we can show you where it is. you see that next to the tracks. and a man who lives in the encampment told us he heard a noise outside his tent and went to check it out and went face to face with the 6-year-old boy completely naked and shivering. he offered the boy food and called police. >> no, sergio zepeda has autism and he wasn't able to explain to the man that he was lost and he used a friend's cellphone to call police and they say when he arrive they found him safe and sound and taken to the hospital as a precaution to get checked outs. little dehydrated. little hypothermic and he is reunited with his family. >> sergio zepeda was reported

missing yesterday. mom told police the garage door was open and he ran outside. he is reported to have autism so police were concerned he wouldn't be able to communicate that he was lost and they had been looking for him for 17 hours when he was found by the homeless couple here. a man and his wife at the encoachment off monterey highway. we will hear more from police about the happy outcome and the boy who is missing for nearly 17 hours is found safe and sound. >> allie rasmus. >> channel 2 news. police are still looking for the gunman. it happened at 10:30 last night. when police arrived, they found one person with serious injuries. two people left the scene. traffic on interstate five # zero is back to normal at this hour following a deadly crash. >> this is around 9:30 last

that boy was found by a good samaritan, allie. >> the boy spend the entire night wandering through the hillside. >> this is monterey highway want 6-year-old sergio zepeda's home is on the other side of the hill. that's where he was last seen 9:00 yesterday morning. after being missing for more than 17 hour, they were thinking the worse. >> they got a call from a person living in a homeless encompment at the bottom of the hill. they took us over to the camp where i spoke briefly with the man. he and his wife heard noises outside their 10th. they went with the flashlight to check it out and went face to face with the 6-year-old boy who was completely naked and shivering. >> he can't really communicate. he wasn't able to tell the man what was wrong and that he was lost. >> he got a friend's cellphone

and called 911. >> took us a little while to locate the location and one of the folks came out and flagged us out on the roadway and informed the them that the child was with his wife. they had wrapped him up in a blanket. >> now, search yo was taken to the hospital as a precaution. over than the tact that he was a little bit key hydrated and cold. he was reunited with his family this morning. he was first reported missing yesterday. and his mother noticed the garage door of their home open. >> no one had seen him since then and police say they are very grateful for the help of this good samaritan, the homeless man. and found the little boy this morning. and he and his officers would like to nominate the man for a good samaritan award. >> he was very modest about the
