>> it's burning between calistoga and lake berry, and we are live from napa county. >> we are at the command center for the fire, this is as close as we can get to butts canyon, this is where the fire is burning. that charred hillside is that's where the fire started at noon today. you can see if you look up the hill, there's still smoke and it's still burning, there's still some flames and the other side of the hillside is where the damage is. the latest update is this fire burned 2,500 saeshgz so -- acres so far. 200 homes in the subdivision were order today evacuate around 1927 this afternoon -- 3:00, this afternoon, and everyone was able to get out in time. the 50 people still in the subdivision they are sheltering

in place. the division chief said he's confident they're safe, the fire crews were able to create fuel breaks around the homes. and overall this is a tough fire fight and so far they believe that three buildings have burned, but they're not sure if they're homes, and adding to the challenges, the division chief says the direction of the wind has started to change. >> right now we're looking at 2,500 acres and 30% con daned. -- contained the winds are transitioning, we have winds change in different directions. >> how does that affects the fire fight? >> it makes it more difficult to plan ahead. and right now we're focusing on life safety and the estate area. we've done a mandatory evacuation, there's 180 homes in the estate area, they've been advised and have evacuation

lake county. for the most part, the winds are from the south and some of that smoke drifting in that direction. and from cal fire, the winds are variable, they could be lingering and moving in any direction, if you smell smoke, a great idea to close the windows. the light winds a plus for the fire, because it doesn't start new fires and it helps to not spread so fast. on the flip side it means the smoke lingers longer. to the south of the fire, tourists in napa valley and residents there were surprised to see a wild fire burn on the horizon. >> i'm visiting from new york, and i saw that on the way n it looked like a cloud on the mountain, and now on those a little different. >> in you can't smell the fire,

. a man suspected of driving under the influence crashed under an infancy and slammed -- fence, and slammed inside a house. three people were inside the home but were not hurt the driver suffered minor injuries and arrested. the police are looking for a
