>> good morning to you. >> good morning, everyone. let's get a quick look at that sunday forecast. good morning. >> our gradual cool down will continue for today giving you a live look across the bay. low clouds back with us this morning. the marine layer hasn't grown a whole lot. the on shore breeze is a little bit stronger. we're waking up with mostly cloudy skies hugging the coastline over parts of the northbound santa rosa waking up mostly closey as well. we have clouds over the area like san jose. we will begin to see a clearing as we get through the 2nd half of the morning. fair field reporting 26 miles per hour, a little bit of cool air being pumped inland and again i think for the afternoon the temperatures will be coming down a few degrees from yesterday. 56 in walnut creek. 59 for san francisco. half moon bay checking in at 57. if you do plan on being along the beach there is advisory for rip current that to be aware of

if you're going anywhere from the beach all the way into month ray it's from the entire coastline today. temperatures 63 from pacific cha. 65 in san francisco, 70s along the east bay. 75 if you're going to sea at the oakland radars play today. i wanted to say, hey, it's not the as, it's the radar. so these numbers again coming down a few degrees an they're going to continue to fall. i'll show you the cooling trend in the extended forecast coming up. we are following developing news in richmond this morning, a person was shot and killed by police officer. ally is live in richmond where an investigation is now underway, ally. >> well, this is the city of richmond's 1st deadly officer involved shooting in 7 years. it happened outside a liquor store in carlson which is where we are. police are still on the scene. you can see they've closed an area of at least a couple of blocks around where this happened. richmond police are not giving us much information about what

happened here. the officers here at the scene told me they're not able to say anything and are called to the public information officer to the department this morning have not been returned. here is what we do know, the fatal officer involved shooting happened just after midnight at the store. we don't know the identity of the man killed. we don't know whether he was armed, we don't have any details about what the circumstances were that led up to 1 of the richmond police officers shooting him. police do say that shots were fired both inside and outside that liquor store when this all happened. we did have a chance to talk to a couple of people at the scene who say they were friends of the man who was killed. they say he's in his mid 20s. police won't give us any information until his family has been notified. the officer involved in this shooting has been placed on paid administrative leave. the district attorney's office is investigating. we'll continue to work this story in the next 30 minutes and come back at 7:30, live in richmond, ktvu channel 2 news.

early this morning an 11- year-old child was killed in a single vehicle crash. it happened just before 1:00 a.m. near nsa280 south. for some reason a chevy suburban went off the road. the vehicle slammed into a tree on the same side of the suv where the child was sitting. the rest of the occupants in that vehicle suffered major to minor injuries. an investigation is underway this morning into a deadly house fire in santa rosa. that fire started at a home on 11th street on the west side of downtown area. the emergency dispatch center told us the fire grew to 2 alarm. the coroner was called to the scene. according to the press democrats is believed that elderly woman was sole occupant of that home. the radars are hosting the texans in oakland. but it's the 49ers under the national spotlight as they play their 1st regular season game, their new billion dollar home. kick off against the chicago

will take public transit. cal tran will provide 2 special southbound trains to the mountain view station. the party at san francisco at 2:35 and 2:55 this afternoon. they'll offer special light rail service and 6 express buslines. great america is closed today and will turn over its 6500 parking spots to football fans. the game now is a sell out and fans are paying pretty big money for these tickets. online is standing room only and going for about $170. if you want a seat, the tickets are going for a low of $180 to nearly $6,000 for close to the field vip seating. here are the important times to keep in mind today. the parking lot at the stadium opens at 1:30, the stadium gates open at 2:30. fans are asked to be in their seats by 5:00 p.m. as the special pregame show will begin at 5:01 and kick off again scheduled just a little

estimated 125 acres in redwood valley. firefighters went door to door to evacuate 50 homes and set up at eagle peak middle school. roads have been closed at highway 101 and highway 20 are still open. a fire is keeping firefighters in nevada county busy. the flames broke out yesterday afternoon. forward progress fire stopped at about 6:00. the burns 250 acres and damaged 2 homes and a trailer. mandatory evacuations were lifted at about 9:30 last night. right now that fire is 20% contained. meanwhile an evacuation order remains in place for more than 200 homes as firefighters try to contain the silverado fire. that fire started in the mountains of the cleveland national forest. it knocked out power to about 400 homes. it has burned about 1500 acres and is 10% contained. firefighters are still trying

to contain the meadow fire. it burned about 4500 acres and many trails are still off limits. no structures are threatened but last week people had to be evacuated. lightning started that fire last month, right now it's about 50% contained. >> a woman was injured after falling while trying to escape from a burning three-story building. that fire started just about 9:00 on king street. officials say 2 people were trapped in 1 of the units, 1 woman tried to escape through the window but then fell 3 stories. she was transported to the hospital. no word on her condition this morning. officials say they believe that fire was an accident possibly started by some items near a wall heater. happening today a community bike ride is being held in honor of late comedian. there will be 2 starting locations both at 8:00. both groups will rendezvous and

store. we're trying to get more information on exactly what happened here and we have to have another update in 30 minutes live in richmond ktvu channel news. a man who shot and killed his wife in glen allen claims she attacked him 1st. it happened around 7:00 last night. the man who is bedridden said his wife attacked him with a knife and that's when he shot her. an investigation is underway. things are back to normal in a downtown hotel after it was evacuated over suspicious device. the bomb squad was called after the device was found in a rest room at the hilton around 10:30 yesterday morning. police say while the item did look strange, it did not contain anything threatening. >> it was not explosive, we're not exactly sure what it was, it wasn't a bomb. so nobody was ever really in any real danger. >> guests on the 1st and 2nd floors were evacuated for about 6 hours. at least 9 people were hurt

after deck collapsed. firefighters say this happened around 7:00 on oakland avenue. they say multiple people were on the deck when it gave way. three people suffered critical injuries including broken legs the cause of the collapse is being investigated. firefighters say right now they're treating it an as an unfortunate accident. a number of sightings continues to go after it's spotted on the peninsula, it happened friday night off crestavy that lane. they called deputies and then on thursday there was another mountain lion sighting. the sighting comes a week after mountain lion attacked a 6-year- old at a winery after an extensive search, that cat was shot and killed. the boy is recovering at home and the trail where the mountain lion was found has now re-opened to the public. the bears who live in yosimity national park appear to be behaving better according to the times reports of bears

minor. the employees were cited business owners contacted and alcohol beverage control was notified. police say this was part of an on going effort to reduce under age drinking in the city. we do have a recall to tell you about involving tomatoes that were sold at grocery stores. tray see taylor farms has issued a volunteer recall for expo fresh roman tomato. they include packages that was at the costco stores with the packing date of september 5th september 5th and 6th. it effects salad that is sold at deli and safe way stores. it was found during routine testing. the city can be race -- the city wants to raise its rate by about 63% for a unit of water. the increase would cover about $2.4 million in drought related costs from may to june of 2015. the veiny sanrefinery which uses about half of the city

last, back to you. >> new this morning in richmond, a person was shot and killed by a police officer. ktvu ally is live in richmond where that investigation is now underway. ally. >> well, in charleston boulevard has been closed off for much of the night. it has been re-opened to traffic and pedestrians although right in front of this liquor store where this all happened you can see police have crime scene tape and there's richmond police officer standing on guard in front of the store. we do have some information about what happened here. according to richmond police an officer working alone decided to do a security check at this store. police say this is a "problem area" the security checks aren't uncommon. there were several people hanging out when the officer arrived including the man who was eventually killed by that officer. we don't know what prompted it, but police say at 1 point there was some sort of altercation between the officer and a man in his 20s. the officer fired his weapon and the man was killed. this all happened shortly after

midnight this morning. we don't know the identity of the man yet. police say they're still waiting to notify his family and police won't say if he was armed or what his mental condition was at the time of this shooting. we know the store was open at the time. police clarified that shots were fired outside the store, but the whole incident wrapped up and ended up inside the liquor store. there's still a lot of information -- a lot of details that we don't know yet. it's still unclear. when the coroner's van arrived they removed the body from inside the store. we had a chance to talk to a couple of people who say they were friends of the man killed. they said they were all standing outside when the police officer arrived and told them to leave. two of them did. they say when they left the area the last time they saw their friend he was sitting on the curve talk being the police officer. at some point after that there was some sort of disturbance. we don't know the circumstances

of the details about exactly what happened that led up to that altercation. now, police told us there were several people around when this all happened and the district attorney is investigating this officer involved shooting and we're told that they're interviewing witnesses and the peel involved as we speak. live in richmond ktvu channel 2 news. >> investigation is underway into a deadly house fire at santa rosa. that fire started around 9:30 last night at a home on the west side of the downtown area. the emergency dispatch center told us that fire grew to 2 alarm. the coroner was called to the scene but the identity of the victim has not been released. it is believed that an elderly woman was the sole occupant of that home. a person who was fishing off the coast has drowned. it happened yesterday morns just before 9:00. month ray county sheriff's deputy say 2 people were fishing when 1 of them fell into the water. the other 1 dove in and was unable to save that person.

the identity of the victim has not yet been released. an 11-year-old child was killed in a single vehicle crash it happened just before 1:00 a.m. near interstate 280. for some unknown reason a chevy suburban went off the roadway and down an embankment. the vehicle slammed into the tree on the same side of the suv where the child was sitting. the rest of the occupants suffered major to minor injuries. happening today the raiders are hosting the texans. it's the 49ers under the national spotlight as they play their game. kick off is in chicago bears it's a little after 5:30 p.m. they practiced yesterday. so far it is getting good reviews from kicker phil dolphins who worked out on the field several days ago. the bears are led by quarterback cortalar who the 9er -- cutler who says has 1 of the strongest arms in the nfl.

on the 77th floor of world trade center tower 2. after speaking with her she announced that all 6 people in the photo are alive and well and the 2 are planning to meet tomorrow so they can give him the photo. >> continuing coverage now the wild fires in california firefighters continue to battle the black fire in the county and that fire broke out yesterday afternoon and an estimated 125 acres in redwood valley. they went door to door to evacuate 50 homes. the shelter has been set up at eagle peak middle school. obviously that was not the plans there. they had been closed at highway 101. meanwhile an evacuation order remains in place for more than 200 homes as firefighters try to contain the silverado fire. that fire started in the mountains of the cleveland national forest it has knocked out power to about 400 homes and burned about 1500 acres and only 10% contained.

in yosimity national park firefighters are trying to contain the fire. it has burned about 4900 acres and many trails are still off limits. for now no structures are threatened but last week august 5 people had to be evacuated by helicopter. firefighters say lightning started that fire last month. right now it's just about 50% contained. in a fire near grass valley is keeping firefighters pretty busy. the flames broke out yesterday there. forward progress show the fires stopped at about 6:00. the flames earned about 250- acre, and a trailer mandatory evacuations were lifted just around 9:30 last night. right now the fire is 20% contained. >> all right, time now is 8:16 and we were joking a little earlier rosemary about me saying that it's cooling down a bit because it's so darn hot in certain places. without a doubt people will e- mail me or facebook me or tweet
