good evening, i'm ken wayne. heather holmes is off. we have new information on the shoreline shooting at last night's wiz khalifa concert. the coroner's office has yet to name the victim but friends identify him's 38-year-old erik johnson of oakland. we have a report. >> reporter: ken, there is heightened security in light of last night's shooting. mountain view police say they have stepped up patrols. a friend of erik johnson's tells me he was a concert promoter. he had a record label to try to help local bay area rap artists up and coming rap artists. above all, he was a "husband" and father. friends of 38-year-old erik johnson posting rest in peace messages on instagram. friends say johnson was known on the rap scene through his

company. ♪[ music ] >> reporter: back stage at last night's concert at the shoreline amphitheater, promoting an after party in san jose. he never made it. mountain view police were called to the theater just after 11:00 last night after a man was shot multiple times back stage at the concert. johnson was transported to the hospital and died. the shooter is still on the loose. police have yet to recover the murder weapon, a black pistol with black magazine. >> we are looking to the public to assist us with anything they took on instra gram, vine, any. social media channels and we ask them to please let us know because we want to catch this shooter. we have a victim. the family is suffering. >> i was shocked, yeah, the security was really good at the show and they weren't letting no backpacks, no purse, no big purses. you had to have little purses. no blanket. no sheets for the lawn seats. they weren't allowing anything in. >> reporter: one fan who asked us not who share her last name won tickets back stage to the

concert. samantha described the mood as calm and secure. >> it was weird how could somebody sneak a gun in? they were patting people down. it was completely secure. i felt safe there. >> reporter: she left a half- hour before the shooting saying something in her gut told her to leave. thankful she did she is now thinking twice about going back stage again. >> you're so excited to be back stage for this cool good experience and then makes you not want to do it again. >> reporter: on twitter they tweeted this message. this was a senseless tragedy. violence is never the answer. my prayers go out to the victim's family. tonight the wiz khalifa concert in the chula vista san diego area is canceled. live in mountain view, a zenith smith, ktvu.com. mountain view police have taken to twitter to ask for help with this investigation. if you have tips about last night's shooting, you can tweet

details directly to police or call them. east bay m.u.d. crews tonight are working to try to fix a water main break that caused a sinkhole to open up in a residential street. it start about 1:00 this afternoon in richmond on fair immediate mead drive near hilltop mall. an 8" water main broke and undermined the pavement. some homes are without water. east bay m.u.d. says it hopes to have service restored sometime tonight. there is no word yet on what caused that water main to break. a deadly motorcycle accident in the east bay today took the life of a rider. it happened about 3:20 this morning on southbound interstate 880 near the hague haig road off-ramp. the highway patrol says the victim is a 26-year-old hayward man who apparently lost control and hit the center divide. investigators say the rider was thrown from the bike and landed in one of the lanes where he was then struck by a car. the car's driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police. a stretch of highway 4 in

antioch will be closed overnight as construction crews work on a project to widen the road. from midnight tonight until 5 a.m. tomorrow, all westbound lanes from somerville load to lone tree way will be closed. a detour will be in place to help drivers avoid the construction. now to continuing coverage on the controversy in ferguson, missouri. more signs of peace in the streets tonight. the st. louis county naacp held a youth march to the site where brown was killed by police. the demonstration is a change of pace in the community after two weeks of violent protests in the city. but amid the calm another side of the story is finding its voice today. is finding its supporters of the officer who killed brown are speaking out. >> my name is darren wilson. we are darren wilson. evidence will show the ferguson police officer acted properly when he shot michael brown two weeks ago. >> we share the united belief that officer wilson's actions were warrant and justified. >> reporter: the scenes in ferguson have been dramatically different than earlier in the week. police in riot gear were nowhere to be seen. protests were peaceful. the ferguson police chief even mingled with protestors and brought them water saturday. captain ron johnson in charge of security for the town indicated the crisis had reached a turning point. >> there were no molotov cocktails tonight. no fires. no shootings. and we did not see a single handgun. no police officer fired a single bullet. >> reporter: despite the recent peace, officer wilson supporters say media coverage of the shooting and following chaos have hurt ferguson. >> we believe this is only intensified the destruction of the community of ferguson and the surrounding st. louis areas. >> reporter: a st. louis county grand jury will decide if charges should be brought

dozens of surfers gathered at the mouth of the russian river in sonoma county to say farewell to one of their own. 36-year-old brad parker died last saturday while rock climbing in yosemite national park. hours earlier, he had proposed to his girlfriend who said yes. friends and family today remember parker as a man who could do it all, climber, surfer, chef, yoga instructor and they chose to remember the world traveler in one of his favorite places. they came in their wet suits bearing surf boards and flowers to remember a man many here openly say they idolized. >> i think the fact is at 36 could have this many people come out to remember him and to

celebrate his life, that says more than any words i could say. >> reporter: brad parker died doing what he loved. hours after proposing to his girlfriend, he fell during a climb in tuolumne meadows. it's a heartbreaking loss to his hours old fiancee, parents and the dozens of people who knew him through the many avenues he explored in his quest to live life to the fullest. >> you say live like brad parker? be the best person that you can be. >> aloha ♪ aloha ♪ aloha ♪ >> reporter: after a traditional hawaiian chant, dozens paddled out to the mouth of the russian river, pausing to reflect on brad's effect on their lives. fred said brad did more than he could ever ask.

this afternoon at a park in sebastopol. his ashes will be scattered in the places he loved the most. yosemite, hawaii, and the sonoma coast. there is a no-fly zone in place right now over iceland after a volcano started to erupt. scientists say the lava is currently melting the ice beneath the glacier and could send a significant amount of steam and ash in the air. a red alert was issued to the airlines the highest level. a 2010 eruption caused 100,000 flight cancellations then. want to check in now with mark tamayo to see what's going on. we had sunshine around the bay area. >> nice day to be outside. lots of sunshine out there. the fog gradually cleared back to the coastline as you would expect for this time of year and we had some nice warm temperatures out there, nothing too hot. take a look at the numbers from this afternoon. lots of 80s in morgan hill, antioch and fairfield, oakland mid-70s. and san francisco, topped out 70 degrees. we still have the fog out

there. so it's not completely clear. that fog bank will expand in coverage over the next few hours. here's muir beach, daly city. the clouds out there. as far as current numbers, updating you for the 6:00 hour, still showing you some warm numbers out toward walnut creek and livermore. san francisco 63 degrees. and santa rosa last check reporting 73. reporting mostly sunny skies. for tonight, mostly clear skies with the exception of some fog near the coast and a few patches right around the bay. in fact here's our live camera looking out towards sutro tower. evidence of that low cloud deck paying us a visit now. tomorrow morning fog, cooler, but more sunshine for the 9ers game for tomorrow afternoon at levi's stadium. lots of sunshine as they take on the chargers. temperatures will be in the upper 70s. could be flirting with 80 degrees once again. and then the extended forecast, a bit of a warming trend and 90s make a comeback well inland. overnight lows first thing tomorrow morning will be in the 50s. the fog near the coast and right around the bay to start

out your sunday morning out there. so here's the overall weather pattern. there is a weather system up here to our north. this area of low pressure, we are going to cool things off a little bit for tomorrow, not too much change into monday. but as this area of high pressure returns, warm things back up especially by wednesday and thursday. and by wednesday and thursday, temperatures inland on track to reach the low possibly the mid- 90s. watching all this activity to our south. you can see a couple of hurricanes here, a tropical storm already generating some south swells towards southern california. we could pick up some swells as well especially later in the week with the moisture moving in from marie. here's the forecast track and something to keep an eye on, there is a slight chance we could have some of this moisture approach the region, approach the bay area for next weekend. there's a very slight chance of some rain for next weekend. it's still a ways out but something we will be watching in the long-range forecast maps. here we go with the clouds and fog tomorrow morning and clearing back to the shoreline into the afternoon hours, temperatures inland on track to reach the 80s for afternoon highs. even a few low 90s toward
