we're going to talk to katy in a bit. this is the victim's vehicle. we're going to wrap this up for you. i want to do a couple of more incidents. the san mateo bridge is okay. we got lucky with that because traffic is lighter than usual. i want to show the closest commute in the bay area and even to commute isn't better. livermore to dubland. 680 looks good. the traffic is looking good. let's circle back to that developing news. as i mentioned, a hit-and-run crash on the san mateo bridge has led to a manhunt in foster city and katie joins us. >> police are looking for men latino men. as you mentioned, the suspect's vehicle has a flat front tire and this is where it stops at the west end of the san

mateo bridge. chp officers are waiting for a tow truck. i'm told the suspects took off and possibly jumped the fence. there's not a lot around here besides office buildings and hotels. we called plaza hotel and they were notified but they haven't seen anything suspicious. the hit-and-run happened around 5:15. we show you should aerial video that news channel 2 shot. the portia has been towed off the bridge at this point and traffic is flowing across the san mateo bridge. it's flushed at points, but for the most parts, this scene is clear from the bridge except if we come back out here live, you can see the suspect's vehicle is disabled along the side of the road and chp waits for a tow truck. there has been no sight of these men suspected of this hit-and-run collision

earlier this morning, and we're going to base with chp after this live hit to get the latest on that search. we'll bring you more this morning. >> it's 7:04, a boy is recovering. he had just finished a basketball game when two groups of people started shooting at each other and alex savage is live at head quarters where officers spend hours going over that crime scene. >> that park was filled with families enjoying the summer night when the gun fire began. that 17 year old boy, an -- he was an innocent bystander. he had just finished playing bat brook park when the gunfire broke out.

it happened near high street and 580. the police blocked off the baseball diamond and you can see shell casings covering the field in that area. investigators believe two groups of people were shooting back and forth at each other. some of the shooters were in a car and the others were standing in the park and mri say the boy who was hit by the -- police say the boy that was hit was not the intended target. and with more than 20 shots fired last night, officers were amazed no one was serious hurt. >> young families and young children and families playing enjoying the beautiful weather we had today, and through no fought of their own, they get caught up in two groups of people who don't know how to resolve conflict. >> some people living by that area the area are frustrated with the violences. >> investigators do have

promising leads as they work to make arrest here. police say they found the car that were carrying some of the shooters and they found it abandoned last night. we'll certainly pass information to you when we find it out. alex savage. channel 2 news. police are investigating a late night fight where five people were beaten or stabbed. police are called on darwin men. and they found five men stabbed and beaten. one man had life-threatening injuries and officers are looking into a motive. fresh soldiers secured the site in the nation of mou wee when the plane crashed.

it disappeared from radar. it was going through a thunderstorm at the time. cnn reporting the french soldiers recovered one of the black boxes, but there were no survivors. there were 116 people on that plane. the balloonburg news service saying that malaysia airline may need a financial bail out. most of the bodies from flight 7 17, they'll arrive in the netherlands and the bodies were loaded on transport planes to eastern ukraine. there's little investigation into who shot down the plane. they said that russian hasn't allowed -- >> the human remains, we did spot human remains.

a san francisco college professor secretly accused of video taping students and the guard he used to hide the camera. a san francisco woman who rented out her vacation home is stuck with a tenant refusing to leave. the legal technicality around this rental horror story. we're getting off highway 17, traffic is light and the san mateo bridge traffic looks okay, and it's slow on the other side of the span and we'll tell you what's going on there. it's going to warm up inland and that's no bull, but by the coast there's a little bit of fog on the san mateo coast and we could have a big difference in our temperature comes up.

the time is 7:15. two people were hurt at the fire after jumping off a second story balcony to get away from the flames and the damage is estimated at more than $2 million and 35 hotel guests were moved to another hotel. it is 7:13. police say a man who shot and killed a pregnant woman said she was ransacking her home. the couple body slammed him and he was able to grab a gun and he shot the woman who yelled "i'm shoot don't pregnant." they're trying to figure out ife shot in self-defense. a key speaker has file a

complaint. he said officers through him to the ground hours after he spoke at a graduation ceremony in may. cell phone video caught some of the confrontation outside of a san mateo nightclub. he said it happens after he questioned the police officers who cited his friend for urinating in public. they issued this response, "simple and clear and reasonable commands from a police officers should be followed and it's unfortunate when it's not followed when it puts police officers and those we're sworn to protect in danger." the time is 7:15. a woman who works for a therapist for blind soldiers she may sue a man forcing him to leave her condo. she wanted to make more money by renting out her condo in palm springs.

there are wide open, and some of the middle lanes are crowded, but this is about a 15 minute drive time into san francisco. no trouble from san francisco to oakland, and if you're driving on nearby 880 through downtown oakland, it looks nice. here, we don't have a back up until the 8:00 hour, but right now it looks like it's going to be a nice commute getting out into the oakland downtown area. usually when i show you livermore, i'm saying the same thing, it's bad today. it's not that bad getting into this area of dubland and covington. let's go to steve. we have a little built of fog. there's a tiny bit along the marine headlines. i'm trying to make a push over the golden break. there's a little bit of -- santa cruise are sunny, but north and south of that, there's a ribbon of fog

7:24. officials are counter suing homeowner that's blames the county for a land slide. the homeowners filed their lawsuit last year and they said leaks in the county's water system caused the hillside be night 17 homes to give way and they said other homes nearby have also been devalued because no one wants to live there. the county's lawsuit is blaming the homeowners for damage and said she failed to manage their own landscape and irrigation system. there's a 50,000 reward offer to track the suspect on

the only thing i can say about this crash is it's not in the commute direction, but i did have someone who drove by recently and ended up calling me when they had to go to work saying it was there and it looks like it's causing a back up for a little bit. let's move along and take a look that the video. this car being hit earlier this morning about 5:15. a hit-and-run on the san mateo bridge and that caused traffic problems and four young men got off to the side of the road and then abandoned their car and ran off. the city police are looking for those men in an area of foster city. traffic on the san mateo bridge was bad, but once they got these vehicles offer the bridge, it has recovered. on the bay bridge, a 15 minute drive between oakland and san francisco. we checked in bart and muni, they're doing well. let's go back to the desk. breaking news right now,

department fire near san francisco state university and fire officials just told us a body was found in the unit. this fire started at 5:00 on the apartment building near brotherhood way and the san francisco golf club. the medical examiner is on the way right now. alex savage as there and alex will bring us more details coming up. temperatures expected to be very hot. thousands of people head for the opening day of the gill roy garlic festival and that's where jenee is there. you've been there since 4:30. i can smell it through the cameras. what are you doing to keep people cool? >> they have tents and right now i'm gourmet alley. temperatures are okay, but if i turn around, steve is a head chef.

he's cleaning up his pan and he's got calamari in there and i hear that pan gets up to 95 degrees. these chefs are used to how hot it get. the open flames are in a controlled environment, but these open flames are what firefighters are going to be watched for. temperatures are expected to hover near 100 in gill roy. firefighters are concerned about the drought like conditions so they'll be looking for anything that may spark a fire. the santa clara unit has already responded to other fires. in the garlic festival they have vehicles parked in the parking lot. organizers are -- the chefs are going to feel that heat more than ever, and here's what they do.

news we reported. a body was found inside of a high rise building that caught fire earlier this morning, and alex savage just arrived on the scene and he joins us live. alex. >>reporter: well, neighbors tels a woman who was killed in this early morning fire and she has lived in this building for quite some time. this fire burned through her unit which was on the first floor of this high rise building. this is on two merced drive not far from san francisco state. this fire started at 5:00 this morning and it was contained to the one apartment on on the ground floor, but firefighters said she did find one person in that unit who was killed in that fire. we'll working to get more information from the firefighter about that victim and how they died. and fire investigators will come out hear to piece together what started this fire. but fire officials are telling us that

one person was killed. we're waiting for the chief to come out and give us more information on this fire that left one person dead and we'll bring you an update. we're live in san francisco, alex savage, channel 2 news. we're following developing news, a hit-and-run crash on the san mateo bridge just a couple of hours ago. it led to a manhunt. katie utehs is joining us live. you're in red wood city. >>reporter: i spoke with chp officers and they said they're not searching the area. they were looking for four latino men suspected this this hit-and-run. one of them possibly armed with a gun. it all started around 5:15 on the san mateo bridge when the driver of the suspect's vehicle rear ended a burgundy porsche. news chopper 2 takes a look at the tow truck. you can see the victim's vehicle.

the suspect then drove on a flat front tire all the way to the west of the bridge where they then pulled over, jumped out of the car and it is presumed they jumped the fence and that area is considered pure juan at the end of the bridge. we called the hotel and they didn't see anything. within the last ten minutes, we learned about the victim in this crash. >> we were told she was transported to a local hospital complaining of injuries and she's in her early 40s and expected to be okay. and the vehicle is registered out of redwood city. it's still early, but it appears to be stolen according to chp officers. the update here is there's no longer an active search, but this is an active investigation to try to determine who the four suspects are. live in redwood city, katie utehs. thank you cheaty.

a teenage boy is recovering. and an innocent victim. two groups of people, one in a car and the other standing, shot at each at brook dale park after 7:00 last night. a stray bullet hit a teenage boy in the leg. he just finished a basketball game. while he's in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, officers say there could have been many more victims and officers found 20 bullet casings. >> people were playing basketball full of kids and adults and those who live in the neighborhood who were coming home from work at the time. >> police later found the suspect's car and they're following up on leagues. police in santa rose believes a gun found by children
