man coming towards a group of people on the sidewalk. it looked like the driver was leaning into the passenger seat. >> i was here. i was about to scream. be careful, but it was too late. >> the car veered off the road on to the sidewalk. a woman was hit first and then the car struck three teenagers. the pedestrians and the driver went to the hospital with critical injuries. >> what caused the collision, what caused the driver to veer off. >> the woman is a student teacher and the hillsdale high school students, participant of a special education class and walks are part of their curriculum. >> we are offering support services to other teachers who witnessed this very serious accident. >> he knows those witnesses will need help. he is still trying to come to

video to an nfl executive in april. a law enforcement source played a voicemail and that voicemail has a female voice saying you are right, it is terrible. last night in an interview nfl commissioner roger goodel said no one with the nfl to his knowledge had seen the video of ray rice and his fiance from inside the elevator till tmz posted it monday. roger goodel maintains the nfl asked law enforcement for all video and assumed there was video from inside the elevator but was never able to get it from law enforcement. the video was longer than the tmz version. you can hear the couple shouting and she spits at him before he punches her. as rice gets out of the elevator and greeted by staff, rice says no cops. after the reports surfaced

today the nfl issued a statement we have no knowledge of this. we are not aware of anyone in our office who possessed or saw the video before it was made public on monday. we will look into. we are monitoring more information coming from the nfl office. as we wait to hear if they will confirm whether an executive did indeed receive the video in april and if so who else was told or knew about it. julie haener, ktvu channel 2 news. some people are demanding roger goodel resign. the nfl has lost its way and the commissioner needs to be replaced and a senator said roger goodel should consider stepping down. it appears roger goodel still has it support of nfl owners. for the first time the family of san francisco 49ers ray mcdonald is speaking out in his defense about his arrest

game wardens killed a mountain lion the one believed to have attacked a six-year-old boy. dogs found the scent this morning. the dogs spotted the mountain lion but it ran 65 feet up a tree. game wardens then shot the animal. they are 99% sure this is the same mountain lion that attacked the boy. we have pictures here of paw prints. officials say they were the only tracks in the area. the male mountain lion was found 130 yards away from where the boy was attacked. it was taken to sacramento for testing. 16-year-old boy is back home after an intensive search in the east bay and san francisco. this morning minh ly's family gave him a big welcome home.

he was located an hour earlier at a youth shelter in san francisco. minh ly went there on his own after leaving his family on saturday after an argument. search teams scoured his neighborhood and then switched to san francisco. he was located after tip from the public. family in a gated community was terrorized by armed robbers. ktvu's mike mibach tells us police are trying to figure out how they got into the gated community. >> reporter: fountains and flowers. this is the country club, home to hundreds. >> my wife and i were aware of our safety. we have burglar alarms. cameras. dogs. >> reporter: that front entrance has private security 24 hours a day.

this community is gated. once you get on to the property, not a lot of crime, that is till today. >> received a 911 call and they reported there was a home invasion robbery. >> reporter: she says inside the home a family of three people -- >> they were victims inside the residents. the suspects made way into the house and they were armed and demanded items. two victims were injured. >> reporter: police would not say how they got in, what they stole or what weapons were used but one resident said he heard through neighbors that the owner was pistol whipped. >> automatically my ears perked up. >> reporter: he is puzzled on how the robbers got into the area. >> the resident has to alert the gate attendant they have a guest. >> reporter: police are looking

complete bay area news coverage continues right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. a bay area track coach brought into court in shackles accused of a relationship with a student. the student 17. the coach is 33. the judge appeared to suggest leniency in the case. ktvu's cara liu reports the coach was in court in san jose. >> san jose high school track coach appeared in court in shackles this afternoon. the 33-year-old is accused of a sexual relationship with a 17- year-old girl. prosecutors said the coach met the girl while she was a student and started a relationship after she graduated. >> a coach for the track team. he met her in that capacity and we expect better of our teachers and it is a violation of trust and of the community.

>> the judge reduced the bail to $95,000. he is due back in court september 24 to enter a plea. >> i wanted to present a different side of mr. lopez than what was reported. this is a man with no criminal history. a dedicated coach. he is embarrassed to be in this situation. >> reporter: officials confirm he joined the district in 2007. she on administrative leave without pay. if convicted he could face 5 years in prison. cara liu, ktvu channel 2 news. the district attorney cleared six police officers for shooting a drug dealer during a sting last year. the 34-year-old was in a parked truck last september with an uncover police officer. 5 other officers were listening to the conversation through a recording device.

the district attorney's report says he told the officer that he had a gun and then reached for his waist band. that is when the officer opened fire. the shooting was justified because the officer feared for his life. water main that burst in oakland as a bus was passing by caused a small sink hole. officials say the weight of the bus caused the section of road tabuckle -- to buckle. 30 customers are currently without water. neighbors say they could hear the break happen. >> you heard it street pop. the bus got stuck and kept moving. >> crews are working to fix the break. the pipe has been there since the 1930s and age may be a factor. they hope to have it replaced and the road repaired and water restored this evening.

governor jerry brown signed into law legislation provided paid sick leer for california workers -- leave for california workers. it effects 40% of the state's work force, 6 million who don't get paid six days. it allows three paid sick days per year. >> if i am an employer and california keeps punning up the mandate i am going to figure out how to reduce the employees i have. >> the governor dismissed the criticism. california is the second state after do know enact a paid sick leave. it goes in effect july of next year. police are looking for two men wanted for a deadly stabbing in the mission district. ktvu's noelle walker is live in san francisco where police are trying to piece together clues to the killing.

police are investigating two arsons at vacant businesses in the same strip mall. the most recent happened yesterday morning. someone set fire to a gas can. that came 24 hours after a fire was set at a business a few doors down. you may have noticed the gas prices are going down. gas in northern california is down 10 cents a gallon.

that is due to refineries switching to a cheaper winter blend of gas. a gallon in san francisco is $3.96 a gallon. last month it was $4. in oakland $3.84 and in san jose it is $3.83. the university of california is making a big investmental to finding ways to -- investment to finding ways to fight climate change. if approved the money would go towards research into the cause and ways to reverse it. the university says it will not divest in oil companies which some have called for. officials say the plastic bag ban is having a dramatic impact. the number of people who buy a paper bag declined 85%. the number of shoppers bringing their own bags doubled. it is meant to keep plastic bags out of the creeks and

muni service bag up and running after police say a woman was hit by train late this morning causing a major disruption in service. it was a suicide attempt. the woman was alive when she was taken to san francisco general hospital. officers closed the station and passengers were taken by bus to the next station. the predof a wildfire -- the spread of a wildfire in yosemite national park is being slowed down. the fire burned 4500 acres. containment is 10% tonight. trails remain off limits. the fire was started by lightning in july but was only discovered last month. four homes have been destroyed by a wildfire. 250 people are under mandatory evacuation orders and hundreds

have been put on notice. the fire burned 100,000 acres since it began last month. it is 30% contained. the coast of fighting the fire so far $60 million. $50 million to help stop the ebola outbreak in west africa. the foundation spent $10 million fighting ebola. today the foundation announced the additional pledge. the world health organization says almost 4300 people have been infected with ebola sincey. and that more than half of them have -- since march. and that more than half of them have died. some schools are having having to get creative because of the drought. it is now hurting the educational process. ktvu's john sasaki is live with how high school fund raising is taking a hit because of the
