venice beach. nick had been going to santa barbara city college and he was due to go to his dream school at usc. he was out surfing and he was missing for about an hour before he was found and he was rushed to the hospital where he later died. people were also there and lightning from the storm injured a golfer on an island. that lightning storm has lifeguards in the bay area testing their training. lifeguards are watching the sky as well as the was the area. -- water. they are trained to clear the beach but they are rarely pressed to use that kind of training. >> up and down the coach, watch out for that dark cloud that might be approaching us.

hotel. janine de la vega is there as well and you have just received an update including some new information about that victim, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave, yes police tell us the victim was 33 years old and it does not appear he was homeless and i say that because transients are seen where all the police officers were standing and that's where the stabbing occurred and we are told it happened close to where you see that black backpack on the ground and it is surrounded by evidence markers and it is unknown if it happened. somebody called to report a group of 5 or 6 people were attacking a man near south market and park street. you can see the victim was suffering from at least one stab wound. they rushed him to the hospital but he was pronounced dead

shortly after. they will be looking to see if any of them had it and they were some items found in there. >> there are some beer bottles and it is unknown if that is related and those items are located between that and the homicide. >> reporter: police tell us they don't know the motive for this stabbing and they are trying to figure out if it was targeted or a random attack but it does not appear to be gang related. police are at lodge and this is the second homicide to occur. there does not appear to be any between the two on the east

she is an african-american woman between 5 feet inches tall weighing 145 pounds. at the time of the robbery, she was wearing tan pans and the robbery happened 645 in the evening the robber knocked her to the ground, the victim in this case is now recovering from her injuries and the robber hospitalized into the passenger's seat and took off. they say she was surprised to find out somebody was robbed right here in richmond. >> i was very surprised to hear somebody had been attacked here. again police are hoping somebody comes forward and we have talked to some folks and
