police thought she had a gun in her hand. that gun turned out to be a cordless drill. a friend told ktvu channel 2 news that she suffered from bipolar disorder and didn't comprehend the seriousness of a situation. a man is under arrest in connection to a stabbing at glide memorial church. the victim was stabbed in the shoulder. the wound is not life threatening. it happened about 10:00 a.m. this morning. the suspect ran from the church and arrested on a muni bus. police have not yet said what the motive was. closed after a truck crashed into a powerpole about 8:40 a.m -- power pole about 8:40 a.m. this morning. concord boulevard remained closed today.

. complete bay area news coverage starts right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. >> 2 investigates the police response to a bank robbery and shoot out in stockton that ended with the death of misty holt-singh. when it was over two suspect and misty holt-singh a mother of two were dead. police revealed misty holt- singh died from officers gunfire shot 10 times. now a month later the police radio recorders are raising questions. the police chief sat down with 2 investigates to discuss the crisis. ktvu's allie rasmus is live with what our investigation revealed. >> reporter: we went through two hours worth of recorders

from that day. and we sat down with the police chief to talk about them. >> reporter: during a high- speed chase and shoot out on july 16, 71 police officers rushed to the scene. three hostages. one of the hostages was shot and thrown out of the vehicle within minutes. later another hostage was thrown out. that left one hostage inside the suv. misty holt-singh. >> reporter: was there confusion? >> well, it was intense. i don't know if any specific confusion. >> reporter: police chief agreed to answer questions about how his officers responded that day and why one of the hostages misty holt- singh was killed by police gunfire. when the bank robbery happened 2 police officers initially responded to the call.

those officers saw three armed robbers walking out the bank with the hostage. the robbers went back inside the bank and came out with two more hostages, including misty holt-singh 467 -- >> all those things began to be put in place. before they were able to be in place they went mobile. negotiations could never occur under taking fire. >> reporter: throughout the chase you can hear gunfire. while officers try to relay information about what they see in the suv. [ indiscernible ] >> looks like hostage. >> reporter: what is unclear if officers knew how many hostages were involved. >> there was dialogue going on and communication to best determine how many potential or actual hostages were in the car. >> reporter: didn't the officers outside the bank see them take the hostages?

5:00 a.m. this morning. in east oakland. it started in an abandon camper shell before spreading. officials say squatters were seen leaving the area moments before the fire started. >> we got somebody in the neighborhood, when they pile up trash out here, like to set it on fire. this time it caught the building. >> one firefighter was injured by down wired which added to the challenge but the firefighter is expected to be okay. crews also had to deal with a ruptured gas line that has been capped. fifth of freshman at uc schools are from out of state. that means more money that charge out of state students $23,000 more. ucla has the highest percentage of out of state freshman. university of california at berkeley has the second most.

video. they are still looking for a 4 4th person. they are accused of shooting a man in the leg mondays. two men and one -- leg monday. two men and one woman were booked. investigators say the suspect and victim knew each other and were arguing before the shooting. mother from iowa says she is heart broken the eyes of her decease son could not be donated because he was gay. she was happy to receive a letter telling her what became of her son's kidneys, liver, heart and lungs. he committed suicide after years of bullying. but due to a regulation from the 1980s one thing was missing. she was told her son's eyes could not be donated. >> my initial feeling was angry because i didn't understand why my son's eyes couldn't be donated. >> the rule was designed to stop the spread of aids.
