shower. fog or low clouds fair. i say that there are fair clouds. here is sal. steve, good morning. we are looking at the commute now and traffic is going to be busy at the bay bridge toll plaza. we do have a backup here and the traffic is going to be backed up for about a 10-15 minute delay. no major problems as you drive through. now if you are driving on san mateo bridge, traffic there looks good. it's about a 15 minute drive into san francisco with no -- i'm sorry on to the peninsula with no major problems. if you are trying to get to san francisco on 101 or to the airport perhaps, 101 is doing well. let's take a look at oakland and getting into oakland, the traffic continues to move along very nicely all the way up to downtown oakland. the road sensors all showing green as you get to downtown. let's go back to the desk. new this morning a small fire at the oakland airport just before 3:30 this morning. a pile of wood and cardboard

used for construction caught fire near the baggage claim area. a section of the wall was singed and sheriffs deputies detained one man for questioning. an airport worker says the man was homeless and tried to get away on a bus. no was one injured and it's not eventing flights this morning. alex savidge will have a live report from the airport at 6:30. the heated rivalry between the a's and giants got too heated. brian flores sat at & t park that left one woman unconscious and police now searching for suspects. brian. >> we know the fight happened about an hour or two after the giants-a's game yesterday. we understand there was some type of argument that led up to the fight among the people that were involved. one woman was knocked unconscious as a result of the melee. this is a live look at second and king streets as well as at & t park. we understand the fight started at 5:50 p.m..

san francisco police say two men got into an argument with a man and woman. we don't know what they were arguing about. one man punched another man in the face. he ended up having chipped teeth. he was treated a the the scene. but the woman was punched in the face and knock the unconscious after she tried to break up the fight. she was taken to sf general for serious injuries. we don't have an update on her condition. when you hear about fights near a ballpark it brings up the thoughts of bryan stow. on wednesday a jury awarded $18 million in damages to bryan stow. the jurors ruled poor stadium security was the result of the fight there are leaved to be 30- 35 years old. one is believed to be african american, the other hispanic and it remains unclear exactly

how they got away. live in san francisco brian flores ktvu channel 2 news. a woman accused of killing a google executive may face charges in a separate death investigation in georgia. >> why you think it's an overdose? >> because that is -- there is nothing else it could be. >> alex tickleman called 911 in georgia top report that her boyfriend overdosed on heroin. 53-year-old dean died from a mixture of heroin, oxycodone and alcohol. heroin also killed google executive forest hayes on his yacht. georgia police are reopening their case because of the similarities. >> we are going to go back and look at it and make sure that everything that we determine to

be correct almost a year ago is still factual. >> the california investigators say tickleman searched online for information about how to legally defend herself after giving a lethal dose of heroin. tickleman right now is charged with manslaughter in santa cruz but prosecutors are considering elevating the charge to second degree murder. tickleman and the google executive met through the online dating website seekingarrangement.com. and she told investigators she is a prostitute. that website released a statement saying it does not allow prostitution and we are shocked to learn of this tragedy and we'd like to convey our deepest sympathies to mr. hayes' family. this is the latest example of the growing drug problem in the mountain view valley.

the internet allows anonymous websites to pop up and discreetly pairs sex workers with customers. they say the chances of being found out and arrested are much lower. people living in a homeless camp over a freeway overpass will get to stay at that site a little longer. the city declared the site a public nuance and gave them until tuesday to clear out. the decision came after city officials learned the people living in the camp are working with city agencies to find places to go. san francisco supervisor david campos vowing to fight to prevent a senior assisted living home to close its doors. they have offered low income seniors a place to live for the last 130 year. but it has run into financial trouble and the building was sold to a private school for $5.7 million last week. 27 people in their 80s and 90s

have been given eviction notices. and campos says he is prepared to file a lawsuit top stop that closure. happening right now parents are camping outside of a san jose charity making sure their kids get school supplies they need. ktvu janine de la vega is joining us live now from san jose to tell us why the need for under privileged children is greater than ever. good morning. good morning, dave -- >> reporter: good morning, dave. i want to show you what this line looks like. i'm told the first person camped out here at 10:30 last night. some of them brought they're lawn chairs. other people are actually just here on the sidewalk on the cement lying on the ground. there is some children out here too. this is very important for them to come out here because backpacks and supplies are expensive. about $75. that is to fill up a backpack. and that is nearly a full days pay for a minimum wage worker.

this is sentencing day for 20-year-old jay williams of zap jose. he was convicted in the thrill kill death of a high school classmate. here is video of jay williams in 2009 during his first court appearance. he was 15 years old. williams could get life in prison for the deadly stabbing of michael russell. investigators city williams and a friend killed russell for the thrill of it.

his friend is facing a separate trial that will begin this month. house speaker john boehner is moving forward with plans to sue president obama. the lawsuit focuses on the president's decision to give businesses an extra year to comply with the requirement to offer their employees insurance under the new health care plan. now boehner says that by law the president feeds a vote of congress to do that. and president obama calls the lawsuit a political stunt by republicans. >> i've got a better idea. do something. if you are mad at me for helping people on my own, let's team up. let's pass some bills. >> what we are talking about here are place where the president is rewriting law to make it fit his own needs. >> the house rules committee has disfiled a ruling next -- has filed a ruling next week.

the united nations scheduled today's meeting even before the current immigration crisis on the u.s. border. officials from the united states, mexico, and central america are attending. the u.n. high commissioner for refugees called this meeting to update a 30 year declaration a 30-year-old declaration on the obligation that nations have to help refugees. the u.n. is encouraging the u.s. to look at least some of the central american imgrants as refugees because of the violence in their home countries. meantime the u.s. border patrol says it will no longer fly plane loads of immigrants from texas to san diego to be processed. the border patrol says recent antiimmigration protests in murrieta had nothing to do with this decision. instead, they are saying it has reduced the backlog of immigrants in texas and therefore they will be able to

process them at facilities right there. san francisco upgrading parking meters and the changes could help drivers avoid tickets. both drivers and businesses welcome the change. >> because it costs so much in having to come up with a pocket full of change and having to have $3-$4 worth of change. >> another major upgrade if you pay by phone, the new meters will update your transaction on the screen. with the old meters the screen would show as expired. they plan to swap out all 27,000 meters city-wide by early next year. the cost is $15 million. and sal, you probably know this. just to warn people if you haven't done this before. i thought oh great i can pay with my phone. it takes some time. you have to set up this whole account. >> once you do it the first time it's easier the next time.

now that the meters have credit cards, that is pretty easy. that is pretty fast. of course i still have a pocket full of quarters because i've been scared forever by san francisco parking. see these are quarters. thank you. that is called active television. let's take a look at commute now. about a 15-20 minute drive time into san francisco. no major problems. we seem to be having a little bit of a lighter commute. but not here. it's slightly lighter than usual and sometimes the backup is even more. let's move along and take a look at the 237 commute. that is definitely better than normal. and you can drive over to sunnyvale without any problems. some people use the dumbarton bridge in the area as well. dumbarton bridge is looking good across the east palo alto. as we get there, you can see the traffic is still doing well on highway 101 and highway 280.

the combination of the two feeding in a lot of that tropical cloud deck. there is another tropical storm in the western pacific. i should add this. they just had the typhoon go into japan. there is another one west of the philippines. it is very active. that pairs watch as a lot of that recurves. so just food for thought. 60s and 70s and 80s on the temps. most of these are below average inland. they are near average coast and bay. it may be warmer imland. wells fargo reported second quarter earnings. the san francisco based bank reported $5.73 billion. that is up $210 million. it also comes as revenues fall. wells fargo the largest mortgage lender in the country and closely watched as the belle weather of the banking industry. elon musk is donating money

oakland international airport during a fire at one of the terminals. in fact, there is still a large burn spot on one of the interior walls. alex savidge is live at the airport now. alex, as you come back the flights there, they are still going on as scheduled. >> reporter: dave, good morning. this has to be unnerving for those that were at the airport this morning. net let me show -- let me show you what was burning. it was this pile of wood and card board. and this pile of construction materials originally was right here inside near the baggage claim area in terminal one. you can see a burn park there on the wall. no one hurt and the fire was quickly contained. but there was one person who was detained in connection with this fire. we saw that person in the back of a sheriffs patrol car. this was all at 3:30 this morning. a sergeant out here at the scene told me that man will be questioned about this fire. a witness that was here at the

time told me the man in custody appeared to be homeless and he says he saw that man run over after the fire was set or the materials caught fire. he saw this man run over and tried to board a bus to get away. but sheriffs deputies stopped him and took him into custody. we are looking to get more information on who this man is and what if any charges he will be facing. the witness that was here tells me the fire aalmosts did go off inside terminal one and people did evacuate the building. should point out as well we checked in with airport officials this morning, they tell me this small fire here did not impact any of the operations or flights here at the airport. live in oakland alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. an early morning fire in san leandro injured two people. one of them with severe burns. it happened just before 1:00 a.m. at an apartment building on 159th avenue not far from

interstate 580. investigators think a cooking accident on a stove started the fire. the damage was mainly in the kitchen. the burn victim was taken to a hospital in san francisco with first, second, and third degree burns. the other person suffered smoke inhalation. two animals in the apartment a cat and dog were also hurt. they were taken to a local vet. a woman is dead, two others hurt after two separate shootings within an hour in oakland. the first happened at 8:45 last night. police say a man and woman were shot. the woman died at the hospital. and then at 9:35 another shooting was reported on 32nd street. police say a male juvenile was shot there and now in stable condition at the hospital. no arrests have been made in either shooting. time is 6:35. one man still on the loose this morning. another one is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after a shootout during a jewelry store robbery in santa rosa. it happened just after 1:30

yesterday afternoon at bennett valley jewelers. witnesses say two men burst in there and shot the store manager in the arm. the shop owner then chased after the men shooting at them. one was captured and held down by an off duty police officer but the other man got away. >> i feel bad for anybody in the store that had to experience this. it's horrible. >> now the store owner shot at other armed robbers last summer. he believes his shop is targeted because it's the only certified rolex dillinger sonoma county and says the watches are easy to get rid of. the store may now install security doors to buzz customers in and out. that wounded store manager we're told will be okay while investigators think the suspect who got away may have left the area. there are now calls for richmond's vice mayor to resign after her heated exchanges with members of the community. ktvu news obtained cell phone video of one of those

stronger, there is still a strong need. people are struggling to find jobs. they are out of work. and those that do have jobs are still having a hard time paying the rent and their bills. and because of the high cost of living. there is about 60 moms, dads, and kids waiting to register and receive a free backpack. this is video from last years giveaway at sacred heart community services. this agency has been giving away backpacks and supplies for 12 years. the goal this year is to collect 2800 backpacks so they need help with people donating. today is the day that parents are registering to receive the backpack and supplies. the nonprofit agency says it's important for low income children to be prepared because they already -- and priced out of better performing school attributes. it helps boost their self- esteem and not have to worry about going without basic school supplies. >> you are always concerned

looking in my rearview mirror and i see all of these cars getting hit by the truck. i'm thinking to myself i've got to brace myself because i'm going to get hit. >> all lanes of highway 17 in los gatos are back open this morning. that is after that horrible deadly accident involving a big rig and at least ten cars. it had to be shut down for most of the day yesterday. a 26-year-old man from santa cruz were killed. seven people were take ton the hospital and the truck driver said he tried slamming on the brakes but just couldn't stop. th owner of the truck showed ktvu newspaper work indicating

and denver was stabbed to death. let's take you back out here live. in terms of this case, we don't know much about the suspects. only vague descriptions about san francisco police. they are described between 30- 35 years old. one is believed to be african american, the other is hispanic. it remains unclear how they got away. live in san francisco i'm brian flores ktvu channel 2 news. there is a california connection to this week's mass killing in a suburb of houston. the suspect ron haskell traveled from his home in orange county to texas to track down his ex-wife. he forced his way into a house where his ex-wife's sister lived. but when he found out his ex- wife was not there, he tied up everyone inside and shot them execution style. the sister, her husband, and four of their children were killed. the lone survivor was a 15-year- old daughter that was grazed in the head with a bullet. time is 6:47. i want to check in with tori campbell who is in the newsroom

today. the same as yesterday. the low clouds that is enchancing a lot of that and combination of the low and high funneling up a lot of tropical clouds in the sierra and to the north. 60s on the temps. the lows have been very, very mild. not only that but everyone is pretty close. there is not much of a difference here. i think there is something wrong with fairfield. fairfield is calm this is really strange. but now you find the south wind. southeast, south at mountain view. south at sfo. south at half-moon bay. this is a really mild tropical feel. few little showers.

they are getting rain up in redding. from is plenty of moisture this year. we have red flag warnings out. they had it out earlier. 74 up in reno. for us we have big, big fog bank. it's mild for some. cool for others. after saturday the low kicks out. the high will build in from the four corners. that is the double barrel low. kind of an interesting pattern. mild and warm to the south. 60s and 70s and 80s. these are below average inland yet they are low average for most coast and bay. so it will balance out somewhere. and that inland temps will rebound over the weekend. alibaba may started the process of an initial public
