?ññ;ñ; a spike in temperatures, and we are tracking near record highs. which neighborhoods could go above the century mark and the health concerns heat is raising. >> developing news out of oakland, police are surrounding a barricaded suspect accused of shooting at a repossession agent trying to tow away a car. >> we are hearing from bart about today's bomb threat that caused major delays for morning commuters.

>> temperatures are quickly rising across the bay area and a spare the air alert is in effect today. good afternoon. i am hori campbell. we begin with rosemary who is tracking the conditions now. >> temperatures are on the rise and fire weather concerns as well. we'll take a look at the numbers at this hour. some areas are already in the low 90s, 91 in livermore, 91 concord. we have 87 for santa rosa, 83 in san francisco. before we go further i will show you an area that's not going to be hot right along the coast, 64 degrees at half moon bay. let's talk about the heat. inland into the east bay it is 93 at pittsburgh, 90 lafayette. if you are already in the low 90s chances are you are going to be close to the century mark or even above if as we get to

the second half of the afternoon. here are some areas that could hit a record for today. san francisco. we're going to have to update that number because now it's 83. it looks like we may beat the old record for san francisco. mountain view is very close. i put gill roy on there. the fest is going on, the garlic festival, it's going to be 100 degrees there. i will detail the numbers for the entire weather for today, when i expect to see a drop. we'll check on the air quality for your area. tori. >> thank you. triple digit temperatures forecast in gillroy where the garlic festival kicked off. several precautions are already in place. janine is here to tell us how people are keeping cool. >> i am feeling the heat and so are a lot of people.

we are at christmas hill park in gilroy where the a garlic festival is in full swing. first responders wanted to be sure we stay safe in the sizzling temperatures. these pans will reach up to 500 degrees but it is not just the cool that will be cooking. temperatures will reach 100. how do you deal with it? >> drink a beer when you get here and get water, water, water all day, get kids slushy lemonades. >> organizers say despite it being a scorcher it won't stop droves much people coming to the festival for the next days. they're prepared with canopies and water stations spread throughout the walk. if problems arise emergency responders are on stand by. >> last year we had 60 medical calls over three days including nine that required advanced life support. maybe folks are coming from a cooler environment and come

here for the day and they're not used to the hot environment. they're in the sun all day and may be becoming dehydrated. >> the red cross has a station to treat people in case they have heat stroke. if you drink beer they want to remind you to drink plenty water. >> they get sweaty, their level of consciousness goes down. they're really weak. we lay them down with cold compresses on the head. the fire department had a briefing with other crews about responding to calls. while they're concerned about heat related illness they have a crew here dedicated to handle fires. there is propane and open flames being used so they want to be sure nothing sparks up in an area where it is not supposed to be. >> thank you janine. we are following developing news out of oakland. police are asking people to avoid a neighborhood in west

oakland where a gunman opened fire at a repossession agent this morning. it happened on 7th street near market street. investigators say a repossession agent was trying to tow away a car when someone fired at him. bullets struck the tow truck but the agent was not injured. the gunman ran away. he has now barricaded himself on a property not for from the shooting. police are urging people to avoid the area. a bomb threat at the oakland colosseum bart station shut down train lines during the peak of the morning commute. bomb sniffing dogs cleared the area before 9:00. what did they tell you katie? >> we learned this is actually the second threat involving bart recently. there was a threat to the north berkeley station where a patron yelled a threat. today someone over heard or was told about a threat and the

person called 911. >> the exact words i cannot get into but suffice it to say it mentioned a bomb and colosseum bart station. >> reporter: around 7:40 am bart police evacuated colosseum station. trains for the three lines that travel through were stopped short in both directions essentially halting morning commute in the east bank. bomb sniffing dogs searched the area but did not find anything threatening. a transit bus began shuttling passengers and by 9:00 the all clear was given. but the damage to the morning commute was already done. >> i am very upset. there was a bomb threat. they should have let us know. they just put us outside. bart, i am very disappointed. >> reporter: bart police say they're actively investigating the initial threat but overall their message is they are glad that the call was made. if you see or hear something,

say something. >> thank you katie. we are learning more about a gun battle that injured an innocent teenager at a park in oakland. police say two groups of people, one in a car and the other standing, shot at each other at brooke dale park just after 7:00 last night. a stray bullet hit a teen-age boy in the leg. he had just finished a basketball game. while he is in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery officers say there could have been more victims after nearly 20 bullet casings were recovered. >> people playing ball, full of kids and adults and of course all the people who live in the neighborhood here, they were just coming home from work at that time. >> police found the suspect's car abandoned. investigators say they're following up on several good leads. san jose police investigating a late fight that left five injured. it happened around 10:45 in

east san jose on darwin way not far from over felt high school. officers found two men stabbed and three others beaten. one of the men suffered life threatening injuries. investigators are looking into a motive behind the attack. a woman was killed during an early morning fire at her san francisco apartment. as alex savage tells us many people are shaken by the death of the long time neighbor. >> reporter: the fire alarm sounded inside this high rise apartment building around 5:00 this morning. crews made their way to a unit on the second story filled with smoke. that's where they found a woman dead inside. neighbors tell us the victim was in her 30s, well known in the building. she's lived here more than 30 years. >> she was here many, many years. she's a very nice neighbor. >> it's sad. all of us are here just waiting to say our good-byes, you know.

we're all family. it's sad to see her go. >> reporter: investigators say the fire didn't burn beyond the one unit. it was fairly small and it may have been smouldering for sometime. the smoke alarms in the building kept going on and off and that's why some neighbors ignored them. firefighters say that's risky. >> people need to understand they may feel they get a lot of false alarms but you never know what is a false alarm. i would heed warning and say when an alarm goes off get out of the building. >> reporter: the woman who died lived alone and firefighters say based on everything they found inside her unit it's possible she may have been a hoarder. the victim has not yet been identified by authorities. a battle yanira chief told me it is unclear why the woman couldn't make it out of the burning apartment. an arson investigator was called to gather evidence and figure out what started the

deadly fire. fire crews put out a limo fire this morning. the driver was on fair grounds drive when he noticed the vehicle overheating. he stopped, lifted the hood and saw flames. as you can see flames consumed the entire limo. there were no passengers inside at the time and nobody was hurt. the transfer of human remain from his malaysia airlines flight 17 is almost complete. the big discovery at the crash site today. >> the latest on a search for several people involved in this morning's hit and run on the san mateo bridge. why one of the suspects is reportedly so dangerous.

new details about the deadly plane crash of an air algerie flight. french soldiers have secured the site where at least 116 were killed. the plane was flying through a thunderstorm from burkina faso when it disappeared. there were no survivors. crews have almost finished the transfer of 282 bodies and other remains from eastern

ukraine to the netherlands. flight 17 was shot down more than a week ago with 298 on board and as andrew spencer reports international monitors are still searching the debris field and finding human remains. >> reporter: military cargo planes bring dozens of coffins to netherlands. officials expect to finish the transfer by saturday. after the crash of mh17 the gruesome process of recovering remains is more difficult than just simply counting the number of caskets. >> 203 body bags doesn't mean we have 203 people. it might be more. it might be less. we are convinced there are still remains which we want to recover which we want to bring to the netherlands. >> reporter: international monitors watched over by military escorts search through a debris field spanning several miles. they find a piece of the

fuselage, biggest yet, its fall cushioned by the trees, some windows intact. the team finds more than debris. >> for the second day, we spotted human remains. >> reporter: even the remains already recovered might not be identified for months. that's a long time to wait for the victim's relatives. this woman's daughter was a part of the flight crew. their loved ones' burials delays. families can only wait for the recovery process to be completed. i am andrew spencer reporting. >> we learned within the last hour israel rejected a cease fire proposal by john kerry. israeli media says the plan for a week long stop to the violence was unanimously rejected because it would mean israel would have to halt efforts to destroy hamas tunnels under gaza israeli

border. today israeli aircraft struck at least 30 homes in the gaza strip. secretary of state kerry remain in his egypt trying to broker a deal. a $50,000 reward is offered to track down a driver in last week's deadly bank robbery and shoot out in stockton. police want to find the driver of this car. they say the person dropped off three armed robbers where they robbed the bank and took three hostages. one of the hostages was killed. that woman's sister is begging for the public to help. >> i am making a plea to every one of you stocktonians to step forward with any knowledge of any information that will bring these criminals down. let's take our city back. this is our city, not theirs. take it back. >> two of the bank robbers died in the shoot out. the third was captured.

he faces a number of charges including murder. a hit and run on the san mateo bridge sent a woman to the hospital and prompted a manhunt. the driver of a toyota station wagon struck a porsche on west bound highway 92. the four people in the toyota got out of the car, jumped a fence and ran off. this triggered a search near the marina and around hotels. investigators say one of the people on the run was reportedly armed with a gun. >> we don't know if the others are so use caution. call 911. definitely don't approach them. >> the four are described as latino males. the toyota they were in was stolen. emergency crews took the driver of the porsche to a hospital with minor injuries. a former san francisco state university professor is facing serious charges accused of secretly video taping people who use the bathroom at his

home. mark landis allegedly video taped current and former students. one day a student found a surveillance camera in the bathroom disguised as a tissue box. >> camera was pointed in a way so when people were using facilities it would be pointed at their genitals. >> i think he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law of violating students because he is in a position of power. >> the investigation started last november. landis taught accounting from 2006 until last friday. students who believe they were victimized are being offered counseling. a livermore soccer coach accused of molesting a child at a summer camp. he was arrested while working as a speed and strength coach in livermore. no details are being released

after posting its quarterly loss. the stock is down over 10% now after it reported a wider loss than analysts forecast. even though the company saw a surge in revenue it was out paced by a big uptick in expenses. mark zuckerburg is not singing the financial blues. he is $1.6 billion richer. the social media website stock is up a fraction, up almost .14% after closing at nearly $75 a share. yesterday facebook stock ballooned 183% over the last year. zuckerburg's net worth is about $33.3 billion. we are learning more about the possible merger of two big real estate websites. zillo announced it is considering driving trulea. if the two merge it would

become dominant website for house hunters having about 90% of the industry. they're seeking to buy for an estimated $2 billion in cash and stock if the companies reach agreement. it can be announced as soon as next week. hundreds of union workers at the two macy's on threatening to go on strike. workers at the stores have authorized a strike. they're angry the store wants to put a cap on commissions earned bicorn employees and they say new workers would not get any commissions at all. macy's says it is preparing for strike but hopes to return to the bargaining table soon. we are hearing another account of the deadly bank heist in stockton that killed a mother of two from another woman who was inside that bank. she was one of the last people to see misty hot sing alive. >> i saw in her eyes that she
