safely. >> it was a frantic few minutes as neighbors rushed knocking on coors and windows trying to alert the residents in that building. no one was inside and four units were lost inside that building firefighters say this could have been much worse. >> neighbors on the drive watched in horror as the flames lept from one unit to the next. >> it spread 15 minutes all four were on fire. >> he rushed across the street knocking on each door to make sure they were safe. luckily no one was home. >> a lot of adrenaline. i went over there made sure everything was okay and the firefighters came right away. >> a metal roof made it tricky but crews got the upper hand and evacuated. >> buildings on either side have not been effected. we made sure the explosives were protected. >> the complex consists of 608

condos. the management has been having a difficult time reaching the tenant. >> she could reach two out of four people so where they come home it's going to be something else. >> crews believe this fire started in one of the lower units but do not yet know the cause and one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was treated here at the scene but chose to stay and keep working. fire crews do have the streets blocked off so one of the challenges with getting the fire equipment in to reach the scene so they have it blocked off while they clean up. fire investigators should be arriving and should have more information in the coming days. live in san jose ann reuben. a crane broke and killed two construction workers wasn't certified and should should not have been in use. the two workers fell from the basket on the crane while

building a bridge last month. they found the certification from the crane expired the day before. so far no citations have been issued to the crane operator dollars. the a final report of the accident is still months away. a bill that banned student success fees has moved one accept further. student success fees are imposed by individual campuses and presidents. in the past it was used for construction of a new student center. the education committee has approved the bill and can increase the cost of students by up to $2,000. >> recently they call student success fees success for whom i'm not sure but none the less campuses have begun to increase them and over half have these fees. >> san jose state considered implementing but backed down after students objected. three infants have died

from whooping cough and the number of cases is rising to 4500 this year. that's an increase of 1100. vaccines are the way to stop it. the race of the bay area cases are seen and napa county has 106 and 156 in the county. the jury in the civil trial has gone dollars home without a decision after it's first full day. the family is suing the dodgers and former team owner in l.a. to be about $50 million to cover medical cost and damages. the court argues the two men serving time on the assault that took place outside the state stadium. he says they are solely responsible. fireworks uncovered by the illegal fireworks got into the bay area and the easy way

2500 pounds of illegal fireworks were confiscated from two vehicles in pittsburgh. three men arrested. the fireworks were bought in indiana and brought here to sell for $100,000. the sellers threw an ad on craig's list and police set-up a meeting. other sellers began pulling their ads off of craig's list. firefighters are issuing a warning about the dangers of illegal fireworks. the drought makes things fire prone this year and though it may be very pretty illegal fireworks could easily and very quickly spark a house or grass fire. safe fireworks go on sale tomorrow in some bay area cities but they are only legal in those cities. you cannot set them off in oakland or other cities even though they are considered safe and sane. golden gate officials approved a suede barrier on the icon quick bridge.

warm up. temperatures came up a couple degrees warmer still. 85 in fairfield. 85 in and 85 in rivermore. temperatures tomorrow upper 7080s and then sunday and monday the 90s start to show up. weather systems raining north of cape the last few days and even a few sprinkles here but that is all ending. 81 and the winds are pray brisk on shore and fog is going to be there nice be nights and mornings and tomorrow morning pretty far inland and the temperatures in the coastal areas warming a little bit but not as much in the central valley but the fog has less of a push in the inland bay valleys warm and heat up quite effectively and efficiently so temperatures in the valleys are going to be up there. take a look at temperatures.

livermoore on 85 degrees. san jose so sunday is the warmest day on your bay weekend. monday warmer still but it's monday it doesn't have the same impact. sunday is you want to be the heat. as you know this time of year this is the thing we watch out for. higher fire danger sunday through monday. as we go through the period the humidity is going to drop to 25% and winds north. i don't know about fire advisory but just be forewarned through sunday and monday fire danger will rach yet up so we keep an eye on that too. the forecast for fog the fog product and as the fog burns off quickly temperatures warm and they do start to come this way but they don't make it all the way. they are going to be in on the eastern fringes with fog right along the coast where it will be cool all day.
