gmail account. >> complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 6:00 p.m. >> two muni crashes prompted officials to call for help themselves. tonight 2 investigates a short supply of ambulances stretched thin by so many injuries. hello. i am gasia mikalian. >> and i am frank somerville. julie haener has the night off. we told you about the delay of rolling out more ambulances two weeks ago. now firefighters are telling ktvu channel 2 news friday's muni crashes are a perfect example of the need facing crews. 2 investigates took a look at the dispatch reports that show the problem isn't getting better. ktvu's david stevenson is live in san francisco with the numbers. >> reporter: firefighters are proud of their response to last friday's incidents but say it highlights the shortages that are causing waits for ambulances. >> reporter: the emergency

calls started coming in after 1:30 p.m. friday afternoon. two separate accidents involving muni within 10 minutes. >> to have two red alerts. >> reporter: the city ended up requesting aid from neighboring counties to provide ambulances for other emergency calls, highlighting a problem that grown to crisis stage. firefighters say the shortage manifested in ambulance response delays. two weeks after we reported on the concerns about the problem. new reports show the delays are still continuing. records show that between july 21 and 27 code 3 response times range from 20 to 90 minutes for emergencies. >> shameful. shameful. >> the fire department received $3 million for three

stuff. over the sacramento valley. it has been lighting up over the sierra. this is working our way. we have a system associated with this monsoonal moisture and it is bringing in that wrap around moisture. this will be pulling towards the west and as it does it will line up scattered showers. tonight into tomorrow will be the best possibility. i will show you the model on this and we will look at when drier, warmer weather will arrive coming up. >> thank you. a 43-year-old man is behind bars charged with molesting two girls. police say he met them while doing handy work for relatives. ktvu's claudine wong reports mese are worried there could be more victims. >> reporter: neighbors in this mobile home park say it is not uncommon to hear children which made the arrest of the 43-year- old even more upsetting to some

people. >> yes, shocking. yeah. that is why i don't let them outside by themselves. >> reporter: neighbors confirm he lived in this home, working as a handy man. police say he was doing work for one family when he came into contact with two sisters, 7 and 10. the girls told their parents on separate occasion he lured them to a area and touched them inappropriately. >> he did provide a statement. based on his statement and the information they received it was enough to arrest him. >> he was arrested on friday and remains in jail today. a man who lives next to him says the charnels are hard to believe. >> i know that he does do contracting work and he seems like a good guy. >> reporter: other neighbors say they are not taking chances. when we told her about the arrest she immediately wept on to -- went on to find out what

else she didn't know. >> there is another child molester that lives here too. >> reporter: he does not have a criminal record but they are still concerned there could be more victims out there. claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. the master of his domain is how they described a school teacher who is facing more than 100 criminal charges of molestation. during closing arguments today the district attorney told jurors that joseph martin used his authority to manipulate students, parents and administrators. he is accused of touching male students in his classes inappropriately. but his attorney says the touching was not sexual. >> my worry is there will be a hung jury. >> initially he was charged with 150 counts but some charges were dropped last week

bringing the number to 116. lawyers for a san francisco man who is charged with online drug trafficric trying to get a judge to -- tracking are trying to get a judge to toss out the evidence. his lawyers accuse the government of violating the amendment on illegal search and seizure. ross ulbricht pleaded not guilty. his trial is scheduled to start november 3. . new information about a string of burglaries in alamo. the contra costa county sheriff's department says news coverage and social media post brought in tips and those tips led them to name this man. the 29-year-old as the suspect and tonight he is still at large. last week we showed you this surveillance video of one of the burglaries. the burglar broke in through a

window and stole $12,000 worth of belongings from the people who live there. a fire at a construction site brought things to a stop in san francisco today. it happened at noon at a old hotel. the building is undergoing innovation and 8 construction workers were taken to the hospital. ktvu's noelle walker is live with what she knows about the fire. >> reporter: the fire department said the fire department will be here through the night monitoring things, keeping an eye to make sure no hot spots spark up. that is the building right there. built in the early 1900s. it was vacant and in the process of being renovated when the fire started around noon. you can see the smoke from news chopper 2. the fire burned inside the hotel between lower floors is up and a light well. two dozen construction workers

were inside the building at the time. all of them made it out but 8 were treated for smoke inhalation. firefighters got the install to get -- signal to get out of the building till they knew it was safe. >> they were able to get water on the fire between the first and second floor but they weren't able to contain it enough to render it safe. the building is very valuable but not worth risking lives for. >> reporter: investigators have not determined the cause of the fire but they will be looking at construction activities to see if that might have anything to do with it. the blaze closed down parts of market street and forced the muni to reroute some lines. the only closure right now is mccalster street, which runs parallel to market street. muni back online and streets back open.

noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. a fire that destroyed part of a fishing peer along the martinez marina was likely caused by humans according to fire investigators with the contra costa county fire protection district. the fire broke out around 11:00 p.m. last night and it took firefighters 90 minutes to control the flames. officials today said they believe the fire may have been started by discarded cigarette butts. several were founds stuffed into holes by the peer. no injuries were reported. a boating accident in lake tahoe claimed the lives of a couple. the accident happened early yesterday morning. the 44-year-old and her husband were killed when the boat they were in crashed into a dock. officials say the power boat was traveling so fast it split in half on impact. officials are working to learn if drugs or alcohol played a

role in the accident. the coast guard suspected its search for a fisherman whose boat ran a grounds in san francisco. rescuers combed 18 square miles. he was at the helm of the ship when he radioed that the boat was taking on water at 3:30 a.m. this morning. witnesses saw someone jump from the ship, there was no one else on board. the crews will remove the fuel from the boat and focus on getting the boat off the beach. a pedestrian was injured in san francisco when a uber driver had a seizure and crashed. police say the 56-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle during the seizure hitting a pedestrian and three parked cars. both the pedestrian and driver were hospitalized. they are expected to be okay. the company is removing the driver from the app pending a

they alerted authorities which told police. he was arrested last week. google says this is one of many criminal cases including many convictions that used this technology. and now that the practice helped catch an accused child pornographer it reignited controversy over the policy. ktvu's john fowler tells us they say for most of us there is no privacy when we send an e- mail. >> reporter: 400 million people use gmail. some are angry at snooping. >> i don't like it. because it is my e-mail. i thought that was mine. i guess it is not. >> reporter: from your phone or other device google insists what you send is not private. >> i am surprised there aren't privacy laws that prohibit them from scanning. >> reporter: google changed its terms of service to allow searches of e-mail content. >> i don't have anything to hide so i don't care.

>> reporter: google isn't saying how it discovered this child pornography but the company confirmed today that it is using so-called hashing technology that allows it to search for finger prints on known images. google said it partners to identify certain images and they added this in an e-mail. it is important to remember we only use this to identify child pornography, not other e-mail content. she is a survival of child abuse and supports some scanning. >> i disagree for advertising but when it comes to illegal activity it is fair enough. >> reporter: they also walked middle ground saying its wants the public to understand free services aren't really free.

it hopes they will encourage models that better protect privacy. john fowler, ktvu channel 2 news. san francisco based linkedin was ordered to pay 6 million dollars in unpaid over time. that money will go to 300 past and present employees. linkedin agreed to pay back wages after a investigation. the department says employees who were classified as exemp from over time often worked an extra 5 hours a week. the family of a football player who died after a drill in february now claims coaches and trainers took too long to respond to his systems. tomorrow the family of ted agu plans to file a lawsuit against the university of california regents. ted agu died in february after experiencing dizziness and loss of balance during drills.

they found ted agu had a heart condition that could lead to cadiac arrest. the man accused of injuring six people monday was in court today. the 25-year-old was arraigned on 10 felony counts. police say he tried to get away from police in a stolen van. he ran a red light and then hit a taxi cab and those two vehicles then hit and injured a bike rider and pedestrian. two people in the taxi and a female passenger in the van were also injured. he then took off on a muni bus but captured. he will be in court august 29. bail is $350,000. san jose police are close to catching a burglar caught on video smashing a window to break into a home. take a look here. you can see the man lurking around the backyard of the home

yesterday afternoon. sticks his hand through the door and kicks the door and then uses a shovel. that doesn't work. he take as rock, throws it through the window and breaks in. the man got away with some watches. >> i thought i was protected. cameras and alarms and signs and locked gates. >> san jose police say they think they know who the man is and they are close to making an arrest. the fire fight continues across northern california as crews battle 9 large wildfires. officials believe most fires were started by lightning, including two aggressive fires in shasta county. the fire is burning near redding in the national forecast with no containment. it burned 25,000 acres, destroyed 8 homes and forced the evacuation of a medical facility. many residents are ignoring

evacuation orders to protect their home. and the bald fire is east of there. it has grown to 40,000 acres and only 20% contained. but it is not threatening structures. on saturday governor jerry brown declared a state of emergency. we have been reporting on light rain but even what we may be getting isn't enough to help the drought or the fires. >> right. just a few isolated showers. there is a fire watch concerns and red flag warning for the possibility of eye to lightning. inland communities enjoyed more comfortable temperatures at least. 83 antioch right now. 78 livermore. 79 concord. 65 san francisco. low 60s half moon bay. 72 san jose. with all the clouds over head, the cooler air in place again. inland communities not backing.

we had a nice weekend. radar, take a look, a mix of sun and clouds right now but notice again to the east, you don't have to go too far to pick up on the moisture over the sacramento valley. primarily over the foothills and the sierra nevada, tahoe, getting rain today. it started up late yesterday and hasn't stopped a lot. showed you this at the top of the hour. in addition to the monsoonal moisture from the southwest, we have a little bit of a storm here that is bringing the extra lift. and as it pushes that moisture our way we will see the possibility of a few scattered showers tonight. lasting into tuesday. as we get into the evening, cloudy skies. sprinkles. we will wake up tomorrow morning with patchy drizzle again and the possibility of a few scattered showers and maybe even a thunderstorm or two. we will see. the models have not handled it

very well. over night hours and tomorrow morning, notice we wake up with low clouds. you don't see a lot of moisture. and you don't for the entire day unless you are looking to the north bay. just the northern edge. again the models haven't handled the monsoonal moisture too well in the past. we are still living in the possibility of scattered showers tuesday. by the afternoon low 70s in areas like santa rosa. 75 hayward. 74 oakland. inland communities warming up, mid-80s. a few low 90s. and wednesday partly cloudy skies. monsoonal moisture moves out of the area. drier, warmer weather into your bay area weekend with temperatures in the low 90s inland. >> weird summer it has been. >> unusual. >> thank you. the giants trying to make it two in a row against the mets ask the 9ers practice
