50s, low 60s, foster 60s. patrick has 63 so everyone is close there. not much of a breeze when it's less than 10 to 5 of fair breeze, but soo has a westerly breeze. a few high clouds filtering in, but overall, not much to stop us from warming up. patchy fog but parts of the way. 97 near 100 inland. >> steve, let's continue our developing news. at 5:15, there was a hit-and-run on the san mateo bridge and those in the suspect individual which was right there, took off. you can see our crew getting into position. we're just about to have a live report from the scene and the traffic on the san mateo bridge is going to be slow as they past this car with no left front tire was driving on its rims for a bit. in fact,

we're going to talk to katy in a bit. this is the victim's vehicle. we're going to wrap this up for you. i want to do a couple of more incidents. the san mateo bridge is okay. we got lucky with that because traffic is lighter than usual. i want to show the closest commute in the bay area and even to commute isn't better. livermore to dubland. 680 looks good. the traffic is looking good. let's circle back to that developing news. as i mentioned, a hit-and-run crash on the san mateo bridge has led to a manhunt in foster city and katie joins us. >> police are looking for men latino men. as you mentioned, the suspect's vehicle has a flat front tire and this is where it stops at the west end of the san

mateo bridge. chp officers are waiting for a tow truck. i'm told the suspects took off and possibly jumped the fence. there's not a lot around here besides office buildings and hotels. we called plaza hotel and they were notified but they haven't seen anything suspicious. the hit-and-run happened around 5:15. we show you should aerial video that news channel 2 shot. the portia has been towed off the bridge at this point and traffic is flowing across the san mateo bridge. it's flushed at points, but for the most parts, this scene is clear from the bridge except if we come back out here live, you can see the suspect's vehicle is disabled along the side of the road and chp waits for a tow truck. there has been no sight of these men suspected of this hit-and-run collision

earlier this morning, and we're going to base with chp after this live hit to get the latest on that search. we'll bring you more this morning. >> it's 7:04, a boy is recovering. he had just finished a basketball game when two groups of people started shooting at each other and alex savage is live at head quarters where officers spend hours going over that crime scene. >> that park was filled with families enjoying the summer night when the gun fire began. that 17 year old boy, an -- he was an innocent bystander. he had just finished playing bat brook park when the gunfire broke out.

it happened near high street and 580. the police blocked off the baseball diamond and you can see shell casings covering the field in that area. investigators believe two groups of people were shooting back and forth at each other. some of the shooters were in a car and the others were standing in the park and mri say the boy who was hit by the -- police say the boy that was hit was not the intended target. and with more than 20 shots fired last night, officers were amazed no one was serious hurt. >> young families and young children and families playing enjoying the beautiful weather we had today, and through no fought of their own, they get caught up in two groups of people who don't know how to resolve conflict. >> some people living by that area the area are frustrated with the violences. >> investigators do have

promising leads as they work to make arrest here. police say they found the car that were carrying some of the shooters and they found it abandoned last night. we'll certainly pass information to you when we find it out. alex savage. channel 2 news. police are investigating a late night fight where five people were beaten or stabbed. police are called on darwin men. and they found five men stabbed and beaten. one man had life-threatening injuries and officers are looking into a motive. fresh soldiers secured the site in the nation of mou wee when the plane crashed.

it disappeared from radar. it was going through a thunderstorm at the time. cnn reporting the french soldiers recovered one of the black boxes, but there were no survivors. there were 116 people on that plane. the balloonburg news service saying that malaysia airline may need a financial bail out. most of the bodies from flight 7 17, they'll arrive in the netherlands and the bodies were loaded on transport planes to eastern ukraine. there's little investigation into who shot down the plane. they said that russian hasn't allowed -- >> the human remains, we did spot human remains.

>> today. >> officials says it will take weeks to identify the remains. those in santa rosa believes a group of children stumbled into a loaded gun stashed from gang members. >> they were retrieving marshals that rolled under a portable building when they spotted a 12 gage shot gun and the teacher said she was not surprised. >> they're used to this stuff. they're used to hearing gunshot in this area. >> investigators call the firearm a community gun because gang members hide it. officers found a different gun near the community last year. those at the county fair will see extra police on patrol. more officers are on hand to help prevent gang violence on

nights and weekends and 60 private security guards and 18 uniformed officers will be on duty. the pharaoh fishls said the fair is paying 133,000 towards law enforcement efforts and the fair opened yesterday and will stay up through august 10th. you don't have to go all the way to spain to run with the bulls. tomorrow you can do it in the bay area. the great bull run is making its way to the almeda way. and hundreds are expected to run along a 1500 pound bull, but peda is trying to stop the event claiming animal security and it kicks off at 11:30 and it's $75 to run with the bull and $10 just to watch. >> you pay just to watch. >> exactly, just for the entertainment. >> okay tori.

a san francisco college professor secretly accused of video taping students and the guard he used to hide the camera. a san francisco woman who rented out her vacation home is stuck with a tenant refusing to leave. the legal technicality around this rental horror story. we're getting off highway 17, traffic is light and the san mateo bridge traffic looks okay, and it's slow on the other side of the span and we'll tell you what's going on there. it's going to warm up inland and that's no bull, but by the coast there's a little bit of fog on the san mateo coast and we could have a big difference in our temperature comes up.

the time is 7:15. two people were hurt at the fire after jumping off a second story balcony to get away from the flames and the damage is estimated at more than $2 million and 35 hotel guests were moved to another hotel. it is 7:13. police say a man who shot and killed a pregnant woman said she was ransacking her home. the couple body slammed him and he was able to grab a gun and he shot the woman who yelled "i'm shoot don't pregnant." they're trying to figure out ife shot in self-defense. a key speaker has file a

complaint. he said officers through him to the ground hours after he spoke at a graduation ceremony in may. cell phone video caught some of the confrontation outside of a san mateo nightclub. he said it happens after he questioned the police officers who cited his friend for urinating in public. they issued this response, "simple and clear and reasonable commands from a police officers should be followed and it's unfortunate when it's not followed when it puts police officers and those we're sworn to protect in danger." the time is 7:15. a woman who works for a therapist for blind soldiers she may sue a man forcing him to leave her condo. she wanted to make more money by renting out her condo in palm springs.

and there's a lot of fog over monterey. if you're heading to the garley festival, 99 for a high. the weather headlines, talk about possible records, the best bet, if you have to lay down a little bit is mountain view. the record is 90 in san francisco, but other than that, 90s to nearly 100s inland. concur 91. and napa 93. 86 yesterday, and 91 to 96 in san jose. there's fog there, and i know it's not doing much, but by san mateo coast, it's making an impact, but inland is getting ready to warm up and i think next hour we'll see that. we did have low 50s for some. 72 in the higher elevations east of the morgan hill, so there's warm

record is 82 in 1973. i think mountain view will be the other one. the record is 90. a couple of locations -- there's fog on the san mateo coast. parts of the santa cruise and not for all. i don't think the marine is going to last too long. 55 in foggy so highway 1, there's big fog. you said what are you talking about? there's a lot of fog and i think that will plan the -- a few tropical clouds. a few are sneaking in here. patchy fog on part of thes coast. otherwise, i don't want to show you the four panels. here's sal. >> all right steve. we're looking at the commute where traffic is affected by a new crash near highway 482. this crash is blocking lanes and the traffic is slow.

the only thing i can say about this crash is it's not in the commute direction, but i did have someone who drove by recently and ended up calling me when they had to go to work saying it was there and it looks like it's causing a back up for a little bit. let's move along and take a look that the video. this car being hit earlier this morning about 5:15. a hit-and-run on the san mateo bridge and that caused traffic problems and four young men got off to the side of the road and then abandoned their car and ran off. the city police are looking for those men in an area of foster city. traffic on the san mateo bridge was bad, but once they got these vehicles offer the bridge, it has recovered. on the bay bridge, a 15 minute drive between oakland and san francisco. we checked in bart and muni, they're doing well. let's go back to the desk. breaking news right now,

department fire near san francisco state university and fire officials just told us a body was found in the unit. this fire started at 5:00 on the apartment building near brotherhood way and the san francisco golf club. the medical examiner is on the way right now. alex savage as there and alex will bring us more details coming up. temperatures expected to be very hot. thousands of people head for the opening day of the gill roy garlic festival and that's where jenee is there. you've been there since 4:30. i can smell it through the cameras. what are you doing to keep people cool? >> they have tents and right now i'm gourmet alley. temperatures are okay, but if i turn around, steve is a head chef.

he's cleaning up his pan and he's got calamari in there and i hear that pan gets up to 95 degrees. these chefs are used to how hot it get. the open flames are in a controlled environment, but these open flames are what firefighters are going to be watched for. temperatures are expected to hover near 100 in gill roy. firefighters are concerned about the drought like conditions so they'll be looking for anything that may spark a fire. the santa clara unit has already responded to other fires. in the garlic festival they have vehicles parked in the parking lot. organizers are -- the chefs are going to feel that heat more than ever, and here's what they do.

city. on the peninsula, traffic is okay on the 101. the south bay has been descent and slowing on 101. let's look at 237. you can see for yourselves thera slowing there on the approach on 237 out of downtown. we also look at the bay bridge, traffic is backed up for a five minute delay at the toll plaza and it's a ten minute drive to san francisco. let's go to steve. >> a very good morning. most ly clear and a patch of fog. san mateo coast and parts of the santa cruz. mostly clear. some records possible today. my mountain view and san francisco. i think everyone else will come short there. napa 93. and we'll go to concord, 94 and 99. mostly sunny skies for the garlt

stival. 74 and we'll go for a high of 99. although there's a lot of fog towards monterey. there could be a huge difference. 59 in san francisco. and 72 at noon and then 80 for a high. that's close to a record high. very close. the record is 82. the record low 49 back in 19 33. so very close for this city. we'll see if we'll fall short. there's a lot of fog near monterey, but it probably won't play into our weather until tomorrow. i expect to get into 70s. we had 50s in north bay. 63 off the 59. 63 red ridge and also belmont. and it's cooler at 55. 44 in tahoe. and that's a lot of fog right there you but

it's then as you move north but it cools us off into the weekend. high clouds taking -- it's towards the southern california area. today will be the hottest day. and cooler over the weekend. it should be cooler for parts of the coast. but today temperatures definitely on the way up. 90s to 100s for some and fire dangers are up. this is just a dome of high pressure. watch how the fog comes back big here. not a lot, but it will be more than we're seeing. inland will be toasty for a couple of days. patchy fog south. but those are to the east. we'll see some off in the distance. by 70s, 80s and 90s. fairfield, 99. pittsburgh and livermore, it's t here. >> it's not bad here at the mother ship.

there's a delay on the

fremont line, and in richmond. and due to police activity at the coliseum station. no trains are running through the coliseum. one of the things that we don't know is y what's going on, which agency, is it bart police or oakland police. the trains are not running and this is causing a delay on the system. the only trains that may not be delayed are the trains coming from the concord line in and out of san francisco. this is going to have a delay on the system. even if they were to clear this police activity out, it's going to be a problem and we'll let you know when we find out. >> thank you sal. 7:54. the city of san francisco agreed to pay $15 million to the family of a woman who was run over and killed at holly park. 735 year old christine savannah was lying on the grass with her baby and dog last week when she

was run over by a city pickup truck. thomas was later arrested. he has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run. the san francisco board of supervisors must approve the settlement. the time is 7:56. city supervisors mia said it's a tragic situation that's getting out of control and she'll take her concerns to the entire board next week. she'll call for creating a special gun violence task force. her plan has the support of a lot of people who have lived in the bay view their whole lives. >> we use today have fist fight. i haven't seen a fist fight in 25 years. these kids, they settle their differences with guns. >> this violence touches all of us. >> even if we're minding our own business. >> supervisor cohen says gun

violence involves everybody and not just the police. that includes schools and community leaders and mental health workers. the third time is not the charm for a former u.s. berkeley student trying to get a diploma. his first diploma was wrinkled so he sent it back. his wife was packing the diplome saw something that caught her eye. >> i heard this big laugh from the other room, and she actually noticed that there was this typo. >> the word "communications" was misspelled. he received a few

the fruitville station. i asked the bart dispatcher if there's going to be a bart bridge and they said they can't do it because they don't have the buses to do it, so have you to use parallel service. sometime bus lines can get you through but there's no plan for a bus bridge. major delays needless to say on bart this morning. let's take a look it 280. it's almost at a stand still getting up to highway 218. there's a crash at the lawrence express way. no injuries, but traffic is blocked. it's stopped here. and the traffic is hideous. you mite want to use 101 or 85 and don't use 280. we'll find traffic is light at the toll bay bridge. let's go back to the desk. thank you sal. we begin with developing

news we reported. a body was found inside of a high rise building that caught fire earlier this morning, and alex savage just arrived on the scene and he joins us live. alex. >>reporter: well, neighbors tels a woman who was killed in this early morning fire and she has lived in this building for quite some time. this fire burned through her unit which was on the first floor of this high rise building. this is on two merced drive not far from san francisco state. this fire started at 5:00 this morning and it was contained to the one apartment on on the ground floor, but firefighters said she did find one person in that unit who was killed in that fire. we'll working to get more information from the firefighter about that victim and how they died. and fire investigators will come out hear to piece together what started this fire. but fire officials are telling us that

one person was killed. we're waiting for the chief to come out and give us more information on this fire that left one person dead and we'll bring you an update. we're live in san francisco, alex savage, channel 2 news. we're following developing news, a hit-and-run crash on the san mateo bridge just a couple of hours ago. it led to a manhunt. katie utehs is joining us live. you're in red wood city. >>reporter: i spoke with chp officers and they said they're not searching the area. they were looking for four latino men suspected this this hit-and-run. one of them possibly armed with a gun. it all started around 5:15 on the san mateo bridge when the driver of the suspect's vehicle rear ended a burgundy porsche. news chopper 2 takes a look at the tow truck. you can see the victim's vehicle.

the suspect then drove on a flat front tire all the way to the west of the bridge where they then pulled over, jumped out of the car and it is presumed they jumped the fence and that area is considered pure juan at the end of the bridge. we called the hotel and they didn't see anything. within the last ten minutes, we learned about the victim in this crash. >> we were told she was transported to a local hospital complaining of injuries and she's in her early 40s and expected to be okay. and the vehicle is registered out of redwood city. it's still early, but it appears to be stolen according to chp officers. the update here is there's no longer an active search, but this is an active investigation to try to determine who the four suspects are. live in redwood city, katie utehs. thank you cheaty.

a teenage boy is recovering. and an innocent victim. two groups of people, one in a car and the other standing, shot at each at brook dale park after 7:00 last night. a stray bullet hit a teenage boy in the leg. he just finished a basketball game. while he's in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, officers say there could have been many more victims and officers found 20 bullet casings. >> people were playing basketball full of kids and adults and those who live in the neighborhood who were coming home from work at the time. >> police later found the suspect's car and they're following up on leagues. police in santa rose believes a gun found by children

was a gun from gang members. she were retrieving the marbles when they saw that shut gun and the teacher wasn't surprised. >> they did the right thing and they're used to hearing gunshots in this area. >> investigators say this shot gun described as a community gun is hidden by gang members in a place where they can get to it. it is 8:08 and strange turn offy event -- a strange ye turn of events, a woman and her son is facing charges. they gave the

mother 68 year old snider a sobriety test, she son scooted from the passenger to the driver seat and took off. some red paint will be added in san francisco. the transportation agency says the paint is intended to keep private drivers, private car drivers out of the transit only lanes. the paint will be added between 5th and 12th street. the agency says it plans on retiming traffic signals and adding cross hatched markings in intersections to keep muni going. those at the fair will see extra police. it's to prevent gang violents. up to $60 private security guard and 18

units will be on patrol. the fair is paying $133,000 towards law enforcement efforts. the fair opened up yet and it will stay open through august 10th. you don't have to go all the way to spain to run with the bulls. tomorrow you can do it in the bay area. the great bull run is making its way to alameda county fairgrounds in pleasanton and hundreds of people are expected to run along side a 1500 pound bull, but peta is trying to stop the event getting thousands of signatures on a petition claiming animal cruelty. the bull run starts at 11:00 and it's $75 to run with the bulls and $10 to watch. you heard steve saying it's going to be a skoucher. they

that we need in place to make sure that thing was safe. as to the beginnings of this, it was at 7:40 that brought police to launch their investigation of there was a 911 caller who said she heard a bomb threat. it was not the caller who made the threat, but said that they had heard threats and of course to safety concerns, we immediately evacuated the station and stopped trains from running through which of course creates a major delay for people, but we want to make sure everyone is safe. that's the number one priority. >> so what's happening with the people who are normally on their way, let's say to the city at this time coming from richmond? are those trains being turned around? >> they're being turned around and we're attempting to establish a bus bridge with ac transit so we're working to get one bus going as soon as we can, and in addition to that, there

is already some lines that ac transit has that mirror that corridor -- along that corridor, but for a lot of people it means changing gears and adding time to their commute, so it's not an ideal situation, but as i said, we have to make sure that everyone is safe first. >> jim, the last question, we did see from our news chopper 2 that the dogs are there and the dogs were checking out a car and checking out stations. once it's all clear, i an assume they're going to -- i an assume they're going to reopen this station. >> once we know everything is safe, we'll open up the trains. hopefully it won't take too long to get people going. >> that's jim allison, bart's spokespersons who filled us in

the other car suffered minor injuries. the search is focused on foster city side of that bridge. for the past 90 minutes, we've been following developing news of an apartment fire in san francisco, but what's really troubling is a body found in one of the units in that high rise building. ktvu alex savage is there. you have an update. >>reporter: dave, good morning . many neighbors are shaken by this fire and they said the woman was in her 60s who lived in this building for quite some time. the fire broke out on the second floor in the park merced area. the fire started at 5:00 this morning and fire alarm sounded and crews responded to the building that's on merced drive near san

francisco state. the crews who got out here had trouble finding the fire and they followed the smoke and found the building on fire. and the woman's body was found inside and those i talk to said the woman had lived in that unit for 30 years. >> it's sad. all of us are here to say our -- we want to say our goodbyes. we're sad to see her go. >> the fire hasn't become clear but we do have an arson investigator at this scene inside of that unit gathering information and they'll piece together what happened this morning. firefighters still trying to figure out why this woman who lives in the second story unit was unable to get out of her apartment when the fire started early this morning. alex savage.

the transit system took steps to improve service. and pam cook is joining us. >> 50,000 people a day ride muni for free. that cost muni $20 million a year, but that means that people are sneaking into the back door without paying. we caught it on our cameras. muni said it's a trade-off and they said service is better and faster. >> customer satisfaction is up. people are happy to be able to get to their destinations quicker because we're not having to stay at our stops for extended periods of time. it's all in all, i think it's a
