at all. when you see a helicopter flying this close to the ocean and this close to the shoreline, something bad is going on. that's what's going on here, off the coast of california, a rescue in progress. this is actually a chp helicopter, a highway patrol helicopter, trying to rescue a stranded kayaker who is on the rocks over here. once the diver is down to the rocks, he's tieing that harness around the kayaker. apparently, the kayaker identified by the california state park officials as 43-year-old guy was tangled up in kelp. the kayak end up breaking, and he ended up stranded on the rocks for almost an hour. he was about 50 feet from shore, and these are some rocks. there he goes back up into the

helicopter. that helicopter landed on a bluff not far from the rescue site to observe the guy, ensure he was okay, cleared to go home after the rescue. >> well, the water off the coast of california have huge waves, huge swell, so i'm not surprised that maybe the impact of the kayak maybe against the rock caused it to break. >> here's the part of the video that we probably are all thinking. >> did they leave somebody down there? >> how is this guy going to get back? >> there's a guy on the rocks. he was not a kayaker, just someone trying to help with the rescue. no reports of any injuries related to this particular kayak rescue so we assume that man left there on the rocks is doing just fine and is back on dry ground. tz amazing what drives
