morning. pg&e crews had to dig it up just to shut off the gas and they are still out here this morning. this all began when the driver of this blue car slammed into the home and that driver sent gas and six homes were evacuated 14 people were evacuated and they say that car first took out that fence before hitting the meter. >> all i could hear is the gas spewing and at that point, i tried it open the car door to see who this person was and to see if the car door was locked. somehow he came out of door. >> it is unclear why that driver lost control but he appeared to be a teen and

officers did give him in sobe test. they have not said. the got a noose for them, they are now back home, alex savage ktvu channel 2 morning news. well, a labor day celebration left by a fire in nor restville. -- forestville. it started at a cabin in laurel avenue and summer home park road. this is a popular vacation spot in sonoma county. dozenels were evacuated including a woman in her 80s. the home was the only one destroyed by the fire and her son was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.

world. enjoy the beach and the sun, stay out of the water. >> there are also reports of a second swimmer in trouble. that brought up a coast guard official and that turned out to to be a false alarm. a young man had gone for a swim which is near point reyes yesterday afternoon. she tried to swim back to the water and it's on the return swim when he went missing. he did come back and called it off and we have been talking to the coast guard, there is no word on if that search will resume and of course we will keep an eye on that situation and keep you updated, but again, it was a very dangerous day across the bay area. ktvu channel 2 morning news. also happening today, the

. welcome back to the ktvu channel 2 morning news at 643, one person was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in milpitas. it happened on park victoria drive. the person hit was not in the crosswalk. he was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. the driver was stopped and is cooperating and has not been cited. people are back in their homes in danville after a gas leak. alex savage has more on this potentially explosive situation. >> reporter: good morning to you, pam, natural gas was coming from this broken line for about three hours and of course there was a huge concern about a fire and pg&e crews are still working out here to do all of their repair work which is necessary. they had to dig up the front

yard of of this home to access the valve and shut off the gas and that's why it took so long to get the situation under control. this is all caused by a car that ploughed into them just before 1:00 a.m. and took out the main gas meter at the home. they were not seriously hurt with this one inch line spewing homes and were evacuated with 15 people in total forced to leave this area. the people who live here said they got out when the gas was leaking, firefighters said this was a dangerous situation. >> fortunately the weather was in their favor. they are dissipating, and had the gas into the garage. it is unclear right now why the driver of that car lost control and hit the home. he appeared to it be a

teenager, and we do not know the results of that test. they have not said at this point if the driver was arrested. we are waiting to get more information from police. they are looking egg gasoline and -- leaking gasoline and the control has been capped and everybody is evacuated and is now back home. >> dui arrests were made. earlier we showed a slight increase and dui arrests were made so far compared to 140 arrest is the same period last year. the number of deadly dui crashes are also up. this year three people are killed with drunk driving crashes and this year there are no deaths.
