happening in our weather. will we get anything? >> i doubt it. especially to the north. we have a lot of fog to deal with. you is still have a little time to see that super moon unless you have coast and bay fog. again we are definitely on the western allege of this. it is close. there is a lot of moisture streaming around this low which is very cool looking. it is off the coast as long as it is just too far right now. it's pumping in a lot of moisture. 50s and 60s on the temps. 59 seems rather popular. walnut creek, concord, and novato at 59. generally running a little cooler. an okay breeze. nothing too outrageous. a lot of moisture to the north. look at this batch coming up in the central sierra. that will favor spots again. for us it looks like low clouds and fog and sun.

>> reporter: lots of folks heading to work. as you can see behind me the tow truck is just wrapping up and getting the white pickup truck out of here. this was a particularly violent crash. it knocked the bed of the truck off. the truck was in the roadway and the bed ended up on the sidewalk. officers just told us that a black bmw was heading westbound on international and a white dodge pickup south on 35th. investigators are not sure when ran a red light but they are hoping that surveillance from a passing ac transit bus may provide clues. a pedestrian he is the person in critical condition. five other people were taken to the hospital but all are expected to survive. right now the pedestrian is in icu we are told at the hospital. from what we are hearing it doesn't look good. we will of course keep you

updated about this investigation and the condition of the victim here. live from oakland i'm tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 news. police in san francisco are investigating the deaths of two men on motorcycles. they crashed and died while trying to escape fire in the bay yaw district. cleanup is under way after the outside lands music festival. >> reporter: they left behind a lot of trash. crews have be busy all morning

long going around and cleaning it up. these are the polo fields here in the middle of the ark. this was the main stage cur the outside lands music festival. we have seen workers out here. they have been out here over night in fact. take you down to the tables and feints. and disassemble all of the music stages as well. they draw complaints from neighbors. and as outside lands wrapped up last night, concert goers spilled out of the park and nearby streets were clogged with cars. more than 200,000 people turned out for this years event.

it featured performances by kanye west. the biggest issue they faced out here were a high number of people that bought fake tickets. as many as 35 suspect the scalpers were taken into custody. security was stepped up. there was surveillance cameras and additional officers. and one neighbor told us he -- >> it just seems a little cleaner this year. >> reporter: police were also focused on those quality of life crimes in and around the festival. they handed out a lot of tickets to people for littering and public you are nation and caught quite a few people to hop the fences and sneak into the event. as to how loud the music was, outside lands did set up a noise hot line for neighbors. live in san francisco alex savidge ktvu channel 2 news. time is 6:06. the city of san francisco has a new plan to reduce the number of empty store fronts. the examiner reports a new city law requires the owners of a

store front left vacant for more than nine months has to pay a fee of $765 a year and they have to register with the city. many san francisco business owners have complained that empty store fronts often attract crime, graffiti, and they hurt nearby businesses. the bay area woman nicknamed the serial stow away is to go back to court today. 62-year-old marilyn heartman was arrested thursday wondering through l.a. international airport. she is accused of violating the probation handed down to her a day earlier. heartman was told to stay away from the airport if you didn't have a proper boarding pass. she managed to sneak on to a southwest airlines jet from san jose to los angeles last monday anarchies been arrested several times for trying to sneak ton to planes. right now the coast guard is coordinating the rescue effort of a sailboat.

the people on board sent a message yesterday morning after the boat became disabled about 400 miles northeast of oahu. the boat's life raft had blown away and taking on water. there are three people on board. a container ship has been diverted and on its way to a -- meanwhile people in hawaii are breathing a sigh of relief after hurricane julio passed the island with very little damage. iselle made land fall on friday. >> high waves are expected today as hurricane julio continues to pass by. thousands of people on the big island are still without power

following tropical storm iselle. officials say it might be several days before power is fully restored. time is 6:08. for the first time in california history the state could limit ground water pumping. they are working with environmentalists in cities to balance the demand for water pumping. landowners had to apply for a permit to pump water out of the under ground aqua fur. after decades of very intense pumping, water tables have dropped to dangerously low levels. this combs after a lawsuit raised concerns about the impact on that. it's an endangered species of frog. they have been removing and burning trees near upper echo lake. that is considered a designated

area they will meet with wildlife officials about the possible risk to frogs. cal tran wrapped up its work two hours early. the chp says all four bores are open at this hour. it had been scheduled to stay closed until 7:00 this morning but it's open. cal tran has be working on a road realign. that is the left hand tunnel. the work during the weekend did cause some delays. it lasted 20 minutes. but again all of the tunnels are open. >> that is good news. a massive fire at the barics on mayor island. coming up at 6:30 we'll have the latest on the search for a cause. >> but first the chaos in the

6:13. it was a violent night in missouri as protestors responded to the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old by a police officer. the crowd began to gather yesterday afternoon in a city near st. louis. they were met by 150 officers in riot gear and canine units. there are reports a civilian was walking by and severely beaten by protestors. businesses were also damaged and traffic was blocked for hours. and people were caught on television cameras you sigh there lewding stores. a sporting goods store, beauty shop, and dollar store were all hit. a quick trip convenient store was also destroyed by vandals. at least 1,000 people were lewding. they say about 20 police cruisers were damaged. several gunshots were heard but so far no one has reported being shot. this all comes after 18-year-

old michael brown was shot multiple times on saturday afternoon. police say brown assaulted the office and was shot while trying to take the officer's gun. but witnesses say the teenager was stopped by police and appear odd be surrendering when he was shot. the chief of police is calling in the state highway patrol to help with the situation. the attorney that represented the family of trey very martin is -- trayvon martin is representing the family of michael brown. the woman that was punched in the head by a chp officer says she felt like he was trying to beat her to death. this is cell phone video of a live incident. marlynne is suing the chp alleging the force, assault and battery. pinnic was released from the hospital last week from head

injury. her attorney who says her client who is homeless was walking along the freeway ramp to get to a place where homeless people sleep. the annual burning manifest value in nevada is two weeks away. the work in petaluma on the center piece is still not complete. 100 volunteers are still work on building the pieces for the nine story wooden structure the festival goers refer to as the temple. the project is the master mind of petaluma artist david bess. >> i saw one year someone was weeping at the temple. and they had a grateful dead t- shirt on. a skirt and a fluorescent orange wig and they were grieving. you can't do that at a church. >> this year's temple is called

[ laughter ] there is parking again. any way. good morning, everybody. let's take a look at the commute now. the traffic is actually slow if you are driving this morning on highway 4. a little bit of fog. seven minutes to drive from loan tree away to loveridge. it's a 25 minute drew into san francisco. and just give yourself a little extra time. we have slow traffic i will show you the road sensors. the traffic is very slow right off the bat from the altamont pass get into the main part of livermore.

thanks to a group called subbed friends. the group organized the event that provided notebooks and calculators and pencils to low income students. the community and local businesses pitched in to make sure students of all ages get a good start to the school year. pedestrian is in serious condition after a violent crash on the streets of oakland. it's a story we've been following since 4:30 this morning. coming up what led up to the crash and the new information we received just minutes ago about traffic in the area.

a quick look at weather and traffic. >> i really like this water vapor look. it's probably getting local drizzle as well. it's definitely pumping in a lot of tropical moisture. and also up into northern california. it's really close. some of these could drift in there. mainly on the mother load. maybe solano. still there is a fire watch for dry lightning for those areas. the delta out to the valley and the lake county as well. thunderstorm activity continues to be rotating around. those are big ones. 50 ann 60s for us. most locations. it's making a pretty big little push there. there is a lot of low clouds out there. there are big thunderstorms east of fresno and bakersfield. so far they are taking aim toward the sierra. we say nothing. i will mention a few afternoon cloud buildups. 80s through the interior.

70s and 60s closer to the water. we are looking at traffic that is much busier. it will be slow as you drive through the livermore valley. that is the slowest commute. traffic will be busy as you drive. it's a 41 minute drive between the altamont pass and dublin area. i move the maps over. we can look at the east shore freeway. still not a big drive. highway 101 looks good in marin. highway 37 is very slow out of vallejo. let's go to live pictures now. i want to show you the bay bridge toll plaza. backed up for a 25 minute drive from oakland to san francisco.

>> reporter: the roadway opened about five minutes ago. so that is the good news. we know the accident investigation scene was out here all night. for the last eight hours. piecing together how this accident unfolded. last night around 10:30 black bmw was heading westbound on international boulevard in a white dodge pickup truck south on 35th. the two collided in the middle of intersection. investigators are not sure who ran the red light but they are hoping surveillance will provide clues. a pedestrian was struck by the truck. he is the person in critical condition and in intensive

care. the fire started shortly after 11:00 last night. the fire is in an old military barracks that has been used in the past. when firefighters arrived last night, the flames fled to 50%. no injuries were reported. vallejo fire officials say although the barracks have been vacant, it is widely known for being used by the homeless. watch out for lightning. the national weather service issued lightning warning for parts of the bay area for later tonight and tomorrow morning. a low pressure system hovering off the coast right now can cause lightning strikes so if you plan outdoor activities you are advised to be extra

cautious. the greatest risk for lightning strikes are in eastern contra costa, solano, and napa counties. right now it's only 35% contained. 58 structures are still threatened. several evacuation orders are in place. 11 firefighters have been injured but all are reportedly recovering. time is 6:35. happening now they are cleaning up in san francisco's golden gate park after the outside lands music festival ended last night. ktvu alex savidge is out there live now to show us and tell us what it looks like this morning. good morning. >> reporter: dave, good morning to you. a lot of activity out here at the polo fields. we are watching workers as they

pack up the tents, pack up the equipment, and of course get ready to disassemble all of the stages throughout the park including the main stage here where we are this morning. that of course after the three- day outside lands music festival wrapped up late last night. all of those concert goers that made their way to the park, they left behind a lot of trash. crews have been busy cleaning up the park. outside lands wrapped up last night and concert goers spilled out into the separates. and many were clogged were cast. the three-day festival tends to draw complaints from neighbors. especially when it comes to the traffic and noise. the 200,000 people turned out for this year's event. the seventh year it has happened here. and about 100 or so other bands. and despite the huge crowds, san francisco police say the biggest issue they face was a large number of people who bought fake tickets and brought those tickets to the gates. officers seized hundreds of

counterfeit tickets over the past three days and as many as 35 suspected scalpers were also taken into custody. security was especially ramped up. there was surveillance cameras throughout the park and extra officers on duty. one neighbor we talked to this morning was surprised by how clean his street was. >> usually in the past i would wake up in the morning and there would be trash in my front lawn. water bottles, beer bottles. today it's not as bad. >> san francisco police also focused in on the quality of life projects. they handed out a lot of tickets for people who littered or urinated in public and also caught a large number of people trying to hop the fences to get into the event for free. as far as the noise levels out here, outside lands set up a noise complaint hotline for neighbors but organizers haven't said exactly how many people called in to lodge complaints about the music here over the past three days.

live in san francisco alex savage ktvu channel 2 news. firefighters that were hurt when their fire truck rolled over on saturday. they are recovering at home. investigators say the fire truck rolled twice before slamming into an suv. fire officials say the fire truck was heading to a house fire. three other people were hurt in this horrible crash. the one firefighter still in the hospital he was at the wheel in the back of the rig. now in the aftermath of that fire truck rolling over, officers are just reminding everyone to be on alert when emergency responders are moving on the road. drivers have to remember you've got to slow down when you hear the sirens and see the lights flashing coming from the emergency vehicles. once the emergency responder is approaching, drivers are required to move out of the way, yield to the right of way

and pull over to the right hand of the road. california law also requires drivers to move over into one lane or slow down to a safe speed if an emergency responder is stopped on the highway. we are following new developments in iraq. iraq's new president has named the deputy parliament speaker as the new head of government snubbing current prime minister who had demanded to be renominated for a third term. in the meantime the u.s. military is continuing to launch air strikes on isis targets in iraq. the u.s. air strikes are helping them prepare a defense against isis militants but they need even more help including better weapons. secretary of state john kerry issued a warning today that a political power struggle is the last thing iraq needs right now. >> one thing all iraqis need to know is that there will be little international support of any kind whatsoever for

6:43. police in san francisco's bay view district are looking for a shooter that killed two young men riding dirt bikes in the neighborhood. ktvu brian flores is live in the bay view where resident there is are really fed up with all the crime. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, tori. they certainly are. that is because on top of the

shooting that happened yesterday, there was another shooting in the same area that happened last month. and this morning san francisco police are asking for the public's help for any information toward the suspect or suspects. now this is video from yesterday afternoon where police investigated the bay view's latest shooting. the two victims that have yet to be identified were encountering gun fear when police say they tried to flee on their dirt bikes and crash early before 5:15 on sunday afternoon. it's unclear as to why they were shot but the gunman remains at large this morning. we spoke to several residents that live nearby. >> reporter: it goes in cycles. there has been an uptake recently. like i said it's something very disstressing. >> reporter: the incident is being investigate the by san francisco pd homicide unit. a medical examiner will --

crash perhaps both. one man was shot in the same area on july 8th. brian flores ktvu channel 2 news. time is 6:44. this morning san jose police continue their investigation into a grim discovery made inside of a hotel room. a housekeeper found the decomposed body of two women on north first street. investigators believe the bodies have been there for a day. >> the two women don't appear to be from the bay area and staying here for the weekend.

welcome back. an investigation goes on this morning surrounding the racetrack death of a 20-year- old driver hit and killed by three-time nascar champ tony stewart this weekend at a dirt track in new york. now this amateur video shows kevin ward's sprint car hitting a wall during lap 14 right there after apparently being cut off by stewart's car.
