facilities are not designed for families. a study out of stanford university says california could save about $1.4 billion a year by shifting hundreds of thousands of state and local government workers to less expensive insurance under the new healthcare law. but labor unions dispute the results of the study and vow to fight any change to employment coverage. family members and friends of a motorcyclist killed on a busy san jose road are trying to raise money for his funeral. the 39-year-old was riding his motorcycle on berry esa road near commercial street in san

jose. investigators say a big rig driver making an illegal u-turn on berryessa hit him and pinned him under the truck and he later died. his mother said she can't even describe her pain. >> my heart just ripped in two and i can't tell you how devastating that was for me. >> now, guerrero did not have life insurance. tonight the family is holding a fund-raiser at jack's, his favorite hang out place, to help raise money. he's survived by two daughters and a 1-year-old grandson. a small typo on a parking sign in los angeles. the city recently installed a one-minute parking sign on san vicente boulevard. the restriction in plate monday through saturday from -- place monday through saturday and

[laughter] hey, sal, everybody banking for you out there? >> so far. i've been looking around to see if there's something i am missing because traffic is so slow. i think a lot of people are back to work on this monday. let's take a look at the bay bridge. we do have traffic in the middle lanes. it's getting better. but 88 on the ramp -- 88 on the ramp is slow. san mateo bridge, not that much better, it's very crowded here from the toll plaza, taking about 15 minutes to get across the bridge. but you still have time to -- you still have slow traffic trying to get on the bridge itself out of hayward. this is about a 20, 25-minute drive from 880 over to foster

city. another slow commute has been 580 westbound as you drive from tracy to livermore and dublin and then 680 all the way down to fremont is slow out of pleasanton. now, it's 7:18. i don't know what happened with the maps. into a nice background, steve -- a nice background, steve. let's go to steve. [laughter] we have a lot of low clouds in place but not to the north. sonoma coast looks like it's mostly fog-free and hit and miss on the marin coast and sold out for much of the san mateo and the santa cruz coastline. it looks like high pressure trying to knock it down to the north. i think it will take care of it. it's kind of more parallel. there's some that's moved locally inland. mark in pleasant hill said fog. inland will burn off soon. 50s on the temperatures. mainly low to mid. a couple of 40s. fill roy is 54.

welcome back to "mornings on 2." this morning fire investigators at disneyland are trying to figure out what sparked a fire. that fire started on a loading dock in the back of the park. fire crews were able to put it out within about 20 minutes. but plumes of smoke were visible from various parts of the park, including sleeping beauty castle and toon town. no injuries are reported. the bay area's own jeff gordon came close but not close enough to win this year's nascar race in sonoma.

>> carl edwards is the winner at sonoma. >> instead, it was that man, carl edwards. he ended hendrick motorsports winning streak. the points leader came in second. gordon grew up in vallejo. he has been a crowd favorite. this event brings about 100,000 people to sonoma raceway every year. >> it's great. it's fun for the bay area. >> that race is good for businesses in the area. but there have been complaints about more traffic because of it. this year, the raceway hired 350 additional chp officers to direct traffic. an 8-month-old puppy born with severe deformities is melting the hearts of thousands of people. this is a picture of pig. her spine is 7 inches shorter than a normal dog and wavy with many bones fused together.

here's sal. steve, good morning. we're still looking at a bunch of slow traffic on this monday. the bay bridge is the slow spot. we have a 40-minute drive time and 880 is not an approach i would destin. if you are driving northbound 880, it's very slow as well. you can wait around a little bit. but it doesn't show signs of getting better around 8:30. hopefully it will be better the next time we see it. i doubt it. 880 northbound, and southbound, traffic looks good. five-minute drive to the airport. we have a lot of slow traffic from 205 into dublin and 680 is slow heading south. no problem 101 near san mateo except for slowing near 92. 7:31. back to the desk. well, this morning people are leaving flowers at an intersection where a man was hit and killed by a vta train. it happened at stoke street and

southwest expressway. ktvu channel 2 reporter brian flores is there now with whether there is a connection to another death that happened there earlier this year. brian? >> reporter: hi, pam. good morning. officials say that san jose police leading that investigation. what exactly happened last night. there is a memorial in the background behind me. a couple of candles there. flowers at well. as we take a look at the intersection, southwest expressway and stoke street where a man was hit and killed by a vta train last night. officials say it happened about 9:00 last night again at this intersection, officials say the man was apparently trying to chase his dog when he was hit and killed by an oncoming train. we don't know the name. some candles identify his first name as michael. we spoke with vta as well. we don't know the condition of the dog this morning. but what we do know is the southbound winchester train was going about 40 miles an hour last the night around 9:00.

that's typical speed according to vta. after the accident, the train was take on a vta railroad where it's being looked at by san jose police for this investigation. again, unfortunately, this is the second deadly pedestrian fatality at this same intersection this year. >> at the time of the accident, all of the crossing arms were down and the -- the bells were going off. we did have a pedestrian crossing arm there as well. >> reporter: back in mid- january, 14-year-old danica tyler garcia was hit by a vta light rail train. that incident happening at the same incident at 7:40. the freshman was riding her bike on her way to school. san jose police continue to investigate what happened. we understand as well that about 25 people were on board. there were no injuries. as you can see, again, a vta light rail train making its way down here according to vta,

this crossing arm as well as the pedestrian crossing arm were working at the time of the-- of the accident. we'll keep you updated. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. a coast guard group from san francisco came to the rescue of a racer in a rowboat. it was the second time in two days the coast guard had to represent in a race across the pacific. the most recent rescue happened early yesterday morning about 50 miles off the coast of morro bay on the central coast. now, this is coast guard video of the dramatic rescue of 65- year-old james bauer. he was taking part in a rowing competition from monterey to hawaii when something went wrong. but the coast guard said he's an experienced rower. he was ready for any possible problems. he was traveling with a satellite phone, a personal location device and a personal radio. >> all three devices played a key role. they were very eventual to a

quick recovery. >> i think he was very relieved to get off the sea. the 15-foot seas can put a pounding on you. >> he's in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery. early saturday morning, a crew from san francisco rescued four rowers, these men here from the same race in the rough seas off san luis obispo. firefighters still battling a firefighter that started around 1:00 yesterday afternoon on the north side of highway 4. right now, it's only 60% contained. last night, some people living in the area were told to evacuate but those orders have since been lifted. one minor injury has been reported and one building was destroyed. a grass fire in sacramento county burned almost ten acres. this one started about 8:30 last night near mather airport. metro crews quickly secured three buildings threatened by

the flames. an old water treatment facility that wasn't being used was damaged by the flames. investigators still want to know the cause of that fire. tomorrow, the ntsb will release the official cause of the crash of the flight at asiana flight at sfo. they will release the findings during a hearing in washington, d.c. investigators have pointed to pilot error in the crash on july 6th, 2013 that killed three people and injured more than 200 others. they say the boeing 777 was flying lower and slower than intended when it slammed into the sea wall at the end of the runway, spun around and burst into flames. you can watch live coverage of that ntsb hearing tomorrow on the ktvu channel 2 morning news and "mornings on 2." our reporter will be there at the hearing when the asiana crash report is released. we're also gonna be streaming the hearing live on our website, ktvu.com. and we'll be posting live updates on twitter and facebook. we're learning more about the bay area pilot who died

after jumping from his plane without a parachute in livermore. friends say 63-year-old jerry parker was a vietnam war veteran and served in the middle east in afghanistan and iraq. it took him four years to build the plane he was flying saturday. it caught fire shortly after takeoff from the livermore airport. parker jumped from the burning plane falling more than 1,000 feet to his death. >> no one likes to lose a friend. you always wonder what happened and we may never actually know what happened. sometimes, you know, the wrong thing will fail at the wrong time. that's why we have accidents. >> now, kit planes or experimental planes meet the same standards. pilots are required to wear parachutes but only when the plane is performing aerobatics. 7:37. happening today, the california public utilities commission due

to give us an update of whether people are doing enough to conserve water. they will tell us about water levels within the hetch hetchy water system. it fly supplies water to 2 million people in the bay area. the possibility of mandatory water rashenning will be talked about -- rationing will be talked about. notices were sent to the 2.6 million water customers asking them to voluntary reduce water uses by 10%. at first the agency says it didn't see a significant reduction but then it sent out letters saying a 20% mandatory cut could be imposed. that's when people started using less water. governor jerry brown taking a stand on public beach access in california. last week, the governor signed a bill allowing state coastal commission to fine property owners who block the beach from the public. now, according to the tribune, the commission has not had the authority to do this since this was created in 1976. the new power comes after a

welcome back. 7:45. five people were hurt after a crash on interstate 80 in berkeley that shut down two lanes of traffic for hours. this happened just after 5:30 yesterday morning near the buchanan street exit. the chp says the driver of an rv had stopped in the right center lane for some reason and then was hit by a tow truck. debris from that crash then led to another crash. the driver of the rv was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of san francisco. 7:45. there is a new campaign warning bay area pet owners, don't leave your pets inside of a parked car on a hot day. shoppers at the diamond heights

the valley at the same time. we'll round that up. people do get upset. let's go out and start with the eastshore freeway. you can see from hercules to richmond. a lot of slow traffic there shown by the red indicators. just to see the picture here, 31 minutes, steady drive time from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze. it's been that way for the last hour or so. at least it hasn't gone up. traffic has gone up once you reach the berkeley area. we're also looking at slow traffic on the east bay on southbound 880 driving down to fremont from the tennyson road exit. it's about a 25, 30-minute delay. now, then, to the south bay where almost all of the freeways are slow. 101 is a big mess into mountain view because of an earlier problem most of it is slow, we had a problem where the arrow is pointing at the 101 indicator. that crash is gone. so is 237 coming through and hence the text about it being a hot mess. let's go back to the desk.

happening today, the trial for a popular concord elementary schoolteacher accused of child molestation. the trial begins in an hour. tara moriarty joins us now from outside the courthouse in martinez with details on what the defense's strategy might be. tara? >> reporter: well, joseph martin is facing 150 counts of felony child molestation and his attorney says the large number of accusers is because of group hysteria spurred by social media. we know that martin was a teacher at -- at woodside. he's accused of molesting 14 students over a seven-year stretch starting in 2006. his lawyer said it was a very minor type of patting and touching in the collar bone area. but the criminal said he would massage students under their shirts and fondle their groins while holding a book on their

laps. all of the molestations took place on campus his attorney says that he was good at handling the children that had problems, kids with add who acted out and had other disorders. we'll see if that at all plays into this trial. opening arguments again are set for 9:00 this morning. we're live in martinez, i'm tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. a 15-year-old boy in sonoma county was shot and killed. three others were injured yesterday in a shooting at a house party. shots were reported at a home in windsor about 1:00 yesterday morning at windsor avenue and windsor river road. the four shooting victims, two minors and two adults were taken to the hospital. two of them were shot in the leg. another says the bullet actually went through his hand. the 15-year-old was shot in the chest. he died later at the hospital. my best friend took my

family member from me. a good kid. >> now, tj perez one of the shooting victims says he doesn't know the shooter. but others say the shooter is an african-american man who escaped in a small blue nissan driven by a woman. it might have been two other passengers in the car. if you have any information, call the sonoma county sheriff. the investigation continues into the latest grass fire linked to a homeless camp in san rafael. now, it started early yesterday morning near kerner and shoreline parkway. investigators say the fire bushed about a quarter acre. it was right near where two other grass fires broke out on thursday. firefighters have linked all of these recent fires to people living in a nearby homeless camp. they are now planning to do a controlled burn in the area to remove the grass and reduce the fire danger. investigators in the east bay are still looking for the cause of a fire that destroyed a home in concord. that started early yesterday morning at a home on detroit avenue. no one was hurt. but investigators say the house is a total loss.

the flames caused minor damage to the neighbors' homes. truck drivers who deliver fuel to bay area gas stations held a walkout. they were refusing to deliver gas. things have changed in the last couple of hours. ktvu's janine de la vega joining us live from san jose. you went out there with the drivers all morning. what's the late sunset. >> reporter: well, the majority of truck drivers who were out here caved to pressure fresh their bosses and went back to work. this is one of the fueling stations where they load up and then go deliver fuel to gas stations. it looks like i see maybe two trucks in there. it's not as busy as it normally is. drivers think they've made an impact. some drivers called in sick last night. others picked up their fueling truck but didn't deliver. they showed up at kinder morgan, one of the fuel holding facilities in san jose at about 4:00 this morning and stood outside in solidarity. these drivers don't wark for

the gas stations. they work for those trucking companies. they haven't gotten a pay raids in a couple of years. as the morning went on, others went back in fear of losing their jobs. others stood their ground. >> union is always a possibility. we have to do something. we're not going to give up and go away. we still gotta make at least a medium wage. we need overtime. we'll do what he we have to to get a decent wage. >> reporter: some drivers are still delivering but we're told they are only loading up fuel, whereas norm little they would haul three, four roads. that's a tactic being used to slow down the supply. it's unclear if they will have any impact on the gas supply. truck drivers don't plan to give up. it sound like they will come up with a plan possibly unionizing to make sure their voices are

francisco today $4.22. around the rest of the bay, it's about $4.10. this morning the golden gate bridge district will update the plans for a suicide barrier on the world-famous span. the project appears finally close to reality now that the district has come up with the estimated $76 million that the project is expected to cost. the details of that financing are expected to be revealed today. now, the santa rosa press democrat reports that the proposed plan now includes money from bridge tom -- tolls. the bay area is being overrun by disabled parking placards. and now some people want changes. a survey by the san francisco municipal san francisco agency finds that as of last november more than 60,000 disabled placards have been issued in the city. an extra 453,000 were issued in other bay area counties. critics say letting people who have the placards park at meters for free invites misuse.

an intersection where another person was hit and killed by a vta light rail train. it happened last night at the intersection of stoke street and southwest expressway. ktvu's brian flores has been out there all morning, you are back there now and i hear the alarms behind you. you are finding out whether there's a connection to another death that happened earlier this year. >> reporter: unfortunately, this intersection is turning pretty dangerous. a vta train will be moving through. as you see the markings on the railway as well this morning. in the distance, you can see a few candles and flowers. that's a growing memorial for a man hit and killed. it all happened last night about 9:00 at the southwest expressway and stoke street here in san jose. we just got an update from the san jose police who say they are in the preliminary stages of this investigation but they say a man was walking his dog last night when it somehow got loose and the man chased the dog into the path of an

oncoming train and the man was hit. according to san jose police, the dog was not hurt. we do know -- we don't know his name this morning. some candles left behind at the memorial identify his first name as michael. his identity will be released by the medical examiner pending notification of next of kin. they say the train was going about 40 miles an hour. this is typical speed according to vta. and after the accident, the train was taken to a vta railroad where it's being looked at pie police -- by police for investigation. this is the second deadly accident this year. >> at the time of the accident, all of the crossing arms were down and the bells were going off. we did have a pedestrian crossing arm there as well. >> reporter: now, back in midjanuary, 14-year-old danica

tyler garcia was hit and killed by a vta train. that incident happened at 7:45 in the morning. she was riding her bike at the time. she was on her way to school for a singing performance. san jose police continue to investigate what happened. we also understand that 25 people were on the train at the time. there were no injuries. san jose police say this is a 19th pedestrian fatality this year -- this is the 19th pedestrian fatality this year. brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. firefighters still battling a 90-acre fire in calaveras county. now, the fire is only 70% contained. last night some people living in the area were told to vacket but those orders -- evacuate but those orders have been lifted. one minor injury reported. one building was destroyed. a grass fire in sacramento county has burned about 10 acres. this one started about 8:30

near mather airport. fire crews quickly protected three buildings threatened by the flames. an old water treatment feam not being used -- family not being used was investigated. we're learning more about the bay area pilot who died after jumping from his plane without a parachute in livermore. friends say jerry parker was a vietnam war veteran and served in the middle east as a military contractor in afghanistan and iraq. it took him four years to build the plane he was flying on saturday. it caught fire from the livermore airport. parker jumped from the falling plane falling more than a thousand feet to his death. no one likes to lose a friend. you always wonder what happened and we may never know what happened. sometimes, you know, the wrong thing will fail and that's why we have accidents. kit planes meet the same standards as factory built

james bauer. he was taking part in a rowing competition from monterey to hawaii when something went wrong. but the coast guard says he's an experienced rower. he was ready for problems. he was traveling with a satellite phone, a personal location device and a personal radio. >> all three devices play a key role and they were very essential to a quick recovery. i think he was relieved to get off the seas. that can definitely put a pounding on you. >> bauer is in stable condition. early saturday morning a coast guard crew rescued these four rowers from the same race in the rough seas on the coast of san luis obispo. there's an update expected about whether people are doing enough to conserve water. they will review the hetch hetchy system which supplies water to more than 2 million customers in the bay area.

the possibility of rationing will also be discussed. back in january, the san francisco public utilities commission sent notices to its 2.6 million water customers asking them to voluntary reduce water use by 10%. at first, the agency said it did not see a significant reduction. then it sent out letters saying a 20% mandatory cut could be imposed and that's when people started using less water. dennis herrera has issued a cease and desist for an app called monkey parking. it allows parking space actions. but a police code prohibits people from buying, selling or leasing public parking. he's give the app owner until july 11th to shut down operations. otherwise, they could face a lawsuit and penalties up to $2500 per violation.

yet. truck drivers who deliver fuel to gas stations staged a walkout. they refused to deliver gas. they are not happy about their pay and other issues. a couple of hours ago, almost all of the drivers decided to go back to work. and happening today -- opening statements are due to begin in the trial of a concord elementary schoolteacher accused of molesting several students. the trial starts in just about 15 minutes from now. ktvu's tara moriarty joining us live at the courthouse with more on all of the charges. there are a lot of them against joseph martin. >> reporter: if convicted, martin could face life in prison that's because of the number of victim whose have -- who have come forward in this case. we know he used to teach fourth and fifth grade atwood side elementary school. he's accused of molesting 14 students over a seven-year stretch starting in 2006. that means 150 felony counts of

over the weekend, they found the dog. found it in the parking lot where herdman left his car. >> exhausted. i saw the dog. it was literally passed out in the lap of my sister. >> the dog was dehydrated and hungry. but it will be okay. officials also announced, they are gonna scale back the search efforts. family members say even though that area is very rugged. herdman is a skilled outdoorsman, they are hanging onto hope he's still alive. there is a new campaign to warn bay area pet owners, don't leave pets inside parked cars. shoppers art the diamond heights shopping center in san francisco will soon see stin sills on parking spaces that say, too hot for spot. peta says even with the window cracked open a little bit, temperatures inside the car can quickly reach 100 degrees and it ka haas heat stroke and kill a dog in just a few minutes.
