southern california where authorities say 14 people have been struck by lightening in los angeles county as rare summer thunderstorms sweep through the area. 13 struck on venice beach, some appeared to be in the water, others on the board walk. crews transported nine people to the hospital where two are in critical condition. a 57-year-old man reportedly in stable an after being struck in catalina island. >> >> firefighters battered large flames and heavy smoke as the fire spread through two stores in colton plaza. alameda county firefighters said a hair salon had had extensive damage. other stores were open for normal today. >> >> in richmond, firefighters say a woman

suffered burns to 40% of her body and a man had burns on his arm. at least one of the families is being helped by the red cross. a neighbor helped to save lives by knocking on people's doors to warn them about the fire. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. >> >> investigation of a triple shooting that happened near cesar chavez school around midnight. one man and two women were shot. the 32-year-old man died at the scene. the two women were taken to the hospital. the police are asking for the public's help for more information in this case. >> >> a man shot a pitbull that had reported been threatening people. neighbors say two pitbulls were roaming around, acting aggressively. one woman said she encountered

a very special delivery for two bay area families came in quite an unusual way. two baby boys were each born this weekend, delivered by their fathered on different parts of highway 101. kristina randone is live to share the stories of one of those families. kristina. >> >> reporter: most families have their babies in a hospital. keiser is where one family was heading, but their unborn son had other plans. >> nestled in his mother's arms -- >> the best feeling ever in the world. >> reporter: the baby -- >> the way he came was so special. >> reporter: is safely resting after a whirlwind entrance into this world. >> i don't think the average person can say they delivered their own son. >> reporter: they say their son was in a hurry to meet them, while they were in a hurry to

matters. >> >> reporter: although it is rare for families to have roadside deliveries, we are told another father delivered his son yesterday in nevado on the 101 with the help of a marine county deputy. >> >> freemont police say officers broke into a car window to rescue a six-month-old baby that was accidentally locked inside >> it happened at the freemont hub shopping center. the mother had accidentally locked the baby inside and called for help. at the time, it was hot and the sun was shining directly onto the baby's face. officers tried to get in using a lockout tool, but they say it was taking too long, so they broke the window instead. police say the baby was not injured. >> >> a fire in yosemite national park has grown to 2,000-acres.

the fryer prompted authorities to close down highway 120, causing a traffic headache for visitors heading in and out of the park. aspen is standing by with details. >> reporter: you can see behind me, one of the helicopters refueling for this fire as you mentioned, so far,ed fire has burned 2100-acres. at "zo" row percent containment. we are told one structure was lost in this fire and the two small mountain communities best of yosemite have been evacuated as well as a crane flat campground, more than 400 firefighters were the national parks are here as well as the u.s. forest service here, trying to work together to put this fire out. at last check, they are fighting with fire with four hot shot crews, six tankers and helicopters.

the fire is a type one fire, meaning it is a national emergency wildfire. expected to rise at 6:00 tonight. the fire is said to have moved fast because of the dry vegetation in this area and rough terrain and temperatures making it difficult. american red cross has set up two evacuation centers on highway 41 as well as the groveland community center on highway 120. we spoke to some visitors. we'll have more on their reaction at 5:30. live near yosemite, ktv overages channel "2 news." today's high temperatures have not been helping the firefight near yosemite, mark tomeo is here with a look at the conditions. >> pretty muched same deal today as yesterday. looking at the maps, you will see a better idea of a reference point.

groveland is here. and there is the fire. closer look at the current conditions right now, 103 degrees. very hot, obviously, the temperatures over 100, winds have not been too much of a factor, gusting to 10-mile says an hour, but very dry, relative humidity around 13%. the hot weather will stick around to forecast over the next few days. another added element, showers and thunderstorms approaching part says of the sierra, a lightening strike detected earlier today and they will be a possibility as we head into monday. southern california, lightening strikes close tore venice beach. this was the case at 2:50 this afternoon with the developing thunderstorm. here is the radar loop over the past three hours, activetives moving across catalina and parts of los angeles county as well. we could be tracking thunderstorms over the next three days. more on that coming up in 10 minutes. >> >> the so-called san fire is

the area of high pressure remains in place. circulation around this bringing in moisture to the bay area. as a result there is a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm as we head into monday and tuesday, favoring the higher terrain, but we will hold on to at least the high clouds and humid conditions. upper 70s to near 80 and the beaches low to mid-60s. here as the updated forecast model, showing you some cloud cover out there. based on the activity to our south, towards southern california. we put in the chance of an isolated showers and thunderstorms, really not showing up in this forecast model, look at the moisture plume push into the region by late monday and possibly into tuesday as well. we'll keep an eye on the radar and the skies as we have changing weather conditions over the next five days. still hot toward fairfield.

snowball effort says to investigate the crash scene site continued to fail. today, it was 30 unarmed dutch policemen attempting to reach the site. they had to turn back, due to heavy fighting in the area. that fighting -- ukrainian forces are trying to seal of the eastern access to the city of a million civilians that has come under heavy fire over the past two days. as far as the bodies go of those victims, at least 220 coffins have been returned to the netherlands, but there are still remains in the field. the international observer that reached the scene confirmed that. bodies that were returned to the netherlands are undergoing the process of identification. still no clear word on how many bodies have been recovered as

as we mentioned earlier, firefighters are battling a blaze that burned more than 2,000-acres on the west side of yosemite national park. it has prompted some road closures and evacuations. live at a helicopter landing site with more. >> reporter: we are told more than 400 firefighters are here to battle the fire. you can see behind me,

helicopters are refueling at this heli pad, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. visitors, today were greeted with road closure signs at highway 120 at crane flat road. so far, the fire has burned 2100-acres. it's at zero percent containment. the campground has been evacuated. resources to fight the fire, four hot shoot crews, six wing tankers and helicopters. we met up with visitors that didn't know what they were going to deal with because of the road closures. others said they woke up to see and smell the smoke in the valley. here's what one visitor told us this afternoon. >> we were concerned. it's such a dry year. you cross your fingers that things don't get out of control, this is only july. >> one structure was lost in this fire.

forecast. so, there is that chance of an isolated thunderstorm for monday, maybe better bet into tuesday as we get another surge of cloud cover moving in from the south. everything is coming in from the south over the next few days, as a result. we'll hold onto the muggy conditions. temperatures, 60s, 80s, low to mid-90s inland, a little cooler tomorrow especially if we get high cloud says move maoing into the region. here is our forecast model. not showing much in the way of coverage, but enough moisture out there. enough instability to warrant the chances, especially by late monday into tuesday. tomorrow morning. low clouds and fog. high clouds increasing. definitely more clouds into tuesday, here in the bay area. showers and thunderstorms developing toward the sierra as well and by late tuesday, high clouds should gradually move out of town. i'll keep an eye on the sky over the next two days, a lot
