four people were hurt. firefighters mopped up and looked for hot spots. they expect full containment tomorrow. the cause of both fires is unknown. we are learning more about an arrest we told you about yesterday involving a man who tried to lure girls into pornnography at the ahmed abu -- pornography at the alameda county fair. he gave her a card that showed topless women with the words big pimp in ink and a phone number. she was a -- he was a contracted employee at the fair and he has an extensive criminal record. he is being held at the jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. she expected to appear in court tomorrow. restaurant is in ruins after an early morning fire. manresa restaurant is well known in the bay area and

beyond. ktvu's rob roth has been talking to investigators and rob is there now live. rob? >> reporter: right, the fire broke out on the side of the manresa restaurant. you can see how charred it is. there is smoke and water damage in the kitchen but no fire damage. >> the owner and chef of manresa restaurant toured the restaurant this afternoon. the same restaurant that received critical acclaim from around the world. he had been out of town and returned after receiving word of what happened. somebody spotted the fire about 4:00 a.m. this morning and called in. the fire station was close by. it burned bright. >> they had a lot of plastic trays and storage containers. all that is good fuel for fire. >> the restaurant has been closed for cleaning and was scheduled to reopen wednesday.

keep the road open construction is expected to take 10 months longer. airport security screeners are seeing an increase in the number of passengers carrying a weapon. credit card knives and they are designed to take up the same amount of space as a credit card. they fold out as you see here. they are not allowed on airplanes but according it the airlines the tsa confiscated 500 of the knives this year. 20 of them came from san francisco international airport. >> sounds kind of dangerous because, i mean, pretty much everybody has credit cards so that seems like something that could be a problem. >> the tsa says it is unclear as to why there is an increase in the knives being found and it could be people are just forgetting they have them. the chp is accepting applications for new officers.

mourning the death of a veteran lifeguard who died while trying to rescue a swimmer. he went into the water yesterday to save a swimmer. a large wave hit the pair and he disappeared. the swimmer made it to sure but it took three hours to find him. >> he was a well respected individual. always a nice guy. always there to help somebody. he would give his shirt at any time. just a tragedy to lose a man of that caliber. >> an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of his death. he has been a lifeguard for 15 years. this was the first time in 100 years newport beach lost a lifeguard. a grandfather sentenced in a tragic crime. his grandson malled and killed by his grandson. >> and a fire agency stretched

a new poll out today finds a divide when it comes to california residents and their use of the internet. researchers spoke to 2,000 residents 18 and older and over all 86% of them are online. compare that to 70% back in 2008. the poll found more online usage with more educated residents. 51% without a diploma use the

new at 5:00 p.m. while other fire agencies are relieved the 4 4th of july fire danger is over. one says they are not out of danger yet. crews responded to 275 wildfire last week alone. since january 1, 3,000 wildfires. 900 above average. fire districts that sent crews to help say this fire season is beginning to have an impact on their ability to prepare for big fires here. no one is feeling it more than contra costa county. that is where budget cuts a quarter of the normal staffing levels. ktvu's john fowler is live with

ktvu's tom vacar investigated the problems with the schools going back 7 years. you are live from san francisco the site of one of the colleges. >> reporter: yeah. where there have been many unhappy students to say the least. when they are sold thousands of california students are in a state of limbo with the school still open but how long unknown. >> reporter: they appear to be doing business as usual today but no one was willing to do an interview. people say they have friends or relatives who attend and students complay of high costs and -- complain of high costs and lack of services. a san francisco based attorney who represents trade school students say students run up enormous debt. >> the student is obligated to repay the loan. the only party that gets the

money free and clear is the school. >> reporter: what about teaching? >> the schools are not accountable. they get accredited but they have little power to do much and they don't have a lot of accountability themselves. >> schools are protected from federal law from class action lawsuits making lawsuits difficult. but the cost of all the poor outcomes as well as increasing public and political anger have become such embarrassment to regulators action had to be taken. >> i would say -- [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: besides facing the u.s. department of education sanctions and other agency investigations, california's attorney general and other states sued as well as share holders and students. the company stock, 10 years ago

was $33. closed at 22-cent today. tom vacar, ktvu channel 2 news. a man was arrested today on suspicion of child molestation accused of sneaking into a child's bedroom. police say the 22-year-old broke into a home after 1:00 a.m. this morning. investigators say he actually got into the bed with an 11- year-old girl who started screaming. then a couple hours later police responded to reports of a prowler and arrested him. he was booked into contra costa county jail in martinez on $160,000 bail. it has been quite a clean up job for volunteers at lake tahoe picking up trash after the 4th of july fireworks. an army of volunteers scoured 5 beaches along three miles of shoreline on saturday and what they collected was 2300 pounds
